Education, Healthcare or Policing/Military?

The Democratic Republic of Carsony (DRC) is keen to understand the nations of NationStates by asking which sector they have as a number one priority; education, healthcare or policing/military?

The DRC feels that education is the most deserved of government funds, as it helps to determine the future of our nation. In particular, the government has fund a state company called the Department of Aesthetic Arts and Media (DAAM), which helps fund all art-related schooling. The company also acts as a producer for small, independent films.

The DRC is planning on proposing the inclusion of DAAM to the UN. However, this is another matter entirely. Opinions on this proposal can be brought to our governing offices via telegram

Military/Police

This is for IC purposes only. Being that my nation is an evil/phycotic (i forget which) nation, I must keep my citizens under control. In doing so, I realize that nations may not like myself or any alliances that I am in (Arda, Metus). I must keep up with my military standings. With all of the money that my economy must make, little room is left for education. Also, if my citizens do become smart, then they will realize that I am a controlling leader. Riots may break out. Sure, my police force should be able to handle this, but why take the risk?

We feel that the most important focus is defense, followed by education. As a libertarian state we feel that the primary duty of the state is to provide for the common defense. Once that has been secured the state should then focus on giving all of it's citizens the opportunity to succeed - whether they take that opportunity is up to them. Thus as a secondary priority we provide all of our citizens with a free education for as long as they desire. This is done by paying for the school (not housing, food, etc - just classes and books) of choice. This keeps the system competitive and advancing and allows people to decide their own direction in education.

Past that the government provides some law enforcement services and suppliments it's own income by investing in businesses which does count as 'corporate welfare' of a sort. Other than this the government pays for nothing - no welfare, healthcare, social equality, administration, public transport, or environmental spending. That is all the responsibility of the citizens themselves. Could be why we have a huge insurance industry.

Law enforcement and national defense are Nianacio's two primary budgetary concerns. We generally consider national government to be responsible for protecting the rights of the individual, and little if anything more. We have no government-funded schools, healthcare, social welfare, et cetera, although the national government does to some extent preserve the environment to ensure it does not become so damaged as to be a threat to the public health.

Education In my country comes from the training the men get then from schools it isnt the best after all public, private schools arent the way you got to force them to learn and build the army that is more than books but fights in instinct and what is right after all the schools only show ignorance of the world and what it truely isnt out there

Education is the stated primary concern of Biotopia.

A real education generates life time students who are well-rounded, sceptical, creative and engaged. A nation that invests in an education is one that invests in the future. Citizens who are raised by such an education system foster a dynamic and buoyant economy, a peace-loving, creative and accepting culture as well as reinforcing the foundations of democracy and good government.

Biotopia’s other stated priorities are social equality and the environment.

Defense is the ultimate priority, with Education a second and Healthcare last. (Religion getting no funding at all and being taxed, but that's not an option to list.)

Without Defense, your country could be overwhelmed by foreign invaders. And we've turned out just fine- 18th out of 30th for smartest citizens and with enough military might to repel any invasion by a similar-sized enemy.

The Economy is my priority, a large some of which is for defense. Education is next on the list though...

A solid education leads to high tech military, more advanced policing systems, better education, and better ways to produce things. No matter what you want for the future of your country education should be the main priority.

While education is key, it requires resources, so you can't overlook the need to bring in some cash flow to pay those teachers with.

It is also important to realize that the police force and military cannot be neglected either, after all need to keep the kids from building nuclear weapons or such, after all nuclear physics should be taught in 5th grade at the latest. The military is important to keep those war mongers away from your technology and teachers.

As far as education, a good education system should also ensure that children learn multiple languages through their life, this is good for building a spy force as well as increasing their overall IQ.
