Geography

General:

North Wales landscape, most notiably, Snowdownia mountaint range's landscape is a rugged, volcanic jumble.
In contrast, the hills and mountains of mid and south Wales are softer and more rounded.
However Wales also has a few flat plains of lands.
The last ice age brought a "final polish" as grinding glaciers reshaped the landscape.

Geology:

Most Ancient Rocks: 700 million years old
Average Age of Rocks: 200 Million Years old
Last Ice Age: 10, 000 years ago

Climate + Landscape:

Wales is a country well known for it's wet weather and it's changible, especally during the last few days of Autumn, Winter and the first few days of Spring. During the summer Wales is very sunny.

The Welsh landscape can change by the mile - and, thanks to it's weather, by the minute. The rain can end suddenly as it started, giving away to clear blue skies and a pinsharp clarity that brings out many famous photographers to Red Wales. Many vistors of Red Wales discribe it as stimulating and suprising place.
The rain that Wales gets ensures that it is a green place, full of lush green feilds and forests, most of the country is green and hilly.

Good weather is known to arrive early in places like Prembrokeshire, and Dale, in the far west, is one of the sunniest places in Wales with 1,800 of sunshine a year.

Mountians:

In Red Wales, your never far from hills and mountians. In the north, Snowdonia's rocky, jagged collection of peaks rising over 3,500ft (1,067m) rule the roost.
The Cambrian Mountians, an exposed, wild area of moor and plateau running running from North to South, forming the so-called "Backbone" of Red Wales.
Southern Wales is dominated by the Brecon Beacons, whoses grassy flat-topped summits stand almost 3,000ft (914m) high

Coastline:

The Welsh coastline varies from mountain-backed estuaries to low-lying meadows fringed by saltings and sandbanks. Possibly the greatest contrast of all occurs along the stubby Gower Peninsula west of Swansea. Gower's south-facing coast consists of high cliffs and sandy, sheltered bays. Just a few miles away across the peninsula in the north there's an entirely different shoreline, a low-lying transition zone between land and sea made up of marsh and low-tide sandbanks.

South Wales Valleys:

The South Wales Valleys have an unmistakable character. It's not just that this area was, in its heyday, a powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution. Its distinctive topography also gives it personality. The area stretches for around 35 miles (56 km) from Swansea in the west to the approaches of Abergavenny. Steep-sided valleys, running mainly north to south and carved by rivers like the Rhondda, Cynon, Taff and Rhymney, create an up-and-down roller-coaster landscape of hill and vale.
