This is run inconjucntion with the shentavo academy.
__

Saria pursed her lips as she looked over the student’s faces. It was the same Telekenetics room as the year before, except Genesis was not there to teach anymore. It was the first day of classes, the orientation being the previous night, and it was exciting for the newcomers, familiar to the returning students, but each group wanted to expand more on their knowledge. While Genesis wasn’t there, Saria followed in her footsteps.

Saria was around 5”11 with blue eyes and light golden blonde hair that fell just above her waist. There was a tattoo on the inside of her left wrist that resembled a sun. She wore a long light blue skirt which gathered at her hip, and a white shirt with a silk overlay. A bit of her hair was pulled back in a blue crystal clip behind her left ear. She looked harmless, but looks were always deceiving here.

“Welcome to Telekenetics,” she said and reached toward her desk. A small ball came to her, and levitated and inch above her hand. “in here you will learn to manipulate matter to your will and with practice be able to control the force in which it is sent.” With that, the ball zoomed out of her hand. It just missed Joshua’s head and shot through the left wall, leaving a clean hole to the outside about four inches in diameter. Outside, Shane walked by the building, and was very much surprised when this narrowly missed him.

Thanks Saria, he said in sport, and placed something on the wall. It closed, and seemed untouched. He chuckled to himself and continued on.

“While the reconstruction of the matter displaced by the ball was not my doing, the force and impact was.” She paced back to where she had originally been standing. She looked toward her desk, and the drawer opened. Blunted pencils landed on everyone’s desk as she motioned with her hand around the entire circumference of the room. It was one of the only circular teaching rooms in the building. For returning students, a weight was used instead of a pencil. For those entering their third or fourth year, Staves and swords could be used. The room was quite large, so each student had a very good amount of space. “First I want to see what you know, so I can build upon that with each individual”

Joshua smirked as the ball flew past him. He quietly shifted his postion so next time something flew at him he'd be able to stop it or move out of the way. He looked down at his pencil and smirked like every years start. A pencil. It was the most simple thing for him. He lifted it up and smirked as he made it basicly bounce on his desk smashing the tip deeper in and flatening more of it.

Esteban walked into the classroom wearing a plain white shirt, navy blue cotton jogging pants, and his boots. He was uncomfortable to not having a set uniform to wear inside the academy, and was beginning to wonder how the place was run correctly with not much rules to control the place. The clothes he chose to wear was for physical training, and always found those clothes comfortable because he could easily move with them unlike the rigid and tight uniforms. He did not really care for fashion either finding them a waste of material when money used for them could be placed into better use.

He walked to the first empty seat he found, and slipped into its seat. He automatically placed his hands on the desk, a habit he learned from school, and turned to the teacher attentively as she was about to begin the class. Esteban had no skills in telekinesis, but there a hidden potential in him that the military seem to have seen in him. He knew he was different compared to the others in the military, and even there he found it difficult to really fit in....

He blinked a few times at the blunt pencil resting on the desk before him. He raised his head as he turned to the teacher, and to the others wondering what they were going to do. He watched their face, and their steady concentration as they tried to move the objects with their mind. Turning his eyes back to the pencil in front of him, he let loose a deep breath, and concentrated.... and concentrated... and concentrated...

But nothing happened.

"This is hopeless."

Skadi sat a few rows behind Joshua, dressed all in black, the same as the previous day. She hadn't actually changed since the night had been spent with Qui, awaiting the sunrise.

She hadn't said a word to anyone since, but figured she would have to eventually. Of course, this didn't mean she would seek out a conversation with any of these strangers. The ball raced passed Joshua, who was a few seats to the right, so the ball was completely clear of her.

As the pencil bounced upon her desk, Skadi almost smiled again. 1000 years of these abilities had led her to become quite competent in the area. With minimal effort, Skadi watched as the pencil lifted off the desk, spun around several times at high speed before snapping in half, sending the two pieces flying in opposite directions across the room.

Before the two pieces could get far, Skadi exerted her control and brought them to a complete stop before they could hit anything. Finally the damaged pencil returned to her desk. Finished with her demonstration, Skadi sat quietly at her desk.

"Joshua!" Saria said. "Try not to show off more than me, eh?" She reached toward one of the staves and exchanged it with Joshua for the pencil, which was then thrown away. "Try something that may put you to the challenge. I expect you to do blocks and counters, the last ones you learned in A.C. with this without touching it. Ready...go.." she said. It would be tricky, especially if he couldn't remember them.

She then walked over toward Skadi, and smiled. "I should have known," she said with a smile. She reached toward her desk and something flew out of the drawer. It seemed to be a ball with an electric current. on it. "Here is the deal, this manaball does not like going where it is told. It will stay in the place that I put it unless you can figure out how to use your strength to move it, without touching it of course. It is quite picky about the approach you use. She set it in mid air right in front of Skadi. It would take work, but she could do it.

She then walked to Esteban, and tilted her head. She smiled. The first years always had a hard time, and she couldn't blame Esteban. She hadn't explained how to approach it yet. She took a seat next to him.
"Hi, Esteban. Would you mind if I helped you a bit?" She asked. Of course she didn't wait for a reply. "Your concentrating too hard, and you feel some doubt within yourself. After you get rid of that doubt, because you see it can be done, stop concentrating so hard. Let yourself become a part of that object. You can always move a part of yourself, so try and think of it that way. Dont' get discouraged, because not many people get it the first day. It does take time, but loosen up a bit, eh?" Saria smiled again, and continued observing and criticing other students.

Michael simply sat at his desk and decided against concentrating on the pencil, he did that for the majority of last year and decided that at his current level of understand he wasn't really capable of telekenisis; he needed more information.

So instead Michael simply raised his hand and stated the problem.

"Ms Saria, I think I need a recap of how this is surposed to work, I never really understood the basics of this the first year and I would only be repeating my mistakes without trying something different. I don't know if I'm even capable of moving objects with my mind."

He rolled the pencil along his desk, and at times tried to make it roll around with his mind while he sat there. His eyes well focused on the objects, and was so concentrated on moving the object that everything around him seem to blur. The other's amazing feats, and similar failures stopped from his perspective since all that matter now was moving his pencil. So concentrated that he did not even hear or see the teacher coming, and snapped out of this deep thinking as he heard her voice.

He froze. He reallly hated being surprised since in war and battles it would usually lead to one's death. His fingers held the pencil at its tips, and his head slowly turned to the side to see the telekinetics teacher sitting at a seat nearby. He did listen to hear speak but only got certain phrases since his mind was fluttering along his failure in telekinetics, and even being attentive. He started to get uneasy as well since she sat so close, and only nodded his head to show her that if he was listening.

He turned back to the pencil, and closed his eyes for a moment as he puckered his lips to take a deep breath. Opening his eyes, he moved his hands away from the pencil, and motioned his fingers in an upward motion as if he was asking to pencil to atleast float up from the desk.

And like magic, it seemed to hop up from the desk for a few inches, surprising him.

"Eh..." He looked at both his pale hands with amazement. "Better than nothing.

"Heh just having some fun. Not like I'm trying to kill people with it," Joshua replies with his playful smirk. When he got the stave he quickly started recalling all the moves he had learned in AC and began suddenly puting them to use.

"Practice well Joshua," Saria called out. "You're going up against me at the end of class." There was teasing in her voice, and she would be a challenge. But that was a secret for now.

She smiled at Michael. "Yes, of Course. Just call me Saria." She observed Michael as if she was writing out a perscription of what might work for him. "If you learned from humans that a pencil is a form of matter. So is your boddy. Everything is matter. When you use a weapon, it is just an extension of your hand. In telekenetics, the object is simply an extension of yourself, like a weapon. Try thinking of it as being attached to you, a part of you really. You can move any part of you, you know, if you set your mind to it." She looked at him again. "Don't concentrate so hard, either. I can tell that you might have a bit of tension...so just loosen up."

Saria smiled at this. Indeed you will get a real test, she thought to herself, her thoughts well guarded. Saria was not a vampire, she was not a kappa, she was not a human. She was what you would call a zoanthre, but that was not apparent in her appearance currently.

Qui had told her to give Joshua a hard time, but she found that very unfair. She never did follow Qui's rules, at least not the minor ones. Usually he was right, and that bugged her. She watched the rest of the students, waiting to be impressed or see someone she could help.

Michael listened and nodded, it made some sense, though he imagined it would take some will to do things like that. Never the less Michael simply tried to imagine the penic as part of his body... for someone with as little imagination as Michael had this didn't come easy, it was so inorganic and lifeless... clearly it was not a part of him. However, Michael had an idea.

Carefully taking the penic from the desk, he balanced it on his hand and started to try and imagine it as an extra digit on his hand. It wasn't much but it was a start.

Joshua suddenly engaged in a move that he normaly preformed for a killing counter when a rather sharp crack was heard. "Um..I think I broke it. Or my arm not sure which one," he says with a slight smirk, "Don't think its the arm though."
Rave Shentavo
18-08-2004, 04:36
If it's not broken, I can fix that... a voice entered Joshua's mind. Qui stood in the doorway with an uncanny expression on his face. He looked at Joshua with a smile, and a wave of the hand for notation. He stole a glance toward Skadi when given the chance.

Saria looked at Qui. Don't break my students please. Especially not one entering his fourth year.

If Rave hadn't have been there, he wouldn't have entered his second. Qui walked over to Saria, and the silent conversation continued. Who keeps accepting him anyway!?

No idea...

Qui shook his head. Saria...there is an important matter i need to discuss with you after your class is over. It's concerning the room with the...yeah....that.

Definately. I hope nothing has gone wrong?

Just precautions...precautions only.

He nodded to the rest of the class and cast a vicious glance on Joshua. He exited the room, and Saria looked around, seeing some students had stopped. "Well back to work now..."

After you, Qui replied with a grimace. Of course, if you want to settle matters with me, simply come out of that class room, and I'll kill you. Then it will all be over.

I'd rather just return the favor for someone close to me, he replies his glair intensifying as he stands his left hand in a fist his nails diggin into the plam of his hand leting a small bit of blood drip down.
Rave Shentavo

Qui watched through the doorway, only Joshua in vision range. He saw the blood drip down, and smiled at his pain. He inhaled deeply. He really didnt' want to do this in front of Skadi, and that's why he waited outside. Though, since it was a mental speech, it was unlikly the students had any idea what was going on.

Saria looked at Joshua. "Sit down Joshua...take care of your hand, i know you have the strength to heal it enough to stop the bleeding." Saria looked out toward the hallway. There was no one visable, but she knew Qui was there.

"Excuse me for a moment. Keep practicing..." Saria exited the room, and saw qui in the corner of the hall way, relishing in his disruption. "You have a lot of nerve to challenge one of my students!" She let out a light growl, to which Qui only matched doubly.

And you have a lot of nerve, Saria, in attempting to intimidate me.

Cougaji! you son of a bitch! If you kill Joshua---

Who said i was going to kill him. I just wanted to "talk". Now how about retracting those claws ms. kitty... Saria scoffed, and took a last look at him before re entering.

"I'm sorry for the interruption," [i]And I'm sorry for you Joshua.[i]

"There will be a time when nothing is there to stop us....," he only said the blood slowly stoping as he riased his hand to lick the remaining blood off it. His eyes still burned with anger from that moment during the last year here. "Till that time.... till that time," he muttered as he sat back down. As he did his hand still twitched slightly. As it did his stave began to make sharp cracking noises untill one part began to splinter.

Skadi matched Saria's gaze as she explained her exercise. Skadi had rarely ever encountered magic, save for when she was young or occassionally some of Maximus' elven spells. Simply nodding as Saria departed, Skadi got onto task.

The first option to come into her mind was mental force. The vampire unleashed a large portion of her mental will into the object, willing it to move. Nothin happened, it merely sat there as if mocking her. Skadi's eyes narrowed as she attempted a more gentle tug on the manaball, testing to see if it responded to strength and direction...

Skadi barely noticed Qui as she was working on the orb, not wanting to break her concentration and efforts. Qui was obviously here on school business and there was no need for her to be distracted by him.

With pure revenge in mind, you lose sight and are a fool. Don't be foolish Joshua... Saria said. You're hatred will blind you.

Saria bowed slightly to Joshua, and watched him walk down to the center. There was quite a distance between them and the other students.

"This will be close and well concentrated, you go out of this center circle to the first row of desks, (which were unoccupied) disqualified."

Saria closed her eyes. A small jewel appeared in the middle of her forehead. It was a light blue, and she smiled. Psionics is what she pracitced, but what she was exactly was unanswered to her students. She looked human, after all.

She placed one hand behind her back, and chose a small metal kubaton, which was far near unbreakable. It was the size of the width of her hand. "Choose what you want. A plasma sword...anything. I will use only this."

Skadi continues to probe at the mana orb with her mind, attempting to discover what would make it shift. She didn't pay any attention to the teacher and Joshua, it didn't matter, only the task mattered.

Too much force hadn't gotten her anywhere and too little was just as ineffective. The old vampire was becoming frustrated with the object that seemed to mock her with its stillness. She had never used her power on so called magical items before and was almost clueless as to what she would do. Nevertheless, she continued to try.

OOC: Eventually, I'm going to run out of ideas of what to try... :P

Slowly the blade fell from Joshua's wrist then began to float infront of him. He smirked slightly. With a almost invisible movment of his wrist Joshua ordered the blade foreward. Secretly Joshua also had a little surprise in store for her. His stave began to move slightly as he placed his other hand behind his back so he could direct it without her seeing so.

Skadi was slightly surprised when the manaball moved, but it eased her frustration slightly. Now she had to work out what exactly she had done to make the ball move.

Stretching slightly, Skadi refocused on the ball and applied a multi-strand of probes, using a combination of pulling and pushing, but without a lot of force in an attempt to coax the object into going with the flow...

Saria watched each movement very carefully, blocking when needed. Otherwise, it was strange, but she was able to move out of the way.

The mana ball moved more, and levitated on Skadi's desk.

While the staff spun, it slowed a bit as Saria cast a bit of her own attention upon it.

..something was coming up, and Joshua could sense it.

Skadi didn't smile as the manaball began to move. She was satisfied with her efforts and decided to up the level a little. Esteban yawned softly as he slowly leaned on his desk, placing his arms at his sides, and his chin at the edge. He tilted his head, letting his cheek rest as he continued to watch the pencil which was laying down a few inches from his face. He puckered his lips, and blew at it making it roll down to the other side of the desk. It rolled quickly, making the slight tapping sound as it moved on its flat sides. Though before it fell from the edge, he used his new found skill in telekinesis and stopped it. Making it halt just at the edge, and slowly "pulling" it back towards his face.

"Summon pencil" said the pale one as he watched the pencil roll towards him, "Banish pencil."

A bit tired from the concentration, he continues on with the rolling play, and yawned a few more times, practicing the simple task.

The manaball flew of Skadi's desk and hovered above Joshua. Suddenly, it sent an electric current down through his body. She stopped it, not wanting to harm him too much, but just enough to let him know he wasn't ready. "After you master telekenetics, you can go into elements, energy, and electricity." That's when you start getting pulled into manavex. Joshua... Qui teaches manavex, and what I just did was at a beginner level in that field. Do you see my point?

Skadi was slightly startled when the manaball shot towards Joshua and unleashed an arc of electricity. She quickly assumed it must have been the instructor attempting to taunt her opponent.

"This was indeed an interesting task. I have other things to do now, but I look forward to the next lesson."

To those that knew Skadi, it was quite rare for her to be so upfront with a complete stranger like that, she usually didn't speak so much.
