OOC: Hitman-style RP signup

OOC: Surprised at the number of people who haven't played the Hitman series of games in the IRC channel, I'm forced to go here in search of recruits.

I need at least one other nation for this thing. Before you decide to jump in, you must agree by two terms:

1: A government-related VIP from your country (it doesn't have to be a government official, at least an offspring or significant other of an official) must die. This is important to the story, which I will explain later.

2: The hitman I'm controlling cannot die, at least not until the very end (at best, not at all). I don't care if there's a confrontation with the hitman, or if you place a non-fatal, non-paralyzing, easily-healed shot on him (like the leg or something), as long as he doesn't get killed until I want him to.

Providing you're willing to go by those rules, and you have decent RPing skills (and I will check, if you're new, I'll still consider you), you can be the opposing nation in this RP. Here's the basic story line. This is going to be a gritty and somewhat mature RP.

A VIP from your country is visiting Benderland for whatever reason (diplomatic relations, night on the town, etc.) and is staying in secured lodging, either a high-end hotel or an embassy, your choice. The VIP is killed by the hitman, who was hired by a rogue general in Benderland's military. The general is attempting to incite a war in order to draw attention away from his plans to form a splinter cell terrorist group. Later on a second assassination attempt will occur on one of my government officials. I'm not going to give away the outcome of that because that's around where the plot twist occurs, but rest assured the hitman will have a role in exposing my general's master plan.

Keep in mind I have no interest in actually starting a war, but we can get pretty damn close.

Who could you RP as, aside from the obvious VIP? Well, you could be security in the hotel/embassy where the VIP gets assassinated, any sort of leaders in your government that would react to this, news crews, hell even if you have an idea of someone from your nation that was in cahoots with my General, that would make it even more interesting! Whatever floats your boat.

So post away. Just keep in mind my nation is robotic, and is obviously future-tech. I don't have problems RPing with nations of other time lines, just please no fantasy stuff.

How about a Fantasy/SciFi nation? Partly based on Dungeon Keeper.

Mr 47 vr. Horny...that would be a good fight.

OoC: The only restriction on nation type is fantasy-type nations.

What I'm going to be stressing most in this RP is the quality. I'm sick of getting in boring RP's, where nations leave 5-line or less posts. Those should never be done unless it's absolutely fitting.

question. Does the nation of the dead VIP know that he was killed by a hitman? Because if they do...I call dibs on the hitman hired to kill the rogue hitman.
Benderland
06-09-2004, 03:35
OOC: Yes and no. The opposing nation can find out it was an assasination, but they can't know who it is. They can come to their own assumptions of if it was a hired killer, terrorist, a nutjob, etc.

btw, you just joined this month, I wouldn't allow you to RP in this. Besides, you didn't even read the first post thuroughly. The general has gone rogue, the hitman is just doing his job.

OOC: Will this involve only one other nation besides yourself?
Benderland
06-09-2004, 03:46
OOC: There may be a chance for other nations aside from myself and the opposing nation to join in, but it's hard to tell how this would work.

Keep in mind I haven't chosen who will be the the opposing nation, and from the posts of yours I have read, you seem like the best contender so far.

OOC: Roger that. The position for the opposing country has been filled, I'll get the story thread started either tonight, or by tomorrow, depending on how well the forum is going to agree with us.

The RP will be semi-closed. If you have any ideas on another way to join in as of now, or get any during the RP, leave a post here or TG me, and I'll see if you're able to fit in somehow.

Benjamin Ordo, Senior Reporter for the Benderland Times, Crime Beat.

Ben is close to retirement, and a tip from a friend on the police force leads him to what he hopes will be his last big story, the killing of the VIP. He will do the things that an investigative reporter would do, and as an RPer, I will take my lead from your storyline. Ben is disposable, so you can kill his family if he gets too close, or torture him, hold him hostage or outright kill him if you like.

Let me know what you think. Advanced Search "Gawdly" for other RP's I'm involved in. Thanks for your consideration.

That might not be a bad idea, actually. Perhaps after the hit, Ben could leak the info on it to the public. The Benderland government will try to keep it under wraps.

Ok, and when I need background info that you have, I'll write something like...

"Ben was getting closer, and he knew that another key to the puzzle was to find out who was manipulating the stockholders portfolio's. All he needed now was to get the names of the board members of XYZ Corps, and find out if anyone of them had a reason to see (Dead VIP Name) murdered. He lit another cigarette, and rubbed his red, tired eyes. It had been along night for Ben, and there were many more ahead."

Then you could telegram me the appropriate info. You can even use your influence to get the Editor to try and squash the story, or fire Ben...endless possibilities. I'm ready to start anytime, and can post at least once a day.

Hey, I would like to send one of my diplomates. Her name is Rayne Devaro, she is the younger sister to Lady Sapphire, who is the current leader of AmandaTheGreat, but is away for several reasons, so Rayne is taking over some of the minor responsibilites such as contact with other nations for furtherment of peace. I know that most of my work is fanasty, yes I know you don't want that, but I do have several characters that are just regular humans, with obvious or sometimes not obvious flaws.

Here is the address to the picture of my character otherwise I can just describe her in text...

OOC:

Other than the aforementioned VIP nation, will there be room for others?

The character I'm starting to RP as (CT Turner) was inspired by Mr. 47, while playing the most recent installment of the series, Contracts. All the fun of the original, with less difficulty & better graphics than the second one.

OOC: There isn't room for another Hitman, sorry. Also, I thought Contracts definately did loosen up the paranoid guards from HM2, however the Hits became more complex, escape routes became more elusive as the levels progressed, and the Hitman takes more damage. I had much more trouble getting Silent Assassin in the later levels, and even beating the final one without getting filled with lead by SWAT. It took me a few times to figure out just how to get the hell out of the room safely. Perhaps the game's length (12 missions, as compared to the 20 in HM2) makes it seem easier.

OOC; The fact that there are so few new missions really pissed me off. I mean almost half of the missions were just rebuffs from the first one... Sure they gave you new ways to complete them, but come on... I wanted something new... I'd understand if they redid a couple of missions and put them as bonus levels but the game relies too much on the rehashed levels. It's also really short. I finished it in 20 hours or so... with silent assasin levels for most of them and 1 or 2 proffesionals.

Hey how about another hitman like in the game... another hitman sent to kill your guy... who of course fails...

OOC:

CT's just going to be a basic fuck-up through his first few hits, so there'll be no competition to speak of. I'm just looking to introduce myself to the RP scene.

I've got Silent Assassin rating on Cheng Chau Massacre (Fish Resturant) & the first level, I'm enjoying the dual Glocks & the CZ2000's (CT's weapon of choice)

I enjoyed the re-hashed levels, myself. They had a certain nostalgic feel to them, while being a bit more playable. HM2 forced me to rely on the strategy of shooting everything that I came across while sneaking around, as the guards usually spotted me right off if I stole a uniform.

OOC: Sorry, no other hitmen in the RP.

By the fish restaurant, do you mean the one where you have to leave the amulet at the hit scene? After figuring out the trick with the car alarms, that mission became much more doable. The best way to achieve SA on that level is to hit both your targets with one bullet, which can sometimes be tricky.

I wouldn't allow myself to continue unless I got SA. That's what took me much logner. However, once it was done, I sure enjoyed going back and playing through the missions without worrying about SA. Also, I was able to get the minigun by going back to the first level and unlocking the door with the keycard.

Dual weapons are cool, however they require you to fire at least 2 bullets. That's a waste for SA. I preferred single silenced pistols, the silenced Baller being my favorite. A lot of punch. But I was disappointed in the way the silenced Baller and the dual Silenced Ballers looked in this game. In HM2, they were all mirror-finished silver. Quite symbolistic. In this one, they had those ugly black silencers.

Nothing quite compares to slowly strolling into an area while guards are rushing through the doors, and capping them before they have a chance to fire with salvos of bullets from your dual Ballers.

I simply dropped the pair of Silverballers in the bathroom, shot the negotiator in the back of the head with the surpressed one, and went through the motions with the police chief & the lotus guy. A quick burst of gunfire & both died. I simply walked out the front door, and to the exit point, unchallenged.

I quickly ran to the north end of the map where a sewer exit was, and wired the negotiator as he stood there with his back turned to me. After picking up the amulet, I got my suitcase again and ran to the other side of the map, up some bamboo scaffolding which had a clear view of the restaurant's 2nd floor window. From there I was able to get 2 headshots with 1 bullet. At that point, all you had to do is shoot the car closest to the east side of the reastaurant to get past the guards guarding the basement, run into the basement and get the chef's out fit, and sabotage the gas. Then quickly run up and out, shoot the car to the west of the restaurant to distract the guards, pick the lock on the kitchen door, sneak upstairs, place the amulet at the two targets, and exit the way I came in.

You can't climb to the second floor bathroom unless you distract the guards using the western car alarm, nor can you walk around the restaurant without alerting any cops that may wander in without wearing the chef's outfit. Even after putting that on, you can't be spotted by the bartender or else he'll go beserk, the disguise doesn't fool restaurant employees. And you can't be wearing your regular outfit inside the restaurant because the cops go nuts.

They don't attack you if your dressed as the red dragon member even after you killed the blue lotus and the police chief with the sniper... so sneaking past the guards is pretty easy... and no extra gunshots are necessary besides the one sniper shot...

That's odd. I always caused a stir waring the red dragon outfit. I still managed to achieve Silent Assasin using the car alarm tactic.

Hey guys, this is like my third forum post and probally the only one anyones read yet.

I'd like to be a part of the RP. As far as experience goes, i've done quite a few RP's on Warcraft 3, but besides that i have nothing to vouch for my skills. Still, i hope ya'll give me a chance.

For what i can offer to the RP, my nation of Lumpana has an interesting relationship with assasins and spies. Lumpana broke off from a dying dictatorship twelve years ago, and as the former country disaporated many of its KGB-eske operatives found themselves on a new frontier. Since then most of them have joined the mafia or other criminal organisations, but the new Lumpana goverment has grown closer to them in the last years. In exchange for their aid many of them have built themselves a new allie in the goverment, who uses them as mercenaries on the outside but pays them well, arms them accordingly, and provides them with safe refuge.

What you might want to consider for your Rp is the assasin adventually seeking saftey in Lumpana for some time. He might want to lie low here for a while after being invited by the crime syndicates, only to find them trying to force him into a new contract killing or something.

Or not, either way id like to help out in the RP however i can,

Btw, i really like Hitman Contracts. I've only rented it once for a week, and only got to the mission where you kill the guys at the U.N. sumit. I think my favorite part of the game so far was the mission where the swat are after the terrorist on the boat. Disguising myself as a Swat guy and aiding them in their attack was awesome, but taking the nuclear detonater as a trump card and walking out of the Swat attack was a great element.

OOC: This RP isn't going to focus soley in the Hitman. There's only a handful of RPed characters, but they all have a very large role in the story. The Hitman is not going to seek safety in another country, since the General will ask him for another hit relatively soon.
