General Description: The Megalopolis Citystate of Omni Conglomerates is a massive, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.676 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.
Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed, motorists' locations are constantly tracked by intelligence and law enforcement agencies, convicted felons are forced into slavery for their crimes, and small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Omni Conglomerates's national animal is the sheep, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the almighty dollar.
The Megalopolis Citystate of Omni Conglomerates cannot be thought of in the normal terms of a nation. It is not a land defined by borders and large cities. It is instead a single city that controls a landmass the size of Greenland as its territory. The city contains the majority of the population of the nationstate. There are only a few small settlements outside of the city walls with none approaching a population of above twenty thousand.
Ethnic Groups: There are two distinct ethnic groups within the City. There are the Khadj, or traders, who were the original people of the city, and then there are the Naordjec, or men of the sea, who were once the citizens of a second city on the isle that was destroyed during a civil war. The Khadj make up roughly seventy-six percent of the population of the nationstate with the Naordjec making up the rest. It is fairly simple to identify a member of either of the two ethnic groups. The Khadj are shorter individuals and very slightly build. The average height of a Khadj male is 5'5". They generally have dark brown or black hair and fair skin. The Naordjec are tall and muscular. The average height of a Naordjec man is 6'. They usually have blonde or light brown hair and lightly tanned skin. The Naordjec make up the majority of those serving in the Conglomerates navy. The populace of the Conglomerated isle grow up speaking two languages. All speak English, the national language, and Khadj-Roum, the trade language. Khadj-Roum is the secret language of the people of the city. It is highly illegal to teach the language to anyone who is not born of City. Even a person who gains citizenship in the Omni Conglomerates may not be taught the language. The military also uses the language to ensure that they have not been infiltrates by spies from foreign nations.
The Military: The military of the Omni Conglomerates serves a dual role. They are there to police the population and to defend against foreign powers. There are roughly 140 million men and women, total, in the armed services of the Omni Conglomerates. The military is divided up into four separate commands, the Infantry Wing, the Armor Wing, the Air Wing, and the Naval Wing. The Infantry Wing is the largest branch of the military because it ecompasses all regular infantry, special forces infantry, and police specialist infantry. Next in size to the Infantry Wing is the Naval Wing which controls all military ships owned by the Conglomerated isle. All personel employed under the Naval Wing are simply refered to as marines. The Armored Wing is the third in size amougst the military groups in the City military. They have control over all of the vehicles used by the City military and work closely with the Infantry Wing. The Air Wing is the smallest and has very few actual planes. They are in charge of the maintenance and piloting of all fighter craft aboard carriers and they are in charge of the large helicopter fleet that has watch over the city. None of the branches has control over any aspect of the others' specialty. All of the groups however come under the jurisdiction and control of special officers called Field Generals. They are trained in each and every branch of the military and know the workings of each. In a battlefield situation, they have absolute control.
Geography and Geology: Geologically, the citystate of Omni Conglomerates is a facinating area. The city sits on a large island similar in size to Greenland and has a similar location in the northern hemisphere. The northern section of the island is actually within the Arctic circle. The island was formed from volcanic activity, and is extremely mountainous is its makeup. There are two regions of the isle that are not covered in mountainous land, the Kindjal Plains in the north and the Odesseron River floodplain in the south. The Kindjal Plains are mostly frozen tundra, but the Odesseron floodplain is temperate. There are only a few other areas of geological interest in the isle occupied by the City. The Malak Valley is a windswept valley to the east of the city that acts as a massive windtunnel. It has winds each day that reach excesses of 80kph. The last area of intrest is the Thayvar volcano. It is the only active volcano left on the isle.
People and Places: As far as places go, there are only a few actual settled areas outside of the main city. The Erebus Research Station is located in the north. It is home to a group of over 180 researchers and a small town with a population of 9,234. There are three large government naval facilities, but information on them has been restricted by the Corporate Trust Board Office of Information. The only other inhabited area of the isle is the Corporate Prison Colony located deep within the Odesseron mountain range. It has a current population of roughly18,000 prison laborers, but the population changes too rapidly to keep proper track of the population of the prison. For important people, there are several notable figures. The current Chief of City Military Police Forces is Commissioner Frederik Khalra. The most notable figure with the rank of Field Marshall is Field Marshall Charles Burg. He most recently commanded our troops in the military efforts in Omz. The High Board of Corporate Trusts is currently headed by the heads of PhilCass Arms, Nukes4U Uranium Mining and Refining, and Comstar Mercenary Enterprises, respectively.
