As some of you know that director Paul W.S Anderson (Resident Evil, Soldier, Event Horizon) is releasing the long awaited ALIEN VS PREDATOR film. Now, I am a huge fan of both series and thought it would be a good idea to have an Alien vs Predator RP.

It'll be closed and you must send me character specs via TG. I'm allowing for about ten people to join. Several slots are already taken by several nations that have expressed interest in this after I TGed them. I would like experianced RPers who know the Alien and Predator universe ranging from the Alien life cycle to the Predator's high tech weapons. But if you are knew to NS or have never RPed, but are fans of one or both of the series you feel free to send me a TG.

The RP won't start till about late August so take your time and think on it and get really good characters. Even at this stage everyone should know at least how everything gets started, human finds alien egg, human gets facehugged, chestburster comes out during an inconvient time, its a queen (whom I'll be controlling), she makes eggs, more humans get facehugged, Aliens and humans go at it, and to make it worse the Predators decided to get some of the action. Of course there is more to the story but that what happens to start the action.

On characters it is humans, Preds, and Aliens. Humans are either colonist who work for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation(or otherwise called "THE COMPANY") or are in the United States Colonial Marines. Marines start out with the pulse rifles and other ball busting weapons till they hand them out to the colonist to fight off the Aliens. Preds have all the super high tech hunter gear and the cloak. That doesn't mean they are permentally invisable. I am borrowing from ALIENS VS PREDATOR 2 that they need to recharged thier cloaker every so often. They can also be seen when they move quickly enough since thier cloak distorts that backround and a human can see this distortion. Preds can also be seen no matter what on the Marine's motion trackers. Aliens, they themselves are weapons and can see the pheremons given off by all three species, so even cloaked Preds can be seen.

I would like it to be somewhat balanced on characters. But Preds are few in numbers and Aliens are in droves. So please, don't all be humans, Preds, or Aliens.

I think this is enough to get some people's interest. I say again it won't get started for a while so take your time on think about your characters. I'll post more information later one. Just remember:

Oh yeah, I've TGed you, Valient, and Tarlachia. BTW, the WHEN THE HUNT BEGINS.....EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM is the tagline for this. I want it to play out somewhat like a movie, but the ending is basically unknown.

Lemme just bump this and give some info on the avaible weapons in the thread. I'm using the weapons and gear from the AVP2 game, ALIENS, and some from Paul Anderson's AVP movie. Your characters can use ANY of these weapons, execpt for the Aliens. This list is not final, I might make some changes, but it'll get you thinking. Next post will be the Alien breeds.

Blood- Thier blood is Acid and can burn through EVERYTHING, though after a while of burning it loses it's potency. So keep your character FAR away from an Alien when they are torn to bits by gunfire. Aliens can also spit thier acid for a few meters.

Sounds like fun, but as a pretty strict modern tech +1 nation I shall consign myself to watching from afar.

I forgot to mention. This takes place somewhat OUTSIDE of the NS universe. Humans from any nation on planet Earth. Golden Simatar is a slightly more advanced moderen tech nation and wouldn't be able to make all the stuff the marines have.

i will join (being an alien-/predator-/other stuff like that-freak this seems quite natural for me and of course, fun!)

This is my first hosted RP so please bear with me everybody. You can control up to two characters of either species. I'm controling the Alien Queen and a marines for example.

As for Alien types there are three, but each starts out as a facehugger inside an egg. So [i]try[.i] no to get facehugged. There is no cure for it. To make it easier for Alien players to talk Alien can communicate telepathically.

Drone/Warrior- The Alien you see in the flicks. For the imagination we'll use Paul Anderson's Alien which looks like a Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Alien minus the massive chin.

Runner- The Alien from Alien 3. Runs on all fours and can stand up for short amounts of time. This Alien comes about by facehugging a dog, but for the sake of not killing dogs (I have a Min Pin and get very attached to dogs and nearly cry when they get killed.) you can chose if it'll be a runner chestburster or a Warrior chestburster.

Predalien- this ugly SOB happens when Preds get facehugged. Much more powerful than the usual Alien.

There is a debate going on if the AVP movie will be PG-13 or R. I don't think is issue is settled since is no confirmed rating outside of Fox or Hollywood. All the Alien and Pred films have been R but ratings have changed a bit since then and it might get a heavy PG-13 nearly R rating. I'm only 16 so I'm somewhat hoping for a heavy PG-13 so I can see it by myself and not have to convince my dad to take me.

This RP could be very violent and there might be one or two f bombs used (I hope none are). Chestbursting and ripping people's heads off and such aren't exactly a clean affair. So comparing it to movie ratings it might be an R rated RP.

If it's anything like the movies it will be rated R. On a related note, I have decided to count all of the F-bombs dropped in "Aliens". My guess is somewhere around 25.

That might be a problem for me. The Regal in Manassas has a pair of cops next to the registers, for what reason I don't know, but I'm not taking any chances. Plus my dad said he would take me if it's R, if I walk the dog in the mornings for a week or two.

I'd like to be a civilian scientist (preferably the head scientist ;) ) so I can espouse on the science behind the aliens and predators.

As well, AmandatheGreat is def interested in RPing in this thread. She is having problems signing in.

Everyone else wants to shoot, so I see no prob you being the head nerd. I'll have to TG ATG later.

The Backdrop on the RP

LV-467 is a thriving colony, of 1,232 persons military and civilian, owned by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The land is rocky and barren and cursed by high winds, but the air is breathable and you won't be tossed into the air by a gust. There is a slight problem to all this, it sits right on top an old Alien hive. The heads of W-Y know this along with the head scientist. Everyone else is oblivous to this.
Captain Alan Crawford (my marine) 7Batt./ Delta Company USCM arrives to take over the securtiy of the colony. At that time and small team of two men stumble on the entrance of the hive several miles away and enter...

Stillman commented they would not fire their weapons & where dealt with as he saw fit. Victims where identified through DNA, as identities where obscured by acidic xenomorph blood. SFC. Stillman suffered minor acid burns & several dermal lacerations. Murder weapon was identified as a K-BAR combat knife, but was never linked to the killings due to acid damage on the blade. SFC. Stillman was discharged as a result. Stillman has since turned to mercenary work, selling his formidable skills to the highest bidder.

Corporal Zach Hunter is (pending approval by TGS) the senior member of the two man team that discovers the nest. He has worked on the security detail at the colony for 1 1/2 months and already hates the place. His life's ambition at this point is to get transferred to somewhere, anywhere else.

Just have in your mind your guy can't shoot the other guy when he gets facehugged. That is the Alien queen, and without her there would be no AVP, just HVP HUMAN VS PREDATOR. :)

Since 5CN is the only Pred, I'll also RP a Pred to be more balanced.

I think that since this RP will contain many more characters than there are RPer's, we should all feel free to RP somehting happening to X colonist, Y alien or Z marine. That way, we have lots of disposable characters to throw around. What's an Alien/Predator RP without lots of death?

I sadly don't have time to RP this, but I would like to help out in any way, and I have some questions....
1-Are any aliens going to get too be Praetorians?

2-Will AVP Extinction upgrades be in use?

3-Any AvP2 special characters appear in this?

4-Will there be allies(NPCs or other players) for participants?

OOC: A 160-lb man firing a PAIR of Desert Eagles? Even in the smallest caliber, the .357, you aren't going to hit a damn thing... Maybe if he was heavier, just maybe, like around two-hundred-some-odd pounds. I'd suggest something smaller, like a 5.7mm. The thing's got a twenty-round magazine, is very accurate, and can punch through kevlar. Plus it puts a much smaller hole in the alien, resulting in much less acid-blood being spilled.

Sounds like fun, but as a pretty strict modern tech +1 nation I shall consign myself to watching from afar.

Backround: Captian in the Marines he has encountered the xenomorphs several times. He commanded the security detail on LV-443 several years before and is still convinced that Stillwater murdered three of his men. Attended court of inquiry shortly after the xenomorphs on LV-443 were killed. Pleased that Stillwater was out of his unit he went on doing various bug hunts and commanding bases till he recived his orders to take charge on LV-467. Liked and respected by his men there is only one man he hates more than xenomorphs, Mac T. Stillwater.

Well, at this point, I am still planning to keep the desert eagles. I originally planned for him to have it JUST in case. The eagles are vintage, and are a gift, at least the way i planned to develop my character. If anything, at one point, he will use them, and of course, fall on his back. I have plans, at least plot lines that i want to go, and having the guns make that a little easier.

Simatar, check your TGrams...but if we have to wait till the end of late August...I think we should start the general begining now. After all, the Marines have to be called for a reason, the Yautjans have to choose a reason to actually hunt LV-467, like is a blooding, a hunt, chasing a bad blood, what? and we need to figure out the Alien numbers, have them start moving, taking hosts, etc...But that just comes from me, a lowly Yautjan freak.

Also, some brief info...

If this takes place after the movie Aliens^3, then it should be known that shortly after that movie in the time span, WYC was bought out by none other than Wal Mart due to total lack of ability to keep stock up, and rumors spreading about the incidents on LV-426. With the death of Elen Ripley, WYC had no way to perform expieriments on the Xenomorphs, and therfore no way to generate income from the one major WYC contractor, the military.

Yautjans (aka Predators), do not just kill for fun, except for bad bloods. The Yautjan hunt is VERY ritualistic, and not just a free for all killing spree. Only targets considered worthy are hunted, and true Yautjan hunters will only use thier cloaking ability to stalk their prey, and will kill up close and personal, uncloaked, with a combistick, comabt staff, sword, or wrist blades. Their plasma caster is used only to take on large, heavily armed enemies that are more of an anoyoance, same with the throwing disc. The average male Yautjan stands at about 7 feet, with females ranging in at about 8-9. They weigh, on average, 270 pounds of pure muscle, and, if you are staying true to the story and ability of the Yautjans, can withstand rounds (even the infamous '10mm caseless exploding tip' fired by the pulse rifle) upwards of .50cal. The mesh they wear as armor can also deflect most blades. A Yautjan can jump up to twice his own height, and often for long distances (around fifteen to twenty meters standing). They can withstand falls (and land on their feet) of about 100 feet, and can witstand temperatures so extreme that they would kill a human (i.e.-Flamethrower=useless). In fact, one case even shows a Yautjan pressing up against a metal wall that had a surface temp of around 150 C. They can hold their breath underwater for around five minutes, and can run at a sustained pace of 21 MPH for about three minutes. They can lift up to 8 times their own body wieght. They cannot learn other languages (on a mass level, certain cases are known where a Yautjan has learned to speak English), but can, in order to better understand their prey, imitate sounds created by their prey. Their braided hair is like wire, and can cut through skin and clothing if it is whiped around onto the prey.

The only time you'll see a Yautjan hunting on his own is a bad blood, which is what you see in the two movies. The average Yautjan lives about 1000-2000 years (More exactly, 15 Human Years=200 Yautjan years), and the older ones are highly respected.

"Looser"? Well you beat one of the guys at my dad's work who speaks Kilnon perfectly.

The Marines are already on LV-467 and with Weyland-Yutani's own merc group and reg guards make up the colony's security.

Predators used to hunt on LV-467. Now as they are doing a lifescan they dectect a large amount of humans, to hunt. The colony sits on top of a massive hive where one egg is able to outlast every other egg, the superfacehugger egg. The chestburster finds a place to hide and when it about the size of a warrior it starts taking human host back to the old hive. The Preds now get the best of both worlds.

The scientists (lead by Valient's character) who are suppose to be doing things to make colonization easier are jumping (out of sight of the Marines, some of whom have faced xenomorphs before) at chance to get one.

I belive we know about the Pred's strength or else they shouldn't RP. I really don't want this RP covered with "If I do this to an Alien" OOC post. For the sake of the RP and not making the Pred to strong the armour strength has to be cut back. Unless you want to be blown to bits by the Pule Rifle's grenades. lol. If some of you are wondering about the Pred's self destruct, so that the RP doesn't end prematurly and screw everyone else, the exploison will take out a few hallways, and not be the size of a small nuke.

For the last time, THE RP WILL NOT START TILL TARLACHIA GETS BACK, WHICH MIGHT NOT BE TILL LATE AUGUST. Sorry if I came out a bit harsh, but I hate reiterating myself on something I've said before.

The green field was splatered with blood and gore, from both humans and the dragons. The dragons were evil creatures, of a dark nature, conjured up by a majic that noone could understand. Pure evil. They moved fast, their hard, black, scaly skin easily able to stop blows from the vailent warriors swords. One man stood alone, wielding a mighty blade, ripping the dragons to shreds. This was the prey. He stood strong, and wielded his blade with strength, and soon, he, along with a handfull of survivors, had defeated the dragons. The green field was splatered with the blood of human, and xenomorph, alike.

Days later, the man, who was known as Uther Pendragon, and would be glorified as Aurthur, King of Britton, strolled along the lake side. This is where he had obtained the great sword, where he had learned of his destiny, and met the lady of the lake. He walked, deep in thought, the blade Excaliber at his side, his eyes showing his intrest in nothing at all. That was, until he heard the snap of a branch. He spun, pulling Excaliber, only to see a beast of might proportions comming down on him from the branches above him. The beast fell on him, and Excaliber flew from his hand. He pulled another short sword from under his cloak, and charged forward, blade ready.

Two long knife like objects sprung from the beast's wrists, and with a long, powerfull back hand, the blades came across Uther's sword, cutting the weak weapon into three sections, the force of the blow knocking Uther down. He scrambled backwards, and grabbed for the hilt of Excaliber. He found his mark, and lunged up at this beast. The beast, however, reacted far faster than Uther could have even dreamed, and his own blade, medium in length, short, light, and curved, came to meet the Uther's famous broadsword. They clanged together loudly, but even the mighty Excaliber could not withstand the force of the mighty blow, and a small chip of metal flew off with the sparks of contact. With another swipe, the blade meet flesh, and blood spewd forth from the wound. Dark, red, thick blood. Uther dropped to his knees, and looked up at the beast.

"Dragon!" he shouted, "show me your armored face, so that I may see who I fall too!" The beast looked down at his fallen prey, and although he could not speak English, he could understand it, and he removed the mask. The hiss of air from teh pipes frightened Uther, who believed he had just fought Bezzelebub himself. The face of the beast helped his fears none, as the four mandibles, each tipped with a tuskonly lead to an uglier face. Its mouth was behind the mandibles, and full of razor sharp teeth. "You are one ugly mother f*cker," Uther said, moments before the beast punched him hard in the stomach, the twin blades ripping through him, and exposing themself on the other side of his beaten body. He dropped, a gurgulling noise emiting from his throat. The beast leaned back, and let out a might roar.

From within the shadows, more appeared, and circled him, patting him hard on the shoulder, or hugging him. This young warrior had just completed his first hunt of a worthy adviersary. The blade was picked up, and hundreds of years later, would be presented to Jeffery Williams of Larkinia as a sign that he held great honor (of course, that is another story). The beasts disapeared into the forest, and soon, the world was quiet again.

An Alien isn't all that mindless. It's highly intelligent, but doesn't reason as much. Think of Borg, but with a little more individuality.

Imortia, what is Bezzelebub and a Naginata? The Naginata sound like a cerimonial sword.

Bezzelbub is an archaiac term for Satan, and the naginata is a cerimonial staff with a flail on each end, used in cerimonial hunts (not the normal hunt).

We do not pay hospital or office visit claims, we simply offer a discount based on PPO pricing rates that allow the patient a lower cost for their bill.

I also get a decent amount of pocket change working for a small Import Performance shop, working the register and selling parts on comision.

Hmm, about the movie thing - here in Surrey B.C. Canada, i could go (if want to) to 5 movies in one day. 12:30 - 2, 2 - 4:30, 4:30 - 6:30, 6:30 - 9, 9:30 to 12 midnight.

At the most, if there are a bunch of movies i want to see, i go and see 2 or 3, and then wait like 3-4 weeks. Our security is lax.

You guys really need a rating between PG13+ and R18+. Over here we have MA15+, which I'm sure AVP will be given. I'm old enough as it is, so it's all good... ;)

MA15? Oh, you're an Austrailian. All we got is PG13 and R for heavy violence, some films get away with heavy blood and gore with a PG13 if they cuss little and some, have heavy blood and gore with heavy cussing. But it's not the amount of blood and gore that is spilled in films, its the quality of the acting, directing, and story that count.

Aye. I think the MA rating is good, because the gap between 13 & 18 is rather large, and movies are more complicated than a little violence or a lot of violence.

R ratings over here are basically for extreme gore/horror/sex...

I've broken down the review into several parts. Effects, Acting, Story, Fright Level/Gore. There is also a scale of 1-5

Effects

Some of the best Special Effects I have seen in a film in a while. Many fo the shots are pratical effects. Meaning that they are models, guys in suits, or animatronics. Where there are striclty CG effects, you can see that it is CG. I'm not saying all the CG affects are like this, but a few are. Scale models, I can't really touch this without giving away a big hunk of the story. Guys in suits. Much scarier than CG ALIENS. Though they are somewhat limited by human movement, a mixture of GIS (Guys in Suits) and CG makes for fine watching. This is what many of the shots are. The queen in some sceens is anamatronic and in others CG. But I barely noticed it.

Acting

It is the actors that sell the horror in this genre. And they do just that. From Quinn's (Carsten Norgaard) encounter with Preds to Verheiden's (Tommy Flanagan) Alien encounter. The actors make you feel as though it actually happend. It is not just thier facial expressions, but thier eyes really sell it. Grant it, sometimes the acting is bland and uninspired. Some of the actors seem not to even try to express themselves, execpt by trying to talk hard or talk in a shivering voice. Acting is a mix of Good to bland. I belive this film has set up several of the actors for more action/sci fi roles.

Story

Not gonna go into much detail. We all know it. My father doesn't understand the meaning of it but forget him, no offense to my dad or anything. This is a storyline only fans would truly understand in depth and it might be impossible to explain to anyone who has never seen or touch on any of the movies or books, games etc. Anderson came up with a great original story which keeps the viewer on the edge of thier seat. His twist at the end will make you say "Holy Sh*t what happened?!" Great ending. TG me what you guys think about it.

Fright Level/Gore

Edge of your seat and non stop action after the first egg hatches. Fright is hard to say so since people experiance it on different levels. Gore, Anderson uses the "Hitchcock" effect more than the gore showing. You see the results (blood splatter, arm falling) and you imagine what happened yourself. In my opion it is a better method than showing the actual event. Some of you might disagree but thats okay. He does get away with a bit more gore than a regular PG-13 film.
I'll let you decide how frightened you are. 3/5 Gore and no gore, just screams.
