Homelessness

OOC: Just a note to begin with, this doesn't take place in Temme, it's currently taking place in an undefined big city. If someone wants to take the city, then okay with me. Temme has no homeless problem, otherwise I would.

IC:

Homelessness. The threat had always been there, lurking, like a shadow. She'd tried to shake it off, but when the landlord came calling, and there was no money, it was no longer a shadow. She was to join the army of the homeless.

She clutched her few belongings in disbelief. It still had not sunk into her head that she did not have a place to sleep that night. Still, her key ring was empty (her car having been repossessed months ago), proof that she was, indeed, homeless.

E.T. (for that was the girl's name) tossed her key ring into a dumpster on her way off the property. With that action, giving up hope of ever finding a real home, she began the trek downtown.

OOC: How adverse would you be to this city being yours, except with people from Dregruk using it as a staging point for a massive conspiracy?

OOC: I can offer Wye, capital city of Weyr [[Neotokyo sort of place with 250million living in absolute anarchy ^-^ Prolly the only NS city where it's legal to drive your Abrams tank into a bank as long as you don't shoot anyone.]] Only catch is that it's magitech [modern times, but with magick thrown in] and has little things like elves, dwarves, and alchemists . . .

An idea of what Wye looks like:

OOC: It would be impossible, because there are no homeless people in Temme.

The fact is, I don't really like magic. Maybe if nothing else comes up.

((OOC:Well you could use the city of Neverwinter in Phalanix. Nice 100 million people with a homless rate at 5% at the moment. It's moslty in the south side of the city anyways. And in Neverwinter since there is no winters (hence the name) it's the olny known place were the homless live in Phalanix))

OOC: Hmm, do you mind if I set up an office to recruit people to become settlers?...I've got a large continet to settle and my primary source of immigrants has died...

E.T. walked downtown. Just as she didn't think she could walk another step, she found an alley. She spread out her only blanket on the ground, curled up, and went to sleep.

An van with speakers on the top and the words
Zethal Settlement Corporation
Out of the speakers blared the phrase..."Work, food, housing...all can be yours...come to the Klatchian Kitchen on Twelth and Vine...Free Food to the First 800 people daily..."

The truck passed on blaring it's signal through the poorer parts of town.

E.T. was too tired to really pay attention. She put one of her shirts over her head and tried to sleep.

A tall man strode through the alleys with precise steps, carefully avoiding the trash that littered the ground. Beneath his jacket, a military uniform with dozens of medals. He stopped at each homeless person, including E.T., in the alley, and made the same offer; "You look like you need a hand right about now. Come with me. I'll give you food, money, clothing and a job."

E.T. frowned.

I don't want charity, but I suppose I have no choice

"Okay, sure."

"Come with me then!" Said the man cheerfully, to the number of homeless who'd accepted his offer.

He led them through a complex system of alleys and sidestreets, down a sewer and into an underground warehouse, which was warm and well lit, with a full kitchen cooking chicken, beef, turkey and all other kinds of meat.

"Have a nice meal, and I'll talk to you afterwards!" He said, before striding through a door that clanged shut behind him.

E.T.'s stomach began to growl. She hadn't realized how hungry she was. "Could I have some of the food?"

A young, freshly shorned brother raced through the dim stone hallways of the Sect's enormous monastary. Panting slightly he reached the office of Father Xavier. Knocking quickly and bearly waiting for a Bene Gratis he rushed in. "Father Xavier we have just recieved information of some strange happenings involving the homeless in Neverwinter. They say that the homeless are being lured into traps after which they are not seen again. At least now in any vaguely human form." Father Xavier waited briefly before asking if the boy was done. He then drafted a message and sealed it. "Take this child and carry it to the Patris Magnus. Do not give this to anyone else. If I am right this event is one that has deep roots and deeper consquences. If we are going to save these people we have to tread carefully and act cleverly." As the boy ran off Father Xavier could only sigh and hope he was right in betraying his faith.
