Info on the Ticonderoga System
The Ticonderoga system was built to be a forward base for future operations against the Gregor Sector Alliance it also acted to secure the right flank of the WIckian Commonwealth. A bright white star dominated the center of the system casting a hyper limit of 34.8 light minutes. There were only two planetoids in the system, small and barren rocks, whose only worth came from their mineral deposits which were considerable. Each planetoid had considerable orbital development for ore processing. This system like the pair of moons in Epsilon Pegasi was initially developed by the Canella Mining Guild. Dozens of refineries were in orbit, gravimetric fields held vast fields of ore in neat regimented sections waiting for processing. Blocky freighters constantly traveled from the hyper limit and back transporting the refined Ore. As well as its purpose as a forward base the system was vital to the Commonwealth’s economy. But all was not peaceful here.
A week previous Task Force Covington returned from its expedition to Cronos home of the Vaku. The battle was hard fought and both sides suffered heavily, the WIckian Fleet that returned was not beaten but it was hurt . All of the capital ships attached to the fleet were damaged to some sort most of the screening units were relatively undamaged into comparison mostly because the energy weapons of the Vaku simply killed them.
The Fortress Ticonderoga was the largest fortress constructed by the WIckian Commonwealth and it lied in roughly between the two planetoids. It was truly an amazing site at the fortress’ center was a large sphere massing over 100 million ton. Itself carried no weapons instead there were twenty enclosed docks in which ships up to the size of a super dreadnaught could be constructed. Branched off of this sphere were long corridors dozens of them some as long as a thousand kilometers. Docking slips on these corridors embarked hundreds of ships, some were the wounded survivors of the Cronos Battle, some were other naval units in various states of retrofit or repair, hundreds of others were civilian or auxiliary units. Besides the slips, whole repair stations, refueling slips, LAC hangers and numerous other military and civilian structures were anchored. Around this chaotic structure was a single Ring at a dozen nodal point were located a Fortress of 50 million tons bustling with weaponry providing protect for the second largest fleet base in the entire Commonwealth. All together over 1500 kilometers of cubic space was occupied by the Ticonderoga fortress.
