Schultaria Prime
07-09-2004, 23:42
The primary languages of the Nation of Schultaria Prime (outside of modern English) are the languages of Schultarian Alphabetic and Schultarian Symbolic.

Schultarian, for the most part, is based on a collection of multiple words found commonly in the modern world. However, the Schultarian language is also some what limited and confusing to the casual speaker as multiple words are often collected into one unifying word with different inflections.

A few examples:

Conprodish (Implies the concept of manufacturing for most speakers, although it relates to such ideas as native-built technology.)

Kerga (Offensive War / Weaponry)

Kamor (Defense / Protection / Security)

Nakaaga (Thought / Computation / Philosophy)

-----

Any foreigner who attempts to read Schultarian Symbolic is nearly always doomed to failure; not because they lack the necessary intelligence to read the symbols (their meanings are usually straightforward enough to understand), but because they do not think like Schultarians. Schultarian Symbolic is a thought implied language, that is, you need to share some experience or history with the writer in order to completely understand the written word.

A small example of Schultarian Symbolic: Our Country's Name:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v352/emschultz/SchultariaSP.jpg

Written Schultarian is composed of three major sections, the inital declaration, one underlying series of implication punctuation marks, and a closing series of punctuation marks.

The first seven symbols of this particular piece of writing declare the word, either usually by what actions are performed by the thing in question or by its perceived history in Schultarian Culture.

The implication punctuation, as seen in the fifth symbol from the right (two dots), are a series of punctuations that include derivations of time, space, or personalization.

The closing punctuation (last five symbols) is categorized into two separate areas: the pronouncement and the reverence. The pronouncement (what looks like offset quotations) usually states a conjunction (Schultarians only use three: and, or, and I state), while the reverence (which would look like open dots or large periods) states the emotional impact of the object which usually truly defines the word.

Every Forcelian is proficient in English, Latin and Dutch. However they prefer using telepathy to communicate with others.
Greenskinz
07-09-2004, 23:48
The Orks, trolls, smorts and off-shoot species that make up the collective known as the Greenskinz speak a primitive, guttural language variously called Orkish and Greenspeak. Like human languages, dialects can vary widely from tribe to tribe, species to species. Unlike most human languages though, Greenspeak seems to consist more of grunts and punches than actual words.

High Orcs
08-09-2004, 01:10
The majority of the High Orcish Clans are, in fact, not the race called the High Orc. As the Palladium Lesser Orcs speak a tongue known as Gobblely, a language developed by Goblins and Hob-Goblins and adapted to the Orcs, ogres, and Trolls of the world to unify themselves. It is a derivation of Dragonese, the oldest language in Palladium which the Elves stole to use as their language.

However, High Orcs are all schooled to be fluent in Gobblely, but are also fluent in Orcish, the original language that they taught themselves during their slavery to be used as Generals in the Palladium Elven Armies against the Dwarves that raged several millenia. Orcish was a dead language after Balraga. No one remembered it when the High Orcs disappeared. It is but a fragment of a lost culture that the High Orcs use. It also serves to benefit the strict class system in the culture as only High Orcs speak it (though Lesser Orcs of privilidge, such as Belca Bristtleback, speak it as well). It allows the High Orcish Generals to speak to each other without being disturbed.

Several of the Chieftains also have taken to learning HumanSpeak as well. They do not recognize mankind as an honorable beast, but know that they are vicious animals to enslave this creation as such. What they refer to the ENglish Dialect of HumanSpeak is the most used language internationally, perhaps universally. Definite 'politicians,' as they could be called, such as the EnheilRas, PunRas, and GihaelChum can speak such a language. Most of the Dark Circle carry the incantation Tongues, which allows them to speak fluently in every language for the duration. Otherwise, they only speak Orcish, since only High Orcs are allowed in the Clan.

The Tolkienite Orcs have been favorful in teaching Black Speech and Quenya, but are forbidden to speak it (a law they don't really have a problem with). Most are happy to learn gobblely, as they feel it is a language more suited to their species. They feel united with the clans they work with (not work for), and there is a stronger sense of community.

Malre
08-09-2004, 02:26
Well, the people of Malre speak a bastardization of the english language, it's pretty much english, but with some very irregular pronunciations. They don't usually follow any rules, but there's a few. In a word that ends in 'ne', the ne is pronounced 'nya'. For example, bone, would be pronounced bone-ya. J is usually either pronounced as a ch or zs sound. (zs is sorta like the j in the german word 'ja'.). Z is usually pronounced as a ts or s sound. Pretty much, you'd need to learn how to pronounce each word individually, as there are very few set rules on that.

But other than that, it's English.

(If anyone wants more examples on how odd it is, these are names of some provinces and cities, and how they're pronounced: Reihll (ril), Trad (chad), Zona (jon-ya), Jans (chance), Milne (mill-nya)... you get the idea.)
Callisdrun
08-09-2004, 02:36
We speak Callisdrunian, an eclectic mix of old Norsk and Hungarian. It's nearly incomprehensible, so everyone is taught a second language (usually English) from an early age. Some people take third or fourth languages as well.
Nianacio
08-09-2004, 02:50
OOC: Nianacio's primary language is not a RL language, although it does draw from RL languages. I think Western Dani would be a good primary source of vocabulary, but I don't know any words in that language. :D My current name for the language is Lanida.
Chinese is Nianacio's secondary language, because we got control of China a while ago.
