Klonor

Klonor Single-Man Space Fighters are the epitomy of fighter technology. The Interceptors are fast, the Escorts are agile, and the Bombers are armed to the teeth. Intra-System Sub-Space Drives allow them to be at the sight of an incursion in mere seconds, allowing for escape from combat in just the same way. Yet what of Inter-System combat? How often is merely one single system attacked, with the rest of them laying in restless apprehension, unable to send the assistance required. The large Destroyer and Carrier class of ships are capable of transporting the required Fighters, but only at great cost and risk. The result? Death and destruction exponentially higher than if reinforcements had been readily available.
However, the industry giants Subach Innes and Triton Dynamics have long collaborated and have recently developed a possible solution. Their solution: The newly christened 'Phase Fighter'.
The Phase Gates, long used throughout all of Klonor since before the days of the Galactic Alliance, are essentially teleportation devices with no known distance limit. Matter is inserted into one Gate, broken down into energy, and transmitted to a seperate Phase Gate where it is reconstructed into its original form. However, they are not instantaneous teleportation devices. The energy is transmitted at the sluggish speed at which Light travels, and are thus only useful within a given stellar system. The speeds of Sub-Space are far beyond this, but fighter craft only carry power cores capable of creating and sustaining an Intra-System Jump-Node. Thus, neither method is valid for bringing Fighters to where they are needed. Yet what if they are used in conjunction?
The new Phase Fighters are basically ships with a Phase Gate working as the outer hull. So, activation of the Phase Gate will transport the ship to another Phase Gate. They are also equipped with the standard Intra-System Sub-Space Drive. A Drive which cannot transport matter through Inter-System Sub-Space, but which can send energy quite easily.
Working in conjunction, the two seperate transporters can send a Phase Fighter through Sub-Space to a Phase Gate light-years away in a fraction of the time a standard Gate can do, and without the use of the massive Carriers that were formerly required. The result: A cheap and effective method of Inter-System Fighter travel.
