Five years later...

Fyreheart

Prime Minister Hessinger walked quickly down the hall. He was already 10 minutes late for the press conference, and he was normally almost obsessively punctual, hence his slight twitching. This was the day that The Republic of Fyreheart would once again be seen as the strong, noble nation that it once had been. This was the day that had been written in the prophecies. As he came to the large double doors, he waved the attendants aside, and opened them himself. He disliked the royal treatment, and was quite content doing things for himself. He walked up to the podium and took the microphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished dignitaries, visiting ambassadors, and members of the press, welcome. I apologize for my lateness, but as we all know, the demands of rebuilding a nation are quite plentiful. Let's get started shall we?"

Everyone took their seats, and flashes started going off as reporters scrambled to get a piece of history.

"Today, friends, is a glorious day for the nation of Fyreheart. Five years ago today, our battle for freedom from Arda and the tyrannical rule of Nathan Hurst was won. His government was ousted and his evil alliance with Arda was terminated. With much struggle, and many deaths of the brave and valiant, this struggle was won. But that is not the only reason for this announcement today.

Today, my fellow Fyreheartians, we have seen major developments in our nations fiscal report. Unemployment has returned to levels they were at before Hurst took power. Poverty is down 27% from this time last year, and our experts predict that it will decrease at least another 16% before this year is over. The United Nations has recently increased our economy rating to 'Frightening' once again as well. Although many of you are not seeing this increase in economic forecasts because of the increased taxes, I can promise you that they will go down, and that you will start seeing results within the next two years. The government of Fyreheart is making extraordinary strides in repairing this nation, and we will continue to do so.

Let us see some more improvements that have happened in the last five years. Our social welfare programs have been reinstated, and two-year limits to them have been added. This once again provides Fyreheartians with compassion with a bit of motivation as well. Our police officers, paramedics, and firefighters are once again at numbers that can support the current demand for them. The cost of higher education dropped last year for the first time since this administration took charge.

These are only a portion of what has happened since the current government took charge in Fyreheart, and we have a solid plan for the future. When I took charge with the unanimous vote from the ruling council five years ago, I made promises to you that I would improve the situation, and we have. Now, it is time to improve on the improvements. The elimination of thousands of outdated pieces of equipment in our military has saved us hundreds of thousands of athames in maintenance costs. The consolidation of government duties had eliminated spending on over 400 government positions, without laying off a soul. And the ever approaching military clearance of our outdated aircraft will inject a predicted 50 billion athames into our economy.

Because of this economic growth, I am going to provide you with some immediate results. Starting three months from this day, the Fyreheartian tax rate will be cut from 18% down to 15% across the board. You all deserve this reward for your hard work, your perseverance, your faith, and your patience.

Fyreheart is growing, faster than we ever thought possible. And the next step we have decided to embark on is the modernization of our military forces. As I mentioned, the military clearance will clear us of old outdated equipment, but it must be replaced. Effective immediately, the Fyreheartian Department of Defense has entered into a contract with Capsule Corporation to develop new and better ways for us to provide for our defense. Capsule Corporation is going to not only modernize our military, but modernize our basic transportation as well. With their technology, we can make the cost of vehicles cheaper, have them use less fuel, and reduce pollution levels. There are also many other benefits I could list, but time grows short, and I have much to do. I'm afraid there will be no questions, but I will surely provide a venue for them in the future.

Smile, and express joy! Fyreheart is alive again! Good day Fyreheartians, and may the gods bless you all!"

A document is placed on the desk of the Great Chairman. He squints, then removes his glasses from a small leather case and puts them on.
After a minute or so he places the document back on his desk.

Very interesting. Interesting indeed...

He turns to the Foreign Minister.

Now, about that meeting...

"Interesting..."

"But how so?"

"Shut up..."
