Vote for IOC Members

The second stage of the IOC membership campaign now begins: the election of the candidates for the IOC. Since the polls can only hold ten choices, however, and there are 10 candidates, we will unfortunately have to make this an open ballot. If you wish to make your vote confidential, I think it is possible to post without logging in... I will check that to be sure.

So here are all of the candidates for membership in the International Olympic Committee:

Hersfold
Mikitivity
Svetsonvilleland
Milkshak
Castillanos
Vilita
Starblaydia
Krytenia
Webombu
Esth
Kochbald
New Zambuda
Tomzilla
Menelmacar
Callisdrun

This vote will remain open for one week - it will close at 3:30 PM EDT (7:30 PM GMT) on August 6, 2004. At that time, the 7 highest-voted nations will be asked to take the oath of office and be inducted into the International Olympic Committee. Candidates may withdraw from the vote at any time. In that event, all collected votes will be nullified. In the event of a tie for 7th place, I will figure out a tie-breaker thingie. Each nation may only vote once. CANDIDATES MAY VOTE FOR THEMSELVES - I do not care. Any other questions, let me know.

Let the vote begin.

Dang. I apologize, but all votes posted here will have to be open. I just tried to post without logging in, and it failed. If you do wish to have a confidential vote, you may telegram me with your vote and I will add it to the count without your name. I am sorry if this makes anyone uncomfortable, but I really see no other way to do it - the polls will not hold enough options.

You Can post an open poll here: http://aoforum.3wide.com ; in the "Off Topic Discussion" or "General Discussion" forum, and that will allow you to list in upwards of 30 choices if needed.

I thought about using a off-site forum for a vote, but that involves people registering there, which may not be something they want to do for a possible one-time thing. With the actual members of the IOC, I would consider it acceptable, as you will be there for some time. But as for here, they are already registered, and an option does exist for confidential votes. If you wish to be REALLY confidential with that, you can create a puppet for the sole purpose of voting, but that's not overly recommended. Not only does it use a possible nation name, it uses server space and wastes your time. So unless 5 of us suddenly resign, I think this may be the only way to do it...

Grrr... I need to register to start one at least, and it's still not letting me even though I have. I think I may have to recieve that validation e-mail, but I need to know the e-mail it's being sent from to let it through.

It's still being a little screwy.

I have reconsidered what we are going to do for the polls. I will split the elections into two separate ballots, each with about the same number of candidates (I know with 15 this is not quite possible - one will have 8, the other 7.) Each nation will actually have two votes, one for each ballot. The 7 highest-elected candidates from both ballots combined will be inducted.

Ballot 1 (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=353519)
Ballot 2 (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=353521)
