The Nationstates Interregional League had landed on Earth! Last night at around 11:05 PM several planes landed at Dulles International Airport, USA. The sixteen teams were then sent on to sixteen different planes to take them to their first destinations:

The Belmore Family Reserves - USA (didn't really need a plane)
Jerusalem United - Egypt
Audioslavia XI - Italy
West Pacific Nationals - Australia
Squornshelous Pschychoes - Mexico
Halfassed Heros - Argentina
Dinamo Maserrat - Ukraine
Bedistan Stars - France
Tothampton FC - Saudi Arabia
AFC Westleigh - Holland
Racculli Ravens - Malta
Pottersk Wanderers - Paraguay
Graham City FC - England
Macrodisiac Masters - Nigeria
Hersfold NFL - Spain
Brotherhood NST - Turkey

Members of the Pottersk and Macrodisiac teams have fallen ill, probably due to the poorness of the airline food, and it will be decided after the first match whether or not to send them home, and thus dismiss them from the league. Anyway, once they arrived at their respective destinations, there were about six hours sleep for everybody before getting up for some training for the big matches. The games have been played, and the results have been collated and verified. So here are the first results for the NIL's trip to Earth:

Al Ittihad 2-1 Tothampton FC
Birkirkara 0-0 Racculli Ravens
CF Monterrey 0-2 Squornshelous Pschychoes
Enugu Rangers 1-1 Macrodisiac Masters
FC Nantes 0-1 Bedistan Stars
Los Angeles Galaxy 1-3 The Belmore Family Reserves
Middlesbrough 0-0 Graham City FC
Olimpia 0-1 Pottersk Wanderers
PSV Eindhoven 0-1 AFC Westleigh
Reggina 0-2 Audioslavia XI
River Plate 2-0 Halfassed Heros
Shakhtar Donetsk 1-3 Dinamo Maserrat
Trabzonspor 0-1 Brotherhood NST
Villareal CF 1-2 Hersfold NFL
Wollongong Wolves 1-0 West Pacific Nationals
Zamalek 3-1 Jerusalem United

The teams leave for their second destinations later today. But for now, it's over to you. I want you to write your match reports, manager reactions, news from your homeland, anything relevant to the results. It makes it a lot more interesting if we get lots of different opinions up, especially when the league starts for real, and we have teams writing conflicting match reports. Ha ha, what fun!

If you flopped really badly in these games, there's still time to change your style of play and aggressiveness for the next games. Just make sure to send me a telegram outlining the changes before the next set of matches (tomorrow) and I will implement them. I am only offering this until the end of the World Tour. After that, no changes can be made, so take the initiative now.

There was some concern when the Dinamo team landed in Donetsk over the health of captain Ludovic Ominostaze, after a clumsy air hostess had dropped a glass on his hand. He required ten stitches, and manager Slobodan Gresko announced that he was unfit to play. However, fellow midfielder Basko Ferevarco was fit to stand in his place and captain the team, and he proved his ability by leading the team to a 3-1 victory over a seemingly cautious Donetsk side. From the first whistle to the last, Dinamo dominated in all areas of the field, and in the end the scoreline showed this. However there was a point when this looked unlikely.

The first half had been generally uneventful, a low shot from Dinamo's Rodion Anastaze rebounding off the post the only real talking point. The game was turned on its head when a weaving run from Donetsk's Olexi Belik ended in a sensational goal from 25 yards ten minutes after the restart- an unstoppable shot into the top left hand corner. Shaktar Donetsk 1-0 Dinamo Maserrat, against the run of play.

For a time, it looked as if Dinamo were not going to get an equalising goal. The Ukrainians decided to sit on their goal, and frustrate the Maserratians in defence. It was only after a mix up from the two centre backs after 69 minutes that Ferevarco was able to blast the ball into the back of the net from ten yards. It was not long before the Dinamo supporters had more to cheer about - a sweeping cross from Isha Harastonitzin connecting with the head of Oliy Jarenko and leaving the Donetsk keeper stranded. Two goals in eight minutes, and Dinamo had turned it around. This would have been enough to satisfy the Dinamo supporters, Shakhtar Donetsk being in next season's Champions League. However a goal in extra time from Qostaze Ubuloy made the score 3-1, and gave the travelling fans something to smile about.

From this performance against a team of a high calibre, Dinamo Maserrat could be real contenders for the title next season, and with Ominostaze expected to recover in time for the start of the season, things could look even better.

Final score:
Shakhtar Donetsk 1-3 Dinamo Maserrat
(Belik 55; Ferevarco 69, Jarenko 77, Ubuloy 90)

TBF take on American giants

Last night it was a true Commie Vs Capitalist battle as The Belmore Family Reserves took on the American Giants of Los Angeles Galaxy.

And it was the Los Angeles Galaxy who began the match with a flare. Only 5 minutes into the match when Carlos Ruiz collected the ball, ran past two defenders and chipped the goalie to give the Galaxy an unexpected lead.

But the Belmorians battled back well and were unlucky not to equalise when Jack Pini's flying shot skimmed the cross bar and flew narrowly over. But on the 42nd minute we got the equaliser we deserved when Hugh Bradburry blasted the ball into the top right hand corner after a great corner delivery from Pini.

After the break the Los Angeles Galaxy took on Jones for Torres which boosted their attack. And within 30 seconds of the kick off they were threatening The Belmorians when Jones smacked his shot of the post. But this did not hinder the Belmorians who, after some classey passing, got the ball to Cuthburt who placed his shot low and into the corner to give the Belmorias the lead.

But the LA Galaxy did not give up. Some great runs from Saragosa and Ruiz deserved a goal, but luck was not on their side. However the win was sealed when Bradburry tip-toed past the defence and blasted the ball into the back of the net to finalise the score at 3-1.

Manager Brett Reynolds, in a press confrence after the game:

"I believe the team did very well today, for their debut in the NIL World Tour. They scored two goals to Villareal's one, which I know they could have improved on, but this was a good warm-up game to get rid of the let lag. They played a nice, clean game with no cards, and for that I am proud of them. I believe I can hope to expect the same from them in their next match. I'm sorry, what was that question? Ah, no, we have not yet been told who we are playing tommorrow. Yes, we do realize this could create some strategic problems, but I feel the team is professional enough to deal with it. After all, we did not have much warning between rounds in The North Pacific Tournament, but we came in second, didn't we? Well, yes, I..."

After their disappointing 1-1 draw with the Enugu Rangers, it was decided that the Macrodisiac Masters were too ill to continue the tournament. They have been sent home, and are to be replaced by a team from the nation of Vilita. The Pottersk Wanderers have been deemed healthy after their good performance against Paraguayan champions Olimpia.

Anyway, here are the fixtures for tomorrow, just so that you know in advance:

Al Ittihad vs. Jerusalem United
Birkirkara vs. Bedistan Stars
CF Monterrey vs. Dinamo Maserrat
Enugu Rangers vs. Halfassed Heros
FC Nantes vs. Graham City FC
Los Angeles Galaxy vs. AFC Westleigh
Middlesbrough vs. Audioslavia XI
Olimpia vs. West Pacific Nationals
PSV Eindhoven vs. Tothampton FC
Reggina vs. Vilita
River Plate vs. Brotherhood NST
Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Racculli Ravens
Trabzonspor vs. Hersfold NFL
Villareal CF vs. Pottersk Wanderers
Wollongong Wolves vs. The Belmore Family Reserves
Zamalek vs. Squornshelous

Here are some interesting facts and hints to help you in your games:
1) Middlesbrough are the masters of the 0-0 draw - they like to sit tight at the back, and aren't very adventurous up front...
2) River Plate are about as aggressive as you can get. Could this be used to your advantage?
3) Zamalek are technically superb and briliant up front. Perhaps it would be good to try and absorb the pressure...
4) Al Ittihad have a wealth of talent in their team - shame that most of their players are over the age of 35...

Oh, by the way, I thought it would be good to have a sort of competition thing going on. Let's say that whichever set of teams wins the most games (Earth or Nationstates) gets the NIL World Series Trophy. Might as well get some silverware involved...

Zamalek win Egypt battle

In it's first NIL world series game, Zamalek beat Jerusalem United 3-1 in Egypt. The home team with it's hardcore supporters proved the decisive winner and was not truly troubled. Jerusalem team members felt the pitch was more like a desert than a well maintained grassy playing surface. The local Jewish community turned out for the day as well as some Christian Jeruselem expatriates.

Jerusalem United did not have it's world cup or U-21 players available for this game as they were still coming home for their tournaments.

Pschychoes Dismantle CF Monterrey

The Squornshelous Pschychoes defeated CF Monterrey in their first tournament match 2-0. Both goals were scored by 18 year old world cup hopeful Jeremy Harris. The first came in the 21st minute, when Harris recieved the ball on a long lob from midfield. He shook his man and charged into the box, firing from 14 yards out. The shot went across the keeper into the top left corner. All the goalie, caught leaning the wrong way, could do was watch. The second came early in the second half on a corner kick. The nball sailed in high, and went off the keeper's fist. However, it bounced to Midfielder Yannic Arliss, who fired, form just outside the box. The shot was blocked, but Harris' head found the rebound and put it into the back of the net.

"I feel like I've played a great game. I see this tournament as a way to be noticed for the world cup team," said Harris after the match.

EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS - AFC Westleigh-Krytenia's first game of the NIL World Tour was a good one in the Phillips Stadium, Eindhoven, as Dutch side PSV were edged out by one goal to nil. This despite the side being short of four players still on international duty back home in Krytenia.

The stadium was awash with orange, Westleigh having taken their "Citrus Army" of over 5,000 fans with them. Such a sight endeared them to their hosts, and between Amsterdam and Eindhoven the AFC support had trebled.

The game kicked off to a carnival atmosphere: they love their football in the Netherlands. Both sides came out to attack, and the first chance fell to PSV's Jan Venegoor of Hesselink, who forced a great save out of Tony Moreno. Eighteen year old Swiss midfielder Johann Vonlathen also came close in the opening exchanges, flashing a shot across the face of goal on 16 minutes.

Buoyed by their new-found support though, Westleigh fought back, and Stephen Xousa started to command the midfield. It was a Xousa pass that saw Ashley Moreaux beat the defensive line, but couldn't get it under control and popped it well over the bar.

The big flashpoint of the game occured two minutes before half-time. Norman Oundle and Edson clashed in the box, and Edson went down theatrically, earning a penalty for PSV. Mark Van Bommel took it, and Moreno made a magnificent save to push it round the post.

The second half started at lightning pace - too lightning for Kevin Hofland, off clutching his hamstring. It was a tactical substitution, however, that provided the only goal of the game. Phil Neasden, on for Durand, got stuck in straight away. He played a quick one-two with Oliver Svensson before rounding Waterreus and sliding home. He was mobbed at the corner flag by his adopted fans.

Westleigh shut up shop after that, with a long range Vennegoor strike fizzing wide five minutes from time, but the Krytenian side held on for the victory.

A jubilant Westleigh side are off to the USA for their next game, MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy. Will it be Sweet Dreams My LAX?

'slave XI play italian side

An Audioslavia XI team, made up of exciting young division one players and some ex warhorses, put on a fine show against the italian Seria A strugglers. The 'slaves took the lead on twenty minutes when Rab Lanark put an expert lob over the goalkeeper after Jermaine Rhassetti had put him through. Lanark himself set up number two for Jack Megan to volley home on the hour mark.

The match itself was enjoyable to watch, with both sides playing relaxed football.

The final round of matches take place tomorrow, and then we will find out who wins the NIL World Series Trophy. In case you were wondering, for the Earth to win the trophy, they will need to win at least 12 of the remaining 16 games. Hmmm, mission impossible, perhaps...? Anyway, here are the fixtures for tomorrow.

Birkirkara vs. Dinamo Maserrat
CF Monterrey vs. Halfasses Heros

LOS ANGELES, USA - AFC Westleigh-Krytenia wowed a packed house of 27,000 at the Home Depot Center, running out comfortable four-two winners. Westleigh were brimming with confidence after scoring maximum points for the NationStates sides in Holland, and further buoyed by the return of their international stars.

Westleigh, in their navy change strip, started furiously, and took the lead in only the seventh minute. Cecil Poldov played a quick one-two with Xousa, and though Dan Popik managed to parry his shot, Ashley Moreaux was there to pounce on the rebound and open the scoring.

Things got worse for Galaxy ten minutes later. This time Stephen Xousa split open the defence, and Eddie Niewszicki, fresh from warming the Krytenian bench at the Cup of Harmony, leapt and nodded into the bottom corner.

By the 33rd minute, Westleigh were in cruise control. Poldov and Xousa again exchanged passes, before Xousa cracks a sweet shot into the top corner. Celebrations were short however, as Galaxy took quick advantage. An Andy Herzog shot forced Moreno into a save, and from the resulting corner Hong Myung-Bo headed in.

Westleigh manager Wes Keller saw fit to rest three of his internationals for the second half, but the subs were soon in on the action. On 57 minutes, Oliver Svensson got behind the defence, and slipped the ball into the path of Moreaux, who was left with the simplest of finishes.

In injury time, sub Cobi Jones slipped in behind the Westleigh offside trap to gain a consolation, but it was too little, too late. The Oranges face Al-Ittihad in their final game looking to take home a 3-0-0 record.

United fight back for first points in NIL

Jerusalem United got it's first points in the NIL World Series after a 2-2 draw with Al Ittihad. Al Ittihad with it's team of over 35 superstars stunned United to lead 2-0 in the first half after their experienced strikers overpowered the young Jerusalem defenders time and time.

In the second half, the United midfield took over and stopped Al Ittihad supply to the forwards. David Becks scored to improve the score 2-1 in the 50th minute and Mimi Goldstein headed home a powerful header to level at 2-2 in the dying minutes.

EARTH - The nation's national team racks up another victory in the NIL World Tour against Trabzonspor. This victory has helped to encourage the team for their next match, says manager Reynolds. "After their first match with Villareal, I think they were a little dissapointed about the goal they let through. The goalkeeper, Jeff Rodgers, thought it was a stupid mistake on his part, and took quite some time getting convinced otherwise."

Trabzonspor's team was quickly broken apart by Striker Paul Harris, who scored the team's first goal in twelve minutes. There was little action for the rest of the first half, but ten minutes after the whistle for the second half blew, Defender Chin Yang was shown the yellow card for an intentional handball. As the end of the game approached, Trabzonspar became more desperate to win the game, culminating in a violent tackle made on Striker Dan Williams in the penalty area. The offending defender (?) was shown the yellow card, and Substitute Anthony Garcia made the penalty shot, scoring the second, and last, goal of the game.

Manager Reynolds feels the team is ready for their final match on Earth, against Argentinean Team River Plate. "The team's spirits are high, and we feel we can do well against this team. They may be the best in their country, but we are the best in ours. We look forward to an interesting match." This match will be shown live on HSN (Hersfold Sports Network) at 2:00 PM NCT, and again at 6:00 PM NCT tommorrow.

If there was ever proof that technological advancement isn't always a good thing, this is it. In the Stadio Technologico, home to Mexican team CF Monterrey, the vastly superior computerised television screens and electronic hot dog stands meant nothing, as Dinamo ran out 1-0 winners over the home side. It was once again a last minute goal from Qostaze Ubuloy that gave the team from Maserrat the spoils. Other than this piece of brilliance the game was pretty ordinary, with chances few and far between for both sides. However the home side had a lot more support, mostly from robot supporters, and this gave them the slight edge. They were unfortunate not to take the lead after 1 minute, when a breakdown in communication between goalkeeper Gorskin and defender Borosin allowed the Mexican team's lethal striker to shoot at goal. Luckily it was blasted over the crossbar.

Gresko was pleased with his team's performance, but said that he realised there were a few problems in defence, and that these would need to be eradicated to beat the team's next opponents, Birkirkara.

Here are the final set of results for the world tour.

Al Ittihad 0-0 AFC Westleigh
Birkirkara 0-0 Dinamo Maserrat
CF Monterrey 1-0 Halfassed Heros
Enugu Rangers 1-3 Pottersk Wanderers
FC Nantes 1-2 Squornshelous Pschychoes
Los Angeles Galaxy 0-1 Audioslavia XI
Middlesbrough 1-1 The Belmore Family Reserves
Olimpia 0-1 Racculli Ravens
PSV Eindhoven 2-1 Vilita Travel Cats
Reggina 2-1 Brotherhood NST
River Plate 0-1 Hersfold NFL
Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Jerusalem United
Trabzonspor 1-1 West Pacific Nationals
Villareal CF 1-0 Tothampton FC
Wollongong Wolves 0-0 Graham City FC
Zamalek 1-1 Bedistan Stars

What these results mena is that Nationstates wins the World Tour Trophy by 29.5 points to 18.5, a resounding victory indeed. However now things start to get serious, as on Wednesday the league begins for real (the first fixtures will be out on Tuesday). Games will be played twice weekly (Wednesday and Saturday) and the table will be displayed every Sunday. Defeats now cost points, not just pride, so if you didn't do well in the tour, you need to be seriously worried. How you did here is a good indication fo how you will do in the league, and teams that are used to doing well may find things a bit more difficult now, due to the new system of goalscoring. You have been warned!Just so you know, the reason it seemed that nobody got any cards is because I didn't tell you if they did. From now on I will send a personalised match report to each team as a telegram, telling you the number of cards picked up and the time goals were scored. You can work out who scored the goals, and any other details you want yourselves. It all begins now, and so it is time to start preparing mentally. Anybody here do yoga...?

JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA - AFC Westleigh completed their campaign in the Saudi desert with a goalless draw with A-Ittihad. The match was a dour one, with few chances created and both midfields snuffing each other out.

The more exciting news was back home, where the Tangerines introduced their new signing. John Lewis was signed as a free agent in a deal worth over €K2m a year (working out as approx £700k/$1m). The Spurland international thus becomes the first foreign player in the Krytenian Elite League.

Lewis joins the club in time for their first NIL game, however will return home for international matches. Manager Wes Keller said: "John will add fire to our forward movement and we are looking forward to having him in the side."

The Ta 'Qali Stadium in Malta was packed with thousands of supporters expecting a 0-0 draw. They were not disappointed as the two sides spent most of the match sizing each other up. The defensive nature of both teams resulted in a match with few chances, and indeed many of the elderly supporters died of boredom. The main talking point of the evening had nothing to dow tih the match, as one of the Birkirkara supporters climbed atop a floodlight and refused to come down until the match was abandoned. Nevertheless, much to the distress of many, the game continued, and in the end the rogue supporter fell off and broke his right arm and both his legs. He is still recovering in hospital.

Manager of Dinamo Maserrat, Slobodan Gresko, was not too pleased with the performance. 'I expect a lot more of my players, and frankly I was disappointed with the way we played this evening. The main problem I have is the narrow-minded play we seem to have adopted. This needs to be sorted out before our first match on Wednesday if we are to succeed this season. What I am pleased about is the maturity of my players not to react to the aggressiveness of the team.' Indeed, in their three games, Birkirkara picked up nine yellow cards and three reds, outlining the dangers of a highly aggressive team.

Despite the lacklustre performance, Dinamo has picked up seven points out of a possible nine for the tour, and is currently unbeaten. There are high hopes for the team in this competition, and the weight of expectation is on their shoulders. Let us hope that they can rise to the pressure.
