Air Allanea: Oil Discovered In Allanea

Allanea
16-07-2004, 16:52
Air Allanea: Today, the Allanean Arms Corporation has discovered the discovery of major amounts of oil in the Provinces of Nortonia(formerly "The Prophet", a Goobergunchian colony) and Hestonia (formerly part of East Phyrric).

It was noted that some top shareholders knew about the discoveries for a while, but did not report them to the press so that they could buy up more stock. While they are denying it, the prices on Allanean Arms, Inc. stock are up 10% today. Our economics consultant has been noted to say: "Jump on the opportunty before it's too late. Buy up some of their stock before the prices is too high. I know I did."

It is expected that the corporation will start selling the oil soon.

In other news, anti-environmentalist terrorists have murdered two EPA agents in South Allanea today...

OOC: I do not want a long IRC discussion right now but I'll be very short on this. If you suddenly want to find an OMGload of oil at the moment other nations want to start RPing it I think it is already EXTREMELY convenient RP.

Suddenly now that you can't steal HAEKOs oil because of changed RP you find it yourself on the very same day. How convenient. *rolls eyes*

I'll go along with it IF others in Haven do, even though I think its a ripoff and wanky.

I will, however IGNORE your ability to produce it at cheaper prices then the world market prices due to excessive wankage and "OMG WE HAVE NO ENVEIRO-MENTAL REGULASJUONZ" bullshit. Its a crap argument. If you wanna compete on the oilmarket, fine, but at least put some effort in it.

(For the record, I've had oil for a long time because its in the North Sea and I have polders there that have been RPed for an even longer time. Prices should be high though in order for it to be won profitable.)

Actually, this exact same thing has been done before... two years ago, Pure Evil magically discovered an oil supply equal to the rest of the world's resources combined under his nation the same day that someone else found just a little bit.

Do NOT force me to break out another carbonaceous asteroid that lets me sell oil at a nickel a barrel and still turn a profit.

OOC: First of Allanea made it's first oil discovery in Haven before the Fifth Edolian War. Back in the day they prevented us from drilling it. Given the fact that oil discovery was near East Phyrric IIRC (in the Straights), it would be perfectly reasonable for us to discover oil in East Phyrric itself.

Second, look at Nortonia. It BORDERS Kyzyl. Geologically, there's no reason for them not to have oil.

:headbang: ooc: i do find it rather entertaining, besides doesn't East Phyrric, your puppet have alot of oil?
this is your rather pathetic attempt against the New Haven trade treaties (more information comig soon)

It is laughable

"ooc: i do find it rather entertaining, besides doesn't East Phyrric, your puppet have alot of oil?"

East Phyrric is not my puppet. It's an are of Phyrric. Before the Jolt move, I bought a piece of it and renamed it the Province of Hestonia. And, as you yourself said, they have lots of oil.

[Wait, you're the HAEKO player? I thought that was the guy behind Communistpoland or something? Anyway, I'm not going to go along with this. There are three sources of oil in Haven and they are in Pauldustllah, TIS, and HAEKO, that's it and that's all there ever will be. Also, as far as most of us are concerned, Phyrric doesn't exist and neither does his little offshoot that he claims to have in Haven.

And Allanea, I know you posted this here because you know most of the UnAPS people didn't come here, which is damn low.]

 WHAT?!

I don't know about the dumber ones, but the ones I care about (you, Edolia, Feline, TIS) do.

Doujin doesn't, but that is not an issue.

From IRC:
[19:20] * ProudGunNut proceeds to selling oil at 14$ a barrel.
[19:21] <ProudGunNut> I wouldn't be selling it to YOU.
[19:22] <Knoot> THat doesn't have a fuck to do with it. I'm posting and that is the last of it.
[19:22] <ProudGunNut> So I'll still kill your exports. :)

Hahahhaaha... you are so l33t. Not.

I think the general opinion of, well, everyone else we talked to, is clear. I will totally IGNORE this oil find AND all resulting exports if you do it. So will others whose opinions you have heard.

This hasn't got anything to do with us wanting to be 'OMG BIGGER', it has to do with fairness and non-wankyness. I rest our case and ask that you, for once, respect it.

OOC: Nothing like a healthy dose of wankage huh Allanea? I'm surpised the original owner of the nation didn't find it first, but hey? You need to compete with a nation which has always had oil by just "finding" oil conventiently...

OOC: Alright I'm going to use a 'soft ignore' on your oil finds...that is I'm going to assume that my industry considers them worthless for imporation and use in maufacturing...(My scientific analysis here is based on a supposed sample so it may be 'inncorrect' avoiding god mod but a reasonable IC basis for my actions)

Klatchian Chemical Engineering News
Recent reports of new oil finds in the Haven region have increased speculation in a drop of sweet crude prices. However, Montago Labs announced that samples from the new wells are decidedly of poor quality.
the samples of Allanea crude have shown both high levels of sulfer compounds as well as chlorides. The crude is primarily made up of high weight tars mixed in with propanols and other light keys...
Several large chemical refineries have stated that they will not purchase any of the Allanea crude. Most notably Largo International has banned the purchase of the crude or any mixture containing more than 5% of Allanea crude.
The reasons for the recent hostility towards the crude is enlightened by Professer Thorburn of the Alconian Naval Academy.
Although recent new catalysts within the petro industry have a higher sulfer tolerance than those they replaced, many are even more suseptible to high cloride content. The fact that these new wells are producing what appears to be a material highly toxic to the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking process makes the cost of production much higher. With the availability of sweet crude and even local heavy crude still available, sweet crude prices will have to increase dramaticly to make refining of this new crude source ecconomical.

The Grand Duchies Future Exchange has rated the new crude source as 'mixed crude' and is trading at 6 Kr per barrel.

Note: Crude quality varies by deposit (or dome) so I doubt they share the same characteristics...
