By previous regimes, Freemasonry was to a large extent outlawed because of its presupposed positions of power. However, under the Royal House of Wasterin, Freemasonry did flourish, and is now flourishing under King Wasterin X after the fall of the two previous restrictive regimes. There are now an estimated 300 million Freemasons in Aerion, spread out among 12,000 lodges most taking positions of community leadership, or being highly placed in government. However, membership is very secretive, and anonymous at this point. Most Freemasons in Aerion do not openly state their affiliation, and do not wear rings etc. Even many of the lodges are located in secretive, out of the way places. The public is not well aware of the influence of Freemasonry, but those in high society are usually aware if one is a member or not. It was recently publically announced however,
"The Supreme Council of the A&A Scottish Rite of the Aerion Jurisdiction recently conferred upon His Royal Majesty, and several members of the Privy Council the honorary degree of Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33rd degree. This honor was applauded by Freemasons nationwide."
