The Church of Xanthal, founded over one hundred years ago to support organized religion under the wing of the state, has served its purpose well during its life. Since its creation by the second Senate, almost ten thousand branches have opened across Xanthalian territory. However, the Xanthalian Triumvirate and Council agreed in conference today that the costs of the church outweighed its benefits and ordered the facilities closed. There is one hope for those religious organizations wishing to keep their place of worship, however. The Xanthalian government has agreed that if they can be paid for, individual church branches may be kept open privately. A monthly fee for use of property will be charged, and staffing must be worked out by the renters in that situation. The majority of churches are expected to be demolished or remodeled for practical use after closing at the end of the month.
