The Baptism of Fire is a pre-World Cup tournament for debutant teams to send their WC-17 squad to their first warm-up competition to gain vital experience (and crucial KPB-ranking points). For instance, the last BoF winner, Sarzonia, jumped from rank 200 (new nation status) to rank 72. This is a huge leap. Consider that a nation that played in the BoF without RP'ing merely went from 200 up to 183.

RP bonus is extremely important in the BoF, as all teams start off equal. This means that if one nation has a better RP bonus than another, they have a better chance of winning. Roleplaying your matches gives you a better chance of winning your matches RP Bonus will be the only seperator in the pack. We hope that the non-participating nations will be weeded out or at least noted prior to the start of World Cup 16.

There will be two sections in the competition, The Vilita Section and the Starblaydia Section. Each will run similar structures depending on the number of nations involved. The Champions of the Vilita Section and the Stablaydia will meet in Vilita at the Tivali Ring Stadium for the Baptism of Fire Cup Final. The Regional Runners-Up will meet in Starblaydia at the Jader Barbalho Stadium for the Third-Placed Playoff Match.

[OOC: That happened to me the first time I did the U21 World Cup. I've decided to either 1) type the information in a separate word processing document and then copy and paste or 2) select all and copy and then if the post is wiped out, just paste the info back in.]

Bring it on Aquilina we will crush you like a paper cup (all in the spirit of the game of course).

Ha! You will never be able to penetrate our defense, and our offensive firepower will destroy your souls! (all in the spirit of the game of course)

And so, the national team, coached by Opüdo Culio:

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Stocus Marmoreus (28, Facundia) - The 6'5" keeper uses his massive wingspan to get to many balls that he wouln't be able to reach because of his high center of gravity. He has great agility and can reach the top corner from just over the halfway point of the goal.

18 - Proximus Excipelo (35, Nidola FC) - The veteran, mainly on the team to mentor Bælükas, will nonetheless provide quality backup for Marmoreus. He may not be as tall, but has great leg strength and leaping ability.

30 - Melet Bælükas (22, Sciurius) - The most aggressive of the three, he plays every match with fire and determination to make up for his lack of skill. Look for this rising star to develop very well before the next Cup.

DEFENDERS

2 - LB Anularius Messor (27, Ubertas FC) - While he may not be able to kick the long ball, this player's great speed and quickness help him to defend any player who comes down the wing. He blocks many cross attempts from his side of the field, and rushes in to clear those from the right.

5 - CB Tueri Girillo (34, Nidola FC) - The veteran is the most tactically sound of anyone. His mental abilities and positioning are second to none, and he is the utmost expert on delaying tactics.

13 - RB Ditras Marcos (28, Nova Malta) - While a little slow, hemakes up for it with his tackling and positioning. If any ball is played to his mark, you can bet that he's going to get there first.

6 - SW Ancora (30, Mentarium) - A very powerful tackler, he is feared around the League for his dangerous challenges and deep kicks. As long as he doesn't give up any penalties, he should be the best player of this unit.

15 - LB Longævus Aluta (37, Chalybs) - Actually already has his first international goal, in the Masters Tournament. While he knows he won't get one here, he wants to be a part of Aquil history before he calls it a career.

3 - CB Mendax Roriges (24, Farca City) - Brings lots of youthful intensity and speed to this defensive team. While he isn't too strong or powerful, he can mark any man on the field and make sure they don't get near the goal.

9 - LB Protervus Gusto (26, Incurtio United) - He's a true shutdown defenseman on the wing, who doesn't allow any penetration. He needs to improve his speed and conditioning before he can make any true contributions.

4 - SW Giber Zeloti (22, Incurtio United) - The young sweeper has some skill, but often get lost in the game and makes mental errors that result in a goal for the other team. With experience, he should become a top-notch player.

26 - RB Levisomnus Obseror (25, Viculus) - He's overcome countless injuries and come back near the top of his game each time, but a strained quadricep just before this tournament hurt his chances at playing.

MIDFIELDERS

7 - LM Tomus Flögel (31, Sciurius) - Has the power of deadly free kicks, and superb crossing ability. He sets up many more goals than he scores, but if he gets a shot, it'll be a very difficult save for the keeper.

22 - CM Istic Præfrigidi (34, Viculus) - Uses his dribbling skills to break the defense, and then finds the open man for a great scoring opportunity. He should be able to pick up some good assits in this tournament.

11 - CM Acriter Carbasus (29, Nidola FC) - Has great offensive and defensive skills. He has a good shot, but also great tackling and marking skills. The anchor of the midfield couldn't be a better player.

14 - RM Breva Haesit (26, Flavia United) - His cross may come off harder than his shot, but when he shoots, the keeper almost never has a chance to make the save, as the ball is already in the opposite corner.

12 - LM Ligeris Ungulis (30, Facundia) - Ha great speed and endurance, but lacks great skill. He often plays defense on the opposing midfielder, then attacks the defenseman on his side, effectively wearing out the other team.

36 - LM Ephi Direptor (28, Convallis) - He shoots harder than anyone else, though his accuracy could be better. More often than not, the shot goes into the crowd, but when it's on net, no keeper can react quickly enough to save it.

19 - CM Ostrea Tarraconis (23, Ducentis) - Led his team into the Optimus Division just last year, and as a result, has very little experience against top-quality teams. He is a great tackler and passer, but doesn't quite have the shooting skills yet.

31 - CM Horesci Xiphior (25, Volatilis) - While he has a Greek-sounding name, he plays fiercer than anyone on the field, and in fact, is kept out of the starting lineup for fear that he'll pick up a red card early and kill the team's chances at a win. His great shooting skills could be useful in a PK shootout.

40 - RM Gry Ingenii (38, Nova Malta) - He's still mad that he wasn't selected for the last national team. The fact that said team never existed should tell you what type of player he is.

44 - CM Tristi Sances (22, Flavia United) - Has good speed and dribbling skills, but lacks a good shot and isn't a great defender. He need to work harder in practice if he ever wants to make this team.

28 - LM Arx Epotus (21, Convallis) - Wanted to be on the squad so badly that he turned down an invitation to play for the U21 team. Should help the starters in practices with his endurance and good skills for his age.

FORWARDS

21 - LF Pontifex Auguratius (32, Incurtio City) - The captain has a deadly shot, great dribbling skills, and superb awareness of the defense and his teammates. He can almost sense the unmarked player on the other side of the box.

10 - RF Ronal Cuniculus (26, Mentarium) - "The Rabbit" is simply the best out there. His speed and quickness allow him to navigate around any defender, and he can place the ball wherever he wants to in the goal.

16 - LF Resupo Cornix (28, Mentarium) - The other half of the league-leading Mentarium duo, he isn't quite up to Auguratius' level. However, he and the Rabbit have great chemistry and they give each other assists constantly.

24 - LF Inlusio Flagrantia (26, Volatilis) - If another forward gives up the ball to the defense, you can bet that he'll be racing over to get it back. His passion is great, and there's no question that he deserves to be a starter on this team, if not for the great talent around him.

56 - RF Rämï Pumiliö (21, Nidola FC) - This young striker, while small, has a beautiful left-footed shot and can maneuver around any defenseman. He skipped the U21 tournament to be able to train against better opponents in the main events.

20 - RF Stano Capisos (25, Chalybs) - Has a good shot, and good passing ability, but lacks the great ball control that would give him the start. If not for the logjam at forward, he would definitely get lots of playing time late in the game.

32 - LF Fontis Ductis (22, Ubertas FC) - The last man on the team has good striking ability, but not much else. He lacks passing and dribbling, but with time he should be able to improve his skills sufficiently to lead the League in scoring.

Eystrck's Lad's For the Baptism Of Fire Extravaganza!

-Carthage and Troy-Hopefully we'll see you at your best game!-

~The Fury- Coached By Herafo Glacier~

Attackers:

Jackle Sach-21- Usually fields for us as a midfielder but this game he put his speed and skills to the test.
Samar Theron-22-On his best games, this lad can pretty much out-run and out smart any player he comes up against. Let’s hope it's his best game :)
Ettle Ramos-19- One of the strongest players on the field. He has a great shot, and can place a ball on any part of the field.

Midfielders:

Jamaia Ayinde-21- Can withhold himself anywhere on the field. However, he is straight off injury, but hopefully this won’t affect his ability to hold his stamina.
Turon Simone-20- A former ‘bench-warmer’, Turon proved his ability of great distributing skills, and showed the team he can contribute more than just handing out water. ;)
Risque Business-23- More than just a name, Risque is a comfort to the team in that he is always consistent as a player.
Trevor Mache-19- Averaging about a goal a game, this young player contributes great skill and determination to The Fury.

Defenders:

Gari Shultie-19- One of the best built lad’s on the team, Shulty provides a great “stonewall” effect in that he must get the ball, or the player.
Charlie Smalls-21-Known for his outstanding foot, this lad is very reliable in making sure all the opposing team dares not to invade The Fury’s home.
Teriaki Chu-20-Coming here from China may have been rough, but fitting right in with this team was not for him. He brings speed and intelligence to the field. The Fury is lucky to have him.

Goal Keeper:

Dave Hustil-22- Has been a member of the team for 3 years and has always been consistent in his ability to outsmart the attackers and keep his saving average up.

Subs:

Bubba James-20- Bubba is and injured player (broken foot), just about ready to join his team again. He is waiting for his chance to start again as right attacker.
Ryane Shrit-20- After an improved season for this fellow, Glacier is attempting to give him a shot at mid.

Falcons Destroy the Souls of Omniworld's National Team
All in the spirit of the game, of course

In a strange and shocking development Friday, the Aquil National football team stole the souls of their Omniworld opponents during the play of the match.

"Coach Ed [Opüdo Culio] told us before the game that if we went up by 3 goals during the game, we could take their souls," said midfielder Acriter Carbasus. "But they have been returned, and everything's back to normal. We think."

The match did start off promisingly enough for the Falcons, when just 6 minutes in, Auguratius headed in a beautiful cross from Haesit to put Aquiliana up 1 early. Shortly after that, the Falcons began to dominate play, winning every ball and tackling every man, until Freedman fouled Flögel just outside the penalty area out of frustration, and was given a yellow card. Flögel superbly bent the ball around the wall and into the goal, giving Aquiliana a 2-0 halftime lead.

Again in the second half, the Falcons came out flying, with tons of energy and motivation, and soon enough, Cuniculus broke through the defense with some great moves and easily put the ball past the keeper. It was at this point that the aforementioned soul-stealing happened.

This turned out to be a huge mistake. Without their souls, the Omniworld team turned aggressive and ruthless, tackling any player within their sight. With his newfound undead abilities, Dvorak was able to knock over 3 Aquil defensemen by kicking the ball into their heads, and then scored for good measure. Tensions grew until finally, Tras took down the goalkeeper Marmoreus in the box and nearly bit off the referee's arm when he attempted to send the player off. That was enough for Culio.

"I told them, at that point, it was really necessary to give the souls back, as it was just becoming too dangerous," said Culio after the game. "I don't think we'll be doing anything like this anymore."

Final Score:
Omniworld 1 - 3 Aquiliana
(Dvorak 72) - (Auguratius 6, Flögel 34, Cuniculus 65)

Save Our Souls
Omniworld beaten by Aquiliana

In a disasterous performance by the Omniworld side Omniworld fell to the bottom of the table after a 3-1 thrashing at the hands of Aquiliana. The coach (Lucus Hoy) who always looks for a positive said after the game: "we where demolished but Dvorak scored the last goal in the game and that gave us some momentum entering the next match even if we had to have the players loose their souls." Indeed the Omniworld players had their souls stolen as Aquiliana midfielder Carbasus told The Aquiliana Times "Coach Ed [Opüdo Culio] told us before the game that if we went up by 3 goals during the game, we could take their souls."

It was not a good start to the tournament for Omniworld who are expected to at least make the runner-up position. The game had a worse start when Auguratius headed a cross into the back of the net at the sixth minute. The Falcons went to the break 2-0 up courtesy of a Flogel freekick after a Freedman foul.

The 2nd half started with a bang for Aquiliana when Cuniculus put a goal past Housden in the 65th minute. It was at this point Aquiliana made good on their promise to steal the souls of Omniworld with disasterous consequences as Omniworld, now immortal, tore Aquilina apart and it was only a matter of time before Dvorak scored in the 72nd minute. It was all too little too late, however, as Omniworld lost 3-1. The Omniworld side was weakend in the latter stages Tras recieved a Yellow Card and recieves a 2 match ban.

"I don't think we'll be doing anything like this anymore." Said Aquiliana coach Culio after the game (about soul stealing). Hoy stated "I hope I won't have to steal their souls to get them motivated for next week".

Falcons Continue On Their Quest For Glory
Narrowly defeating Regional rivals Pedriana

The Aquil national team continued their win streak Saturday, narrowly defeating the Pedriana national team 2-1.

"It's always a good feeling to get bragging rights over such a close neighbor," said manager Opüdo Culio. "Hopefully this won't endanger our nation's good relations with them," he said jokingly.

But you just never know with the Pedrians, especiaaly after such a tight, closely fought game as this.

It was a dark and stormy night in Starblaydia. Play was very even throughout the match, with both teams struggling to get any shots on net. By the time midfielder Istic Præfrigidi got an opening in the box, the Pedrian goalkeeper's movement had become restricted from 22 minutes of inactivity in the cold rain, and as a result, Præfrigidi was able to put away the shot easily.

But Pedriana wasn't giving up. Taking advantage of the wet conditions, Jalkut was able to fake Ancora and make him fall into the mud, adding insult to injury with an amazing goal. The Falcons were getting nervous as the halftime whistle went off.

"We were really getting worried," said fullback Anularius Messor. "But then, Coach Ed found this old box in the locker room, and inside it was umbrellas and long shirts to wear under our jerseys. We thought, 'Now we have the advantage.'"

And it appeared that they did, dominating play from the start of the second half. Culio had made substitutions for youth and energy, putting Cornix in for Auguratius up top and Roriges in for Girillo at the back. The substitutions paid off as Cornix was able to receive a cross from the wing a few minutes in and volley it into the goal. The Falcons played their best shutdown defense for the rest of the match, as Marmoreus only had to make 2 saves in the second half to ensure the victory.

"We're all very pleased with this result, but I'm just as happy to get back on dry land," laughed the veteran Longævus Aluta in the locker room.

Final Score:
Aquiliana 2 - 1 Pedriana
(Præfrigidi 22, Cornix 53) - (Jalkut 35)

Aquiliana 2 - 1 PEDRIANA

Early Miscue Leads to Loss

STARBLAYDIA -- The second AOCAF competition is over now, and Pedriana most certainly did not win it. In fact, to be quite blunt about it, the Llamas gave the worst performance of all ten nations there. So surely Pedriana would look to put AOCAF behind them and look for glory here in the Baptism of Fire. Strangely enough, everything still remains within the region of Atlantian Oceania for the moment, with Pedriana's group competing in Starblaydia and the Llamas' first match coming against regional rivals Aquiliana (certainly not to be confused with Aquilla).

The starting lineup remained the same as it had in the AOCAF tournament:

Starting XI (standard formation: 4-4-2)
1. GK - J.C. Steich (27)
2. D L - Raleigh Humbard (27)
3. D C - Renato Corvo (22)
4. D C - Chong Imbimbo (28)
5. D R - Daron Kusner (30)
6. M L - Domenic Males (27)
7. M C - Wilber Reihe (31)
8. M C - Dong Khanponaphan (22)
9. M R - Eusebio Lardydell (26)
10. F C - Paris Canetta (21)
11. F C - Otha Jalkut (28)

Substitutes
12. GK - Otha Woelfle (19)
13. D RC - Antonio Pasana (29)
14. M RL - Dong Hainsey (28)
15. DM LC - Buster Matskin (23)
16. F RLC - Sol Svedine (21)

Reserves
17. GK - Samuel Varagona (28)
18. D L - King Malinky (24)
19. AM C - Lawrence Sokolski (21)
20. F LC - Miguel Cavalaris (22)
21. D/M R - Rashad Nurthen (25)

The Pedrianan national practice fields are in a relatively dry part of the nation, and as such, the Llamas weren't really prepared for the wet weather they would receive at Foundation Road. The first twenty minutes saw little activity from either side, but then Aquiliana's Istic Præfrigidi suddenly found an opening in the Pedrianan defense, and the less-than-mobile J.C. Steich was unprepared for the ensuing shot. 1-0 Aquiliana. But about ten minutes later, Otha Jalkut would retaliate, sending defender Ancora into the mud as he scored the equalizer in the 35th.

The Aquils seemed to be wearing a bit more clothing as they reappeared on the pitch for the second half. Pedriana coach Olé Retaguma asked a nearby referee if this was allowed, but the ref did not do anything to the Aquil players. Nevertheless, the opposition appeared to be more comfortable in the cold, wet conditions, and substitute Cornix wasted no time in putting Aquiliana on top again. The uninspired and exhausted Llamas were unable to make anything resembling a comeback, and it would be Aquiliana to take the full three points.

"So we lost. So what? That's perfectly normal," said Etuskight citizen Atma Nugar, who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity.

The next match is another AO affair against Flexsys Cefn Druids at Victory Park.

Final score:
Aquiliana 2 (Præfrigidi 22, Cornix 53)

GOOD START FOR THE GOLDS
Trefor Owens on Flexsys Cefn Druids at the Cup of Harmony

They may be playing in the shadows of the nation they gained independance from at the moment, but Flexsys Cefn Druids have made a solid start to their international life just over Bekk in Starblaydia, where games are almost like home matches, not neutral ones.

In their first two games, they have produced two 3-2 wins, firstly asgainst Kirstiriera on matchday one, then, after resting on matchday two, against Pedriana on matchday three. The later match came as a bit of a shock to the Druidish players, as some back home were expecting a team of giant evil spiders, but after overcoming the shock of playing humans and going two down quickly because of it. However, the Druidish players showed tremendous spirit, especially the two strikers, Andreas and Vincent, who have three goals each in the opening two matches.

However, the Golds games are getting progressively tougher. Victory against Kiristriera was almost expected, while many people in Flexsys Cefn Druids felt that a draw against Pedriana would have been good. Omniworld and Aquilliana are left for the Golds to play, both of who should beat the Druidish team. But they seem to have a lot more team spirit than most international teams, especially considering the strength of national identity amongst the Flexsys Cefn Druidish people. We shall see.

Falcons Narrowly Escape Against Kirstiriera
Only need 1 more point to qualify

With a close win Sunday against Kirstiriera, Aquiliana virtually secured their berth in the next round. The only possible way they could fail to make it would be if Omniworld won both their remaining games, Aquiliana lost to Flexsys Cefn Druids, and Omniworld held the tiebreakers.

But just because Kirstiriera had no points in their first 2 games was no reason to play them soft -- the Falcons found that out the hard way this afternoon. Kirstiriera, knowing they needed to win this game to stay alive, came out firing, and Aquiliana, who had been working noticeably less in practice, were caught by surprise.

After Haesit was beaten down the wing for a third straight time, the Kirsti player was able to get the shot off. Marmoreus made the initial save, but had no chance on the rebound. Infuriated by the youngster's lack of work ethic, Coach Ed put in a player who would appreciate his playing time, 38-year-od Gry Ingenii. The team was able to hold the less-skilled Kirsti team off for the rest of the half, but were quite shaken as they headed to the locker rooms.

When Aquiliana came back out, there was a noticeable absence -- star forward Pontifex Auguratius never came out of the locker room until after the game. When asked about this in the postgame interviews, the captain said, "I wanted to make a statement to this team. If they were just going to slack off and ease their way to a championship, then I didn't want to play with them anymore."

Coach Ed was thinking along the same lines, but somewhat less severely. Underachieving defenseman Ditras Marcos was substituted out, replaced by Protervus Gusto. Inlusio Flagrantia came in for Auguratius.

Inspired by their captian's statement, the Falcons came out blazing. They were playing like a team that was not to be denied, and soon enough, Cuniculus put in his second goal of the tournament from just outside the box.

But the Kirstis were not giving up. They made substitutions for defense, and soon the Aquil squad found themselves having major troubles just moving the ball into the offensive end. Time was running down, and the Falcons' perfect record was on the line. Suddenly, the substitute Flagrantia took matters into his own hands. He put as many moves as he could think of together, and amazingly broke through 3 defenders on his way to the goal, finaly being taken down by the sweeper. Flagrantia put away the ensuing penalty, and the Falcons escaped this game with another win.

"I think our day off tomorrow is going to be made a practice day, and I don't think any players here are going to argue with that," said Coach Ed.

Final Score:
Kirstiriera 1 - 2 Aquiliana

Omniworld have decided to field an unchanged line-up after a victory in the last match. "The time off has given us all time to recooperate" said (coach) Hoy, "and the team has been working well together in the week off." The only dissapointment for the Zombies is that they allowed in a late consellation goal.

Xavier Tras still has one game left on his suspension but sources say he may not be recalled. "We don't dolerate foul play" Omniworld FA President Christopher Hockman said today, "Our policy is that he will spend an extra game on the bench. The same goes for Freedman (who recieved a Yellow Card), however he has served his time."

Y. Dvorak is chasing the Golden boot after scoring a nice hatrick in the match "Sometimes they just happen I guess" said a pleased Yvon. (J. Peacock was the other scorer).

The Fury Has Impressed Eystrck in the Last Three Matches!!!! :p

-Game one against Carthage and Troy was an interesting one for The Free Land of Eystrck being that the last team The Force, were defeated by the almighty Carthage and Troy in the World Cup 5 Tournament. This Game however, The Fury came prepared, and anticipated the competition. With two quick goals made by Sach, Thefury had a nice lead. Sach has been playing very well in the tournament. In this game he showed that he can out-run and outsmart even a great defence. Later on, the opposing team scored a goal off a free kick, after Simone made an illegal high-kick. The rest of the game captured The Fury's true skill and determination for an important first victory. -Eystrck 4 Carthage and Troy 1-

-Game two against Liechtenistan was another important win, however, not as exciting. The first goal made by Theron occured in the first five minutes. After a long ball made by Shultie, Theron headed fast up the right line and quickly made a give and go with Sach, resulting in a goal. Ayinde assisted Sach in the next goal off a corner, Sach timed the ball perfect and deflected it off his rump, into the net. The next goal was also made by Sach. It was madeoff a free kick given just outside the box. Business got carded yellow after arguing with the Ref on a "clean slide-tackle." Glacier commented that he won't be starting the in the next match  - Eystrck 4 Liechtenistan 0-

-Lastly, game three consisted of nervous fans. The score remained 0-0, well into the second half. it broke when Chu got ansy as he headed for a fast break up the field, only to be double-teamed he then distributed the ball off to Ayinde where he dropped a quick ball to Theron, and he finally sinked it. It was great competition. Lemmistana held us off pretty well and gave Hustil a couple of threatening shots. Glacier was very pleased with Chu's risky attempt. Take a guess why.... :p - Eystrck 1 Lemmistana 0-

-Hopefully the excitement of winning continues against our next competitor!-

Hoping For Continued Success
Falcons must continue winning streak

After finishing off group play with a perfect 4-0-0 record by defeating Flexsys Cefn Druids Monday night, Aquiliana and Flexsys will play a rematch tonight, which will decide which team goes to the final game.

"We need to keep our focus," said Coach Ed. "We're spending this afternoon working on shooting drills and set plays, things that will keep our players in top physical shape and, hopefully, improve their chances at going through.

Aquiliana showed their skills against the Older Druids Monday night, in a game that was not as close as the score showed. Just 20 minutes into the game, Pontifex Auguratius was able to volley in a rebound off of a Flögel shot, putting the Falcons up 1-0. Later in the period, he was able to head a corner into the back post of the net, giving his team a 2-0 lead.

Flexsys tried their best to get back in the game. Cymru was able to break through Girillo's tough defense for just a second, then lay a quick pass off to Andrews, who was able to catch the rookie keeper Bælükas out of position for the goal, making the halftime score 2-1.

Having learned during halftime that Pedriana and Omniworld had tied, and that both teams had already qualified for the semifinal, the coaches sent in some of their scrub players for this now-meaningless game. Tarraconis, Xiphior, and Pumiliö went in for the Falcons, replacing Præfrigidi, Carbasus, and Cuniculus, respectively.

The game went without much major action until the 76th minute, when Pumiliö was taken down in the penalty area without the ball. Coach Ed sent in the superior shooter, Auguratius, to take the penalty, and he easily put it away, completing his hat trick and giving his team a 3-1 lead.

The rest of the game was largely uneventful, as most of the players played soft and unaggressive, to prevent any injuries before the next game. Most of them, anyway. Xiphior showed exactly why he's not a starter, taking down Merthyr 25 yards out, and earning himself a yellow card. Merthyr was able to bend the free kick onto the head of Vincent, and Bælükas had no play, making the final score 3-2.

"I'm very excited about the upcoming semifinal," said Auguratius after the game. "I'm sure it will be a very close, very exciting game, and I know we'll be bringing our best."

Qualifies For The Semi-Finals Against
Liechtenistan!! :fluffle:

The last game against Pterodactyl was a crucial game for The Fury. The Coach put in his starting line-up. Theron and Sach pretty much controlled the offense in the first half, and the possession was clearly ours for most of the game. About ten minutes into the game, Ayinde got hurt from the opposing defender. As he went up for a header, he got swiped from underneath, and was complaining about his ankle. He was then subed for with Shrit as his replacement. The first goal occurred in the first half bye Sach on a fast break down the left side. He beat a man one-on-one and sinked it in the right corner. The second goal occurred in the second half, made by Ramos. Surprisingly, he actually broke up a foot tackle, and managed to take it from there, ending it with a chip over the goalies head. The coach is extremely well with Sach's performance, as well as the rest of the team, and hopes it continues through the semi-finals. :p Eystrck 2 Pterodactyl 0

The Fury had a nice win against Liechtenistan in round two...lets just hope the team is smart enough to not let their confidence out-do them, and to just play their game.

Falcons make it to BoF Final!
Aquils advance at an all-AO affair

In a match that will go down in history as one of the greatest, the Aquiliana Falcons defeated their close regional rivals, the Flexsys Cefn Druids, in an extra-time BoF semifinal. Continuing on the Atlantian Oceania theme, the Falcons will play the Fury of Eystrck in Vilita's Tivali Ring Stadium tomorrow.

"Im extremely pleased with our performance tonight," said Coach Ed after the game. "I think everyone knows that this could be one of the most evenly matched finals of any tournament ever."

The game started off very evenly matched, with both teams playing excellent defense. Tackling was abundant and passes were being intercepted by both teams. 3 Druid shots in a row were blocked by Aquil defenders. Finally, a hurried clearance attempt by Ancora went over the end line, giving the Druids a corner. Just before the kick, Myffanwy stormed up the pitch at top speed, unmarked, and found a hole in the defense. He just got enough of the ball to deflect it past a sprawling Marmoreus.

The Druids continued their assault, trying to wear down the defense, until late in the half, Girillo was beginning to get worn out by the constant attacking and switching of fields, along with having to defend against this for the second day in a row. As a result, he wasn't able to properly defend Andrews, who put the ball in the net and his team up 2-0 at the break.

No one's quite sure what happened in that locker room. All that anyone can say is that when they came out, Roriges was in the game, Girillo was out, and the Falcons were playnig like never before. Slowly, the tides began to turn.

Then, 20 minutes into the half, Cuniculus used his breakaway speed to receive a pass from Haesit and break the Druids' offside trap, with no one able to catch him. It was quite a simple matter scoring the goal.

But the team was running out of time. Minute after minute, chance after chance, passed without a great opportunity. Until Tomus Flögel decided he was tired of trying to set up his teammates, and took matters into his own hands. Flögel switched into the center mid position, moving a tired Acriter Carbasus out to the left. He managed to receive a pass from Haesit in the box, and split not only the defenders, but also Eifans, for the game-tying goal.

With neither team able to make any progress, the game went to extra time, and a closely fought battle it was. Both teams were fiercer than ever, knowing this was their last chance to get into the final game. Then, Richards was beaten down the left side by Ungulis, who had subbed in for the exhausted Carbasus. Richards had no choice but to foul Ungulis, just outside the box, to prevent a sure goal. However, that sure goal came when Flögel went up to take the free kick, bending it easily around the wall and into the bottom left corner of the goal. A few minutes later, Haesit broke throught the defense to grab the insurance goal. Neither team was able to make any other attempts on goal, and the Falcons celebrated their 4-2 victory, placing them in the final game.

Final Score:

Carthage and Troy's hopes dashed at the BOF tournament

Carthage and Troy finished the BOF tournament with only 4 points, 1 win and 1 draw. Below is a brief description of how each player faired in the Tournament:

Jiram Hampsicora Goalkeeper
Played in all 4 games but was sent off in the game against Liechtenistan for handling the ball outside the zone. Was relatively strong throughout the tournament. But his sending off in the final game may have been what cost Carthage and Troy the game, and consequentially, a position in the next round.
Average Match Rating: 5

Joey Sirom Goalkeeper
Came on as a sub for Jiram Hampsicora, played only 21 minutes.
Average Match Rating: 6

Salicar Savioli Right Wing
Played in all 4 games. Incredibly fast on the wing, scored in the game against Pterodactyl and set up the goal against Eystrck.
Average Match Rating: 8

Hector do Caracas Central Midfield
Played in first two games. This old veteran was disappointing, he lacked stamina and had to be substituted early in both games he played in.
Average Rating: 4.5

Quim Cardona Left Wing
Played in all 4 games. Beautiful ball control and accurate crosses right into the box. Somewhat lacking in strength however (he was easily pushed off the ball on numerous occasions.
Average Match Rating: 6.5

Alexandros Zinnridi Central Midfield
Played last 3 games, great fast paced attacking mid-fielder. Played especially well when playing with Dani Garcia, they combined to make a formidable offensive force.
Average Match Rating: 7.33

Abdalonymus Da Silva Central Midfield
Played in the first 3 games. Was an amazing playmaker, his passing skills and vision is what clinched Carthage and Troy's only victory against Pterodactyl. Was injured in the game against Liechtenistan.
Average Match Rating: 7.66

Admago al-Jazar Defensive Midfield
Played first 2 games. Great aggressive tackles. At times it seemed he was practically the only player willing to even tackle the Eystrck players. Had a disciplinary problem however and his clumsy tackles gave him 2 yellow cards which caused him to be sent off in injury time against Lemmistana.
Average Match Rating: 6.5

Gino Janucci Striker
The Sicilian raised wonder kid failed to really make his mark on the tournament. He always seem to beat the opponents defence with some dazzling bit of dribbling, only to mess it up at the last minute with weak inaccurate shots.
Average Match Rating: 6.33

Dani Garcia Striker
By far the most impressive striker on the Carthage and Troy team, scored a breath taking bicycle kick goal against Liechtenistan.
Average Match Rating: 7.75

Aenas Laomedon Striker
The 'Trojan Horse' did not get a chance to shine. He only played in the final 10 minutes of the game against Liechtenistan.
Average Match Rating: 6

Hasdrubal Astro Central Defender
Played in 3 games. Played poor, made far too many costly defensive errors. His failure to co-ordinate with the rest of the defence was possibly what cost them the game against Eystrck.
Average Match Rating: 3.66

Eshmunazar Fierelus Central Defender
Was like a brick wall in defence. He was also deadly with headers, almost scored twice from the head on set pieces.
Average Match Rating: 7.5

Bomilcar Kandaulo Central Defender
Solid performances, performed some game saving tackles.
Average Match Rating: 7.25

Baalhaan Nunyez Right Back
Perfect example of Punic "Total Football", was solid in defence and also fast on the counter attack down the wing, he also played some very accurate crosses to the strikers.
Average Match Rating: 7.66

Hamilax Astegal Left Back
Another great wing back, scored a breathtaking goal from outside the area in the game against Pterodactyl. However, unlike his counter part on the right wing, he sometimes neglected his defensive duties and the central defenders were forced to cover for him.
Average Match Rating: 6.75

Haggith Abimiki Right Back
The 'Desert Fox' got his chance to shine in the second game, was solid in defence but did not impress enough to replace Baalham Nunyez in the following games.

Falcons fall just short
Couldn't quite get the goals that mattered

The Falcons had won every international match they had ever played, going into this one. They had a perfect 5-0-0 record. And they were superbly confident.

But there was a problem.

The Eystrck Fury had all the same things going for them - 5 straight wins, a perfect record, and a spot in the finals. And it was close to a home game for both teams - both nations are located in the same region as host Vilita, although no one knows for sure where exactly Eystrck is.

And at the end of the day, Aquiliana wasn't able to pull through, losing in a 2-1 heartbreaker. Striker Pontifex Auguratius came through beautifully with his 5th goal of the tournament to open the scoring, but the excitement was short-lived. Eystrck's Ettle Ramos was able to put in the equalizer just 5 minutes later, and it was tied at the half. Nothing much happened in the second half, until a Falcon corner was intercepted by the Furious keeper, who quickly punted it away over everyone. Everyone except Eystrck forward Samar Theron, who had been waiting just behind half-field to avoid an offside call in a play the Fury had obviously practiced beforehand. Unmarked, the forward dribbled all the way down the pitch, leaving Marmoreus not much of a chance at all. Exhausted, the Falcons couldn't come up with the tying goal, and were vanquished for the first time.

"We had a good run in this tournament, and combined with our U21 team's success in their tournament against powerhouses from around the world, I'm very excited to see what our world ranking will be come the main event," said Coach Ed. "Of course, I'm disappointed that we couldn't take the final step, but Eystrck was undefeated as well, and they deserved it as much as we did. I guess I'll have to settle with a bag of Gold Medal flour."

Final Score:
Estryck 2 - 1 Aquiliana
(Ramos 38, Theron 76) - (Auguratius 33)

Eystrck Wins The BoF Cup! :D

-In a fair game against The Falcons, both Aquiliana and Eystrck were pleased with the ending result. Aquiliana already statee in a recent post, and quite nicely I might add, that both The Fury and The Falcons had been un-defeated up to this point. Even in this game they gave us quite a shocker when striker Pontifex Auguratius made a quick goal in the beginning. But The Fury kept its title when 5 minutes later Ramos sinked one in. The game was now tied. Understandingly, the crowd began to roar, and the pressure was on. Who was going to take home the Gold? No one would know since both teams have had an outstanding record up untill this point. However, when the crowd had begin to grow tired, and a drawed result was quite expected, the mighty Therons' agility threw the crowd to the edge of their seats. He was waiting for this one all along. The chance to outbeat everyone and make the winning goal, that everyone in the Free Land Of Eystrck will be talking about for days. Aquiliana deserved greatly to be in the final match. The were our best competitor, and gave The Fury a lasted feel of excitement to win against such a great team.

Eystrck 2 Aquiliana 1

Reporter:"So...Theron, where are you going to put this symbol of achievement you have acquired this afternoon?"
Theron:"Are you kidding me!..I'm gonna wear this medal of honor tonight while I'm making love to my wife!! :fluffle: "

There you have it, I am quite sure we are going to hear this celebration in Eystrck for quite some time!!!!!!!!!!!!
