Group G
Vilita (2)
Liechtenistan
Haperd
Krytenia
Liverpool England
Europa Brittania
-------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties have been drawn in Group G for the Under 21 WC IV Championships. For the third time in just four World Cup Under 21 Championship Appearances, Vilita will be facing off against Liverpool England in the battle for qualification. However, The Jungle Kitties must first face off against Liechtenistan and Haperd, two teams that Vilita has never before faced in any competition. After those matches, Vilita will find themselves up against Krytenia. While the two teams have only met once before in competition, with u21 Strikers Hluali Mijatos and Carmine Mbidzo both scoring in the 3-1 AOCAF II Group Stage victory, both teams are very familiar with each other's play. The Jungle Kitties are expecting to take 3 wins out of their first three matches, before facing off with Liverpool England. In the two prior U-21 Meetings between the sides, The series is a dead heat, with Liverpool England claiming a 3-2 Victory in U21-II; and Vilita returning the favor 2-1 in U21-III. A Victory for Vilita in this match would likely see them through to the U21-WC V Second Round. To conclude the qualifying Round, Vilita will come up against former World-Cup Giants Europa Brittania. The two sides have never met in any competition, and while the u21 is not as prestigous as the World Cup, it will still be a trying test for the Vilitan side.
-------------Vilita Under 21 Head Coach Baron O'Toole has named just one goalkeeper in his roster, 18 year old Tivali City goalkeeper Jimmy Kater. There will be several players making their full competition debut's in the u21 tournament. On Defense, 18 year old Christos Tchami, the Turori-Based player playing for Cedniavella in the Lower Leagues is recognized for the first time by Coach O'Toole. Midfielder Teariki Mané has been the talk of the Vilitan Stellar this season, with pressure on him to perform well to keep Makosile away from Relegation. ON the opposite end of the spectrum, Midfielder Jeremie Emeka, who plays for the local side in Kirota, is the real surprise in O'Toole's squad. Virtually unknown to the footballing community, it is believed that Masters Player Jutaoi Linuao discovered Emeka while training on his own at his local park, and suggested the player to O'Toole. The final new addition to the squad is Eastal Lunar's 16 year old Striking Phenom Mauro Baraza. Baraza made his Vilitan debut in the final AOCAF II Group stage match against Lamoni, and marked it well with his first career goal. Baraza is expected to come off the bench for the Kitties during this cup.

----Almintora, Turori - - -The Turori Eels have Named former National Team standout Maritus Banda as u21 Head Coach for the upcoming Fifth World Cup Under-21 Championships. Banda is the older brother of Vilita Jungle Cats All-Time top scorer Callum Banda, a title the elder Banda held with Turori, for whom he qualified through the pairs grandmother, until passed by Akamoari Liano during the World Cup 16 Qualifiers. Banda was nearing the end of his playing career when The Turori FA was formed prior to World Cup 15. Banda, having been too old to earn a spot on the Vilitan Team formed just two cups prior, was contacted by the Turori FA who were lookin for a team captain to lead their youthful squad. Banda's performance was almost legendary as he captained the Eels to Silverware in their first ever competion, the Pre-15 Baptism Of Fire Cup. The legend continued as the Banda-led Eels lost just 2 matches in their World Cup 15 Qualifying campaign, before a draw on the final matchday left them 1 point out of the World Cup Finals in the first attempt.
----------The current Eels, without Banda, did one better, equalling the amount of points needed to qualify from their World Cup qualifying group, but missing out in third position due to an inferior Goal Differential. Of that team, only two regular members are eligible for the u21. Midfielder Malaino Mumamba, who was always impressive for the Eels will be joined by Fan-Favorite Ugo Doohan, recently signed for Kionao Locals in the Vilitan Stellar Division. Goalkeepers Aaron White and Trevor Ugnata, both split-Turori Nationals also have past experience with the side from the National Trials, competing on both the AO-Select and Turori regional teams in the past year. Wunokalsa Waridi's Izzitra Bomai (17), Terrarokka Spirit's Rocky Siregar (18) and the un-attached Martiia Rawaii will be putting on the Turori colors for the first time in the TnUI hosted event. The player to watch for the Eels, however will be 15 year old Maratima Tareak. Tareak has been watched recently by scouts from Giant Zucchini, Vilita and Bedistan. Despite growing interest from clubs in Turori, it now seems likely that Tareak is not willing to sign locally, and wants to play overseas. So far only 8 players have been named, but more are expected to join up in the coming weeks.

Young Blades drawn in Group B of U21WC5
Team expected to Qualify with Ease
http://www.starblaydestudios.co.uk/Images/SportsMinistryLo.jpg
Starblaydia have once again been drawn with Oaker for the second Under-21 Tournament running. Many of the team that drew 2-2 in their final Group Match, which consigned Starblaydia to elmination, are back for this tournament and will be wanting revenge on the Young Fogies of Oaker.
Starblaydia have not played any of the other teams before, with many Starblaydis not even having heard of teams such as Adrasuvare, who will be an unknown factor in this qualification process. Starblaydia's 5-3-2 Wing-back formation should hold firm against most of these teams, with swift counter-attacks seeing them off.
As sixth seeds, Starblaydia have been given a group away from the other top 8 teams, hopefully ensuring that the bigger teams don't knock each other out during the group stages.

Creedence Clearwater
Starblaydia U21 Squad Announced for their 3rd Attempt at the Under-21 Title
Extreme youth brought in for later tournaments
Goalkeepers
1*^ Markus Cragg, 19, Basian Valley
Competing in his third international Tournament, Markus is in his Second Under-21 World Cup and looks to be the future of Starblaydi 'keeping
12. Fernando DeMarco, 13, Corinthian Spirits
His first inclusion in the squad at just thirteen is obviously pointing to giving even future Under-21ers a wealth of experience. Highly unlikely to even get an appearance on pitch
Defenders
2*^ Paul Nicholson, 21, Jhanna United
Back for a second U21WC, Nicholson is a solid centre-back and will play in a back-three
3*^ Vladimir Tsarev, 20, Internashionale
The most experienced player in the side, Tsarev has competed in both IRC1 and AOCAF2, as well as the U21WC4.Will surely vie with Rastian Salaam for the Left-back spot in the senior side.
5* Jean-Pierre Durand, 17, Iskara Daii
This young sweeper will hold together Champions Iskara Daii in the future, and here he holds together the Young Starblaydis in his first tournament.
6*^ Lucas Palmer, 20, Tabeck FC
Back to defend as the right-sided centre-back, Lucas returns for a second bite at the U21 Cherry
13. Tommas Piper 14, Hallad Reavers
Debutant centre-back, another one not likley to get a start ebcause of his youth
14. Paulo Bachchan, 13, Jhanna City
Debutant centre-back, another one not likley to get a start ebcause of his youth
Midfielders
4*^ Daniel Scott, 19, Vecchio Victors
A Victors' Youth Team product, one of three in the squad, Scott is back for a second tournament to anchor the midfield, laregly on his own.
7* Roberto Di Bradini, 18, Iskara Daii
Brother of Simeone, Robb is a universal player, able to play almost anywhere, though Right Wing-Back will challenge him.
8* Tetsuo Naoki, 14, Vecchio Victors
Actually half Dance-2-Revolutionary due to his father, Tetsuo is a surprise inclusion over Giannis Beisha, even though he's just 14.
11*^ Michael Hawthorne, 20, Corinthian Spirits
Moving slightly infield for his second U21 Tournament, Hawthorne is certainly a decent player.
15. Jerome Montefalcon, 14, Hersch Albion
Defending the midfield will be a tough job at just 14, but Montefalcon says he's up to the task.
16. Geraint Evans, 12, Hallad Reavers
Half NEWI Cefn Druid, Geraint is a young stand-in Right-sided midfielder.
17. Jose Tirado, 11, Internashionale
Incredibly young to be included, but expected to play a role in the next tournament.
18. Giannis Berisha, 20, Articala Inlet (Vilita Declasse)
A late inclusion after being 'discovered' playing for a Vilitan Declasse side, Berisha will be disappointed to miss out to young Naoki
Forwards
9*^ Eomer Hall, 21, Hallad Reavers
With two goals and two Tournaments already under his belt, the towering, fiery skills of Hall will be looking to break Simeone Di Bradini's record of 3 goals, set at Under-21 World Cup 3.
10* Jakkinho, 16, Vecchio Victors
Part of the Vics' Youth Team, Jakkinho has flair, touch and the all-important ability to beat people. A perfect 'little' for Hall's 'large'
19. Marco Del Blanco, 11, Iskara Daii
Another Daii player destined for greatness, Del Blanco's time will come. Probably when he's pubescent.

Finrods bow to mighty Insanician Attack
Things started looking bad for Finrod in the 4th minute when a young striker named Belless mark 2 managed to fight his way past 6 players and open the Insanician account. He struck again in the 21st, 42nd, 67th and 84th minutes; stopping to sign autographs after the last goal left TnUI down to 10 men, a tactically advantage Finrod exploited to the full, managing a consolation prize before the final whistle.

Three Men and a Goalie
Not quite a Guttenburg/Danson/Selleck Movie, but in fact a football match.
Starblaydia's defence were good. Really really good. With a back three, two wing-backs and a defending midfielder, Starblaydia looked like some kind of three-backed, two winged defensive creature. Like a pair of Turtles strapped to an Eagle along with a 4-man attack unit, or something. Only the turtle was a Snapping Turtle, with the Eagle a Crackling Eagle, and the attack were Popping Unit. Coach poured a little milk over them and they were off like three multi-cloured cereal leprechauns.
Thankfully, the 'Pop' part was the Beatles and not the Spice Girls. Only without the bowl haircuts, I never liked Baby Spice's haircut, to be honest, but that's beside the point, and a little to the right of it too when all's said and done. And it hasn't been. Not yet, anyway.
So anyway (did I just use 'anyway' twice in quick succession? wait, that's three times! Anyway...), Eomer Hall scored first, just past Twenty Minutes. Sources close to the Adrasuvare coaching staff say that Minutes will be dropped after this match for making such a crucial mistake to allow Hall to score. Roberto Di Bradini doubled the advantage has he came down the right wing in a classic pincers movement, trimming the grass as he went. Starblaydia must get better groundsmen, the length of the grass down the touchline was just atrocious, if players have to get the mowers and watering cans out.
As fourteen year-old Tetsuo Naoki scored the third Starblaydia were crusing. No, not down the more seedy back-alleys of the city, nor at 30,000 feet, but three-nil up in the opening match of the Tournament.
It seems the sixth seeds are shaping up nicely so far. And no, that wasn't another gardening reference, though my decking and water feature in the front garden of my 15th floor apartment are coming along just nicely, thankyou for asking.
I've been writing this for far too long, so go and read some other match report. G'night surrealist comedy fans!

Raptor Claw seen off in Seven-Goal Thriller
The Greatest Start to a Tournament in the World... Ever!
Starblaydia have won two games in a row before, so this is pleasing, but nothing new. Starblaydia have scored four goals in a single match before, so this is pleasing, but nothing new. Starblaydia have, however, never before won the opening match of any tournament before, and have never, ever, been P2 W2 Pts6 and top of a group before.
This is certainly something new. Being seeded 6 for the 5th Under-21 World Cup after such a dismal performance in the previous tournament was a testament to Starblaydia's youth football programme, and the fruits of this are now paying off. Not being grouped with any of the other Top 8 sides in the Tournament should mean, on paper, that Starblaydia will win Group B. They're certainly having a good go at it so far.
Michael Hawthorne scored his first goal of his international career after a stylish one-two with Naoki and breaking into the box to fire past the Raptor 'keeper. Naoki is certainly proving that 'if you're good enough, you're old enough' as the fourteen-year-old continues to delight fans and commentators alike with his silky skills. Eomer Hall, the Captain, then grabbed a brace of goals, the two seperated by half-time, to make him the all-time Under-21 top scorer with 5 goals for his country. Finally his young strike-partner Jakkinho opened his international account with a fine well-taken goal, toe-poking the ball in from two yards after a superb Roberto Di Bradini cross that split open the defence like a brain surgeon conducting a lobotomy.
Things were not all rosy, as Raptor Claw put three goals past the much-vaunted Starblaydi Defence. This suggests the 17 year-old Sweeper Jean-Pierre Durand and 19 year-old 'keeper Markus Cragg may not be totally ready for international football, though they still have enough years to learn before the real tests of senior internationals.
Starblaydia's next match is against Spurland and all the fans will be hoping to continue the 100% record in this tournament.

Insanicians bring home the bacon
The Insanicians clashed with the superior forces from Sarzonia, who managed to gain the lead in the first half with a skillful, and quite powerful, shot from 30 yards. From then on the Insanicians were playing catch-up. Unable to break the Sarzonian defence they broke for halftime and came up with a cunning plan. One quick ransom call later and Sarzonia were without their star goalkeeper. The Insanicians pressed the attack, forcing the sub goal keeper to make a number of saves. It was during this time that the keeper fumbled the ball allowing the Insanicians the equalizer they so desperately needed. The keeper made amends by keeping out any further intrusions.

The Most Boring Day Ever
What more can you say? The 3 games in Group F each ended in a draw. 2 of the games were scoreless. The 5-5 thriller between Kylaai and Magnus Valerius was exciting, offensive action, but the Falcons couldn't get anything done in their game but defense - which may just sneak them into the tournament. If the team can keep stopping the other teams from scoring, and get 1 or 2 themselves, they could make it into the elimination rounds.
But don't get your hopes up.

Coach Terry Mangione announced the roster for the second U21 competition for the Sarzonian Junior Stars:
ROSTER (starters in BOLD)
GOALKEEPERS:
1 Mark Tanner (Joe Gibbs University): This 20 year old set a sophomore record for lowest goals against average (0.51) in Sarzonian collegiate history. He also won two of three matches as the starting goalkeeper from the previous U21 team.
30 Brian Tawes (Burlington Braves - minor league): This 18 year old bypassed college to sign with the Braves and has earned the starting job with the team. He'll back up Tanner until he can gain experience.
DEFENDERS:
3 Mark Clark (Syosset University): Just 17 years old, he earned a starting job as a freshman for his football savvy and earned a high school diploma at 16 because of his off-field smarts.
6 Taylor Branson Saugerties Snakes): This 20 year old still is trying to get seasoning with the Snakes, but with the team heading toward a playoff berth, that may be a challenge.
12 Landon George (University of New Isselmere): For a 19 year old, he plays like a cagey veteran. Unfortunately, much of that comes from a lack of speed. He'll play sweeper in a 3-5-2 alignment.
13 Daniel Trautwig (Bausch State College): Transferred to BSC after the destruction of his university in a nuclear strike, Trautwig quickly earned a starting job as a right halfback despite his relative youth (18 years of age).
14 Russ Cochrane (Benatar University): Caught the eye of Knights management during his senior season of high school, but this 19 year old signed on to play college ball because he didn't feel ready for the rigors of SFC competition.
25 George Wendelstedt (no affiliation): A free agent after graduating from junior college, this 20 year old is looking to catch on with a minor league club. He still showed enough as a central defender to warrant a spot on the U21 side.
MIDFIELDERS
8 Barry Conley (Randolph Reavers - minor league): A distant cousin of defender Mike Conley, this 18 year old shares his relative's speed but also his propensity to get out of position.
9 Valentin Kienzl (Tyrol Tigers - minor league): He just turned 17, but played a vital role in the Junior Stars' success in their first-ever U21 competition with his dangerous left side free kicks.
10 Bryon Crosson (Woodstock City College): A dangerous central midfielder at 19, helped the Woodstock City College team advance to the cup finals, where it lost in extra time.
18 Fred Bartylak (St. George Saints - minor league): Just turned 19, he can play either defensive or attacking midfielder, but struggles on the flanks. As a result, will play attacking midfielder to allow Conley to play defensive mid.
24 Dustin Manley (Woodstock Wild): A reserve on the three time SFC championship team, this 20 year old has a potentially lethal free kick from the right side.
27 Trevor Bonstock (Randolph): Plays more effectively as defender or defensive midfielder so he'll come in to allow Conley to play attacking mid if necessary. Turned 19 last week.
30 Carlos Gonzales (St. George): Emigrated to Sarzonia when he was four, this 17 year old brings a lot of football savvy to the national U21 team.
FORWARDS:
19 Kenny Cooper (Portland Timbers): This 20 year old is on the verge of a starting position with the Timbers, who just won the SFC Cup. He was the most outstanding player of the last U21 team. May earn a senior national team call up before long.
25 Wilton James (New Daurmont Nighthawks - minor league): This 18 year old plays withdrawn forward for the Nighthawks but can play striker when the need calls for it.
26 John Clinton (Lorber State University): Clinton set a school record with 22 goals his freshman season. At 18 years old, has potential to be a dangerous forward for years to come.

The Sarzonian U21 national team got off to a flying start in their second Under 21 World Cup championship by getting goals from midfielders Valentin Kienzl and Dustin Manley along with a hat trick from forward Kenny Cooper and won, 5-1.
"We certainly did a great job of getting off to a strong start," Coach Terry Mangione said. "Kenny was just unbelievable out there."
The Stars got on the board first as Cooper fired a "laser" of a shot into the back of the net in the ninth minute. From there, the Junior Stars scored four more goals in quick succession, taking a 5-0 lead into intermission.
Mattigool finally averted a shutout in the 76th minute and went to a four forward lineup to try to get back into the match, but the Stars' defense shut the door on their hopes.
"We finally got a better defensive effort from our lads," Kienzl said. "It was time for us to play as a full unit and we did that."
Cooper's success in the U21 cup had many observers wondering how long it would be before he was given a chance with the senior national team.
"I can't worry about that until the time comes," Cooper said. "I just have to hope that Coach [Bryan Marshall] is watching these matches."

Coach Terry Mangione was frustrated after Total n Utter Insanity scored an equalizing goal against reserve goalkeeper Brian Tawes in the 87th minute, preventing the Junior Stars from winning its second consecutive match and stretching its lead in group play.
"I'm going to have to figure out what's going on with Mark [Tanner, the team's first choice goalkeeper]," Mangione said. "Brian did the best he could but it's very hard to force a reserve keeper to play a lot of minutes in a match with that much at stake."
Forward Kenny Cooper scored his fourth goal in as many matches after a feed from midfielder Valentin Kienzl in the 30th minute and the defense looked solid against the Insaniacs. That's when Tanner was escorted away from the locker room.
"We've begun a full-scale investigation," Woodstock Police Chief Chip Moose said. "We'll do what we can to make sure he's ready to go for the next match."
The result drew Total n Utter Insanity even with the Junior Stars in the group standings.

The U21 team scored 4 goals!
They what?
SCORED 4 GOALS
But didn't we score only three goals the entire last tournament?
Yes sir!
Wow, who'd we beat?
Um.....
What?
We tied
What did you say?
We tied sir.
TIED?
Yes sir.
Good grief Why is it that we can't get good people to play U21? Score 4 goals yet they don't win.
Maybe if you published their names.
Names?
Well, you did strike the U21 WC4 team from all the sports records.
They can redeem themselves in that reality tournament.
Names sir?
Bah, if they did anything good, maybe, perhaps if they win a game.
*sigh* alright sir. At leat they have a coach this time.
WELL THAT'S GOOD.

Coach Terry Mangione looked at the seedings and blinked. He wasn't one to panic out loud about giving opposing teams incentives the way Bryan Marshall of the senior national team did, but he was surprised about the seedings.
"We didn't win a knockout round match and we're considered a favorite," Mangione asked rhetorically. "I'm surprised because that paints a target on our backs, but we still have to get out there and play."
The Junior Stars led the group in goalscoring but conceded "way too many goals," starting goalkeeper Mark Tanner said.
"We let the defense down," he said.
"Our defense let our goalkeepers down even more so," Mangione said. "We need to be able to play a good all around game but still be able to put the ball in the back of the net."
The Stars earned four of a possible six points in their first two matches of the fifth U21 World Cup. They figure to advance, but they're not going to take anything for granted.
"We have Lovisa in this group," forward Kenny Cooper said. "We want a little payback for their beating our senior team."

Under 21 Championships, Total n Utter Insanity
http://www.dirt-racing.com/3wide/sites/aofiles/rp/bar.gif
-------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties stepped out for the first time against their opponents for Liechtenistan on the first matchday of the Fifth World Cup Under 21 Championships. The starting lineup featured two names previously unknown to most Vilitan Faithful, Jeremie Emeka and Teariki Mané lining the midfield for the Jungle Kitties. Emeka was discovered playing local football in Kirota, Vilita, while Mané has come out of the un-acclaimed Makosile academy.
-------------However, it was one of the more regular names, Tivali City's Hluali Mijatos that got the Vilitan Under-21 campaign off to a flying start. It was just 12 minutes in when Mijatos netted the first goal of the competition, flying in through the notably weak Liechtenistan defense. Less than 15 minutes later, Mijatos was on the scoreboard once again, connecting with a Calaesa Mitaroka corner kick to put Vilita 2-0 up. With the Jungle Kitties controlling the play, and Liechtenistan having 0 shots on goal the first half, Coach O'Toole decided to move from a defensive 3-5-2 to a pure 3-5-2 formation, by having Defensive Midfielder Antonis Ratuva fall back into Defense, and Inserting Right Winger Tanner Nerni for Marine Coast United's New Signing, Defender Sibusiso Azaïez. Nerni's pace allowed him to easily create chances for the u21 WcIII Runners-Up, and It was Nerni's play just after the hour that opened the door for Esemar Aliana to connect with a deflected cross 20 yards out to put Vilita 3-0 up. Coach O'Toole made one final substitution with 13 minutes remaining, sending on young Sublé Tonic for some match fitness in place of Goalscorer Aliana. The story of the Cup developed as the match approached stoppage time. 19 Year Old Jeremie Emeka, who was playing local ball just weeks prior to the U21 Championships, intercepted a Liechtenistan backpass and netted his first career international goal. Emeka instantly became an icon for all the Vilitan Schoolchildren playing in their backyards, that your dreams can come true.

THE FORCE Gave It Its best in The First RounD :headbang:
The Force 1 Ebon Hawk 4
After an humiliating start into the game...losing 0-3, The Force decided it was time to pick it up a level instead of slacking off. Ednar Brown commented that his team not only dissappointed him, but also shocked him at the level of play his Lads were demonstrating. He commented that his team needs to straighten out for the next round and endure in " much training ", if they want to advance anywhere in this Cup.However, he is infact glad, in one sense, that this 'cotastrophe' happened early on, and now he can adjust himself and the players to perform properly. Eystrck has much confidence in The Force and is prepared to see them at their best later on in the World Cup 5.
(Brown asked to not decribe each players demonstration this game, he is so shocked in their performance, that he wants another game at least to show of his players 'True skill' )

Audioslavia Whup Kingsford
Kings beaten by no goals to nil
A fantastic display by the Audioslavian under-twenty-one team saw them crack no goals past a floundering Kingsford side.
Audioslavian defender Brien Innes wasted no time in not notching his first goal of the tournament, after he didnt see a few earlier chances go begging.
Some neat interplay by Audioslavian defender Jannes Raynes and Audioslavian defender Sheldon Hughes saw Audioslavia add another 0 to the scoreboard on thirty-eight minutes, after some skillful defending saw Audioslavia take a no-goal lead into half-time
The second half didnt see Audioslavian defender Torben Reughice head the ball past the Kings' goalkeeper for nil-nil, whilst Audioslavian defender Michael Pardew, Audioslavian defender Iain Forbes, and Audioslavian defender Adrian Hendry never got the chance to see their non-existant shots fly in late in the game.
A fantastic 0 goal thriller in TnUI excited the crowds to the point of fevered narcolepsy, as Audioslavia proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can mix it with the big boys at any level.
The final score in this goalless rout:
Audioslavia 0 (Innes 12, Hughes 39, Reughice 49, Pardew 58, Forbes 70, Hendry 87)
Kingsford 0

Starblaydia 1-0 Spurland
Giannis Berisha's first ever goal for his country saw Starblaydia maintain their perfect start to the 5th Under-21 World Cup.
The 20 year-old attacking player, who came on as a half-time substitute for the tiring Tetsuo Naoki, made amends for an earlier miss when he controlled a Roberto Di Bradini cross on his chest to fire home from 10 yards in the 57th minute. Berisha, who plays in the Vilitan Declasse Division for Articala Inlet, is playing in his debut Tournament for his country after being 'discovered' playing in Vilita.
Spurland went close when a free-kick was tipped over the bar by Markus Cragg. Starblaydia's best chance, apart from the goal, came on the half-hour when Jakkinho scuffed his shot harmlessly wide, though Eomer Hall hit the frame of the goal after a good run.
This 1-0 win, coupled with Creedence Clearwater's 6-2 thrashing by Raptor Claw , means Starblaydia are well on top of Group B with Nine points and a +5 goal difference.

The Bedistan Sports Digest
Under-21 Update
The legacy lives on! The Cubs, Bedistan's national U21 team, are currently doing extremely well with a 3-0-0 record. Unfortunately, media coverage of the current U21 World Cup has been somewhat lax, in part due to exciting finishes in Bedistan's domestic leagues.
The first match was against the Weegies, a nation that has been present in international football for many years but that hasn't been all that well known recently. As expected, it took the Bedistan side a while to get warmed up, but they were able to manage a 2-1 win at full time.
After that, we faced Turori, which is interesting since our senior squad, the Lions, have the neighboring Vilita in their World Cup group. But there is a big difference in the skill levels of those two nations, and it showed here. The 2-1 scoreline was actually very flattering to the Turorian team, as the Cubs' striker duo of Robert Taft and Harry Griswold, who helped win the Cup four years ago, never let up on the pressure from start to finish.
Next up on the list: who else? Halfassedstates. I'm pretty certain two teams have never met as frequently as Bedistan and Halfassedstates have in the last two years, meeting twice in World Cup qualifying, twice in the NIL, and now again here. Those previous four matches were all pretty close, though, with Bedistan holding a 3-1-0 record in them (though one of those wins required a penalty shootout that went completely through the roster plus some before being decided). This one, though, was different, as the Cubs showed that the main national squad definitely has some good days ahead of them with regard to the nation's youth talent. No fewer than FIVE goals were put past the Gales' keeper, and Halfassed could manage just two in return. The seven-goal thriller produced a big win for Bedistan and keeps their 100% record intact.

Hawks defeated
The young Orange-Blues won their second match of the U21 championship wih an encouraging 2:0 against the Ebon Hawk U21 (called 'the Hawks'). Coach Jisu Jetta said after this win: "This team is pretty good, they held Tanah Burung down to nil-nil and now they won against the Hawks, it is a good start into this tournament!". Ebon Hawk played in an aggresive 2-3-5 formation, while the young Orange-Blues played the normal System Jesejil (4-5-1). The entire match saw fiercely attacking Hawks, who struggled against the Orange-Blue defense. The orange-Blues were in the position they (well, since it is their second international match it were rather their predecessors) like best. They could react and challenge the feeble Hawkish defense with counters 'out of nowhere'. One of these counters by Syku "Sisik" Kansu caused the 1:0 lead in the 34th minute. Only minutes later, the Hawks had the best chance in the entire match, as Trevor Hawk-Belmore's shot only hit the post and goalie Liku Nanik could catch it, when it bounced back on Alan W. Belless's back. In the second half, Jisu Jetta substituted Sasijilvenku Dikelesinivetisaru in to replace the rather unimpressive defender Jita I Liku. The new player, often only called "Sasi", was better: he spoiled or cleared the dangerous chances of Ebon Hawk. When he extended the Orange-Blue lead in a penalty in the 69th minute, the scoreboard could not display the name and the Insanican computer which ran it simply decided to bluescreen. For the rest of the game, the scoreboard read 'A fatal exception 0E occured at 0067:8196EEEE'. Several attempts to fix it ended in:
1. a 1024:0 lead for Ebon Hawk which was replaced by
2. a 0:50EE lead for Rejistania which was replaced by
3. a black screen which was replaced by
4. boot-messages which were replaced by
5. another BSOD
The action on the field was not as interesting: the Orange-Blues concentrated even more on defense than they did before and Ebon Hawk still had no chances to speak of. After the match, rumours spread that Dikelesinivetisaru either is not allowed to score goals in Total n Utter insanity anymore or that he'll be only known as Sasi on insanican scoreboards.
The result:
Rejistania 2 (Kansu 34th, Dikelesinivetisaru 69th)
Ebon Hawk 0

Second match of the First round.
Not many people came to support their boys (something like only 4000 people) leaving the stadium nearly empty.
It surely didn't help the U21 team who had to match up against a really tough adversary.
After the initial shock with Zucchini's goal (at the 8' minute),Esth managed to react and create many actions, which unfortunately many of them didn't find the net.
At the 51' minute a wonderful free kick by Mikopolis brings the score 1-1.
During the last moments of the match, when everyone thought the game would end with a tie, an unstoppable counter attack by Giant Zucchini brings the score 1-2 for them.
Final whistle and Esth obtains its first defeat.
"We deserved that last goal" says Goalkeeper Andrea Zollino after the match "everyone thought it was over so they didn't pay much attention to what was going on the field, our adversary managed to put in their favour our moment of weakness and scored the winning goal;hope we won't make similar mistakes again".
Esth's coach also comments "We played a very good game,we managed to give the opposing team some tough moments, too bad for the last goal, hope our boys have learned the lesson"

"No goals? The people want goals, kid."
"But coach, a 0-0 draw against Rejistania is a good result."
"Ratings, kid. Ya gotta boost the ratings. We need goals. Flair. Big ugly ear rings. Players taking spectacular dives and crying when they miss. Marriages to vapid washed-up pop singers. Penalty shots ballooning over the crossbar. Goalies scoring on the other team. Fight songs. Blood on the field."
"But coach, a 0-0 draw can be thrilling."
"Naw. When both teams get a shut-out, and their's a bunch of ties in this here soccer game, then how will we ever make the playoffs? Then we'd be whistling Dixie."
The player looked at his manager blankly.
"Are you speaking French, coach?"

Falcons Continue High Rollin'
Aquiliana's defensive style continued to help them through international tournaments, and tonight they were able to knock off Kingsford, a top 16 team. Störinis played an absolutely superb game, making 8 saves for the clean sheet, and the attackers kept pounding through until, midway through the second half, Mirus was fouled just outside the 18-yard box. He was able to bend the ensuing free kick onto the head of a streaking Illavia, who put it away cleanly for the game's only goal.
Hopefully, the team will be able to carry their momentum into tomorrow's match against Kylaai, who should prove to be a worthy opponent. But if the team continues playing as well defensively as they have been, no one needs to worry - they might even qualify to the next round.

Squires continue the slaughter!
After disposing of Maserrat 3-0 in their first game, Jeruselem slaughtered The Eagles Next 5-2 in the 2nd round. Jeruselem have never scored 8 goals in two games except for the senior team in World Cup XV when the Crusaders won a game 7-1.
The new generation of U-21s look promising and with this form, they could one day help the seniors qualify for the World Cup. The key to this scoring spree is the ability for the Jeruselem midfield to move the ball from defense quickly into a dangerous position near the opponents goal putting zonal defenses out of order.

19-08-2004, 20:18
Paced by a record four goals by forward Kenny Cooper, the Sarzonian under 21 national team blasted a national record seven goals into the back of the net, setting the pace for an easy 7-3 win and propelling the Junior Stars into first place in the Group E standings.
"There's not much to say about that performance but wow," Coach Terry Mangione said. "Coop getting a golden sombrero, that's a feat right there. It was gratifying after only scoring one goal in our previous match."
Goalkeeper Mark Tanner was far from sharp, allowing three goals on the five shots he faced, but he didn't have to be. Cooper made sure of that.
"I can't explain what happened. Everything just clicked," Cooper said. "Strange things happen sometimes."
The Stars made sure the competitive portion of the match ended early, as Cooper sliced through the defense to earn a natural hat trick only 14 minutes in. Even a change of goalkeepers by Finrod didn't help matters, as the Junior Stars took a 5-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Finrod finally broke through in the 61st minute and briefly entertained a comeback, cutting the lead to 6-3 in the 79th minute. But midfielder Valentin Kienzl ended all thoughts of a comeback with a goal off a corner kick in the 82nd minute.
"We have to do a better job defensively," Mangione said. "Tanner wasn't playing well, but the defense let up once the scoreline reached 5-0 and 6-1. We can't do that and expect to do well in this tournament."

The translucent team from Brazillico managed an early lead, before some paintful tactics from the Insanicians evened things up. As the Brazillicans came out of the tunnel at the half, purple paint was poured on them.
"It was much easier to see 'em in the second half in that god awful purple."

Insanicians pip 'gools
In a brilliant display of counterattacking Belless managed a hat-trick within the first half hour. Mattigool, not to be undone scored just before the end of the first half with a lucky header. The 'gools came back in the second half, pressing hard, and scoring twice in quick succession to level the match. The crowd rallied behind the home team. Belless managed a run down the wing, crossed it in to midfielder Henry James, who headed it into the back of the net. It was almost a replay of Mattigools first half goal. Mattigool pressured the Insanicians again, and broke through, again. With the score level at 4 all and full time approaching quickly the Insanicians threw everything forward in an attempt to win the match and keep their dreams of a second round berth alive. You guessed it Belless past the defence, tripped in the box. Luke Handly stepped up to the plate and smashed it into the top left corner winning it for the Insanicians.

An indifferent start to the group with 2-2 against Giant Zucchini (who clearly have an advantage in that zucchini must be more than ripe before they turn 21) was followed up by a couple of good matches against what most people hoped would be the prügelknabe of the group. Clearly, however, Lykaia have overwhelmed most people's expectations - a 7-3 win over Munsen was followed up by a 4-1 win over Qia, both unknown newcomers. In order to finish in the top two, Cockbill Street were required to beat the invisible Lykaians, whose names we have not been able to recover.
Today's match, however, was a gritty and uncertain one. No one really stood out except for striker Robert Stubbings - the only one left from Youth World Cup 4 - and the Mountains' midfielder Stian Andersen. Andersen was the playmaker who was behind the 1-0 goal that Stubbings put in after only ten minutes, and he then scored the second goal on a free kick.
However, the fourth match of the tournament against newcomers Qia was a disaster. 0-2 down after ten minutes, with some terrible defensive mistakes, and Tom Betts and Robbie Stubbings had to step it up again. Luckily for the Streeters, Stubbings had another great day at work, and is maybe shaping up to take over as striker on the national team. Today he certainly earned his money, with a beautiful goal from 20 metres and another assist to Tom Betts' equaliser. However, despite a second-half dominance, the Street could not put in the winning goal, and rely on Giant Zucchini or Lykaia to lose if they are to have any chanes.
Stubbings claimed after the match that he had been "lucky", and was "disappointed in the way the team and himself played against these newcomers." Funnily enough, we couldn't find anything wrong with him...but it's good to see that he has the ability to criticise himself.
Line-up: Underwood - H Fearinciter, Stronginthearm, Wartham, E Fearinciter - Jones - Rankin, Andersen, Keegan - Betts - Stubbings.

Group F Continues to Not Be Interesting
Yet another day of 3 draws in Group F. This time, Aquiliana held a 2-goal lead over Kylaai at the break, before breaking down and allowing 2 near the end. Mendenatrius scored the first goal in the 14th minute, a beautiful header off a corner kick, and Equilonaris broke through the defense with some great moves to score the second, at 42 minutes. But then, at 72 minutes, a player broke free of Algor and flew down the left wing, serving a beautiful ball whose recipient put it away easily. And with just 6 minutes left in the game, Piscina took down an opponent in his own box, giving Kylaai the game-tying penalty. Piscina was, fourtunately, only given a yellow card.
The manager, Spalo Conirtus, says he will be looking to "mix things up a little" for the next match, against group leaders Magnus Valerius. Look for Pratosus and possibly Wesley-Propides to get a chance to start.

Possbily Starblaydia's Golden Generation?
U21s pick up 4th straight win in Group Stage
With a single Eomer Hall on the scoresheet once more, Starblaydia pipped Oaker to the points. Starblaydia's Under-21s now have won the Maximum 12 points from their four Group B games, putting them in a near-unassailable position, with only Raptor Claw, defeated 4-3 on Matchday 2, able to catch the young Starblaydis
Too many Oakers appeared to spoil the broth as All the similarly-named Oaker players were confused upon their coach, also called Oaker, shouting "Oi Oaker! Get it to Oaker on the side.no.. to Oaker! OAKER! Oh for fu... I said to OAKER!!!!"
This also proved distracting for the Starblaydis, thought they coped with it well. In a rather sneaky move, the U21 coaching staff downloaded pictures of the Oaker squad from the internet, and reffered to them only by numbers and faces. Thus were Starblaydia prepared for:
Oaker
Oaker Oaker Oaker Oaker
Oaker Oaker Oaker Oaker

A Draw agaisnt Creedence Clearwater in their next match would see Starblaydia through as Group B winners, but everyone will be wanting a perfect 5 out of 5 record.

A not common tactic has been used in this third match,Team Coach Carides thought that he would crush the opposing team by putting 6 Mid-fielders.
His tacti csurely dind't work during first half, where Munsen completey dominated the match for 45 min.
During second half the story changed totally in favour of the Young Stars,Castello dribbled through 4 defenders and scored one of the most wonderful goals in Esth's football history.
Second goal was scored by Inderwaghe AZ midfielder,Claudio Santos, with a header during a corner kick.
"we played with a tactic never used before,we had a hard time dealing with the Munsen's attack during the first half, the centerfield kept making too many mistakes.Fortunately things changed during second half, centerfield managed to do their job and we played an outstanding second half,to bad we could not stop their attacks,it'll go better next time" comments defender Gissane.
Esth still remains 4th in Group D with 4 points while Cockbill Street leads with 7.
Qualification is still possible but Esth cannot afford to make big mistakes again.

JJ (to Eta Ja): Eta, I wanted you as substitute in this match, but since Y Nj is nowhere to be found, would you mind starting?
Eta Ja: Err... (he was lost in his own thoughts) no.
Y Nj: Hey, I just wanted to cheer up the mood a bit.
JJ: Ah, here you are! anyone else missing?
Jenji Y: Sasi is missing!
JJ: Sasi? Syku Kansu, any idea where he is?
(two voices say no)
JJ: well, I mean Syku Kansu from Kalimntan, not Syku Kansu from Na~ovi. You share a room with him, no idea?
Syku Kansu from Kalimntan: No idea, He wanted to do "something" when I left.
JJ: Well, go and make him come, we don't have much time.

Sasijilvenku Dikelesinivetisaru: Hejida, sortry for me being late.

SKfK: You spent the entire morning on the toilet...
SD: That was due to other reasons.
SKfNa~ovi: and which reasons? Now you made me interested.
SKfK: Yeah, tell!

SKfK: No need to laugh.

The Dukes Duke It Out In Group F
The Dukes, the U21 squad of Magnus Valerius, has gotten out to a very good start in the Fifth U21 Cup. After Drawing to Audioslavia 0 - 0 and crushing Eauz with a hat trick, 3 - 0, and even before that causing a thrilling draw with Aquilania 5 - 5, the Dukes have claimed their position at the top of the charts. It is uncertain that they will stay up there, but they have done good to prove that they have the chance to succeed. They might possibly hold the future for the national team, The Boyars, in future World Cups. After all, in the next World Cup, it is likely that the majority, if not all of the Dukes, will be recruited into the new rosters; many of the Boyars are on the verge of retiring from football.
"I feel really good about the spirit in my players," says Head Coach Franz Breuer. "We might be a positive force and it might show several players that may shine in possible talent... talent ripe for the Boyars. And The Boyars really need some talent after their mediocre WCs since they entered World Cup contention." The Boyars have ended up at 54th place on the world charts and it is unlikely that they will edge up after another mediocre performance in WC XVI. It is a very optimistic wish to believe that perhaps the Dukes will succeed where the Boyars didn't, but perhaps that wish is not so far out of reach.
Not soon after the coach was mobbed by a gaggle of hideous cosplayers. It may be uncertain that the coach will recover from the shock of the hideous... SAILOR MAN!

Crystils Inspired by Reserve Performances.
The Crystilakere National team who is currently in Alikki-Corra, Vilita preparing for their first ever Cup Final in the AOCAF II Championship match will be able to take some inspiration from the performance of their understudies who have been thrown into the spotlight in both the Under 21 World Cup and The Cup of Harmony due to the intense focus the Crystils have put on getting their first trophy.
The Crystils were at near-full force for their first Under-21 Matchup against Carthage and Troy. Only attacker Toader Pold was still with the AOCAF side in Vilita. Oussent Non made a big impression during the match, scoring the game winning goal to send the Crystils to a flying start in the final Under 21 group, before Non himself was called to Vilita for the AOCAF Final. Crystilakere 1-0 Carthage and Troy
The next match, against another new team, the Eystrck "Force", would be the first that the Crystils would attempt with their depleted roster. The lack of depth in the Crystilakere youth side was visible from the start, however they worked hard and left the inspired Force dissapointed to not win, but still pleased with their first points. The Crystils would fall off the top of the table due to this result, still having the matchup with Top-Ranked Rejistania to go. Crystilakere 2-2 Eystrck
The 3rd Crystils match in the Under 21 would be a real impressive match for the second-string youngsters. Coming up against Tanah Burung they knew a loss there could put them in bad shape for the next round. Fortunately for the Crystils they were able to step it up, firing in a late goal to break the deadlock and put the Crystils back in a tie for first place with Rejistania. Crystilakere 2-1 Tanah Burung
As for the Cup of Harmony, the Crystilakere FA really was short on options, wanting to keep their Under 21 prowess in tact yet still field a formidable team for the match. So it was all left on the shoulders of 22 year old Michael Baker, starting alone up front in a 5-4-1 altered formation which saw many unknown's in the lineup.
Luckily, the Crystils had a somewhat easy match first time out against one of the worst teams in the Cup, Ebon Hawk. The Crystils all remember when they met the Hawks in the last Under 21 Cup, Baker especially who was a Crystili hero after sending his side to the next round. It was Baker again who downed the Hawks in a very impressive three-goal performance that he certainly will remember for a long while. Crystilakere 3-1 Ebon Hawk
Then, it was on to the toughest match of the competition, one that the Crystils would like to have seen how they performed with a full squad, but knowing that their first ever cup Final was more important, they again fielded the weakend 5-4-1 for the match against Giant Zucchini. After dropping a goal down early to a player whose name resembled the noise he made while his pinned nostrils begged to be freed, The Crystils fought back through Michael Baker and Sebastian Wolf to score an improbable victory. Crystilakere 2-1 Giant Zucchini
News of the improbable unbeaten run by the Crystili understudies has flown fast to the training grounds in Alikki-Corra where the Select squad training for the big final matchup with NEWI-Cefn Druids has been cheering them on. The inspiration that they are showing after each impressive overseas victory is un-measurable with each training session getting more and more impressive and the Crystils beginning to look like a team that is about to enter the final of the World Cup, and certainly are resembling more the look of the team that knocked Vilita out of the competition and not the one that embarrassingly lost to Xile.

The Sarzonian Under 21 national team came in to the match against Lovisa's Under 21 team with reminders of the senior national team's 2-0 loss against Lovisa in World Cup qualifying that knocked the Stars out of World Cup competition and sent the team to the Cup of Harmony.
Forward Kenny Cooper and midfielder Valentin Kienzl made sure Lovisa wouldn't get a second act as the two combined for all five goals and sent the Junior Stars to a 5-2 win.
The win keeps the Junior Stars alone in first place in the Group E standings and leaves the team five points clear of third place Brazillico. Total n Utter Insanity won a goalfest agaisnt Mattigool 5-4 and Brazillico lost to Finrods 1-0.
"That was a good win, an entertaining win, no question," Coach Terry Mangione said. "I wanted to remind the lads about Lovisa's defeat of the senior team to give them some extra motivation and it definitely worked."
Cooper opened the scoring in the 12th minute after a Kienzl free kick hit the crossbar, skying for a header that caught the Lovisa keeper off guard. Cooper struck again in the 23rd minute, slotting a pass from Kienzl in the area into the back of the net almost before the Lovisan supporters found their seats.
Lovisa cut the lead to 2-1 when goalkeeper Mark Tanner slipped on the grass and could not get to an easy tap in. The halftime score was 2-2 thanks to a defensive lapse that led to an own goal by Tanner.
The Junior Stars regained their early intensity courtesy of Kienzl, who banged home a rare cross from Cooper in the 53rd minute to retake the lead. He added goals using both his left and right boots, an indirect free kick in the 65th minute after Cooper slotted the ball toward Kienzl and a header off a Cooper corner kick in the 83rd minute.
"We still have a lot of football left to be played," Kienzl said. "Even if we're through to the next round, we still have to do our jobs."
"It was good to get a chance to assist on some goals," Cooper said. "Valle and I have to make sure we do our jobs for this team if we want to move on to the later rounds."
The Stars face Brazillico in the next match in the first round.

Audioslavia sack U21 manager
Boss goes after 'slaves concede barrage of goals
Audioslavian U21 manager Jeff Jeffers has been booted out after the team let in numerous goals in their campaign.
The 'slaves started well with an emphatic 0-0 win over Kingsford, but sandwhiched between that game, their 0-0 mauling of Magnus Valerius, and their 1-0 demolition of Eauz, the 'slaves put on such an awful display against Kylaai that Jeffers had to quit. Audioslavia won the match, but conceded an incredible ONE goals.
Youth F.A. boss Peter O`Flagherty was quoted as saying "im sorry but i dont give interviews" and we stand by his decision.
I've been Jeremy Jaffacake, g'nite bitches.

I'll have some pie
Everything was going along swimmingly; Belless had just scored a double hat trick in the first half. That's when it happened, the Lovisa pie both teams had at half time was totally intolerable and incoherent, much like the Lovisan squad, who where unaffected by it. I could go into more detail about what happened, but you’ll thank me for not doing so. Needless to say the Lovisa managed to score an easy 7 to take the match and leave the Insanicians waiting to hear on the Brazillican match to see if they are through to the second round.

Cubs Making Progress(a)
TnUI -- The defending U21 champions, the Bedistan Cubs, are continuing to destroy all opposition in their path.
The Cubs' fourth match was against the youngsters of NEWI Cefn Druids. The Druidish teams have grown exponentially in talent over the last several years, no longer suffering the fate of consistent whipping-boys wherever they go. But even though they are no longer the Druids they once were, they still weren't quite able to keep up with Bedistan's up-and-coming talent. A pair of goals by Harry Griswold and a freak shot from defender Misty Phillips gave the Cubs a strong 3-1 win over the Druids.
Final score:
Bedistan 3 (Griswold 22, 80; Phillips 48)
NEWI Cefn Druids 1 (28)
Then next up: Kaze Progressa. Progressan teams have been relatively quiet as of late, and it seems as though they are falling into relative obscurity. Bedistan helped to reinforce this by chalking up their ninth (at least) straight win.
Final score:
Bedistan 4 (Griswold 19, Taft 39, McDonald 67, Hudson 70)
Kaze Progressa 1 (52)

These five results consitute the greatest winning streak in Starblaydi Football History. Though bettered by the Ice Hockey Team's 9-game streak, this is the greatest achievement since the players who weren't William Webb-Ellis made sure they didn't pick up the ball and kept it on the floor with some neat passing moves for a good goal.
We all hope that Starblaydia can strech to a nine-game winning streak, as this will mean they'll have gone all the way to the final and won that too!
Well let's not get too carried away. Hey! What are you doing? Put me dooooooowwwwnnn!

How are we?
Third.
Third? well, we aren't last this time.
True...we even won one, 6-5.
Wow. But we are third.
Yes, we lost one, and then tied another, but we are third only on goal differential.
Ahh, I see, Any chance we can make it to second?
If we win with many goals.
Well, I hope they do.
Um, sir, I saw the budget for the U21 team...Why is 98% in 'Bet on the U21 team to make the cup?'
*silence*
Sir?
They had better win with lots of goals.
*closes eyes, and then shakes his head sneaking out.*

Another Boring Deadlock!
The Valerian Dukes and The Aquilianian U21 Team Come to another Draw
After drawing with Audioslavia yesterday, today we see yet another draw for our Dukes. They have done awfully well so far in the Fifth U21 Cup. However, it is far from the point that we can call our Dukes "stellar". This matchday, the Dukes hosted the Aquilianians on home turf, but it seems that this particular advantage only helped in aiding the Dukes from getting scored against. The defense played excellently as they guarded off any attempt made by Aquiliana from scoring a goal. However, the offense that the Dukes tried to put up did not meet with success.
In the premier minutes of the game, the Dukes (primarily Ivan Gorbachev) attempted to goal, but Ivan Gorbachev failed to get past the Aquilianian goalkeeper. It turned out to be yet another game that the Dukes have to tack on their somewhat poor scoring record. Throughout the game, both teams deadlocked and neither sides could score a goal due to excellent defenses put up by both teams and rather shoddy offenses to boot.
"We are doing well, I think," says Trent Tandem, midfielder. "We're doing much better than the Boyars, our national team, did in the last World Cup!"
After Audioslavia's 'slaves managed to crush Eauz with a 0 - 1 victory, they have replaced Magnus Valerius as top of the charts. However, it is likely that they might not stay at the top for long, as their scoring record has been lacking like the Dukes. It can be easily said that both teams share the top, and any loss will bring either team under. The Dukes, however, have a strong defensive flavor, and the team is yet to lose a game.

Haperd are one match away from the next round in the under 21. If we can win over Liverpool England and hope that Krytenia lose or draw their match, Haperd will be playing on to the next round. If not, Haperd has performed well and we will look to do better next time. We are very proud to win over Europa Brittania and also to draw with Vilita and Liechtenistan. We wish we could have not lost against Krytenia because that would have helped us get more points.

Apprentices struggle in final game
Draw is Still Enough To Make Second Round
The third draw of the championship for the Apprentices, and again it came against a relatively unknown nation - Esth, who have played in one U21 championship before, where they reached the second round. The Esthians, however, have been surprisingly extrovert throughout the championship, and it was a bit unfortunate that they had to be knocked out today. Still: Better them than us, as the proverb goes.
They have experimented with some very strange formations in this tournament - a 3-6-1 against Munsen followed by a 4-2-4 against Lykaia. Today, however, they played a reasonably attacking 4-3-3, as they were required to win the match in order to advance. And what the Esthian players lacked in skill, they more than made up for in work rate - something that our "stars" who have been brought up in the "slow-reggae"-mode of the Compound League could well learn from.
Still, there were flashes of brilliance - from both sides. Esthian striker Koji Takawa was unlucky not to get the early goal after ten minutes, as a cross from Claudio Santos nearly reached his head but was headed away by 17-year-old Wartham. Similarly, Robbie Stubbings should have scored five minutes later when he found space for a shot in the penalty area, but his effort went inches wide of the net.
Esth pushed forward for the victory, sending even centre-back Custerman up to help the effort at times. Naturally, it had to end in counter-attacks from the Street, who were employing (by orders of national coach Hexatux - another math-logic device of a manager recently bought from the Orange-White-Blue Regions) a defensive system to save the point that would in all likelihood send them through to the second round. A beautiful long pass from Harald Fearinciter landed at Tom Betts' feet, as he finally showed his worth in this championship - he dribbled off Westerhof, and as the other three defenders were still trying to get home, Betts found himself alone with Anton Vahdettin. He looked to all the world as he was going to chip it over Vahdettin and put it into the net - that's what he did, too, but not in the way you might think. He chipped it high up into the air, and then jumped up himself to head it into the net - possibly the cheekiest goal seen so far in the U21 tournament.
Hexatux was obviously not pleased with this completely incomprehensible and illogical behaviour in a goal-scoring situation, and Tom Betts walked off the pitch in anger fifteen minutes into the second half. On came the 17-year-old Chris Nash, who must be disappointed with getting into a 15-man-squad and still only getting 55 minutes of football in the tournament so far. And Nash couldn't provide the sting to the attack that Betts had given, either - he is too much of a targetman alike Stubbings for that. As a result, the midfielders found themselves struggling to pass the ball to anyone, since the strikers were just hiding in an attempt to get out and score when the ball arrived. However, the Esthian defenders intercepted it easily when it did come, and was just as keen to counter-attack as the Street were in the first half.
Then, in the seventy-eighth minute, Esth got a corner after a fabulous save by Stuart Underwood. The cross came in high from substitute Roberto Castello, and tiny Koji Takawa was the tallest man in the box with unbelievable agility - equalising with a simple header to the left of Underwood. An equaliser - which still meant that Cockbill Street were through in first place, thanks to Giant Zucchini leading comfortably over Lykaia somewhere else in the insane dimension.
The Esthians, keen to get another goal, were time and again frustrated by the defenders - particularly substitute Craig Joyce, who was doing a great job at right back despite being out of his normal striker position at Athletic. Perhaps the Street have found a back talent to replace Petter Stonelover after so long. Esth's greatest chance came after 88 minutes, when Koji Takawa, already hero with his equaliser, was fouled by Wartham just outside the penalty area. Takawa took the free kick himself, and it curled dangerously near the goal, but a brilliant one-handed save from Underwood saved Cockbill Street's point and also the second round clash with Raptor Claw.
Esth: Vahdettin - Gissane, Westerhof (Husodo on 84), Custerman, Inoue - Lidri (Garceau on 81), Mikopolis, Santos - Takawa, Discroll, Tompkins (Castello on 72)
Street: Underwood - H Fearinciter (Joyce on 72), Stronginthearm, Wartham, E Fearinciter - Jones - Rankin (Nickel-carbide on 74), Andersen, Keegan - Betts (Nash on 59) - Stubbings.
Esth 1 (Takawa 78)

Last 8, here we come
Giant Zucchinis felled in six-goal excite-a-thon
Before this match, Starblaydia had never played Giant Zucchini. Theyed never even eaten a Zucchini full-stop, so were wary of what they might face in this match. Legends and rumours of killer fruit and vegetables did not help Starblaydia's training sessions
Starblaydia overcame these worries with ease as regular-looking Human-beings stood before them. These regular-looking Zucchinis were soon proved to be below-par as young Tetsuo Naoki scored for Starblaydia.
Giant Zucchini managed two goals in reply before the end of the first half, but this only served to fire up Eomer Hall, who levelled the match at 2-2 before the teams went in the tunnel at the break.
Hall could have scored two more, but he unselfishly knocked the ball back to Daniel Scott who half-volleyed into the top corner for his first ever goal. With both wing-backs exploiting Zucchini's narrow play, it was left to Vladimir Tsarev to circle around their back line and crash the ball in off the goalkeeper.
So far Starblaydia have scored fifteen goals in six matches, while conceding just five, with four clean sheets. Next up in the quarter-finals, the furthest Starblaydia have ever gone in a Football Competition, barring their Regional compeition the AOCAF, which didn't have a second round.
Eomer Hall now has 7 goals for his country and he's only 21. With only two men above him in the scoring charts, one of whom is retiring after the Cup of Harmony, Eomer is certainly going to light up the international scene for years to come, not to mention in the Starblaydi Alpha Division for his club, Hallad Reavers.

The Sarzonian national team was riding high as Group E champions, leading all 48 Under 21 World Cup teams in goal differential and finishing third in goal scoring. Forward Kenny Cooper all but cemented a spot on the all tournament team with a two goal performance against Brazillico and the Junior Stars looked like world beaters.
Then familiar rivals Krytenia knocked the Junior Stars out in the second round of the tournament, 4-2 as the Sarzonian offense finally stopped being able to cover up for a leaky defense.
"We know the Celestials are probably whooping it up in there," Cooper said. "They won, but we lost. End of story."
The Junior Stars have failed to advance past the next round of qualifying in each of their two Under 21 World Cup appearances and that fact has Coach Terry Mangione on the hot seat. Several sports call in shows had calls of irate fans screaming for his head.
"I can't let that get in the way of my job," Mangione said. "That decision is not in my hands."
A source close to the team's management said on condition of anonymity that Mangione's job would be evaluated now that the World Cup has concluded.
"We would do so anyway regardless of the results," the source said. "It's a standard practice of 'what did we do well, what could we do better.' That's all it really is." The source added that the powers-that-be were "leaning very strongly" toward keeping Mangione.
"We've done well in this competition," he said. "One loss shouldn't mean the scuttling of our program no matter how hard it was to take."

Kings dethroned
The young Orange-Blues defeated Kingsford with a close 2-1 win. Jingus Gonorrhea (who is said to be a relative of Alan Belmore the n+5th) was the only Kingsford player, who dared to come into Total n Utter Insanity for the cup, but dark magic allowed him to "split" in a way before only know from UNIX-processes so that eleven players were on the field and three on the bench for later substitutions. They all looked exactly alike and had all the number 1 on their kits so it is no point to try to distinguish between them.
the ASR first wanted to file a protest against this magical procedure, but then realized that bilocation (well, really 14-location) is far more acceptable than zombie-evisceratomatoes. And the WCC had no problems with them in the Cup of Harmony (in the first one), so Teke Daran uttered the phrase "Stasi'xen jilih!" of which the closest translation would be the german "Scheiß drauf!" or a bit less close "Bah, don't give a damn!" and then took another sip of coffee.
The match saw the first chances for Kingsford, maybe it the Orange-Blues were simply confused by that team or afraid to risk duels because of rejistanian superstition. Due to this, Jingus Gonorrhea was able to score easily in the 3rd minute. Jisu Jetta reminded the team that Anisiverakansa, the dark goddess of the Tiger, has "UNIX-forked" (the term "'riva" is untranslatable, that is only a try) the Tadiki-guards and that Mindi and his followers fought them without fear. Okay, Mindi and his followers were in a mission from Taderekansa while the young Orange-Blues are only in a mission from the ASR, but it apparently worked despite this. Some problems in the Kingsford defense occurred and were used for 2 good chances by Syku Kansu from Na~ovi, (who really is from Kalimntan like the player, who is called "Syku Kansu from Kalimntan" by our newspaper). Jingus Gonorrhea could only parry one of of these and so Syku Kansu from Na~ovi brought the young Orange-Blues ahead in the 16th minute.
In the 38th minute, Jingus Gonorrhea fouled Njirak Tadu and the referee awarded the Orange-Blues a free kick. Sasijilvenku Dikelesinivetisaru has an excellent record with free kicks and so he went to take it. He thought otherwise when he saw the insanican policemen pointing their guns at him in an attempt not to cause another Dikelesinivetisaru-gate like in the match against Ebon Hawk. Lyku Jen shoot, but the Jingus Gonorrheas could parry the ball. At half-time, the score was still 1-1.
The second half saw some good rejistanian chances, but none was capitalised until the 51st minute, when the Orange-Blues were awarded a penalty kick for a rude foul of Jingus Gonorrhea, who was red-carded for that. After the penalty kick, which Jen Y shot in the upper left corner, unkeepable for Jingus Gonorrhea, someone noted, that there were 11 Jinguses on the field. One of them apparently 'riva-ed to replace the Jingus gonorrhea who was sent off. No Jingus Gonorrhea confessed to have 'riva-ed so the referee stopped the match, he said because of 'too much Gonorrhea!'
The result:
Rejistania 2 (Syku Kansu from Na~ovi 16th, Y 51st)
Kingsford 1 (Gonorrhea 3rd)

Crystils Boosted for Quarter Finals
The Crystilakere Cup Of Harmony and Under 21 Cup teams have now returned to full strength following the completion of the 2nd AOCAF Tournament in Vilita. The two teams had been playing with limited rosters with 23 Crystili players in full training in preperation for Crystilakere's first ever cup final against NEWI Cefn Druids.
The Full Strength Crystils showed their international potential by controlling much of the game, and leading 2-1 for much of the match. While NEWI Cefn Druids had taken an undeserved lead early in the match, Filippo Ferraro and Darren Whelan both scored for Crystilakere to put the underdogs ahead at half time. However, the Crystil dreams were postponed in the dying minutes of the match when NEWI Cefn Druids were able to score a messy goal after a large scramble in the box, with Trevor Welsh believed to have gotten the final touch to send the match to extra time. From there, NEWI Cefn Druids's opening goalscorer Trevor Belmore cracked the Crystil dreams with a rebound goal halfway through extra time, giving the 2nd AOCAF Trophy to NEWI Cefn Druids.
Filippo Ferraro will be ready to return to the AOCAF Campaign after being named man of the match in the final. The Crystils had an off day in the Cup of Harmony, allowing everyone to arrive in Raptor Claw and get used to the dangerous environment ahead of time. However, they will not be joined by Senior Under-21 players Oussent Non and Toader Pold, who have been flown to Total n Utter Insanity for the Quarter Finals of the Under 21 Cup, where the depleted under 21's escaped Audioslavia in the second round in penalty kicks after a goalless draw between the teams. Crystilakere 0-0 Audioslavia
Prior to the Second round matchup with Audioslavia, the Crystils had to earn their way back to the top of their group after a dissapointing loss to Rejistania. Crystilakere had hoped to stay unbeaten after a strong start, but the Rejistanian team proved to strong and clinched first place in the group by beating Crystilakere. The loss is the only regular time loss for Crystilakere since the dissapointing defeat to Xile in the AOCAF. Crystilakere 1-2 Rejistania
The Crystils made certain of their second round spot by bouncing right back and beating Ebon Hawk by 2-0. The Ebon Hawk team has done poorly this time out after making it to the knockout stages where Crystilakere beat them to advance to the semi finals of the last Under 21 cup. Crystilakere 2-0 Ebon Hawk

Stubbings - OUR NEW STONE
Jorvik FC: We aren't selling him yet
Robert Stubbings was the only shining light in yesterday's match between the youth teams of the two Cup of Harmony hosts, Cockbill Street and Raptor Claw. His early goal from the penalty spot brought Cockbill Street ahead in the game, and he showcased some magnificent technique to bring the Apprentices into an otherwise closely-fought game.
After two quick Raptor Claw goals before half-time, the Apprentices came out hungry for goals, but less able to create the chances. Only a brilliant dribble by Stubbings, again, shone any light of the match - and he equalised with a good right-footed shot.
The extra-time was goal-less and chance-less, as Hexatux ordered the players to stay back in System Jesejil (which was later figured out to mean and so the game went to a penalty shoot-out which was a bit too exciting for some. The first five penalties were all scored, but then right-back Harald Fearinciter came on. His effort was skied over the bar, and the Street were looking odds on to the English-curse.
Luckily, Stu Underwood showed his prowess as a keeper, making a magnificent reaction save to his right to send the ball into the post and out. Then, Robert Stubbings stepped up, and did what nobody in the stadium expected. He fired an amazingly hard shot that flew in off the bar - no one ever saw it coming, and a speed gun (no, it's not a gun used very quickly - later measured the shot at 117 kilometres an hour, a stunning speed. When a Raptor Claw player later missed it, Nickel-carbide had a huge chance to decide the match, but his shot went wide of the goal and it was still 3-3.
Disappointingly poor as these players were, the sudden death part of the shoot-out was actually more exciting. Raptor Claw scored each of their first two penalties, and although Einari Fearinciter and Keegan scored as well, their efforts was more than shaky. The eighth penalty was taken by yet another Raptor, but the whole Apprentice bench (four players and a clacks officer who is responsible for Hexatux's caffeine injections and output interpretation, given the economy of the Streetian football federation) went up in joy as they realised keeper Stuart Underwood would have the opportunity to decide the match.
His shot was a soft one to the right side of the goal...the keeper went to the left, and the ball rolled calmly into the net. The Apprentices have reached their first Under-21 quarter-final, and finally, somebody apart from Jorvik FC care about youth sports in this country.
Jorvik FC, yes. They still have Robert Stubbings on contract for another four years, and that's probably the cleverest deal they've done yet. Despite earning quite a lot of money from their youth players, they have never been able to take the step out of the Human Premiership, and the question now is whether Stubbings is able to take them into the Compound League. Manager Fred Barnes certainly said that "Stubbings is not for sale, Jorvik have big plans with their young squad and are going to go up next year - mark my words!"4

------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties were looking to make a big impact on the under 21 field, but were quickly sent back to earth after flying high in the 4-0 victory over Liechtenistan. The Jungle Kitties got off the a big start early with Serge DuPont putting Vilita into the lead going into the half. However a pair of substitutions at the half seemed to unsettle the Jungle Kitties with Esemar Aliana and goalscorer DuPont being replaced by the less experienced duo of Sublé Tonic and Mauro Baraza. Haperd were able to equalize 20 minutes into the half. Vilita made one more substitution, replacing Senior defender Jaloey Afrikka with Yeaddin Owls midfielder Calaesa Mitaroka, but were unable to crack the Haperd wall, and the match would end in a disappointing 1-1 draw. The match marked the full under 21 debut of Corra Rovers Defensive Midfielder Lai Otieno, son of former Vilitan Regional midfielder Motaak Otieno, who is currently playing for the Vilitan Masters in the Krytenian Masters Invitational.

------------Following their dissapointing draw with shadow-club Haperd, the Vilita Jungle Kitties knew they would have to step up the play against Krytenia, as a loss against their Regional Rivals would put them in a deep hole in their quest for the Under 21 Championship. However, The Kitties responded well, and immediately took the game to the young Celestials. Vilita kicked off with Mijatos running the ball passed 2 Celestials before sliding it accross to DuPont who smashed a 25 yard volley into the back of the net barely a minute into the match. A Period of even play ensued, with each keeper being kept on their toes, before Vilitan Non-League players Jeremie Emeka, discovered on a local field in Kirota, notched his second career under-21 goal. the score would remain 2-0 at the half, but it would not stay that way long.
------------Mijatos and DuPont exchanged goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half, shutting the door early on any potential Krytenian comback, and leaving coach Baron O'Toole to consider benching his stars for the upcoming Liverpool England match. After a few minutes of thought, O'Toole did just that, sending in youthful forwards Carmine Mbidzo and Mauro Baraza for Double Goalscorer DuPont and midfielder Malovar Stokks. Baraza would make good on his run out, the Eastal Lunar Forward scoring his first ever Under-21 goal and second career in a Vilitan National side. The match would end 5-0 and Vilita had established themselves as THE team to beat in Group 7.

~The Force may not have made it to the semi's but Head Coach Brown is extremely pleased with the matches, and The Force. The third match against Rejistania may not have been an interesting one, but The Force held their own. Ayala and Spradley had outstanding games and were able to hold Rejistania's impressive offense for a good portion of the game. Despite Syku Kansu's one goal, the defense showed their stability and agility in this impressive game of a 0-1 turnout.~
~As for the last match against Tanah Burung, brown was also very impressed with his team. The first half started off bad for Browns team when the opposing team got two quick goals. One in which Contreres made an error in handling skills, he held the ball for too long, as to find that the other team had already swept it away. The second one was a misjudgement by Venwaski, when he clearly thought the ball was out. However the bad start, as half-time approached, Redding and Istelar made for a quick give and go to set the pace for the next five goals following. Redding sinked in another nice one off a corner made by Renzo Pranka in the remaining five minutes of the game. The other three goals were made by Vanning-1, and Cleasting-1, and Istelar-2.~
~Overall, Brown was pleased, the end, of his teams performance, and is thankful for his invitation in the World Cup 5. He wants to thank alll the teams for great competition, and hopes to play them in the future.~

------------For the third time in four under-21 World Championships, The Vilita Jungle Kitties found themselves up against the Liverpool England under 21's. The first meeting between the sides was in U21WCII, Vilitas first venture into international football. Vilita Jungle Cats All-Time top Scorer Callum Banda scored his first ever goal for a Vilitan National side in the 2-3 Defeat which sent Vilita crashing out of the competition without registering a single point. However, it was Banda's second career Under-21 goal in U21-III that put Vilita in front in the 2-1 Victory over Liverpool England that started a historic 4 match win streak that saw the un-ranked Kitties topple Top-Ranked teams Rejistania, Tanah Burung and Kingsford before losing to Jeruselem in the Under 21 Final. After a dissapointing Under-21 IV Campaign, Vilita squared off once again with Liverpool England, knowing they would clinch a place in the second round simply by avoiding defeat.
------------Vilita had it all to do to get there though as Liverpool England jumped out to a big early lead. Attacking Midfielder Francis Drennan was able to embarrass the Vilita defense and put the Liverpool England Under-21's up just 2 minutes in. Drennan would shock the Jungle Kitties once again by doubling the LE advantage after 20 minutes. after half an hour was played, Musa Nikiema picked up the first yellow card of the match, taking down goalscorer Drennan and setting up a free kick for Liverpool England. Tom Brown converted to put LE 3-0 up. However, The Vilitan Resurgance began, and goals from Hluali Mijatos and defender Jaloey Afrikka brought the score back to 3-2 at the half. Mijatos scored again after the half to level the scores. Coach Baron O'Toole made 3 substitutions to try and get the lead, taking out 2 midfielders and a defender for Forwards Serge DuPont & Carmine Mbidzo, and midfielder Tanner Nerni. But the move backfired and Brown put Liverpool England 4-3 up before Nerni's goal with 5 minutes remaining ended the game in a 4-4 draw.
After the match, Liverpool England coach Mite Givup blindsided a local reporter who asked the coach to comment on the 4-4 draw with Vilita.
MG: "Draw? What are you talking about We Didnt Draw!
LR: Well yes the final score was 4-4. You drew?
MG: No! No! No! It's not true! We were winning 3-0! We had to win!
LR: But Coach that was only after half an hour, the game is 90 minutes long!
MG: Well... you don't amuse me! Thats not Fair! We proved we can beat them after 30 minutes, so that means we can beat them after 90 too!
LR: But sir your team just gave up, and they certainly didnt win!
MG: Well... we were protesting the format of the game, see, back in Liverpool England we play with 7 players on the field. So once we took the big lead, we decided that we would give up, in protest of the crazy 11-player game they play in Total n Utter Insanity.
LR: But you do know they play 11 a side EVERYWHERE, not just TNuI, don't you?
MG: Well I guess so, but We were on pace to win and possibly qualify for the next round, even though we don't approve of the formation the other teams are using, so the only respectable thing to do was give up, don't you see?
LR: I really don't understand!
MG: Well it makes sense to me, Anyway, we gave up, what's the big deal, just because we don't like the basic principles behind which the game is played? I think thats a perfectly good reason to throw away our chance at progressing to the next Round!
LR: Well thats a very inter... >Is Interuppted by TSPN Reporter<

Who Do Hoodoo? Not You!
Krytenia v Sarzonia. A match that has had rivalry for several years now. The Sarzonians eliminated Krytenia from AOCAF I and the last Under-21 Championship, and as seventh seeds here, they were espected to continue the hoodoo.
But despite taking a one-nil lead, the Stars just could not hold on. Paulsen, Barry Ulvæus, and a Rimmer double saw the Young Celestials take the game by the scruff of the neck. A consolation made th final score 4-2, but Krytenia advance to the Quarter-Finals, the first time the youth side have made it past Round One ever.

The few devoted Streetian fans who went to Total n Utter Insanity to watch the Under-21 Championship have not been disappointed so far. The Apprentices are still unbeaten after seven matches, and today's match was probably the most shocking of them all.
Led by their striker pair Harry Griswold and Robert Taft, who scored two goals each in the previous U21 World Cup final, the Bedistani "Cubs" were 4-9 favourites going into the match, especially as the Street had looked rather scruffy against nations such as Esth, Giant Zucchini and Raptor Claw.
The match, however, was much tighter that both the bookmakers and the Cubs fans would have appreciated. The apprentices came out in an attacking 4-4-2, for a change, with Chris Nash coming on for the vastly disappointing Tom Betts. Trevor Jones had been moved slightly as well, but was still more defensive than the other three midfielders.
Again, Stian Andersen quickly took control over the midfield, as he learned to utilise his wingers and strikers to create goal chances for the Apprentices. Gilligan and Boone, the Cubs wingbacks, were surprisingly weak and defensive, and had no help from their wingers Hudson and McDonald, who looked to be more content with staying up front and waiting for the ball to come up.
As a result, the Apprentices got in many good crosses - and Robert Stubbings showed examples of his well-developed physique as he won many duels in the box. One such occasion even resulted in a goal - Stubbings' fifth in the tournament - and it brought the Streetian fans on the stands into ecstasy.
1-0 was the score at half-time, when suddenly, manager Hexatux back at Streetian HQ was fed some special substance from Eauz better known as "joints" instead of the normal caffeine that the inventor, Siki Rej, had specifically said would be the only energy source that would lead to correct functioning. This caused severe malfunction in the S&S-DOS operating system (MS-DOS for Rejistanian math-logic devices, for those of you who are MLD-inclined), and the output was almost unintelligible. One thing could be made out though - player 9 (Stubbings) off, player 10 (Betts) on. Although the clacks officer found this extremely strange, he saw no reason to doubt Hexatux's calculations, and Stubbings was brought off.
How idiotic. By taking off their best striker, Cockbill Street had no power with which to finish off their chances, and when the Cubs' forward Griswold scored on Bedistan's second chance of the match, things were looking very grim indeed.
Back at HQ, Hexatux spewed out more crazy orders, one of which included the word "Karela". The interpreter immediately seized the opportunity to show that he knew something about Rejistanian football, and wired the message that Cockbill Street were to play in a 10-0-0 formation for the rest of the match. Somehow, it worked, and the Street survived the ninety minutes with a 1-1 scoreline. How Cockbill Street would get through a penalty shoot-out, though, was the question asked by all Streetian fans in the crowd.
Then, suddenly, Hexatux had another comprehensible word output (which, probably, was just a coincidental jumble of letters) "Takil". The interpreter wringed his head trying to figure out what it meant, but eventually decided that it had to do with attack, and orded a 3-4-3 formation for the Apprentices.
That helped bringing the match more even, and the extra-time was full of chances for both teams. Only one goal came of it, though - a free-kick from Rankin made it 2-1 six minutes from time, and the Street squeezed into the semi-final, where they'll meet either Jeruselem or Starblaydia. Attempts will be made to reschedule the Cockbill Street v Starblaydia match to the Vimesbairn National, seeing as Starblaydians can't play in Cockbill Street, but it is unlikely that this wish will be fulfilled.

A Seventh Straight win in Under-21 yeilds first Football Semi-Final
Top four. If you said that to Starblaydia's Under-21 team at the end of their last Tournament, they would have bitten your arm off to take this result. After a loss and two draws saw the youngsters crash out of U21WC4, they would have given almost anything to make it to the Semis.
As they came out to the enormous cheers of the ever-increasing numbers of Starblaydis in Total N Utter Insanity, Starblaydia were up against Jerusalem for the second time in two days. Yesterday, Jersusalem beat Starblaydia 1-0 in the Cup of Harmony, so the Under 21s had the opportunity for revenge today.
True to form, Eomer Hall blasted in the first goal after being put through by Naoki. The second was from a corner as defender Paul Nicholson drove a bullet header past the Jerusalem 'keeper, from a Naoki corner. Finally, a Man of the Match performance by Tetsuo Naoki was rounded off by his winning goal, making the final score 3-2 to Starblaydia.
Lets hope that the dedication and loyalty of the fans to young Naoki will mean that he continues to play his football for Starblaydia in the future, rather than the land of his father, Dance 2 Revolution. Talent like that is too good to waste.

OOC: Elin Ri accused Sikane Sekhika to be coached by Hexatux before it coached the CS U21. Of course that rumour was demented.
Hexatux speaks out
Syku Mejiya and Hexatux invetor Siki Rej travelled to Total n Utter Insanity to make an interview with the Cockbill Street U21 coach Hexatux, who happens to be a mathematical-logical device, able to coach soccer teams. Siki Rej is the inventor of it and since he had to fix Hexatux after the Bedistan match and so was in Total n Utter Insanity anyways, he was pleased to help interpreting the output. SM: Why did you decide to this strange substitution in the second half? Why was Stubbings substituted by Betts?
SR: (types) load stats match-last
compare `status minute 45 player Stubbings` `status minute 45 player Betts`
Hexatux spits out a a huge amount of numbers and strange abbreviations.
SR: Ouch... not good. Stubbings had worse stats than the Sikane substitute Krrsksh from Abysmalistan according to Hexatux... apparently the joints caused bit-shifts in his stats. I fixed the stats... fixed that all.
SM: Another question, why the sudden change in tactics from Sistenha Karela to Sistenha Hangila?
SR: (types) grep orders tactical < log.Bedistan
Hexatux bleeps and only after it got a new caffeine injection, it works again. Well, it spits out another strange combination of abbreviations and numbers
SR: He never ordered that tactical change. The joints might have slanied the output. He ordered however a change to System Takil... Lemme check....
SR types in astonishing speed
SR: Hmmm... Overflow! Slani, I never saw him that screwed up. Well, he ought to work again for next match... Even the decaf-coffee didn't slani him as much as the joints.
SM: decaf-coffee?
SR: Yeah, against Karela, bad thing, match ended 0:5 and he nearly exploded.
SM: When did it coach a match against Karela?
SR: slani, I didn't say that, did I? Well, it was Karela veran 3, so a pretty crappy team... To test him.
SM: I am Karela veran fan and they never won 5:0, no team of them did. Karela lines however won 5:0 once...
SR: might be that...
SM: Well, it was the main team, not the second or third.
SR leaves the room without further comment.

Eels Obliterated by HalfassedStates
-----------------The Turori Eels had little to show for their performance against Halfassed states in the opening match of Under-21 World Cup 5. The Eels found themselves 5-1 down at the half, with only a late goal frp, Ozzitra Bomai to give them some sort of momentum heading into the next match. After the match, Turori National Reporter Pikkainta Motari caught up with Bomai who expressed his delight and his inclusion on the Under 21 squad, and his second half goal, the first of his career.
It was my first match ever for Turori, so I was really looking to do something special. We were all disheartened to go down 5-1 at the half, but the manager's told me to push forward in the second half and thats exactly what I did. Tima(Maratima Tareak) has thrown a great ball in and I was able to spin and get a quick shot in which luckily beat the Halfasse... well he looked like he had a Full Ass too me, but thats besides the point, I got my first ever goal and it really felt nice.
-----------------The Eels first goal came midway through the first half, against the run of play when the always impressive Malaino Mumamba converted a 25 yard free-kick after Mika Sakatorra was taken down by the Halfassed Midfield. Oglethorpian-Based goalkeeper Aaron White was removed at half time after conceding 5 goals, and NEWI-Cefn Druids based Trevor Ugnata came on and gave a great performance to keep the score down. The Eels next match comes up against Bedistan, and they are expected to lose that match 2-1 to the current #1 ranked Under-21 side. Bedistan, even though being much higher ranked that Halfassedstates, are a side that has only beaten the Eels once in their two prior meetings in the Senior World Cups. While if ranks held true from Halfassed, the final score would be about 200-1; Turori Sci-Fi Experts insist the match will be a close affair ending 2-1.

"Thanks Gavin. Well, it's a glad sight for Krytenia to have something to be proud of here. A 1-0 victory over Crystilakere means that the only unseeded side in the last eight is now the only one in the last four.
Acienko Rimmer was the man with the goal, and he is fast becoming a hero back home in Sivad. Meanwhile, praise is heaped upon coach Kelvin Muniz, who has guided the team thus far. He took ovr from Trenton Dubilasco after his retirement from playing last year, and at just 38 is rocking the boat in the U21 World Cup.

After thumping The Weegies 3-0 in the second round, Jeruselem met Starblayia in a titanic clash. Both teams undefeated and with Jeruselem ranked 4th to Starblayia's 6th. Local press touted the U21 championship game as the battle of the Star Children with reference to Starblayia's name and Jeruselem's Jewish connection to the Gods.
In the end, Starblayia won 3-2 with a late goal to end Jeruselem's unbeaten run. It was the quarter final to watch with both teams not idling standing about defending, but trying to nail the winning goal. With score at 2-2,Tetsuo Naoki scored a sensational goal to stop the Squires winning run.

Sci-Fi Experts Spot-On in Loss
-----------------The Turori Sci-Fi experts were partying in celebration all through the night after successfully predicting, for the firs time ever, the final score of a major sporting event for their National Team. Following the Eels 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Halfassedstates, The Sci-Fi Departmenet went out on a limb to suggest that despite the fact that Eels next faced the defending Under-21 World Champions, the scoreline would not be as harsh on them, a simple 1-2 defeat.
-----------------As the final whistle blew, it became clear that the Sci-Fi department was coming into it's own, a late goal by Malaino Mumamba cutting the Bedistani advantage in half and the match ending 2-1. A Turori National Reporter caught up with one of the scientists afterward:

Halted, But Not Humbled
NJIRAK Tadu broke Krytenian hearts and put heavyweights Rejistania in the final with a sixty-second minute strike that proved to be the only goal of the game. He scored a blistering free-kick from twenty yards out, after Sasijilvenku Dikelesinivetisaru declined to take it, still nervous after the Ebon Hawk incident.
The defeat leaves Krytenia with only a chance of third against the losers of the second semi, played between Starblaydia and Cockbill Street. Experts back home think a Celestials v Blades playoff is likely, and this would mean that Krytenia will have met all of the other participating Atlantian Oceania teams.

Hypnotism Works 2 times out of 3!
Starblaydia Take 3rd Place in U21WC5 thanks to El Grando Oppo
To the Average Fan sitting at home watching the Starlaydia Vs Giant Zucchini match-up in the Second Round, they would have seen our brave boys in white and purple playing over-sized sentient vegetables.
Ask a Starblaydi player, on the other hand, and he'll tell you about 'the GZ boys' as if they were perfectly normal blokes. The reason for this is simple. Hypnotism. Well, maybe its not really simple, but simple enough for a single word.
El Grando Oppo, a famous Starblaydi TV-Hypnotist, rapidly coming towards the end of a non-renewed TV contract, had seen the devastating psychological effect that playing an enormous team of Stir-Fry Ingredients has on regular players. So, using his powers of mind control, Oppo made the Starblaydi players believe they were playing regular men, not irregular vegetables. Thus Starblaydia played to their potential and beat the GZ veggies, boys, whatever.
This, however, did not work in the Semi against the Street. Either the psychological impact of a Played 9, Won 0, Drew 1, Lost 8 record playing in Cockbill Street was too high a barrier, or maybe that 'You will beat Cockbill Street' does not automatically mean a win. Or even follow the rules for a rhyming couplet correctly.
So Starblaydia were dumped into the 3rd place play-off match. I say 'dumped', but this is the furthest Starblaydia's footballers have gone in any competition. Even so, it wouldn't be right to say 'sailed into the third-place play-off', as that sounds like we like to lose. Absymal.
Anyway. This match was rather dismal, for the first 90 minutes at least. Even when the Krytenian coach shouted:
"Hey Ref! That was against World Cup Directive 1742!"
When the referee pointed out that he wasn't in violation of that particular directive, stating that he hadn't reported for work wearing a ginge toupee, as that particular rule stated, promptly sending the Krytenian Coach to the stands for incorrect rule-quoting.
As the Match went into Silver-Goal Extra Time, Starblaydia finally snapped out of their malaise and scored a couple. Eomer Hall scored his seventh goal of the competition in his usual powerful style, while substitute Giannis Berisha scored the second in the first-half of Extra-Time to put the game beyond doubt.
3rd best in the World is OK? Of course it is! We'll bite your arm off to have another one next time, though 1 or two places higher would be nice.

After a heated match against Vilita and a defensive bore against Krytenia which ended 1:0 after a free kick by Tadu'he, the Orange-Blues were in the final. The opponent there were the Streeters, a team known for the extremely fast dwarfs, aggressive trolls and a coach, who works caffeine-powered: Hexatux. To limit the delays between Hexatux getting its input and giving its orders to the team, the computer-like device was standing in the coaching zone, with an interpreter and a big bottle full of highly concentrated caffeine standing beside it. Hexatux bleeped annoyingly during the rejistanian national anthem to indicate its lack of caffeine and the Streeters reacted with a certain delay, which prove that a bleeping Hexatux is more annoying than a cell phone in a concert.
The match started with a semi-defensive System Imdila of the Orange-Blues and a pretty agressive 4-3-3 from the Street. The Orange-Blues had problems with the attacking style and in the 5th minute, Liku Nanikcould only parry a hard shot in mid-height by using up luck for surely 4 matches. Jetta'he shouted incomprehensible orders at the team in several languages or mixtures of them ('slani' and similar curses in rejistanian and radjaveda could be understood). That made prove effective: kids lerned new words and the Orange-Blues improved. Despite that, the Streeters dominated the first half. Hexatux has advised to attack over the wings and since it knows the Orange-Blues from H1SR and partly even from HVSR, that strategy was effective: a misunderstanding between Jaje Rii~l and Njirak Tadu gave Chris Nash a good chance and the dwarf capitalised it. 0:1 in the 24th minute.
When the first half ended, it looked like the Streeters were going to win. In the second half however the Orange-Blues changed their tactics to a suicidal 2-3-5, the System Takil, infamous from the match against Mattigool in WC15. This sudden change of tactics might have something to do with Siki Rej, who somehow managed to get in contact with coach Jisu Jetta and shout something before he was arrested by security personnel. The new tactic and some rather strange substitutions (Sesu Ula~nu replaced Liku Nanik and a few minutes later: Kvansa Laijiyiaya for Sasijilvenku Dikelesinivetisaru) made Hexatux react strangely: It started to bleep in shorter intervalls and suddently it stopped working. No more output at all. The system crashed. Due to that, Cockbill Street had some problems with coping with the new tactic. Syku Kansu equalised the score in the 47th minute against a Street team in utter chaos. Only a few minutes later, Lyku Jen scored the lead for the Orange-Blues. Since they were leading, they changed into a not-risk-a-thing System Karela, which spoiled any chances. Rejistanian fans were shouting Karela-lines fan chants. When the final whistle blew, the Orange-Blues seemed to have realized that this match was the final and celebrations all over Rejistania started. The future for Orange-Blue Sekhika seemed to be bright and full of possibilities, seeing that this youth team is the best in the world (and seeing that programmers make some bugs, which cause crashes.).

First Championship Final End in Tears
Siki Rej Hunted By Streetian Police
Despite a good championship by the Apprentices, who beat Starblaydia 2-0 in a relatively uneventful semi-final, they could not go all the way in the Under-21 tournament held in Total n Utter Insanity. Coached by the erratic, caffeine-run math-logic device aptly named Hexatux, the team have squeezed past their opponents, and were only convincing against the Bedistan Cubs in the quarter-finals, where they won 2-1 after extra time despite the MLD being high on Eauzian joints.
Today's match, however, was a mystery to many. The Apprentices were ordered to play in a 4-3-3 formation, against a defensive Rejistanian team. Cockbill Street played the first half very well, and the small (though not, as the international version of Rejistanian newspapers claimed yesterday, dwarf) Chris Nash could sneak between two defenders Rii~l and Tadu to score the 1-0 goal after 24 minutes. The Street were clearly the better team in the first half, led by the tactical genius of Hexatux and the on-field attacking genius of Robert Stubbings. The Rejistanians went into the dressing room looking tired and confused.
Suddenly, Siki Rej (the programmer of Hexatux) was seen shouting something in Rejistanian at the Orange-Blue coach, whereupon Mr Rej was taken away by Insanician security personell. It is believed that this information he gave led to the Rejistanian coach bringing on Sasijilvenku Dikelesinivetisaru early in the second half, which caused a problem in Hexatux's database - since it's name database was only created with only 128 bits for each name, forename and surname. As each letter in MLD language is represented by an 8-bit code (where one bit is either on or off, so you can represent 256 symbols with this code), Dikelesinivetisaru's name occupies a total of 144 bits in the memory...which caused a nasty error to surface. Faced with this error, Hexatux chose to shut down completely, which meant the team was without a coach for the second half. As a result, Rejistania got two easy chances, and Kansu and Jen had turned the game around. The Streetian players, terrified of conceding more goals, turned to the same System Karela as the Rejistanians, and consequently the last thirty minutes was probably the most boring football ever watched at an international level (though some Izh'no'got matches spring to mind)
The Insanician organisers have released Siki Rej, and his whereabouts are currently unknown. However, the Streetian police would be very interested in his current location, given that they are considering charges of malpractice, major treachery and acts to hinder the football team's success laid against Mr Rej by the Department of Sports.

"Bah, that's infamous" says Siki Rej on his flight to a banana republic, no one ever heard of to a reporter of the KaMaRi Update. "128 bits name database... Vaje~n Sekhika has players with much longer names than that..." the plane started and Siki Rej watched the start through the window. Later Siki Rej read the article anew... "you know, the Streeters, never came that far before. I told 'em Hexatux is still 0.9.1... stewardess, a whiskey please, they said that's ok, it only has to work most of the time... It slani did, the Streeters reached the final... the errors up to then were caused by themselves. Joints... bah! and ok, in the final I decided to give my team an advantage... ok, I did,... but it's not like I programmed a bug in Hexatux for purpose... sometimes allocted memory was not freed completely... I knew that. The insane attack in the second half..., substituting the goalie, that was all to cause a memory leak... and then when Sasi was replaced, not the name but the tactical substitution caused it finally to crash... And now people treat me as if I were Nick Leeson or Adolf... Sanja'slani!...." He paused, as if realising where he is. "Sorry that I harassed you by telling all this. Why are you flying there?" - "To report about the civil war." - "Oops!"
