Does anyone else do this? I use Final Fantasy X/X-2 characters in my government. Heck, Yuna's going to be the future Kaiserine (Queen) of Sevaris.

Well I thought about it but i figured that the anime's I like would get the chars laughed at (all Shojo manga's). So I figured that i'd go with my ability to change names in ways that work and using book names when I couldnt think of any more of the alter'd names.

Well I use Gendou Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion as the head of my Evangelion Corps, though I call him Gendou Ida, just to be different, but the pic and the man are the same.

Also I use J-Pop idol Ayumi Hamasaki as a Lord Admiral in the Imperial Crossmanian Navy.

I also use the character Junpei from the Megatokyo online comic as one of my naval captains. Though he still has his 1337 ninj4 skillz!!!

Comrade General Secretary of 1 Infinite Loop is a 4 foor tall Lizard from the World War series by Harry Turtledove.

I don't actually use any existing anime/manga/game characters in my nation, but there is a decided influence with designs, characters, and some story elements from:
-Megaman series (X in particular, given my nation's leader is a reploid)
-Starfox (Take a good look at the "Elite Victory" fighters.)
-Anime in general (My nation has a small cat-people population.)
-The Shogunate has occasionally been refered to as "The Otakudom of Reploid Productions" due to the fact a sizeable chunk of the population are fans of Japanese animation. (Hell, little over a year ago, my nation held an anime convention, AniCon 1, on the NS forums =p)

Didnt realise that there were otakus in the game? I thought it would have been obvious with Gundams as my natinal animal and generic energy blasts as my currency, that and all the Anime related regions

Being an otaku and having seen more anime than anyone else at my school aside from my friend Kelsey, I couldn't not have anime people. All of my character pics have been anime. Every single one of them.

And correct you are... I should have used one of Shishio's attacks....

But really, anime characters are often used here. And there are several theories,

a. Anime characters look cool
b. They are overstatements of human states of being, they fit our NS characters
c. It is easier to use an anime character without it affecting you nation (e.x. You use an image of Hitler as your democratic left-wing president.... some one is going to notice and comment, you use a picture of Saito Hajime, no one will really notice)
d. We are all geeks, and some of us are anime geeks
e. Anime characters are cool

If those are the best you've got, you might as well roll out the red carpet and invite an army over so you can hand over the reigns of leadership.

A good sized chunk of my military is vehicles from Mobile Suit Gundam, Zaku Kais and Hy-goggs were my nation's grunts until we started production of a custom line of MS I call the Kuwagata series (send me a telegram if you want to see them), and Vash the Stampede used to be be my president.

Heh heh. I've got a major otaku in one of my classes in college. She walked in, purple hair, anime style school girl/ sailor shirt, very short skirt, the long baggy socks, the whole nine yards. Here she's a japanese translation major. I think I was the only one in class that wasn't scared or confused by her. I thought she looked hot.

Well, personally, I wrote a book (or a lot of unassembled fragments of a massive book; damn, it's gonna take a while) and used characters from that to create my entire nation. I chose Miratha because it's completely loony and sadistic.

Mayor Kabapus: Used to be a real person, but was eaten from the inside by pure evil. Despite being the most powerful creature in existence, he is absolutely insane.
Morkath, The Secretary: Servant to Kabapus. His entire race (excluding him) was killed because they dressed like executioners. Makes great cookies.
How the Hell Miratha got into our World: Some loony ("Dark Gyl'than") created something that allowed warp between time, space and plane of existence. Kabapus is a good friend of Dark Gyl'than.

The Evangelion is my country's national animal.
Hence all effort to preserving the forests they live in so they don't frolic somewhere less convenient like on my cities.

You're point being? And an army of Leos or Virgos, or anything but the Gundams themselves look more imposing since they are all uniform. Like imaging like a hundred Wing Gundams in formation...Too colorful for my standards...It's like seeing 100 soldiers in a flowery hats compared to 100 soldiers in military helmets...

Ayumi Hamasaki is my favorite! But it is getting too costly trying to import all her albums from Japan once they are released...Utada Hikaru is my second favorite!
