ViZion has long-been a force that have monitered situations across the NS world, getting involved in what it sees as a need to stop in the name of peace.
ViZion as long-been a force that will go to war with distant nations involved in something not concerning ViZion, but that ViZion feels must be delt with.
ViZion as long-been a force that you either side with or fight against, ally or become enemies with.
This is all about to change. ViZion has just elected President John Maybury in a landslide victory, 71% over the runner-up, Liberal/Democrat Rich Johnson.
President Maybury is a hard-lined Juris Naturalist, which is 'Classical Liberal' (vastly different from 'liberal'!) - The belief in Natural/Higher Law, and the usage of Austrian Economics.
Juris Naturalists work to limit government (NOT law!), and continue to make it smaller and smaller, less and less powerful, until (ideally) there is no more government. Yes, law will still be there, and yes, police will still enforce them. But government as we know it will be null and void... gone. There will be no political powers to abuse over people.
(OOC: Note, this is exactly what the founding fathers of the United States of America were working for... A limited government that would get less and less powerful. They believed in Juris Naturalist. They also wanted as limited political association with other nations, such as wars and alliances. Trade were the only real work done with other nations when the US was founded, until the government got off track.)
President Maybury also knows the reality of getting involved with other nations, and joining into alliances, getting intanged and used by allies.
The changes made/to be made under President Maybury over the four-year term: Shrink the government and their power over 78%. Cut all alliances with other nations. INCREASE trade. Improve upon the already-great education system in ViZion. Improve upon the great military we have. Cut taxes by 85%. Cut out all useless or corrupt laws, while adding in others that are needed. Work on improving relations with businesses, and help to boost them, while also preserving our environment.
First on the list: Cutting alliances and increasing trades. That is in the works as we speak.
Second on the list, begin the shrinkage of our government, fixes laws, and cut taxes.
Third on the list, improve business while continuing to preserve the environment.
Fourth on the list, improve on education system.
Fifth on the list, begin the improvement on the military.
To those nations who we have formerly been allies with, we are sorry if you feel we are letting you down, but we aren't. We will aid you with humanitarian aid, and if you are unjustly attacked, your aggressers committing crimes against your people, then, if peaceful means cannot help the issue, we will send military aid.
We will also get involved in issues not our own militarily only if innocent civilians are being harmed and/or killed. That we will not stand for, though we will use peaceful means before military, which is a last-resort.
