The Looting of Allanea

The transports roared into life as the engines came online. The situation in Allanea presented many oppertunities for the less ethical, more oppertunistic nations. Those being the natural resourses of the country, all the gold had been reduced to molten slag along with all the other more valuable metals, this was not their goal. With most of the Air defences gone from bombardments the path was relativly open, to those with enough intellegance to look at where the strikes had been. The goal wasn't molten metal, that was still buried under rubble, the goal was the wood resources of the nation of Allanea. Usually such an undertaking would be difficult in the extreme as its a long flight from Allanea to Foolish Pesants, fortunatly they had recently aquired a large open lot in one of the many ports in Goobergunchia. This ment that a well disiplined force could quickly uproot said trees, remove the extrenuous branches, load up and deposit the wood in GooberGunchia, until there was non left. That was the plan.

The full wing of 32 Experimental transports had been gathered to make this go as quickly as possible, even those previously providing support in the Anderhervian civil war. Whilst they had no armaments to speak of, they were more than fast enough to evade any remaining positions and missile fire, given that they used Nuclear powered thruster technology. This was meant to be Foolish Pesants first step towards Space, though they made for excellent atmospheric engines if you could aviod being destroyed in a giant nuclear explosion by enemy fire.

As they approached the border, it became obvious as to where the remaining defences would be as they were the places that wern't smoldering craters, which were carefully avoided. The few Troops that were gathered to perform this piratical action were the High Commanders Elite Guard, the "Red Rain". They were equipped with chainsaws in addition to there usual equipment, there were no markings that could denote the nationality to the raiders. Apart from the immense number of Genetic Enhancements that any trained doctor could spot a mile away. They carefully approached an encroachment of trees and set to work, the transports moving through the trees, uprooting them. The Troopers then disembarked, preparing the wood for transport and loading it up. Once the hold was full they'd move carefully to avoid being turned into a large mushroom cloud, depositing the wood in their holdings in Goobergunchia. They continiued over and over until all the wood in Allanea was in city parks and office desks.

True this made them some of the worst criminals in the world, but since no one saw it, who could say what really happened?

As the Troopers unloaded the last of the wood into the compound, it was time to take stock of the haul. Whilst it seemed petty on the whole, it was still free and worth a great deal. Still it was hardly a fitting tribute to the greed inspired raid, still there was still time for One Last Job before the ground troops arrived to restore order. After a quick check of the situation, the only things left standing was civilian population centres. Everything else was under too much rubble to make for economical trip. Still that left Museums and Art Galleries, usually such exhibits were considered “priceless” to the right buyer.

The engines roared into life again as the Troopers set out for their Last Big Job. There chainsaws left back at the depot, they wouldn’t want to damage anything. As they approached the border, the Transports split up each group aiming for a different city, each Transport aiming for a different exhibit. As an after thought, all the Troopers were ordered to wear insignia bearing the mark of the Armed forces of The United States of Allanea. The people on the ground were more than likely in shock, though they wouldn’t shoot any friendly soldiers on a mission to keep Allanea’s treasures safe. On the off hand that trouble did happen to break out, the immense superiority brought about by the Troops Genetic Modifications would quickly settle the dispute.

The transports raced into the individual cities, relying more on the fact that the loyal citizens would still be recovering from the earlier bombardment. They each settled on the steps of their target buildings, all thanks to the publicity that such places generated to increase their income. The Troopers quickly disembarked and formed a chain and passed the priceless heirlooms from one to the next into the transport. Any questioning resulted in bland comments of “Protecting Allanea’s assets from the unjust aggressors” and “Dissenters will be shot”. When this was not enough, as was frequently the case with such patriotic citizens, they were offered the chance to oversee the transfer themselves. As this was not an Allanean Government action, these people were drugged, bound and gagged for later use. As soon as the place was cleared out, the troops expediently left the area as covertly as possible. Making sure that when they arrived in Goobergunchia, the spoils were moved to a more discreet location.

A message flickered out to the transports from on high, the Space Forces watching. Fighters roared from their launch cradles into the atmosphere, vectoring in as the message speared downward.

"Once was enough. Turn back now or be destroyed. You have violated Federation airspace and stolen Federation property. Should this continue any more, you will be considered criminals and treated accordingly. Turn back now or be destroyed."

The message began to repeat as the fighters brought their targeting systems online.

As the message was received, the respective crews looked at their monitors, seeing the fast number of targets appearing on the screens. A single message was transmitted by the unidentified transports

"Understood, turning back now."

As this was transmitted they turned back in unison, no one was stupid enough to fight in a ship without guns. Especially when you concidered what had just happened.

Allanean Fleet wreckage; Space

In a world of massive fleets, gigantic floating killing machines, technology that feigns sorcery in sophistication, psionics and mages; these people have nothing else to defend themselves with but their wits and incredible speed. They are not the most learned scholars of war, nor the elite of diplomacy. They do, however, have the uncanny ability to be creative and flexible in their use of resources. Jack of all trades, masters of none. Long have they discarded their pride. They will survive, no matter the cost. They are the people of Zvarinograd.

"Now! Jamming has commenced, you have 60 seconds to take salvage and shotjump out of here before they spot us. Let's move!"

Salvage corvettes scuttled around the place, taking pieces of wreckages from the long dead corpses of what used to be a fleet and quickly jumped out of view. They knew foreign fleet elements are in the area, and had preemptively planned the operation, down to the last scrap of metal. In moments, the unsightly garbage floating in space was quickly being reduced by such enthusiatic pilots who would take the largest thing they saw in the hopes of earning enough for their families.

It was the most dangerous jobs in the fleet, venturing alone in a barely armoured tin can that had appropiately been painted like cockroaches. It was humiliating, yes, but they had always said 'In space, no one can hear you laugh.' It was hard figuring out if that meant them, or foreigners.

The last corvette had jumped out, they had not taken everything, for fear of equally enthusiatic fleets destroying them in their greed.

OOC:
Just extending his thread, a bit. Of course, by now, everyone in #nationstates (IRC) knows Zvarinograd has salvages anything and everything dead in space like the ants we are. Blah. Blah. Blah.

Hey, it's a living.
