Harlal Nehru, the son of Jawaharlal Nehru sat on his horse. A white one with brown stains on it. His eyes peered into the windy evening. He, was on a constant search for the next Dalai Lama, the 15th to be exact.
Harlal turned his head towards Benei who sat on a horse some five meters from him.
"Shall we continue? I think that it will be a sandstorm here soon.."
Benei nodded, "Then it is best that we hurry".

The two monks slowly made their way through the rocky wasteland, and Harlal had been right, just as they entered a small village a sandstorm erupted. Harlal got of his horse and Benei did the same thing. They knocked on a old wodden door wich lead into a mudd-stone building.
An old woman opened up.
"yes?" Harlal and Benei bows, "we are travellers and wishes to escape the sandstorm" The old woman smiles gently and lets the two men inside, and she took their horses inside her stable.
"I do not get visitors that often, my neighbour thinks Im dead.. stupid old man.. would you like something to eat?"
The two monks nodds, out of their sleaves they pull up a cup wrapped in cotton.
Moments later they are filled with soup. The old woman sits down infront of them, her face is marked by time and the house she lives in is dusty and not that well taken care of. "I have been alone since my husband died, and my son has left to be a monk.. just like the two of you.."

Harlal smiles, "to become a monk is a very good choise.. I must thank you for your soup.. what was your husbands name?"
The woman smiles back, "My name is Loiloi, I took it after I got married to my husband, it is his mothers name.. his name was Delil.. but now.. he's dead"

Harlal nodds. "I do not intend to be rude, but may we spend the night here? As it dosent seem as the storm will pass this night." Benei asks.
Loiloi laughs and takes his hand in hers and smiles, "ofcourse you can.. I just hope that you can bare with an old lady like me"
Both Harlal and Benei smiles, and soon they had all gone to bed. Escaping their reality into a dream world...

The people of China have no worries. Sino's in control now and forever. They have been given freedom, unlike under the previous communist regime, free to fly the flag of their autonomous region and worship in peace, but as for trying to end the Sinoese presence there, that's a different story.

"Permission to speak freely, sir." The adjutant awaited for his turn.

"Go on, son. My ears are always for listening." Maj. Gen. Lee (C.O. of the ARSCF* Tibetan Military Region) replied with interest.

"The High Lamas of the Potala began searching for a new Dalai Lama."

"This doesn't concern us. We are here to secure our territory and help with local developmetn projects. A repeat of last year's situation is unlikely, when the last [Dalai Lama] died, some corrupt monks tried on the eve of also, the CCP's collapse to secure their own power and independence. Those days are over."

"Sir, what if the new one chooses to rebel against us once more? That's my biggest concern."

"Soldier, Tibetans are slaves to their religion. We've prepared long for that day."

That morning when Harlal woke up, a small childat the age of five was crawling around on his chest, pulling a neckles that hung around his neck.
"That is mine!" the child yelled as he tried to get it of Harlals head.
Benei who had woken up, looked at the child with big eyes. "as..ask him"

Harlal picked up the child with his hands, smiling with all of his face. "It is yours, if you know my name"
The child pulled the neckles harder "Your name is Harlal, give it to me now!"
Harlal released the child from his gripp and gave the neckles to him.
"What is your name then"

The childs mother burst through the door and picked up the child "Im sorry about Leehtu, he dont act like this normaly"
Harlal smiled and nodded, "that is mabye because this is not an ordniary event... bring back the child tonight.."
The mother didnt know what to say, but she nodded.
Benei took Harlals arm in his hand and looked at him, "can it be...?"
Harlal looked back, "mabye.. lets prepare for tonight, to see it is him.."

At night

Leehtu was brought to the old womans house that night, in one of the back rooms Harlal and Benei stood waiting. The room was small and smelled strong of incense, some candle lights wich had been placed around the table threw shadows on the walls. It was not far to the roof and the floor was made out of dirt. In the middle was a stone-table. The two monks were dressed in red robes and yellow hats. They had been meditating all day long, to prepare for the nights events. As Leehty walked in, both of them bowed. Harlal gestured towards the table filled with various items. Two cups, two canes, two pair of glasses, two clocks, two pair of robes.
"Please, pick out what is yours Leehtu"
The child nodded and looked at the items for a very long time, then he began to feel them all. From the cups he took one with dark wood, instead of a lighter one. One pair of glasses.
For each item the child picked up Benei and Harlals faces was more and more supriced, facing the knowledge that they might have done an extrordinary found.

The last item Leehtu claimed as his was an old cane, he placed it beside all the other items wich he had put on the side of the table.
"those are mine!" he said proudly.

Harlal nodded, "yes.. yes.. ofcourse they are yours" he smiled. "Mother, you must come with me.." he waved at the mother and the two of them walked out of the room. While Benei played with Leehtu and his new items.
Harlal began to speak, "We believe that this is the reincarnation of the 14th Dalai Lama, he has chosen all the objects that belonged to the late Dalai Lama"
Leehtu's mother nodded, tears began to fall from her eyes, a mix of joy that once again Tibet had a leader, but she also knew that he would never again be her little Leehtu, the boy would grow up without her guidance (sp?) anymore.
"When wi--" Harlal put a finger over her mouth. "Now, we cannot stay in Tibet anymore.. and you cannot say a word to anyone about this. The Chinese goverment will not be happy when they find out this. If we leave tonight, we might be in India next week"
She just nodded, covering her face in her hands as she cried.
Harlal put his forhead against hers and then walked back to Leehtu.
"We shall leave tonight, you are to become the next Dalai Lama.. do you understand?"
The small boy who had giggled as he played with the cane and the robes with Benei stoped to smile and nodded, "I know" he replied.

Early that morning, before the sun had passed the horizon, Harlal and Benei had begun their final travell towards India, with the small child sitting infront of him. Harlal had been givven new hope.

The mother and the old woman stood for a long time looking at the two horses and its riders as they slowly made their way through the wild and stony landscape. Only they knew at this time who Leehtu realy was. The mother turned towards the old lady, still with tears in her eyes.
"I hope.. he will become a good Dalai Lama"
The old woman nodded, "Buddah will make sure of that"

Sinoese border troops, continue their monotonous task of securign the Chinese frontier. They have all been brainwashed into thinking that any piece of Chinese land, no matter how secure is still available to foreign aggression. Patrols by day, watching the sun set over the barbed wire by night. It's a job of boredom, but somebody has to do it.

The group closed up on the boarder station, Harlal climed down from the horse and aproached the chinese boarder troops. From a sadle back he pulled up some identification papers and gave them to the chinese troops.
Everything seemed to be in order so they were allowed to pass. Leehtu looked back at the boarder, for the first time in his life he was further away than the stony fields wich surrounded his former home.

For days they travelled in India, to finaly reach their destination.
The headquarters for the Tibetan Exile Goverment.
Since no one knew that they were comming, no one was there to greet them.
But as soon as the news was heard, it spread like a fire through out the tibetan society. The fiftenth Dalai Lama had been found. The boy went through a series of tests. Just to make sure that he was the one.

Message to the world from the Tibetan Exile Goverment:

This is a day of joy and peace, for today we announce that the reincarnation of the 14th Dalai Lama has been found. In time, he will be able to lead our goverment, the true goverment of Tibet.
We wish you all prosper and joy.

Yours:
Harlal nehru

Almost an entire regiment stood steely at attention. The situation was not good as seen by Maj. Gen. Liu.

"My ass will be on a platter after this!" The gloom of failure has detered his Prussianism. He had only said those words in his mind as he was a strong advocate of military discipline.

Yack, yack, yack. He droned on as if there were not enough yaks in Tibet, the Major General was utmost P.O.ed. The worst yet was the fact that he could issue only a revoking of their R&R passes. He had singled out those members responsible (to be caned), but as a disciplinarian, he thinks they should all be punished physically.

After some reviews of security footages, the Sinoese now have an idea of the new Dalai Lama's image, although he is still a child, he will soon be brainwashed by those now around him and consumed into the hatred of the Hans.
