Two dark shapes softly hit the dusty ground, one after another. One, beautiful crimson bat's wings sprouting from her back, stared around in wonder at the ancient forest. The thick, wizened trees clawed at the ground with wicked shadows in the dying twillight. The other figure was taller and male, and walked with purpose. Two tall wings – similar to his companion's in composition– of a snowy ash flanked him like a pair of ragged sentinels. His black armor contrasted sharply with his ivory skin. His person was dotted with a number of weapons, conventional and exotic. The most apparent weapons were a katana strapped to his back – stained black with blood – and two blades grafted into his wrists. The wrist blades had retracted themselves fully within his forearms, and only the rusted triggers and the decaying frame of the other devices that once operated the blades could be seen.

Most prominent on his stature was a thin scarlet scarf of the finest silk that wound around his lower face and drifted close to the ground. Along the lower portion of the fabric, a sickly black stain brooded, shattering the beautiful fabric's perfection.

The two found themselves before a rotting cabin that could have been as old as the forest itself. The door collapsed with barely a shove, and the two walked in. The main room consisted of a fireplace on it's way to total collapse, and once charmingly rustic surroundings. A doorway led off to the side into the kitchen, and decaying stairs led upwards into darkness.

"Well..." Started David, the male figure, "this is where it all started."

Katrina did not let herself get surprised by things in the past; she wasn't about to start yet. The cabin was the pits and really she didn't want to waste more words on it. Just an utter pit.

Katrina walked carefully over the floor, not worried it would collapse under her feet, but just not to harm the surrounding. She looked over at David, wondering what actually he was thinking.

"What started here?"

The vampire smiled slyly. He had known full well she would ask.

"Well...when first I was possessed..." he looked over his arms, as if they were alien, still possessed by what simmered inside of him. "I couldn't control it. Here, I found myself and brought myself...or...was brought under control by a wise vampire named Kain. He let me vent my anger against him, and I eventually found my purpose through what he taught me. Here, as well, I was christened David by my fellows. Such an ironic name..." He paused for a moment before going on. "I learned everything anew here, and so it seems only fitting for you to learn about your new self here as well."

Even though he had explained himself, it still made little sense to her. Although, she could understand about being a new person here. Yet, do I change my personality because of my heritage now. I don't want to change that about myself.

Katrina paced around David. "That may be ture, but what if I don't want to change who I am?"

She poked one finger at David's shoulder and pushed. He stepped back a few steps to regain his balance. She smirked at him. "Oh, that is a plus."

She sat down on the floor, ignoring the bugs crawling about her, and rested her chin on her hands. "I mean, I like who I am, why change that?"

He scowled at her for a second after she shoved his shoulder. Something inside of him hated that she had more potential than he did.

'Take everything from her, suck her dry.' A greedy little voice whispered to him.

David ignored the demon, and his golden eyes remained as impassive as ever.

"There's no need to change who you are. In the end, you can't change your essence. You can only build upon what you are born – or created – with." He took a couple of steps towards Katrina and towered over her. "If you want to harness all of what is offered to you, never consider any step – no matter it's apparent direction – backtracking." He turned on his heel and looked up into the darkness of the second floor. "Certainly you are curious about some tangible things, unless you wish to continue our roundabout philisophical chat."

"You know I would rather enjoy that." She narrowed her eyes at him, there were things she needed to know about him and he was not ever going to tell him with Rashel in his mind.

"But the subject would just come back to that little angel of yours. Really would you want that?"

The vampire spun around with an agonized, sardonic smile on his face.

"You and I know full well the answer to that question." He said softly, and then his smile became more twisted. "You're playing to win. But win against whom? Do you know that answer?"

OOC: No, I am not involved in the old thread because I thought it was moved to this one. FCN, I do not mind starting another one with you, but first Katrina needs to get involved with what she is now, this is basically a story for her to find out what and who she really is. I could have Mercedes come back, I don't know how, but we could discuss that. Now, for my IC>>>

IC: Katrina glared, she was irritable and she knew it. David was only trying to help her out, but she couldn't get Rashel out of her mind. I don't think he can either. It would be just nice to know what I am going against, is it David, or the angel, or even me.

She sighed. "I think it would be nice, but I am not quite sure anyone knows what we are battling, but our own selves. I am sorry I keep bringing her up, but she is connected to this thing for some reason and I was just curious to know why. Maybe a past love that I don't want you to forget or that she doesn't want you to forget because she was in me you know."

She was tired.

"Enough about that. I need to get started with this and I am the one pushing it back. Train me so that I may be ready for anything."

He smiled thinnly and flicked his wrist. A single shrukien, carbon-tinted black, appeared in his palm, standing to rapt attention on one of it's four spikes.

"In order to be ready for anything, you must know it is coming, correct?" His almost friendly smile shifted into a frown. "Wrong. Paranoia is your friend. Don't trust me, my dear Katrina."

With a subtle flick, the bladed disk flew from his hand directly for Katrina's abdomen.

"Paranoia is not your enemy, not something to be avoided. However, it is also not to be abused. The first thing you must learn is to walk the fine line between all opposites. Trust or fear? Compassion or apathy? Light or dark?" His smile became twisted again, like a teacher finally catching a student in the act of breaking a sacred rule. "There is never a right answer."

A laugh escaped out of Katrina's grinning lips. She saw the disc approach, almost in slow motion. She stuck her hand out and the disc went halfway through her hand, out poured blood, red and vibrant. She looked down at her hand. She ripped it out with her other hand. She watched her blood drip off and it and she licked it with her tongue. She then, with a speed that even surprised her threw it back to David.

"I never trust anyone. I could not even trust my own twin sister, Mercedes." As she said that name, even hair stood on place and ever muscle in her body tensed up. She flexed her hand that had now stopped bleeding and was closing up. A smile came across her face, the endorphins were kicking in.

"Oh, pain, it can hurt so much and yet bring on so much pleasure."

Katrina walked around David, like an tiger stalking a stranded elk. She stood behind David. "Paranoia, I would never let control me because then your moves would be out of insanity and illogical. And as I do not trust you, neither should you trust me." With that she slipped out a small wooden knife, encrusted in silver and held it at David's throat.

"So, did you predict that? Out of paranoia, or just because that is something I would do?"

David replaced the shrukien – which he had caught in between his middle and index fingers – in from where it came, but kept his casual stance. Not a single muscle inside of him tensed.

She could feel him smirk. "If I were mortal, I might be scared. But I'm not, so..."

One of the cruel blades slid out of his wrist, and his other hand wrapped around her wrist. With a single smooth motion, she was against the creaking cabin wall, her knife hand pinned, David's own blade tip at her throat.

"You've changed a lot in a very short time. You wouldn't have pulled a stunt like that this morning, would you?" His voice was harsh and hot on her exposed neck. "No, you were just a scared, lost girl this morning. It's worth of respect, but I'm still not impressed. Arrogant showoffs don't get too far. But now we're at a stalemate. You can't kill me, and I have the inclination you wouldn't if you could. It is the same for me."

She didn't divert her eyes. How dare he think he know me. Or maybe he does, I have changed and I am not sure for the better. I am sure I should not let him no the difference.

She had a plan, maybe this would impress him of her new found strength.

She slide out of his grip, but with doing so she sliced her neck a bit. No bother it would heal soon. She looked at the nearby wall and ran up the side and bounced off it. She practically flew at David from the inertia and knocked him over. He landed on his back with a loud thump and sent dust flying in the air around them. She twisted herself up on her feet and sat on his abdomen, with her knife planted above his heart. It pierced through his outerwear. She leaned down close to him, her ends of her hair tinkling his face. She kissed him softly on the lips, her hot air mixing with his. Her eyes remained opened to watch his reaction. She jumped back up on her feet and stepped back a bit.

"Of course I wouldn't kill you, I would have to deal with an angel."

David's eyes narrowed to little more than slivers of evily glowing gold.

"Wench. You're no better than your sister." He said quietly, before the arm blade retreated to within his arm once more. "I'm not going to fight you anymore, it's not going to help either of us. You've got a dirty, effective way of fighting, which I like. But you've got no finesse. Plus you pulled your blows. Twice."

His wings folded themselves neatly behind him and he stepped outside of the rotting cabin.

She nodded at David, like she wanted to hear that. "Well, who said you can't test the teacher. I know I need some work, but really nothing happening with all this talk. I want action and now!" She flashed him a animal like grin and winked.

"There's a few essentials I feel you should master as soon as possible. First of all, there's feeding." He smiled thinly and ran a single long finger down one of her perfectly formed fangs. His smile extended, flashing his own broken fang. "You will be guided by instinct, as there is no precise way to describe it. Though you'll think me a fool for still treating you as nïeve, don't be frightened by any of the sensations that wash over you." His finger brushed down her neck, and lifted her chin. "Now go, and feed on something. You'll consume some of your victim's essence, so take your time, stalk your prey, and make sure it's worth the hunt. Maybe I'll even teach you a bit of Justika Korrupt later."

With those words, a burst of euphoria rippled through Katrina's nerves, draining her of precious energy and awakening the thrist for blood.

The rush seemed to increase her attention and sensitivity to everything. She could feel her own heart beat faster and harder. She could actually feel her appetite increase and saliva being produced in her mouth. She walked outside and into the surrounding forest. She saw a rabit within several seconds of walking. She saw its fluffy tail and bright eyes. The thought of eating it and raw, made bile come up her throat and into her mouth. She was so hungry, but her mind was telling her no.

She walked back to the cabin, thinking maybe time would take the edge off her thrist and it didn't.

She opened the door and walked in. She had nothing to say.

David smiled to himself, a cruel thin smile.

"It will only get worse with time, only pressing on you more and more. I'd get going if I were you." He said with his back to her as he inspected the collapsed staircase.

The vampire heard a dull thud and glanced outside. It appeared as though Katrina had succumbed to the bloodthirst rather acutely.

"Pity." He murmured.

'Yes, pity indeed.' The voice in his head agreed with jubilation rivalling the simple pleasures of a boy with candy. 'So...are you going to drain her yet? Don't you think she's deserving of it? She's pissed you off quite a bit, don't you think?'

"Just that time of month." He cackled to himself and turned her over.

One of her wings had been twisted abnormally when she fell, and now it swelled where it met her skin. A slight side effect of the wings having not yet fully grafted themselves into her body. It would heal quickly with a bit of an ache. David decided against helping the young woman out all that much. She'd have to find her vampiric instincts herself. Still, he wouldn't simply go back inside, and he surrendered to the idea of waking her. A light kick in the side was promptly delivered.

Black. Thump. Cough. Spit. Blood. Headache. Katrina rubbed her side and tried to lift her pounding head up. She opened her eyes and found David looking at her, she thought he looked like a statue, with no emotion and no life. She smiled at the thought. She wiped her mouth and saw blood smeared across her hand. Not good, she thought.

She glared at David, why isn't he helping me? Then it dawned on her, I need to do this on my own. It all made sense. He is more of a guide for me to follow, but he will not give me all the directions to go. She stood up, without saying a word to David, she ran off into the nearby forest.

She spotted a squirrel. She tried not to look at its dark eyes, pleading with her or its fluffy tail that stood up on edge. She tried to imagine it fighting against her and she needed to stop it. She tore into his skin, tough and furry. Then came the blood. Sweet and she opened her eyes to see her surroundings. They were as if she was on a hallucingen. All her senses extended and enhanced. She dropped the animal. Hearing its furr rub together from the wind. She laughed and it felt alien to her. Her headache, now gone. She catch a few other forest creatures and then she walked back.

David remained in the same spot and she walked into the house, not saying one word. I will let him guess.

David had smelled Katrina long before he saw her. Plain animal blood. No challenge. No benefit.

He stepped in behind her. "I told you to take your time. You gave in and drank weak blood. Thinking objectively under pressure is a skill you should have developed long before I brought you here." He slid a finger under her chin and anihillated her newly found energy. "Impetuous, impetuous little girl."

He laughed cruelly at the dimming of the glimmer in her eyes, and turned away again.

Katrina snapped at David, "Oh and I should be hurt by that? You should know that I still have some human in me, especially living with those damn creatures you just mold into them. Give me time. I won't need too much."

She felt a pull towards David and she was trying to figure it out. An attraction. Katrina had always been attracted to men, but this was like a bee to honey. She couldn't get away and she definitely couldn't stop the fanatsies.

She blushed slightly and diverted his eyes. Did he know her thoughts?

David spun back around and gave her a very deliberate, knowing glance before he spoke. Her blush had given it all away.

'Weakling.' He thought, but instead when he spoke, he smiled benevolently. "I understand. You have all the time you could ever need here. All will come in due time to you, and as you are finally beginning to realize, I'm not going to lead it to you."

He had a slight change of heart, and he returned the energy he had taken from her in full. He didn't need it anyway.

'Ah, but you want it, my friend...' The demon hissed in his mind.

EEK!

Katrina dropped her head. She was failing and all because she liked her food cooked. Just don't think about it, I guess.

"Why don't I just snack on some people," wondering if this was actually her talking, "instead of me having to kill inocent little animals.

"Besides I would like to be out in the community anyway. Or do I need to train first here?"

"There are no borders." He told her, placing a hand lightly on her shoulder. "Just keep the consequences in mind. Humans are practically defenceless against us alone, but together they pose as deadly a threat as any daemon lord. I don't want you getting hurt...yet. It will always be a part of your experiences, but you know I care, and pain this early is needless and a barrier to your further development."

He smiled benevolently again, and waited for her decision.
