The Aegis Alliance

The Aegis Alliance is a group of nations organized for mutual protection. The requirements are the following:

1. You must have a stable government.
2. You must have a strong military for your size.
3. You must meet with the approval of Calcan.
4. You must pay a 2.5% Budget member dues. 1% of this will go to Calcan, as the leader of the alliance. The remaining 1.5% will be saved as a "crisis fund" for if the alliance ever encounters one, it will need funds.
5. You agree to defend your fellow members.
6. You agree to hold no tariffs against other members of the AA.
7. You agree to not be an embarrasment to the AA.

This alliance is perfect for new nations, as well as old. The trade benefits help us all, and the mutual protection is very useful to younger nations who need a helping hand to stop older nations from interfering with you. This alliance will not direct your domestic policy or foreign policy, as long as said policy does not violate item seven. Joining this alliance is a rational course of action.

Post here to ask to join. If you wish to move to the region (Not required) please telegram Calcan for the password.

We find the terms of your treaty to be rather curious. While we find most of your suggestions to be laudable, we're amused by the suggestion that membership requires tribute to your nation as opposed to a fee to the alliance as a whole. Exactly what would we be getting for the roughly $2,103,500,000,000 tribute we'd be paying to your little nation? 2.5% of total GDP may seem reasonable, but it's a much larger fraction of the national budget, which I must stress is not the entirety of a nation's wealth.

We look forward to hearing your response.

"What?"
"They're demanding a 2.5% tribute for the fact we'd be looking after their weak arses my Lord,"
"File this Alliance under jokes Lady Jillian,"
"As you wish my Lord,"

Well, do you pay your leader a salary? Calcan will be the leader of the alliance, for the simple reason being we founded it. The 2.5% GDP is the salary. It is only rational.

Also, once this alliance becomes large and filled with many smaller nations, then it would be to the advantage of large nations to join. You might as well join now. It is only rational.

(OOC: Yes, I realize I don't know about the conversation IC. I just wanted to respond to it from an IC point of view.)

Nations won't join because you're practically a n00b yourself. The fact that you require tribute is absolutely ridiculous...

Official Response from the Shogun:
"This has got to be one of the worst alliances I've ever heard of. Enough said."

We can understand the concept of salary and supporting an alliance through economic support. The NDA has a similar scheme in place, except it goes to the alliance as a whole, not to any single nation. Requiring tribute like that suggests that you're simply looking to fill your own coffers at the expense of your members.

We would recommend a slight modification. As already stated, we find the other aspects of your treaty to be commendable, but the tribute bit is troublesome. We would recommend that the tribute be set at 2.5% of a member's national budget, which is far more reasonable especially for your target audience, namely newer nations still building their economic base. We would also recommend that the full tribute not go to your nation specifically, but to an alliance fund from which your nation can draw a salary as founder. This provides you with income without making you look greedy, which is the way it seems now.

Our Empire is quite content with the alliances we have currently, and do not seek to join you at this time. However, it is in our best interests to encourage stability in the world, so we offer these recommendations to you in the hopes that you will be able to contribute to the security of the international community. Should your nation and alliance withstand the test of time, we would be pleased to renew talks for trade and cooperation.

OOC: wait...let me get this straight:

you (a n00b--no, a newbie b/c i'll give you the benefit of the doubt) want us to pay that much so that your leader can preside over an alliance in which you will be one of the smallest nations?

riiiight...

OOC: We are larger than the nations we seek: New, yet skilled, nations. And also, I'm not new to NS. This country is, but I am not OOC. In fact, I've been around here longer than you- late 2002 is when my primary nation was made.

This nation just has a huge ego.
