Chellis

"...got to get ratings up! The latest polls show that only 22% of Chellians regularly watch television!" Said Vladmir Petrowsky, a gruff man in his fourties. The room was a brightly lit conference room, the walls barren, the floors wooden, and just one long table with a few pieces of paper cluttered on it.
Some twelve people sat in the room, mostly women, but about 4 men or so. "Well sir, it makes sense. Your average blue-collar would rather spend his off time with a rented book that gives hours and hours of entertainment, rather then buying a television and paying for electricity constantly. Not to mention all the new information about how tv hurts your attention span..." Said one of the women, with Vladmir giving off a large sigh.
"We got to do something, we're barely still in buisness. All I can say is, think of something new and exciting, or you will all lose your jobs, because we wont have the cash to pay your bills." Petrowsky said, as he left through the door. Obviously spooked, the others quickly followed, the room becoming desolete in seconds.

There had been a large advertising campaign for a few weeks, that gave almost no details on this new program, but hyped it considerably. The credits rolled on "Who's your daddy: a story of a man", and the television screen turned into a sky scene, clouds below and light blue above. As the camera began moving forward, rock music began playing. As the music reached its climax, 12 F-15C jets zoomed past the camera. As the exhaust from their engines cleared, The title of the show appeared in bolded letters, "Warfare".
The screen changed to the cockpit of one of the F-15C's, and then to the face of the pilot who controlled it. He had a very determined face, although partially shielded by his visor. With some concentration, one could tell that this was an algerian.
The screen switched again to the first camera, with nothing hindering the camera. The 12 F-15's flew in an arrow formation, as the camera began speeding up to get closer.
The screen now switched to another sky view, with nothing in sight. Quickly surpassing the view, however, were 12 Rafale's, with chellian designations. The view switched to the cockpit of one of the Rafales, where the reflection of the pilot could be seen in the window.
The radar lit up quickly with targets. The view went to the side of the pilot, so you could see his actions. He quickly activated his missiles."Beta squadren, enemy targets verified. Eagles. Rush in, take em out. The less of you that die the better." The message was heard through the television set, coming from the pilot.
The view switched back to the F-15 squadren, though the Rafales could be seen in the distance. The Eagles broke into three groups of four planes, and began afterburning to strike at the Rafales.
The view was back to the rafales. Half of them broke downward, through the clouds. The rest gained altitude. The screen quickly turned to what seemed to be two announcers. "Ladies and gentlemen, here we have the Algerian Eagle squadren and the Chellian Beta squadren going at it. The squadren who takes out the other squadren will win a beginning prize of 200,000 credits." Said the chubbier of the two, as the next announcer gave him a look.
"Lets give the people at home some info on this, as they probably are a bit confused. In warfare, there are three competition brackets. These first three episodes will show this, only having chellian or chellian-allied nations duking it out. The brackets are Aerial, tanker, and infantry.
The Aerial bracket is probably pretty obvious, especially with what you have seen. Two 12 aircraft squadrens of aircraft duke it out in an unbiased playing field in the air. They may use short or long range missiles, though long range missiles are considerably more costly, as they allow for much easier kills. They can buy chaff and flares, passive radar, etc, but each costs them credits. They can buy better planes too, for more cost again.
Credits are basically play money for warfare. A decent short range missile might be 10,000 credits. A cheap aircraft might be 10,000 credits too, while top of the line ones might cost up to 300,000. Basic missiles are free, but these are short range ones that can be outrun fairly easily. Everything that is bought extra costs credits, other then basic missiles, cannon ammo, fuel, etc. Also, if a jet is a 2 man jet, the squadrens are allowed to bring more of their own men in.
If you havnt figured out yet, these planes wont actually shoot each other down. No, while we have gone to lengths to make battle damage and whatnot appear realistic, the missiles wont actually blow up the planes, nor will the cannon shots, etc. Damage is chosen electronically, but very realistically, and when a plane is shot down it will seem as though it was shot down.
Now, the Tanker bracket. Much in the same way, the more expensive things are, the more credits they cost. However, it wouldnt be great fun to watch tanks gunning at each other from kilometers away, so the battle arenas are much closer. There are urban, and forest battle arenas, so close range fighting will be important. A tanker squadren will be 17 tanks with as many men as needed.
Infantry will have the same battlegrounds, except smaller. 12 men will be in an infantry squadren, and will use airsoft guns. However, the guns will be priced realistically, and infantry will recieve less starting credits than tanker or air, so they cant start with horribly strong weapons.
Anyways, enough of this talk, im sure you all want to see the action!" Concluded the second announcer, as the screen switched back to the two squadrens of aircraft, as they went at it with short range missiles and MG's firing. The Chellians ultimatly won, all 12 algerians being shot down with 5 chellian 'losses'. Afterwards, both teams were interviewed on the ground, and the 200,000 credits were awarded to the chellians.
OOC: This will, hopefully, evolve into a sort of international tournament in chellis. Any nation may send a team for each bracket. For air, try not to bring anything better than say F-5 Tigers, or an equivilent, unless its something newer but cheap(a cheaper russian new thing, etc), however, they wont get alot of extras. Tanks, same thing, nothing to modern, unless its a cheaper tank, and it wont have all the extras, like era, etc. For infantry, use whatever guns you want, but if they are top of the line guns, dont really give them too much stuff like scopes, etc. I dont want to get to technical as that will hurt the RP, I want this to be half competition, half character rp. I know I can trust everyone to RP fairly, and one last thing, please only use RL tech... it will just make it easier.
