Your nations legends
Cherry Ridge

One of CR's biggest legends, and citizens worst fears are of the unknown creature that lurks the woods and forsest. We have harmony with them, but if we make them mad they will attack with the person ever seeing them. We call them, Those we dont speak of (rip off from The Village).
What are your nations legends
Temme doesn't have any legends like that, but here, Snow White was a union rep and her stepmother was a CEO of a corporation.

Most of Palladia's legends are about great heroes, especially Samurai and other ancient war heroes. The most famous one involves the origin of our chief military leader, the Palladiate, or at least where the title came from.
In "short", a long time ago, actually around 800 years ago, the Ninjao empire came to an end on our world. For the uninitiated, Ninjao was an oppressive, racial supremist and all-around evil empire that spanned the world. The Ninjaons themselves were technologically-superior refugees from a dead planet. Anyway, they were obviously not well-liked, and when their grip began to fail, the many nations of our world banded together against the Ninjao home island, the site of their shps' landing and capital city. It is historically documented that most of the world (using Ninjaon weapons technology) allied together and beat the pulp out of Ninjao, completely bombing their capital into rubble. According to legend, while the city fell around them, a brave Palladian warrior fought the Ninjaon Imperator hand-to-hand in his Citadel tower, supposedly unleashing energy that created a parallel dimension (site of many more legends). Somehow he made it out alive and began a long line of noteworthy warriors and Samurai. About 450 years ago that line was chosen to lead the Unified Palladia with the title "Palladiate". Since then, the Palladiates have been alleged reincarnations of the first (who was, according to mythos, a reincarnation of the warrior that defeated the Ninjao Imperator). Today, Palladiate is a title given to whoever is in the Big Chair, regardless of family history.
The Legendary Samurai still continues in modern times, as the Shoguns that lead the Technate's ground forces make their best efforts to be heroic and make their ways into the history books and ... other books.

Everyone in the Orion Sector knows of James Foxx. James was a real person back in the time of the Machina Wars who pretty much saved humanity in the Sector. After 20 straight years of war, and the humans loosing to the opposing Machines, James Foxx took control of a small group of soldiers won a battle against horrible odds. Because of this, more and more humans joined him, and in 5 years, he led humanity and destroyed the Machina threat. He was also the first true Emperor of the Steel Empire. While the records are exact of what he truely did, obviously stories give him even more accomplishments.
Kamirrin

The Kamirrin legends deal mainly with the journeys and adventures of small bands of warriors, the most famous of them being The Band of Kel-Marrgh.
Other legends deal with the existance of supernatural beings. We do not fear them or worship them, but they are a good reminder that nothing is as it seems in our world.
Buechoria
26-08-2004, 06:00
Elias Virka is the biggest national hero in Buechoria. In 1812, he led the Germanic people who had once independantly lived in Buechoria, until the Rejunes Empire conquered them, to their first taste of freedom by defeating Rejunes at the battle of Seareon. But the victory was short lived, as thousands upon thousands of Rejuni troops sailed the small channel from Rejunes and Buechoria and reconquered Seareon and any other towns that had been liberated. Elias and his men had fled to the area which is now modern day Virka and built a strong stone fort to repel any attack. For many years it suceeded, but in 1824 it was captured and Elias was hanged in front of all who lived near the fort as a lesson. But it was in vain, as the spark Virka has started soon grew into a raging fire as in 1982 Buechoria was finally liberated during a revolution. The current capital of Buechoria has been aptly named "Virka" and is the home of his world-famous fort.

Vastiva was founded in 1113 by the Ayyubid (Moorish) Prince Fafin’ad Sahir’ al-Din. His fleet of ships, having set course for Edessa suffered tragic and unforeseen difficulties as their chief navigator was killed in a freak storm and most of his equipment rendered useless. The fleet sailed onwards, guided by the sole remaining navigator, an apprentice named Kilij Arslan. Unfortunately, Kilij was unskilled and the fleet sailed into a land of inhospitable ice and snow. Supplies exhausted, Fafin was forced to make landfall and search for supplies.
Legend has it the Prince had nearly given up hope when he spotted a small golden-furred feline among some scrub brush. Tracking the animal, he came across a small pond, well stocked with fish. His men used nets to gain their fill, saving them from starvation and gaining the animal (now the national animal) its name of Tabu Nekku, or “Lucky Cat”.
We have many other legends, and a great many tales are told around the fire in the dark of winters. This is but the first.

Lessr Tsurani
26-08-2004, 12:03
The Main Legand of the Tusrani is the story of the Golden Bridge.
We where not from earth origionaly, but a large a lush planet we called, strangly enough, Tsurani. Now, we where this world Roman Empire, but we wher MUCH more advanced. In the year 0 G.C. ((GOd creation)) a great evil came to the world. It had power beond mesure, with armies lead by great black dragons. We had many Species on Tsurani, and all fought united to fight off the evil. THey whewre no match for the power, Until 100 children and 10 Adults started a rite that would infuse them with power, a power that came from the Tsurani world. These people created Golden dragons, ones that could hold off the great blacks. Te war still went in the Evils power however, until the GOds as they had been called, worked on a plan. The adult gods used a power to create a bridge that left Tsurani and went to a nother world, earth. The Thousand went across the bridge and held the other end, and the surrvivers of Tsurani fled across the bridge. The 10 where over powered, but all of Tsurani had made it over the bridge. They younger gods managed to close the gap before they left to fidn a new world for us to live, without interference from other Races. When they left the People created a nation and called it LEssr Tsurani, witch was anchient Tsurani for "New Tusrani" Therefore the nation was made. But we did not want these people here, so we created ships, and we moved, but there where humans all over Earth, so we started to try to travle the stars. It was at this time the thousand reutrned and told us that Tsurani was free from the evil, and we could move back, so we left on the mighty fleet and returned to our homland, but we continued to be called "Lessr, for we did not deserve the name of our old ansestors. And thus is the Legend of the golden bridge.
Great Panonia

On the beginning was Rod. Highest power of all breathed and from his breath arised god Svarog and holy mountain of Alatyr. Svarog took hammer and forged on Alatyr the world and his brothers, Perun and Veles, and his wife, Lada, which helped him to seed the world with life. From sparks arised lesser gods: Dazbog, Morena, Chors, Radagast and else. These settled on Alatyr and built here a temple for Rod.
After the world was created, Perun has been given heaven, to rule upon the circle of stars, thunders, clouds, rain and snow; Veles has been given earth and underworld, to rule upon the living and unliving things. Perun gave human strength, fire and alcohol, while Veles gave him cattle, plow and other tools.
Macisikan

One of the darker pieces of folklore in the Empire centres around a square in the capital city, Arn-Maciska. This square, poetically dubbed the "Plaza del Maldecido" ("the Seat of the Cursed One"), was the place where, for hundreds of years, the worst criminals in the Empire, traitors, mass murderers, rapists, cannibals were (and still are) hanged.
The square itself is paved with basalt, and walled with granite. It has been elaborated over the centuries, but the most interesting feature is the line of statues just inside the wall; they are angels, standing with wings folded, hands linked palm to palm, facing inwards; the idea was that they would contain any evil unleashed by the executions; at the time it was believed that when a person was killed (as opposed to dying a natural death) his or her spirit would wander the Earth for a year and a day before being granted passage to the afterlife. This is no longer believed, but the statues remain.
Legend holds that anyone who is alone in the Plaza del Maldecido after dark will be driven mad by the "echoes" of the slain, unless they can get to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arn-Maciska (2 km away) and cross the threshold before sunrise.
The strange thing is that anyone who has been into the square alone at night has ended up in a psychiatric clinic, except for those lucky, and superstitious, enough to get to the cathedral. When the city consulted leading scientists, psychologists, psychiatric analysts, etc., the conclusion of their report read; "There is no evidence of "spirits" causing the conditions observed in the patients ... or an apparent connection between the Plaza del Maldecido and their conditions ... nevertheless, the condition of the patients, and manner in which is has been inflicted is, for lack of a better word, weird".
The city now keeps the gates on the thing locked when it's not being used, just in case.
We have much nicer legends (and much nastier ones), but this is one we like to tell the tourists... especially when they visit that part of the capital.
Iakeokeo
26-08-2004, 18:33
Most of what Iakeokeoians talk about is legendary in nature. Usually deals with clams, pointy sticks, and often involves smiling and sand.
For example:
The "Poking the Man-Eating-Clam" story. (Or... the "Thanks Iaka" story)
Long ago, when the people of Iakeokeo island had grown to more than 200 people, and it was becoming crowded in their one big village on the northern shore, the great Search for Iaka happened.
One must remember that all our people descend from two people who washed up on the northern shore. Yes,... incest was involved, but we won't get into that right now, thank you!
Iaka, a youth of enormous proportions, was the first to make one.
With a good sharp clamshell, he made the first "Iaouw-Uu-Uu" [Pron: Yow-oo-oo]. This "pointy-stick" amazed the nation.
He poked everything. The sand. The trees. The animals,.. and eventually, The people.
Much smiling stopped because of Iaka's poking.
The people had a law, given to them by the gods (probably), which stated that if someone says or does something silly, that one must point and laugh at them.
Many people started pointing and laughing at Iaka.
This brought much of the smiling that had gone away, back to the people.
It also made Iaka angry, as he enjoyed poking things, especially people, and did not want to stop.
But, the people persisted, as they were commanded by the gods (probably) to do, and continued to point and laugh at Iaka.
Iaka thought "I will not give up my ways..! I will go and find other people to poke!"
So, Iaka went south, through the forests, over the mountains, down the rivers, until he reached the southern shore,.. where no Iakeokeoian had been before.
And, to his amazement, there were people there..!
His people looked very much like each other. These people were all VERY different from each other.
He stayed at the edge of the forest and watched, in wonder.
These people, carrying their own iaouw-uu-uu (pointy-sticks), or at least what looked like iaouw-uu-uu, would run screaming from one side of the beach to the other, chasing each other from the beach into the forest at the far end, then those being chased would turn around and chase their chasers out of the forest, back across the beach, and into the forest at the OTHER end of the beach.
This repeated itself the whole day.
Then sunset came. When the people saw the sun on the horizon, they grouped up in the middle of the beach, threw down their pointy-sticks, and raced into the surf.
As they did this, a great screaming started.
The surf-foam turned pink. The ocean became red. The beach was awash in blood.
Then the screaming stopped.
The belching noises began slowly, then came more quickly.
Then it became a constant sound, like a waterfall. Of belches.
Iaka dared not move. He did not fear the unknown, as he trusted the gods (probably) to look out for him, but this belching made him very nervous.
Then it stopped. Suddenly. All at once. As if it had just learned that he was listening.
"Was it listening..!?" he thought..!
He had to find out what made the belching.
He had a pointy-stick. He had the very FIRST iaouw-uu-uu of his people.
He was powerful.
He was, after all, a youth of enormous proportions!
As he approached the surf, he knew a secret that those other people did not.
He knew that he MUST NOT throw down his pointy-stick!
The Iakeokeoians were glad to see Iaka gone away into the wilderness. His incessant poking with the Iaouw-Uu-Uu was making them not smile.
But they missed him anyway, so they sent a search party to find him and bring him back.
They searched everywhere. Because of their searching, all the previously mysterious parts of the island were discovered. The people could now grow more into these newly found places.
When they finally reached the far southern shore, they could not find Iaka.
But they did find the Iaouw-Uu-Uu.
The man-eating-clam was using it to remove sand and pearls from it's gullet.
The search party recovered the Iaouw-Uu-Uu from the clam, by sacrificing three of their people. The Iaouw-Uu-Uu was that important to them.
The First Iaouw-Uu-Uu is now kept with the other great things from the past, and is revered as the reason for our knowing the mysteries of the island, and the great sacrifice of our curious cousin Iaka.
Ilek-Vaad
26-08-2004, 18:39
Ilek-Vaads main two legends revolve around the deep, virgin forests in the 'Border Republics'. These deep dark forests with their peat bogs and hidden lagoons and caves are allegedly the home of Ylves and other spirits. The House of Ilek allegedy has traffic with such Ylves and this gives rise to the legendary Drune Lords of the House of Ilek.
The southern jungles in the Tolteca Republic is of course filled with legends of the God Emperors and their Tlatloni sorcerers, several of whom still live.
