Government Rising
The following message was sent to where ever it is likely that other nations will look at it:
'Greetings. As you may be (but probably aren't) aware, Arani came out of its civil war some ten years ago now, when the two battling governments destroyed each other. Since then the citizens of Arani have suffered greatly, but finally an organised force has arisen and we make our intentions clear in that we will rule Arani and return the once great nation to its former glory.
We, the First Council of Arani, are formed of those who managed to show leadership during a time when there was mostly anarchy, and as such we shall rule what we have managed to patch together by discussing it amoungst ourselves and deciding on the best course for Arani. With twenty-four members of the Council, we feel that we shall have enough input from various viewpoints to make decisions that will work for all the fragmented groups which have arisen since the fall.
Our military is reforming, many wish to join for the promise of a better life. Let no small upstart nations believe that we are vulnerable enough to be attacked for whatever reason. Any nation that seeks to meddle in our internal affairs shall, of course, be punished most severely. Or does that only happen to nations of six million?
We are interested in re-establishing ties with our former pre-war allies, and would be glad to make ties with any other nations, either small or large, of any style of government or race, or anyone at all really. Bad spelling and grammar by national spokesmen is all we discriminate against, we may not even mind the GDODAD anymore, assuming that such an alliance still exists. Let all be forgotten in the new age of Arani.
- The First Council of Arani'

The Empire and The First Council of Arani
Upon our official ruling of the Imperial Colony in the region of Nation States, Pacific Region, we found ourselves without friends here. Though we find no Nation as of yet even the remotest threat to us, it still has been our policy of relations to meet any new region with a smile and with friendship, allowing us to know our enemies from our foes. Whether for security, economic prosperity or any other sort of achievements that can be attained from it, we try to gain as many alliances as possible that may assist our thriving colony in its birth to what should never and most likely will never occur, its death.
This is why, upon official request from the Emperor himself, we, the nation of the Empire, people of the Imperia, ruler of the Greater Imperial Colonies, ruled by the Greater Imperial Might and His Divine Imperial Majesty, Emperor Marius De Romanus, humbly request an Alliance with an eager, growing nation who’s pains and existence we, as a nation and people, can relate to.
We await your reply.

The big man looked thoughtfully at the screen. Taking a large draw from his cheroot, Darius Steele considered the information before him. He was not in a habit of setting up diplomatic relations with anyone, as his business dictated he be as neutral as possible. Still, there was something about the Arani missive that touched a chord in Steele. He took another puff, and activated his comm-link. Loud, heavy music immediately becamme his world, the screeching guitars playing havoc with his system. Dialing down the volume, he spoke loudly.
"Rafe! Eyes front, boy!!"
A moment later, the music, if it could be considered as such by any civilized being, shut off. A few seconds later, Rafe began to speak.
"Uh, sorry Boss...but...well, Adam has just configured a hellagood sound system and we've been testing it..." Up until recently, "Adam" had been a small frigate, with a fairly advanced AI. Through events too bizarre to believe, the ship had recently become fully sentient, and possessing abilities that were a mix of science and supernatural. Having an Elven demon-spirit meld with your AI would do that, mused Steele.
"I need intel on Emperor Marius De Romanus, a place called Arani and something called the Imperium...and I need it yesterday."
"Yes, sir, I'm on it." replied Rafe, cutting off communications. Steele swivelled in his chair, and grabbed a glass and bottle from his bar, pouring himself a healthy dose of the murky brown liquid. He paid a lot of credits to have this bourbon imported, but it was one of the few pleasures he still had in life. He sipped it appreciatively, waiting to see what Rafe could find.

The Brotherhood welcomes the new government of Arani. May your rule be long and prosperous. Also, if you need any help in surpressing remnants of any pposing fractions or insurgents, feel free to call.
Semi-ooc:
Gawdly would easily have been able to find out that Arani are a nation made up mostly of drow, humans, and half-drow. The section of the Underdark which Arani inhabits is directly below the nation and island known as Fardinia (or was once known as Fardinia, whatever). There are several other islands surrounding Fardinia, two claimed by Blyclaaf, at least one by Derto. There are many ruins on many of these various islands, from various nations (Sith Rose, Neo Jurai, Mega Tau, and Imperfect Darth). Beneath the surface there are the remains of other underground ex-nations (Olath Valsharess, Blyclaaf).
Arani's last war was a civil one, which other nations got involved in because the guy who took over was an evil bastard. In this war Arani killed 150 million Blyclaafian people and destroyed subsurface Blyclaaf. Fardinia was also destroyed, its citizens were magically mutated into monsterous creatures which now roam about the desert wasteland which Fardinia has become. There was also a massive chemical attack on Derto.
But just after the Arani army destroyed that of Derto, Sinrë (rebel leader) attacked the capital Naraquil, and both sides were damaged beyond repair, after which Arani broke down. So Fardinia is now a desert-like wasteland, and Arani is just coming back from complete anarchy.

Message to Imperia:
'An alliance between us is certainly most welcome, but to what extent? We are eager to return to the world and team up with others to achieve our mutual goals, but what exactly are yours, so that we can better match them for the betterment of both our nations.'
Message to The Brotherhood of Nod:
'We are glad for an old enemy's support, and are glad to say that all elements of the previous governments managed to self destruct. Good luck to you in whatever your current ambitions are.'

"Ahhh, so Arani finally speaks to outside nations after ten years." Mr Gafety, a now older, wrinkled version of the man who vowed never to speak to Arani again.
"Yes sir, they're talking about re-allying themselves with us." one of the men walking beside answered him.
Mr Gafety stopped, his face turning red with rage. "That's absured, why tell me that if that's what they wanted!"
"Because alone, we are vunerable to anyones attack. We have two island colonies, the surface, aswell as the underground to protect incase of attack. We can't rally troops that quickly if they swarm us"
Mr Gafety looked at the two men and screamed at them "Fine, ally with them, don't look at me if they screw it up again! In fact, just let everyone back in with our people. That'll be fine. Go do it!"

The Empire and The First Council of Arani
The Empire seeks such an Alliance for its own sake, which we do not deny. We seek this Alliance for safety, trade and influence.
But by all means, this does derive the bond of an Alliance. It has been a long-standing policy of relations between the Empire towards our allies to limit the extent to which we must rely upon them, but never how much they rely upon us. We offer you safety, economic, social and international support in nearly every crisis. In an Alliance we support you for anything you do, even if it goes against our beliefs, and expect nothing more then for you to do the same for us, though we do accept, as we would, that a matter of unacceptable terms would be ignored as a position to support.
Our mutual goals. Well, the Empire exists in many realms, and it now exists in Nation States, it goal in this place is simply to establish its power and existence, not total domination, we do not see fit to contain that here, but simply put...our presence here is to assert the almost omnipotent power of the Empire and its colonies, as well as His Divine Imperial Majesty, in all manner to which we can.
The only thing we can offer you is unconditional friendship (to a degree that both our Nations would deem fit) and nothing more then recognition and help when we truly need it from our allies.

Somewhere in Arani:
"Mr Gafety can put his pride behind him, I am surprised," said Ilya, one of the Council members currently seated at the round table which served for their meetings.
"I hadn't thought it possible, myself. Still, we know him only by reputation, and his reputation has likely changed greatly since the end of the war. Maybe he has found it within himself to forgive and forget..." said Jaisten, who was seated to her right.
"Not likely," said a human from across the table. "Annilon sacrificed his daughter, remember? He probably holds that against us still. We need to approach this one cautiously."
"Surely we can trust Blyclaaf of all nations not to do something stupid? They fought beside us when Arani was invaded by the GDODAD," this from Jaisten.
"Trust them not to do something stupid? Are you stupid yourself? They sent a Messerschidt against F-22s. Not what I would call intelligent."
"Yes, well," broke in Ilya, who had often been mediating disputes during meetings. "An alliance is beneficial anyway. And even if Gafety does have some trick planned, there's not a thing we can do about it, so let's just send a message and be done."
*Transmission to Blyclaaf*
'Such an alliance can be rearranged, we are sure. However, we wonder if you, as we do, consider the AMND pact to be extinct? If so, then maybe reworking the exact details of an alliance would be more beneficial.'
*Transmission to Imperia*
'What you propose certainly sounds good from where we stand. Maybe a delegate can be arranged to meet with the Council? We would be most honoured to entertain anyone from the Empire in order to sign up a document, and make this alliance official, as well as hold talks on how to best go about making our mark upon this world.'

To the First Council of Arani
From the Foreign Ministry of Dor Daedoloth
It has been quite some time since we have had the pleasure of communicating with Arani in an official capacity. It's heartening to finally see Arani regain some semblance of governmental control. I wonder, if by means of a meeting, we could possibly discuss the First Council's policy stance towards the Five Kingdoms, seeing as once upon a time we used to be close allies. In light of various factors, and the fact that was like Arani, we'd like to see this trend continued. Please do not hesitate to contact us on the matter, as we're rather looking forward to hearing back from you.
--Jay Reaven
The debate had been going on for an hour already, and it was getting to a point where everything was being rehashed.
"We can't ally with Melkor! History proves him a traitor! And besides, his enemies are far more powerful!"
"Melkor is plenty powerful. And he would not betray us. What would be the point? The power of him versus his enemies is always up for debate. Last I remember, Melkor obliterated All Elves while the Menelmacari watched on. Melkor was clearly more powerful then."
"Yes, but we live in close proximity to Menelmacar, if we go to Melkor, we'll have an enemy just across the ocean."
And thus it continued, until Ilya stood up and called for silence.
"Look, how about we just talk to them, find out precisely what they want, and then figure out what's in our best interest. If we can ally with them without closing off the gate to the Menelmacari, all the better. And if a conflict arises, we simply choose what will give us the most gain. Simple."

Mr Reavan, we of the Council would be most interested in hearing what you have to say on this, and a meeting would be most welcome. However, we fear that our limited transportation restricts the venues in which such a meeting can be held. Still, suitable accommodations can be made in Arani or on the surface at your preference. We look forward to such a meeting, and hope it shall benefit us both.

Colonel Briggs stood out on the old docks made on the Northern coast of Surface Old Blyclaaf, which has been renamed Evangel.
"I don't like this one bit. Arani as our ally again. It just doesn't seem right."
"Look, sir, I share your concern. Now we have to discuss with them what is to happen with Fardinia." Captain Kilminster told him, as he threw a rock into the water where a cruiser had been sunken during the Aranian Civil War.
"What about Fardinia?" Colonel Briggs asked as he turned to look at the younger Captain.
"Well, there have been rumours passed down from the Commanding Officer of the Airbourne unit that 'conquered' S8in, that Mr Gafety is considering doing something with the spare land on Fardinia, sir."
The Colonel turned back to the water, and looked down at his feet.
"Please let them settle it peacefully this time" he whispered into his chest.
