Info: Only new nations can enter the BoF, which gives them a big boost to their World Cup ranking. One puppet per nation. 32 nation cap on Under 21. By WCC legislation, all World Cups must have two co-hosts. Hosts decide the number of teams in the Cup. New nations to the Cup cannot make co-host bids or enter puppets; new nations may also be interested to know that scoring generally takes place via spreadsheets (with the exception of a few using Rejistania's Java program) based on the KPB rankings or points.

AFAIK, there is no official rule that says this.

Commerce Heights is entering World Cup 17.
I'm not sure about what teams are in WC16, so I'll enter HypercapitaliZm as my puppet if it isn't in WC16, otherwise, Lemmistana. Whichever puppet it is, it will also enter the BoF (not sure if HCZ is still eligible or not...). I don't have time to check now, so it'd be nice if someone else could tell me.

BoF = Baptism of Fire, the tournament for new teams to the World Cup that normally takes place right before the cup.

As for your U21 question, I'll let TnUI answer that since he runs the thing.

What are the meanings of the different styles in the U21 cup?

Okay. There are five styles. AOD, DEF, NOR, ATT and AOA.

All Out Defence

It does exactly what it says on the tin. You play at least a 10 man defence and hardly ever attack. Results usual end up as scoreless draws, sometimes the odd goal is scored.

Defensive

You concentrate a little more on defence, but your attack suffers. Expect low scoring matches.

Normal

Default.

Attacking

You concentrate a little more on attack, but your defence suffers. Expect high scoring matches.

All Out Attack

It does exactly what it says on the tin. You play with at least 10 men, sometimes 11 in the opponents half. Results almost always add up to double figures.

Of course your rank influences the style as well. Hope that explains it well, if it doesn't tell me. Or even better come on IRC (irc://esper.net/sport).

Actually, with the recent adoption of the Spaamanian World Cup schedule, which gives 48 days for each tournament, World Cup 17 qualifying is scheduled to start somewhere around September 13.

As I pointed out earlier, it's not a law (or rule http://terranordalis.thirdgeek.com/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif), it's part of the description of the Host Selection Committee (which doesn't pick the WC hosts).

Well, CH, Snub Nose 38 did say somewhere that ALL WCC-sanctioned tournaments (CoH, BoF, WC) with the exception of the under21 cup were to be cohosted.

Info: Only new nations can enter the BoF, which gives them a big boost to their World Cup ranking. One puppet per nation. 32 nation cap on Under 21. By WCC legislation, all World Cups must have two co-hosts. Hosts decide the number of teams in the Cup. New nations to the Cup cannot make co-host bids or enter puppets; new nations may also be interested to know that scoring generally takes place via spreadsheets (with the exception of a few using Rejistania's Java program) based on the KPB rankings or points.

This may well be my last post on Nationstates. Not sure. Be that as it may -

LE, would you, could you, please, stop behaving like a petulant child? It has become very annoying. When Runaway Moose (who, aptly, ran away to school to pursue an MFA) and I were on the fence about hosting/not hosting your behavior (or "behaviour" if you're east of the Atlantic) was instrumental in helping us decide not to. Now, you didn't get your way again, so you're demanding recounts and vote counts and in general being a whiny little kid. You'll spoil WC17 before it even starts. A couple of folks have given you good advice (above) that basically reads "Shut up before you spoil your chances for WC18 and on" and "Take it gracefully, be helpful and add to the fun, and you'll probably get to host soon".

Take a lesson from TBF - who used to whine about not getting to host, but doesn't anymore.

(Somebody notice that, please. TBF is behaving very maturely, rationally - in fact, I think he's an imposter ;))

Anyway LE - water under the bridge, water over the dam, buck up, grin and bear it, stiff upper lip, and all that crap. As a very wise professor of mine used to say "The past is prologue" - meaning that what's done is done, let it go and move on.

Finally, for everybody - should this be my "swan song" (hums something swan-songish) - I've really enjoyed playing with y'all (I'm not southern, but that's the only pronoun that seems to fit). We've had our ups and ups (no downs - we don't need no stinking downs) and it's been fun.

16 is my 11th cup too, and I got passed up for hosting. You just have to move on, it's not the end of the world, you'll have another chance.
