All activity related to the first Bribery World Cup will take place in this thread. The signups are over, and the 16 participants have been ranked according to their per-capita GDP and tax rate:

The decimal numbers, not the ranks, will be used in the score generator to decide scores (higher numbers are better).

The tournament will be split up into 7 rounds. Each round will take 2 days. On the first day, the score for each team's match will be TGed to the appropriate nations, and the scores will be posted in the thread on the second day. RPing is encouraged and will be rewarded with an RP bonus, which will increase your rank points for future matches. The Progressan side is comprised entirely of ultra-capitalists who refuse to diverge their identity in case they are murdered by the socialist parts of the press. They are all playing under the name 'Kak Krazy' officially, and only their squad numbers appear on their kit.

It is rumoured that journalists from, and readers of, the left-wing anti-sport paper The World Today are planning invasive protests to stop the Bribery World Cup taking place; however, the match against Svetsonvilleland, expected to be a doddle on a football and monetary level, is not believed to be under threat.

With Brown Paper Bags, Anti-trust, Insider Trading, Fraudulent Dealings, Presidental Pardons and Slush Funds all proving ineffective in the Oddslavo/Starblaydia match, it was 0-0 After Extra Bribes, and went down to the dreaded sudden-imprisonment Penalty-Bribe.

With each team armed with fat stacks of cash, the heat was on to see who could land the most wads into the lap of Aidan Ford, Uber-Bribemeister of the CHSE.

In a tense contest, Starblaydia's group of Traders held their nerve, landing four of their five bribes in the back pocket of the Head Trader, giving them victory over the Oddslavo Fraudsters.

National Bribery Team Takes Out BlackWolf Order, Advances To Second Round
COMMERCE HEIGHTS, CT - The Capitalizts, the nation's first official bribery team, played a mostly-defensive game in the first round of the Bribery Wolrd Cup, winning 1-0 over The BlackWolf Order. Capitalizt forward John Sheppard bribed the acting uber-bribemeister (Aidan Ford refused to participate in a Capitalizt match) from Insane Inflation with a massive §5, making the score 1-0. When they realized that The BlackWolf Order had no idea how to play, the Capitalizts started running around the exchange until the clock reached 90 minutes. The easy victory helped boost the team's confidence in their abilities, which they will probably need for their next match against Liverpool England.

Insane Inflation lost against Lovisa

English:
Insane Inflation had the better start. The 1:0 lead was awarded due to their attempts to give the organisators a suitcase full of notes with many zeroes. Unfortunately, Lovisa asked for a recount of the value after the time and since the value of the TIY decreased, and would be lower than the costs to exchange them into simoleons, Lovisa were awarded a 2:1 lead.

Lovisian:
Lovisian team won 2:1. Lovisa better than Insane Inflation and no longer all matches lose.

Team leader Eric Nevarraes stalked in front of his be-suited comrades in bribes. "That was a piss-poor performance today, children! Granted, our money didnt even show up, and we didnt really know the rules, BUT THATS BESIDE THE POINT! We WILL win this next round and come back to take it all! "

"The game plan is simple! First off, tonight Smitty'll head out and bribe the refs. This way, they wont notice Our Master Plan. We're a bunch of trained killers, and we're going to use our training! When those bastards start bribing, we're going to turn around and bribe behind their backs! And then...if one of them seems to be moving rather quickly or doing too well...we shoot 'em! With the ref's tipped, they wont notice! We'll be golden!"

Smitty raised his hand. "Uh, sir, should I bribe the media too?"

"Yeah, sounds good..Alright Team..BREAK!"

A comfortable 3-1 victory over Svetsonvilleland, a hat-trick for one striker attained courtesy of a K1.1m handout, put the Progressans on track in the Bribery Cup. Starblaydia are the next opponents, and should be much tougher; however, it remains unclear if their undoubted riches are to be used for bribes.

Liverpool England Bribe Big: 3-1 win over Replicators easily achieved

It is unknown if all the referees at the Bribery WC are from Insane Inflation, however, it was good fortune that Liverpool England's match had an II referee, making it very easy to win. As clearly seen, Replicators did not know anything, and communist midfielder Hy Juana gave Replicators the lead by stealing money from the ref, instead of giving money. However, ultracapitalist Giannis Fromolowitsz bribed the II referee with a total of 15 TIY to secure victory.

The Insane Inflation Nationals managed to numerically outbribe the BlackWolf order in a rather spectaular way: Since the referee is from the country with the most inflated currency, Halfslaniedstates, he had no trouble to accept the TIY as a stable currency. Well, you would do it too if the prices in your country triple daily and in Insane Inflation only rise by 30%. The BlackWolf Order has deflation, but exactly that was the fact why the referee didn't trust it. A real currency loses value, well, according to him any currency does. That was the reason why the numerically higher value, 1000 trillion TIY, gave the Insanians a 3-0 advantage against the 10,000 El-Em-Gee from the opponents.

There are rumours that the insanians tried to increase their chances for the next match by "encouraging" the Commerce Heights officials to send a again a Halfslanied ref for the Transoxiana match. But of course, all accusations were denied. This means virtually nothing since a denial is often nothing more than an attempt to get the tooth paste back into the tube.

"But, Sir, they lost to the Progressans on Penalty Bribes."

"Don't be silly, I saw the result. Of course I deleted the Telegram immediately after receiving it, so I don't quite remember the result, so put the winnings from my last match on a 3-1 win for Starblaydia against Slanibank."

"But you don't have any winnings, Sir."

"Great, its settled then, my KP winnings will accumulate faster than the Zero's are added on a Totally Inflated Yen note."

After the drama of penalty bribes against Starblaydia, two extra-bribes proved sufficiently large to overwhelm the goalkeeper/bank manager of Mattemis thus earning a 3-1 win. The semi-final, against Marligantis, could be very interesting, and extra funds are being released for this game. The danger, however, remains a final against top-ranked hosts Commerce Heights.
