The Assingtonian Inquisition

Assington
07-08-2004, 14:07
There has been much controversy surrounding christians within Assington over the years. Countless terroists incidents, executions, deportings, bans and even a war. Even today violence continues. The general populace of Assington are a peaceful people that do not wish to battle eachother, but there are always a select few from each group that wish to cause trouble.

Since the end of the war, tensions between christian and atheist extremists factions has been rising. An increase in open acts of violence has been brought to the attention of the church. Not only are the extremists attacked, all christians alike suffer the wrath of these men. The government is occupied with matters deemed more important and has left action up to the prerogative of the church. And hence, the inquisition has been formed.
________

Archbishop Jason Kulstov sat within his highly elaborate office. He took a quick glance at his royal surroundings and smiled, the collection plate did serve him well. It was time to put it to a more important use now, the inquisition.

Construction of the headquarters had already begun. The government thought they were allowing this inquisition, but Jason had been planning it for some time now. Finally those of faith would have a defense against the atheist horde. They will have their vegence...

Greater Prussia and all members therein condemn the Inquisition. The herecies of the Romanist Inquisition are not to be repeated. We must seek as Christians to convert through the Grace of God instead of through torture and force. This is the work of the Devil, and Greater Prussia opposes any of these works done.

Greater Prussia would be willing to assist in the protection of Christians by the detachment of Imperial Guard units to their organization, and by sending missionaries to the land of Assington.

Go with God.

Conflict between two opposing groups is inherrent in any nation, to employ such a method is only a beginning step towards finding a defining solution, imprison every man, woman and child who so much as even blinks in an aggressive manner, arrest their families and anyone connected with them who fails to distance themselves from suspect individuals.

May your devotion lead you to a fate worse than Designation.

The Brotherhood of Nod hereby condemns this "inquisition". Not only are they a threat to the security, the integrity and the souvereignity of Assington, but they are also attempting to brainwash the Assingtonian citizens trough religion. These practises must cease immediately and we are willing to, if the Assingtonian government asks, lend a hand in the process.

President Calis and ASA CEO Carl sat within the dimly lit presidential office. Although the government had given the church permission to form an inquisition as a defensive force under certain rules, they knew better than to but their faith in the 'misguided'.

"Sir, I understand that you have called me here in regards to the newly formed inquisition?"

"That's correct. I have an ideal national use in mind for ASHVO."

Carl grinned as he began to catch on.

"You want ASHVO to keep an eye on this inquisition?"

"Indeed. They will be fully authorised to engage them if necessary, but I don't want them leading the inquisition to us. I'm happy for the church to defend itself, but we all know it will do more than that. The full details are within this report."

Carl picked up the report and nodded.

"Yes sir, this can be arranged easily."

Mark Kulstov stood within the almost complete inquisition HQ. To his delight, his father, Archbishop Jason Kulstov, had appointed him as the highest ranking holy warrior of the organisation. He would lead men into battle against those tainted by the touch of satan and he would cleanse the world of such filth.

The forces were being gathered as he stood there, the equipment being bought and mission objectives already being outlined. The inquisition would make it's mark, the mark of God's hand...

Fax Message to President Calis

President Calis, though Assington and the Golden Simatar have friendly relations, we ask you to destory your Inquisition. Have you not forgotten the many deaths of the Spanish Inquisition? Do you wish to repeat history? Religious Tolerance is common these days you know.
Our intellegence has just confirmed thier are around two dozen of our citizens in Assington for various reasons. Some are Christian some are Musliem, Hindu, Buddist, and atheist. The Golden Simatar did have it's own Inquisition about 600 years ago. It ran rampant and was responsible for the deaths of more than 4,700 people. I do not wish to read the news and find out hundreds of Assingtonians are dead. If you need help keeping it in check, we will be happy to help.

I appreciate your concern Mr Rice, but I can assure you things will not get out of hand. We have given the church a small liberty. We shall be placing strict regulations upon the activities of this inquisition and have counter measures ready in case the worst results in this. We cannot deny the right of the church to defend itself from extremist atheists, and we cannot provide the protection it needs at the moment. Again I thank you for your concern, but things are under control.

That is indeed good advice. It is for that very reason that we are placing sveral security measures to prevent such. The safety of all citizens and and friendly foreigners is always high on the list of priorities.

Carl stood within a large briefing room as he waited for those in attendance to settle. He had gone over the report several times and was confident in the Nightcrawler's new role within the nation. Vampire and human alike sat in the room, listening patiently as Carl explained the situation.

"Gentlemen, as you know the government has given the church some minor permissions in forming a defensive force for themselves. We all know they will attempt to get up to more than defending themselves, and so we are to make sure they keep in line. You will be authorised to use any means necessary if the situation calls for it. Some of you will be assigned to such tasks specifically, others may just be there at the time. You will find detailed reports in your quarters."

The first crew was finally assembled. Mark stood outside the Amethyst City Cathedral as a group of large, white robed men began to assemble in front of him. Although they only appeared to be rather mean looking priests, these men were armed with twin glocks and twin 'holy blades'. That was the only weapons the government would permit, but there would be plenty of time to find a way around that.

"Holy men, today is a day that shall forever be kept in our holy records. The day we become a force to reckon with in Assington. No longer shall heathen extremists bomb our churches, for we are armed and ready to defend our land from the minions of satan!"

Cheers erupted throughout the crowd as puzzled onlookers gave the christians strange looks. Unknown to the holy congregation, Agent Garm of the Nightcrawlers sat casually across the street on a park bench...

Official Presidential Statement

"It has come to my attention that many nations have voiced their support for the various sides of this inquisition situation within Assington. May I remind you all that this inquisition only exists because I allow it and it is under my jurisdiction. There will be no foreign support for such, that is final. This is an internal matter and does not require the intervention of other nations. Good day."

Archbishop Kulstov watched the President's address to the world with a smirk. He was not concerned with foreign aid, he could handle things himself. Calis may think he could handle the Inquisitors, but he would find out in due time that heretics could never stand against the might of holy wrath.

"Soon, it will begin..."

Beeps erupted throughout the monitoring station of Nightcrawler HQ. An encrypted foreign message had just been recieved by the Archbishop. It was not known who or where it was from, but that would not be difficult to discover.
________

Archbishop Kulstov quickly read of the foreign message. He didn't think much of this Cardinal DeVito and his all so devious communications. The truth was, he didn't want any foreign help, even if Calis allowed it.

Cardinal DeVito. Things are far more complex than you seem to be understanding. Christians are a very distinct minority in this nation and we simply do not have the man power to destroy the current government. Calis commands an army larger than every christian in the nation, and so guile must be used. I do not wish for your aid, and I'm sure the government doesn't appreciate your message. Good day.

Qui: Won't they ever just die?

Rave: Yes, they do, but they are like bugs. Once you kill them, there are two more in their place. Here are the requirements that seem to deem someone an inquizitioner.

1. You must hate Ravelyn.
2. You must try to kill her.
3. You must have a distorted idea of righteousness.
4. You won't leave Ravelyn alone for one second, even when she's sleeping.

Qui: O_o; Well they don't exactly like me either... but they don't seem to care.

Rave: I know, and your the worst one.

ANN Broadcast

The newly formed inquisition has been put to the test today in a real life situation against extremist atheist terroists. Early this Sunday morning whilst a church procession was underway in the Amethyst City cathedral, five men bearing semi automatic weapons entered the building, threatening to shoot the church goers.

Within seconds these men found crucifix hilted blades burried into their backs before a shot could be fired. The stunned christians looked on as the would-be terroists had their corpses dragged from the church building and disposed of.

Many have said the church is going too far with these so called inquisitors and did not hesitate to bring up atrocities of past inquisitions. A smaller part of the community has stated the church has the right to defend itself, even if it is with a bunch of murderous bastards hiding under the guise of rightousness.

President Calis made this comment earlier today.

"I am glad to see these inquisitors are doing their job and ridding our nation of violent terroists. As long as they remember their place, we shall have no problems."

Archbishop Jason Kulstov also commented.

"Our inquisitors just displayed to the nation what highly trained and efficient men they are. From now on, those of the christian faith may rest in safety."

Grand High Poobah Bran Miserere of The Disputed Territories of Corpulent Sorrow sends his personal support and condolences to Assington. However, he has no stance on the Inquisition, as Corpulent Sorrow is neither primarily Christian or primarily atheist, and does not much care for either school of thought. He believes that the major religion of his nation, TheRed Fish Religion (http://red.batcave.net) , is far superior to all other philosophies, and urges the citizens of Assington (and everywhere else for that matter) to study this religion, for the betterment of all mankind.
