Supernatural Disaster in the Ministry of the Occult (Open RP)
Time: 2300 hours
Location: Ministry of the Occult research facility
In the cavernous expanse of the Ministry of the Occult primary laboratory, a few dozen researchers put the final touches on a barely visible structure. Despite the dim lighting of the large gothic hall, the techno-magi worked long into the night around the shrouded form of a massive machine.
Watching at a worker perched high on the construction gantry, High-Mage Balthazar shouted "Be careful with that, an Etheric Flux Scope is a very fragile component!" Balthazar relaxed slightly as the worker gently bolted the device into place. For almost a three decades his team of pseudo-scientists had been at work on this, there was no room for mistakes at this point.
Examining the design plans, he sighed. The blueprints for this device were a relic from an ancient civilization, found in an archaeological dig. Though no one truly understood the workings of the machine, he was building it, and tonight it would finally be completed. The title was translated to read Hell Gate, a machine from ancient legend that could summon demons from the underworld and bind them to servitude.
Looking up from the plans, Balthazar saw his assistant walking towards him. "The device is completed, my lord," the assistant said, bowing before the project leader.
"Excellent, I will inspect it at once," Balthazar said, rising to his feet and walking towards the Hell Gate. Slowly, he looked over every part of the complex device. As usual, the techno-magi had completed their work with outstanding quality. Not a wire was out of place. Checking the arcane symbols and hexagramic wards surrounding the portal itself, Balthazar saw no flaw. Turning to the assembled staff, he proudly declared, "Everything is completed according to plan."
Turning and walking to the archaic control panel, Balthazar pulled several levers, sending vast amounts of energy flowing into the Hell Gate. His assistant ran over to him, asking, "Are you certain we should be activating this so soon? It would be wise to run some tests on it first."
Turning to his assistant, Balthazar responded, "There is always some risk in science, assistant. We have not worked for thirty years to see this thing sit useless in this place." As he said this, he pulled several more levers, starting the ring of the portal spinning. Within a few seconds, a tear in space-time could be seen in the center of the device, quickly growing to form a complete portal. "We've done it!" Balthazar exclaimed to the techno-magi around him.
Just as he was about to call his superiors to anounce his success, when a shrill alarm sounded. "What's wrong?!" Balthazar shouted over the alarm. "A large demonic entity has escaped from the containment port..." a technician responded, cut short as the beast took physical form and killed him. The technicians and magi began to flee from the chamber. Balthazar stood at the controls, trying to close the portal. Instead, the machine began to explode, the arcane wards crumbling before a tide of demons. In the last moments before he was consumed by the expanding Hell Gate, Balthazar wondered to himself what had gone wrong. Then the portal destabilized, pulling the unforunate Tech-Mage into the underworld.
OOC: Anyone is free to post in this RP, just please find an interesting reason to become involved in it. I request that anyone who brings a character into this please TG me with any important info about the character being used. Lastly this is not a war RP, at least not yet, so please leave the armies behind for this one  .

OOC: You know Taren, he's a demon, human guise, that kinda thing. I'll send him in a little.
I know Taren, he's welcome to show up in this RP.
As a general note, school has started again (damn), so I can't really be posting all day. So, if I don't post very much, the thread isn't dead.
BUMP. Damn, I wasted my time on the first post for nothing. :(

BUMP. Damn, I wasted my time on the first post for nothing. :(
OOC:
If I had some more information, I could offer assistance in dealing with the demons and maybe dispatch a team, but there's not really any basis for such an offer to be made upon, atleast from what you've posted so far.
Maybe if you have the demons run rampant or something, so my nation would notice you've FUBAR'd.

OOC:Would it be okay if a warphunter band ran around?(Skaven)
Is this future tech...or modern?
OOC: I’m assuming that the Weyrean Civil War (which wound up being a solo RP) is over, Southpoirt has been destroyed in a three-way war between undead zombies, religious zealots using demons/shadows, and alchemists.
-----------------------------
The Tower Institute of Paranormal Phenomena had a building all to itself. No other department wanted to be located near a place that has been the home of someone as notorious as Dr. Sharkowitz. Besides, the institute had a tendency to study those things, which no one else wanted to touch with a long stick.
In all, the Institute occupied a small building on the slopes of Mt. Weyr. This, in itself, did not mean much -- the entire city of three million was built on the slopes of Mt. Weyr. However, there was nothing above the institute, although a number of buildings rose over it.
Only a few rooms in the facility were occupied. Although the department once housed over a hundred expert magi'i and alchemists, only a few remained. At its lowest point, during the Civil War, only the magi'i Marie and Jerand worked here. The occupied facilities consisted of a pair of laboratories with advanced shielding and better equipment that many nations could even conceive, a kitchen, a few offices, and a dormitory.
A technician sat in a room basked in sunlamp light. A few thick reports were stacked neatly on his desk. An azure crystal pulsed before him. Several trideo projections hovered on the level of his eyes. One was jet-black, with pure green text running periodically across it. That particular projection was shunted to the side. A flash of green, however, caused the technician to quickly turn his head, cracking his neck in the process. He massaged in in one hand. Another moved to begin entering commands.
>>>WARNING!
<<<define//WARNING
>>>WARNING is when something bad happens
The technician cursed, and whacked the azure crystal with the palm of his beefy hand. He then typed in another command.
<<<define//WARNING!@event
>>>forwarding...
>>>WARNING!@space=100.98.882.893
>>>WARNING!@type=demon//rift
The technician stared at the last line. "Marie!" he shouted. "Pack your bags!"
"Why?" a woman called from the institute's small kitchen.
"Because someone released a demon!" the technician typed in a few more commands. "We're going to Akaton."
"Oh, goodie," the person known as Marie came out of the kitchen. "When's our flight?"
"I can get one tomorrow," the technician responded.
"Good, notify Gibbs and Alicia," magus Marie said.
"Yes, ser," the dwarf grinned.

Re: Demonic Activity
It has come to our attention that a demonic entity has escaped from a facility located within your nation at approximately 2300 hours yesterday night. Having recently experienced a number of demonic attacks, and considering our decades of experience with demons located at the BattleSpire portal network, we would like to know if we can offer you any assistance with the matter at hand.
We have team standing by should you request any assistance
Sincerely,
Consul-General J. W. Gibbs

Lord Draconis sat awake, as he did every night, watching the readouts from his various spy drones and etheric scopes in his hovering place high above the capital. At the moment, he was watching a rather interesting civil war developing in some far away nation. The massive doors leading to the primary balcony were wide open, letting the cool night air flow through the ancient citadel.
He was briefly distracted from the developing war as the sounds of explosion below reached his ears. "What in the world," the elf lord asked himself, his attention now shifting to the events outside. Turning to his control panel, he re-focused the primary etheric scope, bringing the capital of Akaton into view. Lord Draconis was horrified by what he saw. Below, the easily identified gothic architecture of the Ministry of the Occult was nearly obscured by dark clouds of smoke and flame. Blue lightning arced between the exposed spires of the building and a swirling maelstrom of fire and shadow was visible through the holes in the roof.
Obviously, something had gone very wrong. Adjusting the focus dials on the scope’s readout, crowds of screaming civilians came into view, being chased by a massive demonic beast. This was worse than he had thought, the demon had actually escaped the research facility. Turning a few more dials, Lord Draconis brought the ruined building back into view. The portal was still open, and more demons were beggining to take physical form. Pressing a few more buttons, he closed and sealed the doors and windows of his palace and signaled to his assistant, "We have a problem, I need to send a message immediately!"
_____________
To all nearby nations, there has been a disaster in Akaton. A rift in reality has opened, and demons are freely crossing into populated areas. We are officially requesting aid from any group with experience in fighting large scale demonic invasions. We expect massive civilian casualties, so any humanitarian aid is also welcome.
Lord Draconis,
Emperor of Akaton
To Horned Rat:
As it says in the title, this is an open RP. While I know little about the skaven/rat-people of your nation, you are welcome to send them. Just tell me anything particularly important about them, so that as I write the RP they find a useful role. As for tech level, Akaton is future tech. However, there is obviously a lot of fantasy stuff like elves, demons, magicks, and just about any other supernatural thing imaginable.
EDIT: I'm going to bed, and I won't be posting until tomarrow afternoon because of school. Feel free to post here, but I won't be able to respond to questions or events that get posted during the day.

OOC:I'll just use my modern half, only near future tech.
As for skaven, they are based around warpstone. This material is almost like a physical side-product of the warp. In the warp are entities, some with form, others are daemons, these take the shape of how someone thinks they would look like. Of the daemons, their is a loose hiearchy, gods on top always, everything else riseing and falling below. Anyways, my race worships on of these gods(The Horned Rat), and is trying to ascend(to the surface, or in other words, kill all the other species) in the physical plane. Rival gods also attack me sometimes, but warpstone powered weapons work VERY good against daemons(why, not sure).
Warphunters-these bands of skaven roam all over, questing for warpstone, due to warpstone and warp entites similair(spelling) energies, often these guys run into daemons, so they know what to do(do, maybe not competentley :p ).
This surge of warp energy would also cause some skaven to come and try to bring more, as the fabric of the real world becomes weaker around them.
not sure if these daemons are like that, but essentially, this is my expierence.....
IC:Ritikkis was pleased. His whiskers twitched whenever he was happy, his warpstone eye cast an unatural, sickley green glow. The cause of his joy was a large warp-surge was picked up on there map, it continued to grow, either meaning a skaven war was occuring, or a rift had occured, spilling out daemons, but more importantley, warpstone.
"Snarkitt, this one is gonna be a big haul, even if it is a clan war"
His large second in command took pride in his warp-rifle, cleaning the thing constantley, occasionaly useing slackers for target practice. He was built powerful(for a skaven), some whispered he came from moulder, his size came from warpstone exposure. He delights in not speaking, as fear is as powerful as a gun.
"I don't think a squabble is going on, the surge is in.....Akaton"
"Well, this surge is big that if we get the warpstone load, we can retire, but other clans must've picked it up too"
"Then I suggest we make haste sir"
"Then stop standing there and get the scum moving"
"Yes sir" Snarkitt disappeared in one of the tunnels honey-combing the ship, echos later reported his bellowing at the "scum", followed by a humming as the ships picked up speed.
"Linskit, is their a warren we can skitterleap on Akaton"
Linskit was almost the opposite of Snarkitt, Linskit was wiry, white furred(a mark of cunning, treacherous, and calculating, essentially the perfect skaven mentally), while Snarkitt was muscled and black. Linskit also had a supplier of warpstone dust, and this helped his navigation.
"Yes sir, only one, emp...wait, Clan Mors just asked to dock, looks like some competition"
"Bah, they won't try anything in the warren, make sure to Skitterleap in half an hour"
OOC: So can we send in troops or not? *is confused* Weyr'd IC-ly ship in two corps with enough firepower to take care of the problem and that's it...

Re: Assistance
A group of experts who have been dealing with demonic and undead events for some time are en route, and should be arriving shortly via skyship. If you permit, we can also deploy ground and sky forces into the area,

"Tower control, this is Epoch-4 carrying Weyrean specialists, requesting permission to land," the com-tech of the sky-destroyer sent on a general band, hoping someone would pick it up.
The sky-destroyer was the smallest of Weyrean aircraft. Only two hundred meters long, it nonetheless packed an impressive array of missiles and sub-etheric guns. In shape, it described something like two destroyers mashed together so only their keels were visible, with two tripple-gun turrets on the top and bottom.
"Looks like they messed it up bad," Jarom commented, looking at the trideo imagery of the city.
Consider this as an Official tag.
OOC:
Small forces of troops are fine, but if at all possible, keep it under 250. When I said I didn't want a war RP, I meant no large armies, air/naval fleets, or nukes. A large army wouldn't really work in our environment of dense urban environment. Also, this is taking place in a heavily populated are of the capital, so bombardment would kill millions of civilians. In short, a few units of soldiers and vehicles are OK here, but should be specialists (I don't want to have to RP the large demons slaughtering untrained, unprepared troops).
IC:
To: J. W. Gibbs, Consul-General of Weyr
The skyship and troops have clearance to land in our capital. Local defense fortresses have been informed of the presence of Weyrian troops, and will not attack them. We are being overrun by demons, and civilian casualties are very high. Be advised, there are several huge demons (50+ feet tall) near the rift.
Lord Draconis,
Emperor of Akaton
_____________________________________________________________
Lord Draconis was becoming nervous, the dimensional rift didn't seem to be collapsing, he had been informed that it would. "Damn those techno-magi, they told me this could be controlled," he said to himself as he continued to monitor the situation below.
He had been trying to get a message through to the Ministry of the Occult's headquarters, but the interference from the portal was too powerful. Pulling off a panel cover, he switched a few wires to divert power to the etheric transmitter. Sure, it would burn out the relays, but the Ministry had to be alerted of the demonic invasion. Quickly, Lord Draconis typed out a message:
Priority One Message:
Be advised, there has been an accident at the primary research facility. Demons are crossing over at will. They have taken on physical form and escaped the facility. Send a containment crew immediately, be prepared for Class 1 (OOC: really big) demonic entities.
OOC: can you give details on what the demons are in this case? I.E: giant tentacle monsters, demonic penguins, humanoid thingies...
---------------------------
'Do we have a plan?" magus Faralon asked.
"Tracking six big ones, multiple vampires," the weapons officer stated from his station on the bridge
"Make a Marche-Rudra seal around the rift and seal it," Jerand replied. The bridge's central trideo projection changed to display a rough circle superimposed over the city.
"That's to scale, yes?" Magus Marie Antonova inquired.
"Yep," Jerand nodded.
"Sers, we'll be in range soon. Do we fire?" Commander Lian Cruz asked, turning in his chair to face the four MAgi'i assembled behind him.
"Yes, commander. I suggest boosting the main guns to ten kays," Magus d'Achaz, the group's effective expert in armament and combat, replied.
"Ser, I was there," the commander responded tersely. "Get the troops prepped for deployment," he commanded, turning towards the central trideo imagery, which now displayed the city's terrain. He had been the commander of the Swordfish at Southport, where the entire city was demolished in a single bloody day and night. Some still had nightmares of that hellish day, of burning troops, of charred remains of women and children obliterated by Skyship and artillery fire.
The Swordfish streamed over the city's buildings. At ten kilometers, with a clear corridor, its four main guns turned towards the rift and opened fire. The Swordfish's guns were sub-etheric, effective against demons, firing projectiles at ten kilometers per second -- thirty times the speed of sound. The thousand-kilogram shells slammed into the nearest gargantuan demon.
"Shields up," the chief engineer stated.
"Captain, we'll be deploying," magus Antonova stated. The four magi'i disappeared from the bridge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<ten kilometers from the rift>
The four magi'i dropped down from a kilometer up, protected by gelatinous cocoons that melted upon hitting the ground. Two experimental Mark VI tanks followed, then a squad of elite High Guard. Corpses littered the streets. Acrid smoke came from up ahead. One by one the soldiers activated their breathing packs. They scanned for movement – etheric sensors were still an untried technology.
"Coordinates?" magus Antonova asked, her voice sounding mechanical, filtered through the helm.
"Ten kays," Jerand replied, checking his wristpad. The Swordfish uplink was working perfectly. Above, the skyship moved off to a safer distance.
"Watch it!" sergant Larson shouted. The shadow was fast, darting from cover to cover. The sub-etheric shells brought it down a scant six meters away from the oversized squad.
The Mark IV tanks hummed, powering up, drawing power from their Firien cells.
OOC:
The larger demons look something like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v379/DraconisX13/BigDemon.bmp
The smaller ones, which have become very numerous, range from tentacle-blobs to clawed beasts.

Time: 0300 hours
Location: Ministry of the Occult Primary Base
About 45 miles from Akaton's capital, the headquarters of the Ministry of the Occult was located in the center of a secure military base. Within the towering windowless citadel that made up the core of the facility, the comm. officer monitoring the etheric radio picked up a garbled message coded priority one. Something about a demonic invasion in the capital. The officer was quickly roused from his boredom, forwarding the message to the Department for Supernatural Extermination.
______________________________________________________
Ten minutes later, an alarm rang in the quarters of Major Iyanna Fayde, lead agent of the anti-demon unit. Surprised, the elf woman swore to herself as she lost her place in the book she was reading. Walking to the intercom panel, she pressed the answer button saying, "This is Major Iyanna, to what do I owe this disturbance?" After a moment, a metallic voice came from the speaker, "There's been a disaster in the capital, the techno-magi made a terrible mistake. demons are everywhere killing civilians and causing Chaos." Turning off the intercom, she sighed. Over the past few decades, she had come to hate the techno-magi more and more. Ever since they started to build these ancient evil machines the number of demonic incursions more than doubled.
Slowly walking to her personal armory, she dressed herself in a close-fitting silver power armor. Next she grabbed a large variety of automatic pistols, sacred relics, and swords and concealing them in her traditional long black trenchcoat. Upon close examination, one could see that her armor was etched with sacred, arcane symbols to protect from demonic possession. Loading her numerous guns with a variety of blessed silver bullets, excellent at slaying demons.
Satisfied that her weapons and armor were in working order, Iyanna headed out of her quarters and into the corridor. Upon reaching the elevators, she typed in an access code for the etheric portal room. A crew of technicians was already working on the targeting telemetry on the teleporter. Iyanna Fayde never really liked portal travel, but it was part of her job, and it was better than being stuck in a work camp like most citizens. At the moment, she was the only demon hunter present, but soon the rest of her squad would arrive there soon, and they would see first hand what they would be facing.
LOCATION: The Other Side

What is…..this? A……rift….has….opened……Perfect.
This was all it needed to get out. It did not need the rift itself, just the power surging from it. A light struck on the other side as the demon disappeared.
LOCATION: Streets of Akaton
Once again a light suddenly glowed from out of nowhere and disappeared as sudden the demon began to take form out of the air.
Need….to…..feed. Chaos……everywhere…..must….find…..prey.
The demon moved into a building, looking for prey…

@Dronios: Lol, nightbringer.....
@Akaton: Did you use forge world's bloodthirster for that picture?
Is it okay if we post daemon casualties(only small ones, not the big guys)?
I'll make a post after the answer to that.
The numbers:
1 Epoch-class destroyer (12 officers, 66 crew, 4x tri-gun 16-inch turrets)
2 Mark IV tanks (2 crew each, 120mm variable shells)
4 Magi'i
4 High Guard Mobile Infantry
------------------
The Mark IV's rumbled to life, their power-up complete.
"Good to go?" Magus Antonova asked.
"...we're good..."
"...yeah..."
"...yes, ser..."
"Then get on," d'Achrad said tersely. "Idiots with thumbs up their arses..." the dwarf continued muttering. He leapt onto the hull of the nearest tank. A number of weapons protruded from his pack; sword hilts, rifle handles, and what appeared to be a mutated bazooka.
"Keep it civil," magus li'Ethelo replied, following.
"Bah, easy for you to say. You didn't get the night shift."
"Shut it," Jerand responded as the tanks began to move. He hated these arguments. d'Achrad had to be headed off early, else he would grumble for hours. "Looks like we've been spotted," he sighed. His scanners showed a number of demons coming from the sides.
The dwarf grinned. 'I was wondering when the fun'd start."
OOC: Well, being a dedicated player of W40k and WFB i must use my pictures for something. My guess is that it is a forgeworld Bloodthirster.
To all fighting the demons:
It is Ok to post the casualties for most of the demons. Don't post that all of them died, or (this should be obvious) that you killed the demon being RP'd by Dronios.
To The Horned Rat:
That is the forgeworld Bloodthirster in the picture I posted.

OOC:Sorry to specify, but by "all", do you mean EVERY daemon running around, or do you mean the ones in combat(the ones we RP running into)
If you meant the 2nd guess, just ignore this post
IC:Warlock Master Iskritt and his retinue of Deathvermin had just set up warp-field(shields them from daemons sight/attacks, and gives limited protection to mortal detectors/radar) near a district almost wiped out by daemons. Iskritt was tinkering with one of five warpstone generators(help produce the field), trying to get it bigger, when the scarleader handed him a report.
-------------
Block A(Mors has platoons in 3 different city blocks, A,B, and C)
We have neutralized 3 daemons, and are picking up over 20 blips. Medium casualties. So far, we have encountered bloodletters, but we have heard juggernauts crashing about.
City Block A-16% cleared
--------------
Block B
7 daemons neutralized, many more still around. Heavy casulties, requesting reinforcements, and 3 warpstone tanks(think predator in skaven hands). Damned plague riders require heavy weaponry we don't have.
City Block B-11% Cleared
--------------
Block C
24 Daemons neutralized, few left. Light-Moderate casulties, we can hold, but to make another push into a block will require more reinforcements. We are fortunate to be in a conflict between the changer of ways, and the dark prince.
City Block C-87% Cleared
-------------
This report pleased him, except for block B. Even that engineer should be able to secure the area with 5 warpstone tanks
Location: Block A, 4 way section
The advance scouts crawled through the rubble, each coming closer to a wild crashing sound ahead. Armed only with slug throwers(with warpstone rounds), a daemon larger than a blood letter will be hard to take down.
The platoon of clanrats(50 guys, 5 rocket launcher, 5 warp-rifles, 2 Warpstone tanks) scampered over terrain, but kept a good 25 feet away from the scouts, as that is where the daemons generally come from(scouts=bait, so I think even you might be hesitant to come close). The 2 tanks travled in a line, takeing up the lane, their guns swiveling back and forth, anticipating the enemy.
"Holy s....." the curse off, followed by a wet hacking sound.
Warlock Engineer Skully(advanceing between the 2 tanks with a 5 man Stormvermin body guard) seen the entity chop the scout in half with his warpstone eye(almost like night vision goggles, only it replaces his eye), but more importantley, the daemon had 3 fellow foot sloggers, and a bloodcrusher. "4 to the north west, tanks, FIRE, infantry, fire at will"
The warp-cannon spewed a beam of green energy, cutting through supports and a bloodletter. The building came crashing down in the road, blocking everyones line of fire. This obstacle did not impede the khornate daemons, as they simply smashed through, their red muscles rippling.
One bloodletter swung his axe down, and cut a clanrat from shoulder to groin, spilling all his inside over the ground and daemon. The second one growled in pleasure, as a disemboling blow severed the heads off of 2 clanrats, becoming soaked in their blood.
4 Clanrats took aim at the 2 daemons, but then the bloodcrusher came out. One lost the top half of his body from the shoulders up, emptying his chest of organs. Another was impaled on the juggernauts spike, while a third was eaten whole, excluding 2 hands and 2 feet. The fourth's brains splattered on the building as a large chunk of debris smashed his helmet and skull.
The clanrats stopped running, and started to turn to run. Before a "tactical withdrawl" occured, 3 of the stormvermin raised warp-pulsers(think pulse rifle from turok, only warpstone), and opened up, killing a bloodletter. The warp-rifle(necron flayer, only shoots warpstone) sawed the 2nd one in half, it vanished into the warp before its body hit the ground. Skully had started quaking when the building fell, green lightning danced on blades that replaced his left hand, he pointed at the juggernaut and its rider, shaking with barley contained power. Useing his right hand, he flicked a lever on a machine implanted in his back, unleashing the warp-lightning which tore through the two daemons. The energy realesed, he started to stop shakking. "All right, comon, we have a lot more to do now".
OOC:More will come, but I have to go soon.....
(BTW, how am I doing?)
The Mark IV's plowed ahead, grinding corpses beneath their treads until the mithril-steel ran red with blood. A pair of oversized demons bounded at them, beasts of sinew, tooth, and claw. The double-helix lances of the tanks arced towards forwards, slicing the two in half.
"Watch it!" Magus Antonova shouted, her finger dancing. The tanks were deadly to anything that came from the front. They were sitting ducks against attacks from the rear. The tanks fired again, shredding the smaller demons in bursts of flachette, pivoted, fired again. The blasts echoed down the city street.
The four Guards opened fire, azure-gold bursts that ripped through tentacle and bone. They were good marks, but not good enough. Four small demons went down. Sub-etherics were deadly to demons, shredding forces that tied them to the mundus. A giant leapt onto the second tank. d'Achrad's blade swung once, twice, passing inches above the heads of fellow soldiers. The dwarf tossed the disintegrating weapon behind the three halves of the fallen demon.
The tanks plowed on.
"Oh shit...." the Jarom muttered.
"What?" a Guard asked, stopping firing to face forwards. "Holy..."
It towered fifty feet in the air, armored and armed, leathery wings folded tight against its chest.
"Everybody down!" d'Achrad shouted, swinging a warped bazooka from his pack and onto his shoulder. The tanks' guns angled up, fired shells that would explode like small stars. Antonova's eyes exploded in azure light. Lances of pale blue light lanced at the demon, burning its face and chest. Small stars exploded along the demon's front. Antonova kept immolating the thirty-meter giant with blue flames, joined by Jerand.
"Not too bright, are they?" the dwarf asked, casting aside the heavy weapon.
"Don't you have anything more durable?" li'Ethelo asked next to him.
"You're one to talk," came the response. The elf had thus far done nothing.
More demons came from the flanks, while the tanks and their riders dealt with the mighty demona ahead. A general melee ensued. Bayonets shone with azure light. Someone screamed. The tanks kept firing, at the giant demon, their crews protected by mithril steel.
The elf drew his twin katanas, leapt off the speeding tank. "Go!" he shouted, his blades flashing, slicing demons and limbs.
"Idiot," d'Achad muttered. The dwarf was off, cutting left and right, until he and li'Ethelo stood back to back.
"How kind of you to join me," the elf commented.
"Just...shut up."
On the two tanks, the pair was lost from sight, hidden behind a mound of rubble.
Jarom glanced at the hull of the second tank. One of the Guards was down, his chest and belly cut open, his throat torn out. More azure-gold magefire erupted from his fingers, immolating nearby demons in flashes of crimson and red.
((Akaton--what happens to the giant demon is up to you, he's been hit with several massive, explosive shells and a good deal of magefire))
OOC:Sorry to specify, but by "all", do you mean EVERY daemon running around, or do you mean the ones in combat(the ones we RP running into)
If you meant the 2nd guess, just ignore this OOC:
To be completely specific, you can say that you killed the demons in combat, just not EVERY demon EVERYWHERE in the area. Normally I would RP the demon casualties, but since school started I can't be here 24 hours a day to update how many demons are dead. The small demons keep coming through the portal steadily, so it doesn't really matter how many die. There are 5 of the large demons, and I will RP when they get killed. BTW, you are doing fine Horned Rat.
IC:
A few dozen meters in front of the Weyrian tanks, the massive demonic monster roared in pain as bright beams of energy burned at it. For a moment, it tried to charge the tanks with its axe, but was driven back by concentrated weapons fire. The demon briefly faded, nearly forced out of its physical form by the onslaught of the Weyrians. Turning, it spread its huge leathery wings, trying to flee into the air. Before it could go far, it was cut down by tank fire, its wings shot full of holes. The beast, now seriously injured, slowly crawled behind a ruined building to escape the inferno around it.

Far away, in the Ministry of the Occult, Major Iyanna Fayde was making her final preparations for portal teleportation. The squad placed under her command had arrived in the teleporter chamber, each of the ten soldiers wielding an impressive assault rifle and sword. Looking at those around her, the elf woman could clearly see that she would be doing the majority of the demon slaying. Though the troops were impressive by military standards, they lacked the specialized ammunition and training to fight demons.
Iyanna was beginning to become annoyed, the portal was taking longer than usual to align to the destination. She knew that special care needed to be taken when teleporting humans to avoid possession by demons (what a surprise  ). However, patience was something that the elf had never had much of, and the wait was made worse by the uncomfortable cold temperature and lack of seating.
Finally, after about fifteen minutes, the technicians finished programming the portal coordinates and setting the anti-demon runes. Shouting over the noise of the portal generator, Major Iyanna said, "Ready your weapons men, lets kill some demons!" The troops formed into a squad formation and approached the portal. They loaded their rifles, and activated night vision scopes.
Iyanna was the first one through the portal, unfortunately appearing upside down 12 feet above the ground. Quickly noticing the problem, she spun in mid air, landing on her feet. The power armor took the shock of the landing, leaving her unharmed. However, there wasn't enough time to warn the squad, which lacked both elvin agility and power armor. One of them appeared above a rubble pile and was impaled. "Damn those inaccurate technicians to hell," Iyanna exclaimed in anger, seeing the now-dead soldier.
Immediately ahead of the demon hunter squad, a few of the smaller clawed creatures growled at them and charged. Iyanna pulled out a pair of archaic looking guns, custom 30mm one shot pistols, and took aim. Pulling the trigger, a huge bullet loaded with holy water and high explosives reduced the nearest demon to a disgusting pile of bloody remains. The other demon jumped, giving her too little time to reload. The squad opened fire, but the conventional bullets had little effect on the monsters. On of the soldiers was torn in half, before the elf woman decapitated the creature with a long knife.
OOC: I'm planning to have Iyanna meet up with the Weyrian force to finish off the large demon they are fighting.
Gun…fire? It....has...been..a…long..time. Got…to…find….prey…got…to…..need…to….more…strength…
The demon started moving again, but this time the speed was severly reduced. Suddenly it fell to it´s knees(if one can call it that) and started to fade…
No! I…will……not……go….back…….will….n…o…t…
Suddenly it stopped fading and it rose from to it´s feet again(no need to actually, as it floats…) and starting to walk(in the air). It stopped again but this time to listen.
Need…..prey…..uh?…..what……is…..that?
The demon turned it´s head towards another demon, which was sitting and eating on a corpse of a villager.
“Stupid…..thing….eating…..my….prey……the…thing….itself…will...belong….to….me….now!”
The demon let out a screech as it attacked the other(yes, it is attacking it´s own, because it doesn´t consider itself to be a…..”thing”). The other demon replied with a roar, but it didn´t get to finish it. Before it was able to react a black smoke appeared around it, locking it´s limbs.
“Now…..you…..belong…..to…..ME!”
The black smoke turned into a green light, now formed like an egg around the lesser demon. The egg-shaped light shrunk around it, and was then drawn to the creature´s heart. A growl was uttered from the beast as the light fully disappeared and only a moment later, it fell lifeless to the ground. The green light emerged at the point at which it had entered the creatures body, and slowly floated in the air, stopping in the Demon’s hand. There it disappeared. The demon now felt stronger, memories and strength coming back.
“Haha! Foolish creatures! They will all fear my power! They shall tremble before my name! They shall cower in their hideouts as I,Drxzyioxz, release my minions! They shall be conquered……
(OOC: This was a little introduction to a plan I have in mind.
And yes, this demon is quite intellegent.)

IC:Everything was going well, casulties were light(by skaven standards), a city block was a few entities away from clean, the other had stabilized, while one had started to pick up speed. Then things went wrong.
-------------
Block A
over 56% was clean, when this gigantic daemon came from nowhere, it slaughtered a third of the platoon and both tanks. We are makeing a fighting withdrawl, the large daemon went off somewhere else, and we here large explosions in the direction, lesser entities have been harrasing us as we retreat.
City Block A-34% cleared
--------------
Block B
We NEED those reinforcements, their are only 3 stormvermin and 8 clanrats left, we have no heavy or special weaponry. I have given the order to pull out if you don't send anything in an hour.
City Block B-3% Cleared
--------------
Block C
The two sides have allied together and are working hand-in-hand. Reinforcements were ambushed and completley wiped out. A building is the last place we are holding. We have no armor, and have a shortage of heavy weapons and men. Reinforcements are required to hold for a day.
City Block C-17% Cleared
-------------
(OOC:Things have "hit the fan" for my skaven :D )
"S^%# f@&*ing d%&(, sarleader, you are to go to city block B, execute the commander, and lead them to victory, you will have a clanrat platoon and 2 squads, in addition to 3 stormvermin squads, and 5 warpstone tanks. That sector NEEDs to be taken, it is the linch pin"
"Chieftain maskritt, have all 10 artillery pieces shell the building in block C, then reduce than entire area to warpstone slag"
"Fangleader Chistikk, take your Stormvermin platoon, 3 Warpstone tanks, and 2 slave platoons to city block A, there have been large readings there, so warpstone must surely be located there somewhere"
City Block C
Warlock Engineer Hesrict led the defence. Walking around the outer walls, he tuned weapons to fire faster, or deliver more warpstone. Wave after wave of horrors were cut down, but not before mutating several skaven, the dark prince's servants often formed the flanks, and would overrun points in the structure, where reserves had to push them back out from the building littered with bodies and parts. All along the wall it was streaked with gore, but some fortune was had, for if this was a khornate area, many, many more would be coming to attack.
Hesrict was useing a farsqueeker to attempt live communication with the warlock master.
"Abandone the fortifications, head into the main 3 way, reinforcements will meet you there"
Skaven who overheard this cheered, they got to leave this nightmarish structure. They were all so eager, they din't notice the lack of newcomers at the designated point.
"Wait, what are those things"
A clanrat motioned twoards 10 tanks, all lifting barrels skyward.
"Uh-oh...."
If anything was said afterwards, it was lost in the first volley and its following volley and their explosions, as the destruction of an entire block commenced.....
"I need more souls. I need more power. I need...a husk!
Drxzyioxz listened for a while, then moved towards a wall. He heard steps...
Humans! They shall become a part of a greater power.
Two soldiers came out from the long corridor, one speaking in his com-radio.
"This is Zero Four Delta to base. Come in base. This is Zero Four Delta to base. Come in base."
Hah! They are alone, this will be easy!
A black smoke suddenly surrounded one of the soldiers, and his friend could do nothing but look on in awe as his companion was lifted up into the air, and he was even more terrified when his friend fell down on the ground again. He raised his pulse rifle to fire in all directions, but it was too late...
As he raised his weapon, he felt a pain in his head that could only be described as being crushed slowly by a bulldozer. He saw a green light emanate from his friends heart, forming into an orb and slowly float into a corner. As the light disappeared a dark figure approached. It was floating in mid-air. It had to be a demon.
"You! Fragile human! You have been chosen to serve!"
Drxzyioxz eyes started glowing red. After that, the soldier was released from his pains, his mind twisted by Drxzyioxz.
"I bow to your will! But first, i have a question."
"Go ahead, my child..."
"What is my master´s name?"
"I shall be known as the Puppet Master!"
OOC: The demon now has a follower.
Stupid sun glinting off the monitor...
A general note :: Weyreans are NOT humans. They're kind of like pseudo elves with 400+year life spans, very long ears, and strangely-colored hair. The only human there is Jerand. Pic of a Weyrean attached.
"Stupid demons," one of the Guard cracked. The monstrocity had crawled behind a building, after trying to charge a pair of tanks. He snapped another oversized cartridge into his boomstick, fired at another smallish demon. The monster's head exploded.
"And it's right on our path," Jerand replied tersely. A bolt of his magefire fried two demons. The fiends seemed to be thinning out, either because most were now 'dead', or because they decided Weyreans were not worth the effort. "We have to go right through that street to get to the rift."
"They just don't learn," Antonova gasped, slumping against the ever-shifting tank turret. She checked her rifle. For now, more magick would not be a good idea.
"He hasn't gone far," Jerand warned, glancing at his wristpad. Claw marks scored his runemarked armor. "Tom, you allright?" he shouted at the lone figure on the other tank.
"Yes, ser," the reply came instantly. The figure on the tank shifted, took aim, fired off two shots.
Time: 0400 hours
Location: Imperial Palace
The monitor room in the palace was filled with dense smoke. As he had expected, the etheric relays burned out when he transmitted the high-energy message. The choking cloud had forced Lord Draconis to leave the control room and seal the doors. It would take several days to repair the damage, but it was well worth it (at this point, he doesn't know that the Weyrian troops are being successful).
Lord Draconis was now walking quickly through the deserted hallways of his palace. Arriving at an observation balcony high above most of the palace, he stepped in to the open carrying a thermal viewer scope. Adjusting the obsolete viewer, he saw for the first time the success the troops from Weyr and the Horned Rat. However, the small demons had become very numerous, and had spread over much of the industrial district. The motion scanner in his thermal scope flashed a warning symbol, indicating the approach of a winged creature.
Looking up, Lord Draconis saw a mid-sized demon with bat-like wings flying towards him. He drew and fired his autogun, but the demon expertly dodged the fire. Landing on the balcony, it knocked Draconis into the wall of the palace, the gun bouncing across the floor. The demon began to stomp towards what it thought was a helpless bit of food, its hooves clicking across the stone floor of the balcony. Seeing his obviously hungry foe advancing towards him, Lord Draconis looked for his gun, but found that it was no longer in his hand. Focusing his full will upon the beast, Lord Draconis's eyes changed from their normal gray to glowing bright blue. The demon, now only ten feet away roared in pain, clawed at its head, and finally burst into flame. Getting to his feet again, Lord Draconis admired his work as the demon's corpse turned to ash. Finally, he had a chance to make use of the centuries he had spent training his mind.
OOC: For those who don't know this already, Lord Draconis is an elf, and like many elves, he has certain powers such as this.
If I'm being toosuccesfull, or moving too fast, please tell me
You're doing fine Weyr. I intend to end this RP with the demons being defeated and driven back into the underworld. Besides, since Weyr and the Horned Rat are the only nations that seem to have sent help to fight the demons, there will be plenty for everyone.

Major Iyanna Fayde stood, looking rather puzzled, as the squad of troops accompanying her shook with fear. She had been told that because of the size of the demonic horde, that an elite special forces unit would be assigned to help fight the demons. These troops were inept and cowardly. Looking down at the disintegrating demon corpse in front of her, she figured out the problem. "Have any of you ever fought a demon before?" the elf woman asked, becoming concerned when no one answered. "Hmm. This could be a problem. Do any of you even know how to kill a demon?" Silence again. A soldier near the dead demon began to cry. "Well, in that case, you will probably all die. Just stay back here and try not to do anything stupid." This was going to be one of those days when she earned her paycheck.
With that, Iyanna darted away into the darkness. Seeing what looked like a horde of very small furry demons, she slowed down to avoid being noticed. Considering their large numbers, she put away her 30mm custom guns, grabbing a pair of automatic pistols from the deep pockets of her trench coat. Silently sneaking behind the creatures, she prepared to attack. Just before she was about to start shooting, she noticed something. "You aren't demons are you," she asked, realizing that she had nearly killed a group of the skaven warriors she had heard about.
A few minutes earlier, she had intercepted some sort of call for help from a group of the rat people. They were in a rather unfortunate position, surrounded on three sides by demons. "Need some help?" she asked, speaking to the surprised looking commander of the group. The rat-soldier still looking down the barrel of the elf’s auto-pistol, agreed, obviously glad not to have been shot. "Sorry, I thought your squad was a pack of demons," she apologized, turning her guns towards a small attacking demon and cutting it down with a burst of blessed bullets.
OOC: Sorry Weyr, the skavens seemed like they needed help more urgently.
EDIT: To Dronios, the 8 surviving troops Iyanna brough with her are alone and are easy prey for a soul eating demon.
Amanda was using the brief respite to talk to the commander of the sky destroyer that was leaisurly slaughtering the few demons that were able to fly far and high enough to get at it.
"Here comes the big boy," a Guard cracked as the tanks swerved dangerously around the corner. The demon from before straddled the street, surrounded by a few lesser nasties.
"FIRE!" Amanda shouted, needlessly. She had to shout at soldiers in Southport to stop staring and start shooting.
"Keep your panties on," the gunner of ther tank commented as the barrel took aim and began firing at the demon's head from eighty meters. "One of you geniuses take the boomstick up top."
"Oh," a guard snatched the machine gun on the tank's turret, began blazing away. The two magi'i checked their automatic rifles, fired. One or two shots were enoygh to take down most demons.
FIRE IN THE HOLE!" the call on the open comm. made the small squad start. Two fireballs exploded against the fifty-meter demon's head and torso.
"Dammit, the thing just won't die!" a tank gunner exclaimed on the comm. They were less than twenty meters distant.
The 50ft. Demon was suddenly faced yet again by the Weyrian tanks it had fled from before. However, without its wings, it couldn't fly away. It decided to make its last stand here, roaring and starting to advance upon the tanks with frightening speed. It closed the gap between it and the Weyrian squad, until only twenty meters separated them. At this range, the tank cannons were devastating, starting to tear the beast apart. With the last of its energy, it charged the troops. The beast collapsed from the massive amount of weapons fire moments later, falling to the ground at the feet of the Weyrians. The demon had been too badly wounded to support a physical form; it destabilized and vanished leaving only a cloud of foul green smoke.
EDIT: Congratulations Weyr, you are the first one to fight a large demon! For all intents and puposes, it is dead as it is unable to continue the battle. Now there are only 3 or 4 large demons along with several hundred small and medium sized ones left in Akaton.
Can I seal the rift? That was kind of the purpose behind the whole charge....
"Stop here," Jerand commanded as the tanks cleared the greebish smoke. The Mark IV's stopped without a comment. Demons flirted in shadows. A black shape was pierced with glowing shells. A pack of bear-like beasts were fried with a flachette burst. Spirits, I love this, a gunner muttered.
"We're here?" Amanda asked rhetorically, leaping off the tank hull, cutting down a dog-sized demon with her boomstick. The chamber clicked empty. She shrugged, tossed it onto the ground and drew her blade just in time. The katana glowed azure, hewed off a demon's scaly arm, then its head, as it tried to grasp the magus's armor.
"Yep," Gerand nodded. The machine guns continued to fire in bursts. "Right...here," he pulled a glowing crystal from his pack, rammed it into the road, melting pavement, began scribbling equations.
"Hurry up," Amanda muttered, shifting her stance, sword in hand. Demons eyed her warily, beginning to close. The three remaining Guards scanned shadows.
The rift can be closed, now that the large demon has been removed from the area. The other large demons have spread out, eating civilians or something. Once the rift is sealed, the other demons will need to be hunted down. Some may escape, but that isn't too big of a problem.

The skaven, which their deaths had been prevented for a a day or so, were relieved, that is however, until they seen the pointy ears....
A clanrat screeched out "Elf-thing, elf-thing", half the clanrats raised their weapons, all cocking the weapons. A single pistol round sounded out, as the over-thrown warlock master himself, Iskritt, walked out of a nearby cellar serving as fortifications. He had shot a clanrat in the face, the one who had shouted out, quickley cowing the others into submission, just to make sure, his steel claw impaled another.
"Greetings daemonhunter, you may help if you want, but we help no wounded or civillans, but you may rescue them if you wish" He said geustering twoards the pile of rubble that was once a city......
(Iskritt has a metal claw with a warpfire in it, warpstone-eye, and a thing that looks like a mini-factory implanted in his spine)
Location: City Block C(NEW BLOCK)
2 entire Deathvermin platoons stood on guard around the circle. The circle was made up of 13 bound slaves, 12 Grey seers, and 1 warpstone statue.
The figures were chanting, the words seemed to be warping the already damaged fabric. The grey lord began screeching louder than the others, and raised a ceremonial blade, the others did like wise. The last words were from the grey lord, "And to you we give thanks, o destroyer, and bring your glorious minions into this plane" On the last word, all 12 brought the knives down, cutting the slaves from throat to pelvis bone. The thirteenth sacrifice stumbled backwards from fear, and was consumed by the mutating effects of warpstone. Over head, clouds turned black, somewhere in the distance, a bell rung, its sound was not happy, it was more like a funeral bell, but for whom it tolls, the skaven know that. Then a figure began forming, followed closley by more......
OOC: how many rifts are there? Wait...you're bringing -more- demons? -_- :headbang: Ah, well, my squad is basically tearing around the original rift and planting seal crystals. No, they're not warpstone, anyone who comes within two meters of them gets fried.
"Last one," Jerand shouted, leaping off the tank hull before it even stopped, shooting something tentacly point blank with 12mm handgun slugs. Thos was the third etheric crystal in the sealing circle. The combined power of the three would be enough to form a barrier that only the most-powerful demons could cross. Or, that was the idea.
"Hurry up," Amanda muttered. She ducked as a massive demon swung at her; cut its left foot, then its right. The beast collapsed, howling, bringing smaller creatures scurrying at the squad. Then, the bell tolled...
"Wait, my child! I hear voices. Humans.......Coming in this direction!"
Puppet Master looked out of a hole which had probably been a window once. He saw eight humans, standing on the street. It was the perfect prey...
"I have spotted prey."
"Do you want me to kill them, Master?"
"No! We cannot be like them! We shall not kill for fun! And besides they will maybe become followers. I shall handle these by myself!"
With those words the Puppet Master went to the now destroyed window and uttered the same words as he did when he had "converted" the soldier to his cause.
His eyes turned red as he pointed at one of the soldiers.
"You have been chosen to serve!"
Puppet Master pointed at another one and repeated the sentence.
He then laughed quietly.
"Good! Now come to me! Lure you friends over here!"
He watched as the two soldiers he had chosen said something to the others, then started walking towards him. The other men followed...
When they reached the building, Puppet Master let out a horrible screech and the remaining soldiers became paralyzed...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIVE MINUTES LATER
Hmm... Two of had them died because of my screech... Not what i expected... These one's must be weak, but they will do.
The Puppet Master turned around to his growing group of followers. They were holding the last one of the soldiers. He now had a group of six. Six followers holding the Puppet Master's prey, that last bit was very important.
The lone man cried as the Master's followers tightened their grip.
"Fear not, young Human!" As i will now consume your soul, you will probably be frightened. But you should not be. Because when your soul is consumed, your body will be empty and perfect for me to take a hold of. Your body will be used to infiltrate your Human friends, it will carry me, and that, young Human, is a great honour to anyone! So fear not! Because when your body dies in a few moments, in great pain of course, your soul will leave your body, and i will consume it to gain more power, i will enter your body for my own plans. So you should be honoured!"
A black smoke enclosed itself around the man as he screamed for help. It was too late....
Iyanna looked down at Iskritt and laughed wickedly. "Help civilians? What do I look like, a Red Cross worker?" A gust of wind caught her trench coat, revealing her shining power armor and a wide variety of nasty looking weapons. "I'm paid to kill demons, nothing more." Turning to the skaven troops waving guns at her, she added, "However, if you keep pointing those weapons at me, I'll kill all of you for free."
Pulling a small sensor device from her pocket, the elf woman checked the location of the dimensional rift in the Ministry research facility. Looking back at the rat people nearby, she decided to head towards the ruined Ministry facility to make certain the rift was successfully closed. She found the behavior of the skaven unpleasant, and chose to abandon them to the approaching demons.
As Iyanna stalked off into the pre-dawn fog, another demon tried to attack her. A 30mm explosive bullet cut short its charge, splattering the rats with bloody remains. These demons never learn, she thought to herself, reloading her unusualy large pistol.

The ritual was completed, already 20 daemons had come, and one of the few great ones is pushing through. Three clanrat platoons had arrived, and entrenched themselves in, in case some nerdoer comes by, orders were to ask to turn around, if not, fire.
Lord Draconis stepped quickly into the armored protection of his aerial palace. As the doors began to close, he looked back onto the balcony, where only a matter of minutes ago a demon had nearly eaten him. For the first time since the demonic invasion began, he was worried. This was getting far too close for comfort, he thought to himself, wondering what to do next.
____________________________________________________
At the Ministry of the Occult headquarters, a similar problem was being considered. They knew that while Iyanna Fayde was very skilled at slaying demons, the demonic invasion had grown too large to be contained by a single operative. In the command room of the expansive facility, the head tech-priests of the ministry debated whether to deploy a classified artifact-weapon.
"We must consider the consequences of revealing the weapon ahead of schedule," an elderly tech-priest argued.
"If we wait here and do nothing, there will be nothing left of Akaton to save," countered the ministry officer of armament.
The argument continued on like this for several minutes, when the Minister of the Occult ended the debate, "We will not deploy the weapon. We can defeat these demons as we always have in the past."
The door to the command room opened, and an obviously nervous messenger stepped in. Walking to the Minister, he delivered a small note. It read:
To the Minister of the Occult:
You are hereby stripped of your rank and authority due to a total failure to complete your duties. A guard will escort you from the facility. Failure to comply with this order will result in execution.
"What is the meaning of this?" the Minister of the Occult asked, obviously furious.
The messenger answered "You seem to have lost your job sir."
"On whose authority?"
Count Yuri, the vampiric second in command of Akaton stepped from the shadows replying "On mine."
"I will not give up my post here, not to you most of all!" the minister shouted back at the approaching vampire.
A slight smile crossed the Count's face as he replied "So be it."
Before anyone could react, Count Yuri seized the unfortunate former minister of the occult and drained his blood. Turning to the others, the Count said, "You now report to me. The weapon will be deployed immediately,"
OOC: I will reveal more about this secret weapon in my next post.

"We're good," Jerand nodded. "Need help?"
"Yes!" Amanda growled, backing away from a large demon.
Jerand drew back, let loose with azure-gold flames that charred the monster into dust. "Now, let's seal the rift," said he, pulling out an oversized six-shooter.
The three crystals fused into pavement in a rough circle around the ministry of the occult's laboratory flared azure. A demon howled in pain, watching its clawed arm turn to dust. From the air, one might have seen a rough circle inscribed with a triangle and many equiations, inscriptions, and runes.
The two magi'i proceeded towards the wrecked laboratory, Jerand with his twin guns, Amanda with her long katana, which glowed with azure.
"A block in," Jerand unloaded two rounds into a demon's head, who had chosen to leap at him at just that moment from atop a lamp post, "-that- direction," he finished. A slight acrid smell of burning began to permeate his armor. Sure enough, there was a crack where something had pierced the outer layes, but ahd not broken skin. A permaseal patch took care it.
"Something wrong?" Amanda inquired. The display on her faceplate showed a pair of demons in the shadows of some wreckage.
"No," Jerand shrugged. The two demons leapt. Amanda sliced the first onefrom pubic bone to cternum. Jerand filled the other one with shells, turning it to greenish smoke and dust.

Major Iyanna Fayde made her way towards the last known position of the Weyrians, hoping they would be friendlier than the skaven troops. She had a feeling that those vermin weren't just here to lend assistance in fighting the demons. Oh well, she would inform the Ministry of her suspicion when the mission was over. For now, all she had to do was secure the rift and make certain that it remained closed.
Coming into an open area of the city, she heard gunfire and what sounded like a tank a few hundred meters ahead of her. They were obscured by smoke and dim lighting, as were a number of smaller demons. Searching in her pocket, the elf found her compact sensor eyepiece. A pack of four demons separated her from the Weyrian tank. Walking carefully, Iyanna held an automatic pistol in one hand and a mithril saber in the other. The sword glowed blue, surrounded by a disruptive energy field. One of the demons detected her approach, but before it could make a sound, Iyanna removed its head with a slash of her sword. Another demon turned, saw the elf, and roared, alerting the other three nearby demons. One of them was reduced to ash by a quick burst of three rounds from the pistol, while another was cut in two by Iyanna's glowing saber. The last one reached her, attacking with long knife-like claws. However, it found that instead of impaling its foe, the claws shattered on contact with Iyanna's armor. Moments later, it had been cut into a dozen small pieces.
Iyanna was impressed, the rune armor worked exactly as it should. The demon had barely left a scratch on its polished surface. Speeding up to catch the Weyrians ahead of her, she noticed the azure crystal ahead of her. Engaging the etheric filter on the eyepiece, Iyanna could clearly see an aura of energy around it. "Wouldn't want to touch that," she said to herself, keeping her distance from it and running towards the tank ahead.
"Hey, you look like you could use some help," Iyanna said, getting the attention of the Weyrian magi. "I'm Major Iyanna Fayde, special agent of the Ministry of the Occult. It looks as though you're trying to close the rift, anything I can do to help?"
OOC: You can cross the barrier, unless you're a demon or something...sorry for the bad post....*brain fries*
Jerand paused, considered the elf for a moment. "Yes. Help would be nice. We've got the most of the new demons contained behind the crystal seal, but it's only a dozen meters high."

The skin of reality stretched to the breaking point as the womb of the warp gave birth to the most glorious of all the Horned Rat's servants. A massive rippling arm emerged, several nearby clanrats stared in shock. The seers and deathvermin knew what it was, so none of this shocked them.
It pushed its way out, gripping its FellHaelbard in one hand, it looked over the skaven, an image of...disgust...passed over its face.
"Such weaklings have brought me here, this is not a good world, for that, you shall not feast with the horned one"
At the end of that, the daemon went berserk, and hacked through 7 deathvermin, their corpses withering up to husks, before a shot left the barrel. The 12 seers were prepared for this, and conjured a warp-shield around it, trapping it until some fool released it, or its hold on reality slipped.
OOC:Sorry about the bad post, I am in hurry.
The above was made to show that while normal greater daemons can be controlled(or sent back if they go crazy) easily, while vermin lords have wills of their own(except when the horned rat gives the orders), often the summoners are killed by it and it goes on a short, bloody rampage until sent back.
OOC: The secret weapon I mentioned earlier is the subject of this post. The weapon takes the form of a mid-size combat walker. It is controlled by a human soul trapped within it. The vehicle is roughly four times the height of a human, and is heavily armed and armored. On one arm, it mounts a large chainsaw and an auto-cannon. The other arm has a power claw and a flame-thrower. There are also several concealed machine guns mounted on the torso of the vehicle. It is as agile as a living being, making it devastating at close range. Picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v379/DraconisX13/Mech1.bmp

The surviving members of the Ministry's governing council stared in shock at Count Yuri.
"Carry out my orders, unless you want to suffer the same fate as your former leader." Count Yuri turned to the officer or armaments, "Prepare the weapon and deploy it to the site of the dimensional rift immediately."
"Yes sir," the officer quickly said, not eager to have his blood drained by the Count. "If you will follow me sir, you can inspect the vehicle personally."
Ten minutes later, Count Yuri along with the armaments officer, arrived in a large room filled with a variety of military devices. Ranging from swords and pistols all the way up to towering battle titans and massive tanks. This facility stored examples of every weapon system used by Akaton's military in the past millennium. At the end of this expansive room, a unique prototype weapon was being readied for battle. As a crew of maintenance workers loaded the ammunition drums, the armaments officer explained the walker.
"This is truly the most deadly device we have yet produced." The officer gestured to the numerous weapons mounted on the vehicle. "One day, these walkers may replace entire squads of infantry soldiers."
"Most impressive," Count Yuri replied. "One question, how is it controlled?"
"This is the interesting part, there is no pilot. Instead, it is controlled by the trapped soul of a human pilot. We have found that it's very useful to have no human pilot when fighting demons."
"As soon as it is fully armed, deploy it via dropship." Count Yuri knew this vehicle was the best bet Akaton had for bringing the demonic invasion to a quick end.

Location: Near the dimensional rift
Major Iyanna paused a moment to reload her auto-pistols, discussing strategy with the Weyrians. "The demons inside the sealed area aren't my main concern, the ones outside still pose a major threat." Taking aim, the elf brought down a low flying bat-like demon. "If the ones outside escape into the city, they could infest the area for centur..." The sound of roaring jet engines drowned out the last few words, as a large dropship touched down a few dozen meters away. It was under attack by winged demons, only stopping for a moment to drop the assault walker it was carrying.
"What is that?" Iyanna asked, not talking to anyone in specific. Walking over to it, she saw a small note affixed to the machine.
To whomever is reading this:
This walker is an advanced combat vehicle. It is very powerful and is instructed to attack demons. Just stay out of its way and it will do its job.
BUMP. We really need to get this RP moving along. Dronios, please have your demon character carry out his plan, whatever it may be.
OOC:
@Horned Rat: Someone's etheric scopes just went berserc. Expect artillery fire, soon.
@Akaton: how many rifts are there?
"We're only here to seal the rift," Jerand shrugged, "After that, the Expeditionary Corps comes in and finishes off anything left outside. Someone's sending demon's through..." the magus quickly sent instructions into his wristpad. He could sense the rift in the planes of existance. "Anyone you know?" he asked the elf. "Oh, I'm Jerand Reich, that's Marie Antonova, magi'i of The Tower."
Six kilometers above the city, autocannons finished slaughtering the last batch of demons attempting to attack the modified sky destroyer. Firing coordinates streamed through the systems to the weapons offcier's station, then were forwarded to the central computer. The skyship spun about, loosing jets of compressed air.
OOC: Akaton only created one dimensional rift, the original one. However, the Horned Rat seems to have created another one. In total, there are two rifts.
IC:
"All of the techno-magi at the research facility were killed, so I'm afraid I have little information as to why the demons have crossed over in such large numbers." Major Iyanna responded to Jerand's question.
As the elf talked with Jerand, the combat walker activated, its internal power generator humming with high voltage energy. The vehicle raised itself to a standing position, its pneumatic cylinders hissing with high pressure steam. The electric eyes on its armored head glowed bright red, searching for targets. A few tentacled beasts were stalking in the smoke and shadow, thinking themselves safely hiden. The imaging system on the walker easily picked them out, sending targeting data to the 40mm autocannon built into its right arm. Bracing itself, the walker opened fire, a dozen high explosive shells turning the demons and a nearby building to burned rubble.

The same gathering occured, quickley followed by the bloody ritual.
The 20 deathvermin, 70 Clanrats, 30 Stormvermin, and 2 Warpstone tanks(there's a list of what the heck is there) had already setup a tight perimeter(spelling?). In the shadows, unseen by those with mortal eyes, these skaven seemed to be liveing shadows, offing wandering fools who slipped in the holes in the perimeter.

Every daemon that came through, was magically teleported thanks to some clan eshin sorcerers. This time, another Verminlord came through, entering this world with a(bewildering to the skaven, and most likely any one who reads it) proclemation"Thrice are the wombs in this area, a fourth is emerging, my childrennn, we must capture the originnn.....it has been sealed, many will be lost at the others, by the mannn-things. We must hastennnn the movement my childrennnn"
The seers understood what this meant, fighting is going to erupt soon(they don't know if it's troops, tanks or artillery weyr, they know something is going to happen though), so this glorious had to be evacuated.
Being a master of the horned one's magic, he knew the skitterleap spell, and left with the smell of brimestone lingering......
OOC:Sorry for weak post, I'm rushin this.
"Nice," the two Weyrean magi'i commented as one. Jerand keyed in two more commands into his wristpad.
Weyrean sky destroyers were built to counter fighter craft and missiles. For this mission, however, more 80mm and 150mm artillery was added to the skyship's arsenal. Six kilometers above the city, the bulk of the destroyer erupted in flame, spewing sub-etheric cookie cutter (cone of death) and explosive shells onto the rift not covered by the seal.

Sorry about this, my brains are a bit scrambled.....
I have a hundred-fifty-meter skyship studded with weaponry somewhere over the city. It's trageting block C. It's classified as an Epoch-class sky-destroyer.
"Hurry, my children! Danger may be near.."
"You all heard the Master, get moving slimeballs!"
"Why thank you, Child. Tell me your name!"
"It´s Geriond, Master."
"Very well, When we conquer the Humans they shall fear Geriond, The new Leader of Humankind!"
The soldier who had been the first to be converted looked at his Master rather suprised.
But Master, You are our leader! It is you who will save us from a worse destiny!"
"True but, if I conquer the world, the races of the earth will unite to destroy me, as I am something more powerful than them. But if I conquer the world and put you as the leader, many more will accept it."
"You are so wise, Master!"
"I know... Now let´s get moving!"
The group moved out of the building, the Puppet Master´s husk being quite fast when it came to running, he soon had to stop to let the others reach him. He heard something....
Hmm... what is it that i hear? Voices.... They shall taste my power!
"This way my children! I hear prey!"
The Puppet Master turned and ran to his left, stopping after a while, seeing his prey... It was Humans, standing and talking, by the power surge that he had used to get out...
"I see our prey. Follow me and look like usual..."
OOC: Puppet Master has ran right into the Weyrian group at the rift.
OOC: Lord Draconis will no longer be appearing in this RP. He fled the country via teleporter and went to a different RP.
IC:
The large mechanical walker was working very well at slaughtering the hordes of small demons, gunning them down or shredding them with its chainsaw blade. It held back the demon horde long enough for Iyanna to do a sensor sweep of the surrounding area. She seemed quite alarmed by the readings, as they showed a demon of imense power in extremely close proximity to her. Turning to the Weyrians, she shouted, "I think we've got a problem over here! I'm detecting a demon of extreme power moving towards us!"
She turned back towards the direction of the readings just in time to dodge weapons fire from one of the posessed humans. "What the hell? That's one of my squad shooting at us!" She fired a warning shot, but the human took no notice. "They must be under the control of that demon I detected. Let the walker take care of the small demons, we have something serious over here!"
"Fire at them all! Kill them! Make them suffer! Geriond! Take a team of two and fall back! I do not want to lose our chances of winning!"
"Yes, Master!"
Geriond took two Traitors and retreated to the ruined building down the block...
Meanwhile Puppet Master threw himself in cover as he ordered the remaining traitors to keep firing...
Damn, I didn´t think the Humans would put up a fight..... Well, they have chosen their own destiny!
The Puppet Master rose to his feet and pointed at a scared Human in the middle of the fray...
"You have been chosen to serve!"
He then pointed at another one and repeated the sentence......
The Puppet Master rose to his feet and pointed at a scared Human in the middle of the fray...
Who are you targeting?
OOC: Just some guy, it might be a misplaced civilian or a soldier, but not any main characters...
The Puppet Master doesn´t really care about who he converts, as they are all on his side then... :D
OOC: Thanks. Gah, watching the entire third season of FMA is not good for the brain....
The magi'i ducked behind a piece of fallen masonry. Bullets peppered the ground about them.
"Do you want them dead, or alive?" Jerand asked evenly, not bothering to shout, reloading his gun.
"Bah," Amanda muttered.
The tank crews had gone a quarter of an hour ago, speeding towards the extraction point.
Major Iyanna watched in horror as a human soldier nearby became possesed by the Puppet Master. Thinking to herself, Humans are so ineffective at fighting demons. Weak minded fools, they don't even know the danger of demons. Having no choice, the elf put a bullet in his head before jumping behind some rubble to avoid gunfire from the other possesed humans.
The number of minions of the demon were growing constantly, quickly forcing her to retreat to the protection of a semi-ruined buliding. Using a miniature transmitter, she sent a message to the Imperial Air Navy to send support.
This is Major Iyanna Fayde, special agent for the Ministry of the Occult requesting immediate sky cruiser support. You have clearence to use artillery at the indicated coordinates.

"Any reply from Lord Draconis?" Barian asked into his headpiece, linking him into the dropship's central communication system and, more importantly, to the guy flying the ship.
"No messages recieved since his initial broadcast, commander, but do not worry. The probability of Lord Draconis' demise is only .8902731..." replied the even tone of the dropship's cyborg helmsman, Xio, before Barian angrily cut the feed. Standing before his platoon of veteran clerics and young muscle, Barian gave his standard pre-opp inspirational speach.
"Listen up!" he broadcasted across the ship's multiple storage chambers, now fitted to hold refugees and medical supplies. "I'm only going to say this once! We're not here to be heroes, allright?!! We're here to save lives. Stay near your assigned Clerics at all times and the daemons should be easy fodder. If you should lose your allies during this opperation, return to the ship immediatly..."
-------
Xio gave control of the ship to the navigation system AI while he linked into the dropship's communication network. What was left of Xio's humanity smirked; his message would arrive just as he flew into Akaton airspace.

Re: Healers have arrived
We are acting in response to Lord Draconis' wishes for humanitarian aid; a goodly number of healers and rescuers will land shortly. We are a force acustomed to demonic entities, but our main goal will be saving the lives of Akaton's inhabitants. We'll protect ourselves, but any major daemon complications are beyond our abilities.
Any additional information dealing with this unique situation would be greatly appreciated. 5 teams of 10 men each, at least two of which is a weilder of the positive energies, will begin to comb the standing portions of the city for survivors in 1 hour.
We've noticed the strange mech slaughtering the daemons, and can only hope it is one of yours.
End of Transmission

OOC:
I'm a little late in the game, but someone has to save those poor civilians! I'm all human, with very little knowledge of the arcane. Both clerics in each team have the ability to use the divine power of whatever deities they serve to generally heal the wounded. One of them has more experience, and concentrates on keeping the daemons at bay. The other has already blessed the other team members weapons: normal tech handguns and rifles of various caliber. All members carry a shield inscribed with the holy symbol of their patron deity. If faced with any real opposition, the teams tactifully retreat. They're here to mop up the lone daemon forces that are harassing the general population.
@Akaton: I expect at least Barians team to be completely wiped out by one of the big daemons, so go for it! :D

IC:
Location-City Block C
The bombardment tore the clanrats to shreds, ripped almost half the stormvermin to peices, inflicted about 1/4 loss on deathvermin, and penentrated one tank.(casulty list) The dimension-rippers(as they tear a hole for the daemons to come through) were perfectley okay behind personal warpfields generated by a techno device from Skyre. Unfortunatley, one malfunctioned and turned one into a mewling pile of flesh. The rift was also sealed, before another trio of daemons could emerge, but, a decent amount were brought from the rift(52 lesser ones, 4 Verminlords). With the lack of rift, and unlikelyness of a new one(as it was sealed, it was made stronger  ), they left.
Location-City Block B
The ritual was already completed, and as the daemons had been drawn to the already opened holes, more poured through, only to be teleported to the temples.
Location-City Block A
The Verminlord had stayed to watch over its children*(metophorically speaking).
The trails of magic were visible to the great daemon, and sensed and saw a large fluctuation,"Another great one is here, but not of me, or the great four, it is its own entity, bound to no one, greater vigilance is required".
Master Warlock Iskritt was not stupid, and had already learned what happened in sector C, he had another warp-shield generator placed, this one was backed up by several others, making only the equivalent of a(future tech version) nuclear warhead capable of cracking it......
To Horned Rat: The artillery isn't headed for you, it's aimed at the large group of humans under the control of Dronios/Puppet Master.
To Glyxork: The demons will stay away from the clerics, as they probably are carrying a cross (or the equivalent holy item of their religion). The demons that came through the original portal are strongly effected by holy relics and blessed weapons. Sacred shields or armor provide effective protection from the small demons. The demon from Dronios and the ones from The Horned Rat may behave differently.

Major Iyanna looked up as the familiar roar of a sky ship's engines drowned out the sounds of battle. A few hundred meters above, a massive Maleus class sky cruiser hovered, turrets taking aim.
On the bridge of the sky cruiser Iron Fist, the crew rushed to battle stations. The captain had received a message from Major Iyanna Fayde, and knew that if he didn't comply the Ministry of the Occult would probably have him killed.
"Alright men, let’s do this one by the book. Gunner, open fire on the designated coordinates."
One of the gunners looked disturbed, "But sir, those are human troops in the target area."
The captain replied coldly, "Unless you want to be the one to tell the Ministry why we failed our mission, send them straight to hell."
"Umm... Aye sir, opening fire." The gunner pressed a series of button, sending a volley of railgun shells into the possessed humans.
On the ground, Major Iyanna threw herself to the ground as shrapnel tore into the building she was hiding in. Screams rang out from the possessed humans outside as several of them were blown to bits by the kinetic energy shells raining down.

"What is happening!?" the Puppet Master screamed as if in a serious amount of pain.
"Why are my children falling? I must not fail! Press onwards my Children!"
He looked around him... He was alone...
The wretched Humans have destroyed my Children! They have to die!
OOC: Really pressed for time, post again later...
The combination of holy symbols, blessed weapons, and raw divine power allowed the teams to rescue what was left of the general population. All the teams were having no real difficulty transporting citizens back and forth between the newly appointed Safe Zone and the demon pestering regions of the slightly leveled city. The Safe Zone consisted of 4 elderly clerics, each in constant prayer and veneration, 16 young volunteers handing out medical supplies and food stuffs, and 7 good marksmen, all located just inside the daemon infested area.
Xio kept a close watch on the operation, mostly to keep an eye out for incoming daemons heading for the Safe Zone. After a small wave of even smaller daemons attacking a team, returning with a trail of startled citizens, were wiped from this plane of existence, Xio glanced quickly at his most recent information feed.
The cyborg almost grunted in disdain. A few city blocks were completely leveled and the damage to the affected portion of the city was quite massive. Human casualties in the daemon infested areas were higher than expected. As if to emphasize this point, the staccato of the Akaton sky cruiser’s rail gun turrets pierced through a few of the teams’ open mikes.
“What the hell are they doing?!! Don’t they have men down there?!!” shouted Barian, cursing clearly in aggressive confusion.
“I do not know the intent of our ally, commander,” calmly replied Xio, “perhaps I…” Xio’s polite inquiry was cut short by the sound of fired shots and pierced flesh.
“Grid D… cleared. Where to next? And no lengthy reply, you bucket of bolts!!”
Xio quickly pulled up an image of the city, almost made in real time by the constant stream of information gathered by the ships sensors. “I suggest going north-west to grid G, since the Skaven there care little for the state of Akaton’s citizens.”
There was a slight pause, followed by a low sigh that could have been mistaken for static interference.
“Copy that..." Barian depressingly stated.
OOC: It seems this thread seems to have died. Let's bring this to a close relatively soon.
To All: The main demon portal is sealed, and most of the original demons have been killed or forced back to the underworld. Everyone with troops/magi/demons in this RP, please post one more time outlining your withdrawal, defeat, or long-term presence in Akaton. Final losses for Akaton include 1,475,000 civilians killed or missing. One third of the capital has been seriously damaged or destroyed.
To Dronios: What is the fate of the Puppet Master? Does he live or does he die? Feel free to have him escape the demon hunters or go into hiding if you want him to survive. It would be rather interesting to have him living in Akaton, maybe he could start a cult or something.
To Horned Rat: At the rate you are bringing in demons, your rat soldiers will quickly come under attack by Akaton's army. A second sky cruiser is being deployed, supported by a squadron of Reaper VTOL aircraft.
To Weyr: Thanks for the support against the demons. Feel free to withdraw your troops whenever you want, our military will handle the extermination of the few remaining groups of demons. Akaton will send military support for Weyr if you ever ask. Your RPing skills are quite good, you're welcome in any thread I start.
To Glyxork: Thanks to you as well, there are few nations willing to send aid these days. I count you among my allies, and I'll try to return the favor at some point.
OOC: As i am still very busy, i cannot post in a while. I shall try to make a post tomorrow. But the Puppet Master will do anything to survive, to find his last followers and take over the world. The thing the Puppet Master performs below targets no important characters.

Sorry for post, lack of time.
OOC: Thanks to everyone who participated in this RP, it turned out really well. I'll RP the end of combat. Keep an eye out for a thread I'll create later, continuing this story. It will be titled "From the Ashes of Empires". The thread will describe the rebuilding of the capital and the hunting of the escaped demons.
IC: A moment after the sky cruiser had fired its railguns, Iyanna jumped up and ran from the ruined building she had been taking cover in. Darting between piles of rubble and wrecked vehicles, she fired short bursts from her pistols to keep the traitors behind cover. Knowing she had little ammunition left, she grabbed a short range radio to signal the cruiser above.
"This is Major Iyanna calling sky cruiser Iron Fist. I need immediate pickup, there are large numbers of enemies inbound on my position."
_____________________________________________________________
Aboard the sky cruiser, the comm. officer picked up the message, calling to the captain. "We're recieving a message from that Ministry demon hunter calling for pickup. What are your orders, sir?"
The captain turned to the officer, "You heard the lady, send a shuttle down there. I may not like it, but an agent of the Ministry outranks a captain."
_____________________________________________________________
Down on the streets, Iyanna loaded the last clips into her pistols, hoping that help arrived quickly. Hiding behind the wreck of a bus, she waited for the sky cruiser to send an aircraft. Though it took only a few minutes, it seemed like a lifetime. Hearing a high pitched engine, she looked up as a small VTOL aircraft departed the cruiser's cargo bay.
As the aircraft approached, it attracted heavy fire from the possessed humans. Iyanna jumped out of cover, guns blazing. One of the humans was cut down immediately, with several others diving behind rocks. The aircraft landed a dozen meters away, and she decided to make a run for it. Just before she got through the door, a bullet struck her in the shoulder, piercing her armor. She screamed, knocked to the ground by the force of the impact. A crew member from the cruiser helped her inside, the VTOL taking off a moment later, the pilot expertly dodging enemy fire.
____________________________________________________________
A minute later, they arrived aboard the cruiser. Waving away a medic, Iyanna demanded to speak with the captain. Arriving at the bridge, she shouted to the captain, "Why have you stopped firing!"
Shocked by her sudden arrival, the captain replied, "Major, those coordinates contain human soldiers."
The medic had finally caught up with her as she grew annoyed by the captain, "I know what you were firing on captain, but I gave that order for a reason. Those humans have become possessed by some sort of demon."
Pointing to a tactical display with her uninjured arm, continuing, "Now look, most of them have escaped into the city. Fire on them before they all get away."
Iyanna paused a moment, letting the medic tend to her wound. She thought to herself that she had done her job well. With the demons mostly defeated, the rest of this was best left for the military. But at what cost had they won, she thought, looking over the ruins of the heavily populated center city.
OOC: It's been really fun (especially for my first NS RP ever!) so expect I'll keep an eye out for your next one!
