CONTEST

SEEKING PLAYER FOR PRE-FORMED NATION IN ACTIVE POLITICAL REGION

We've recently lost the player of an important nation in our region, and we're holding a contest to fill the spot. We're seeking hard-nosed players who are up for the challenge of playing in a politically-complex and in-depth region. Not for the faint of heart!

ABOUT US:
New Europe is a smaller region, and our game-world is set in an alternate Europe in 1910. William the Conqueror, known to us as William the Bastard, was killed at Hastings, setting Europe off on a dramatically different course. United Spain fell sometime last century to Portuguese adventurers and Gibralterian colonists. Communists in Wertanzen rule over a shattered Anatolia, and France was never united under a single crown.

Our military system is based on the board game Diplomacy, but don't think it's all war, all the time. We prefer underhanded tactics, international intrigue, and a quiet undermining of someone's regime to the brutishness of open warfare.

Interested?

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
The country up for grabs is called Latium-Rome, situated on the Italian peninsula, and with little written history, other than a history of tension and conflict with Tunis. Go to our website, nsneweurope.net, and check it out.

Then:

Submit a proposal of where you see the nation going, and what ideas you have for it. You might want to include:

1) Your government type, and how it got to be that way. Are you a filthy communist? A budding monarch? A dictator who'll make the trains run on time? A stooge of the industrial bourgeoisie and landed aristocrats? How did you come to power?

2) The other factions in your nation. Every nation's got 'em. Who are they? What do they want? How can other players support them to oust your current ruler from power?

3) A little of your history. Be sure you read the factbooks of the other nations! How does your nation fit in with our alternate history of Europe?

4) A plotline you would use to introduce tension into the region. Will it be the murder of a diplomat? A spy scandal? Nationalization of the local furniture restoration industry that has ties to a neighboring country? Tell us.

5) A (short) example of a newspaper article you might write that would introduce the above. Remember: don't give away the farm right off the bat. Let things go unsaid, seethe beneath the surface. Keep us guessing. Not everything has to add up. Oh, and will your story be published in a reputable source, or in a government mouthpiece like Pravda, or a paper that shills for the aristocracy?

So, in sum, interested parties should send contest submissions to admin[at]nsneweurope[dotrighthere]net, or a telegram to Unified Carthage. We look forward to hearing from you.

AND, EVEN IF YOU DON'T ENTER THE CONTEST, AT LEAST COME FOR A LOOK AROUND! NEW PLAYERS WELCOME!
