An unlikely arrival

Allanea

In the sky, above Menelmacar

"Oh... s__t."

The escape pod was spinning uncontrollably. Or, maybe it was controllable. Not to him. It was the first time, ever, he has piloted something like this.

Suddenly, he saw the outlines of Menelmacar shores on the screens - just for a second, before the spinning of the craft took them out of view.

"Crap. Crap. Crap."

He wondered what the Menelmacari would do to a Disciple of Melkor once he landed. But, after a few more circles, he decided he did not care. His weird powers - on which he had almsot no control and of which he had understanding - saved him from the depths of Utumno, where he was imprisoned, betrayed by his Mentor. They saved him from the hypocenter of a nuclear explosion and from the irradiated battlefields of Yurka. Compared to that, an elven prison would be nothing.

"This is President Alexander Kazansky, emergency landing. Mayday. Mayday. "

OOC: Melkor is OK with this OOC. :)

OOC: No, actually, I'm not.

[18:47] <Micro> Kazansky does not know what he is capable of.
[18:47] <Micro> The abilities kick in when needed.
[18:48] <Micro> Nobody knows (except Melkor)
[18:48] <Micro> You see my idea?
[18:48] <Melkor> Alkanphel would know too. The Marshals likely have been briefed as well
[18:48] <Micro> But Kazansky doesn't.
[18:48] <Melkor> I don't see any point in not telling my men that theyre dealing with a demigod
[18:48] <Micro> So I have this vision:
[18:49] <Micro> Kazansky fights his way to a window.
[18:49] <Micro> He is surrounded.
[18:49] <Micro> He (surprisingly to himself) is morphed into some bat thing (like Sauron?)
[18:49] <Micro> He flies away.
[18:49] <Melkor> ...
[18:49] <Micro> Or a pigeon...
[18:49] <Melkor> you'll get screeamed at hardcore for that, let me tell you right now
[18:50] <Micro> Kazansky. The Black Pigeon Of D00Mzor.
[18:50] <Melkor> besides, that wouldnt necessarily eludicate Kazansky as to his true nature
[18:50] <Micro> elucidate? Translate that word?
[18:52] <Micro> elucidate? Translate that word?
[18:54] <Melkor> oh
[18:54] <Melkor> um
[18:54] <Melkor> eludicate = inform
[18:54] <Micro> Right.
[18:54] <Micro> I don't WANT him to be informed, OOC :)
[18:55] <Melkor> why?
[18:55] <Micro> I want him to have a long, tiring journey towards the truth.
[18:55] <Micro> I want him to meet elves, humans, and various
[18:55] <Micro> other creatures and piece together the truth bit-by-bit.
[18:55] <Micro> Makes sense?
[18:56] <Melkor> well, considering that it's sort of a stretch to beleive that an Ainu would "forget" what he is in the first place, this all seems a tad far-fetched.
[18:56] <Melkor> it's not really one of those things that you put together piece by piece. either you know what you are or you don't. there isnt much middleground.
[18:56] <Micro> He is not EXACTLY that, you know.
[18:57] <Micro> He's one of those "Creatures of the Darkness Beyond". But whichever.
[18:57] <Micro> Melkor, besides which, there's a lot of other things he needs to find out on the way to his Holy Grail.
[18:59] <Micro> Hey, I have an idea.
[18:59] <Micro> Why don't you just post re: "We of the imperium are forced to announce that Kazansky has escaped, bounty X dollars?"
[19:00] <Melkor> no.. if he escaped we'd leave it at that
[19:00] <Melkor> we were ttrying to make money off him, not pay for him
[19:00] <Micro> Well, whichever.
[19:00] <Micro> Why don't you just post re: "We of the imperium are forced to announce that Kazansky has escaped"
[19:01] <Micro> :)
[19:01] <Melkor> it'd be a sign of weakness
[19:02] <Micro> Or simply "We call off the auction".
[19:02] <Micro> Then I post re: what happens after the escape.
[19:02] <Micro> We don't need to provide the technicalities :)
[19:02] <Melkor> true
[19:03] * Micro awaits post. :)
[19:03] <Alkanphel> goddamn it

If I'm saying I'm "OK with this" in this conversation, then I'm Richard Nixon. This is about all the discussion we had on the subject, and I'm still trying to find the part where I say "yeah, just go ahead and post your president arriving in Menelmacar without any description whatsoever of how he escaped."

Bottom line, Allanea: you're still in Utumno as far as I'm concerned, contained rather well in solitary on D-Block.

OOC: I could see how he missunderstood you Melkor...that last bit

[19:02] <Melkor> true

"True" != "Yes, post a wildly ridiculous thread about somehow arriving above Menelmacar."

I was referring to his last line of commentary, about not being obligated to divulge the technicalities.

OOC: Yes, were talking about Allanea here. He's going to use your agreement to "We don't need to divulge the technicalities" to make the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution look like a strong curtail on Presidential Power.

It's all "technicalites" how little Mr President escaped and then found himself to saved by Siri...

I'm just playind devil's advocate here...I should say I agree with Melkor on this both based on the IRC and the unreasonableness of it all. Now if it were just somewhere in space...

OOC: Wow. I almost see how such a leap of mis-understanding could happen. To be fair, Melkor, you weren't very clear on your meaning on the "True" but that has no real bearing on what he posted... Meh, I'll never really know what he thought (too anal about details) so this is just my two cents on the situation.

Personally I favour this topic being closed (un-officially) and forgotten. Let us all just pretend it never was posted as it clearly was a mistake, sorta...

I understand this, but me saying "True" hardly validates him posting this. "True" does not mean "yes" in any dictionary I know of.

OOC: Personally, I wouldn't mind playing this out, but there's going to have to be some sort of determination how it is Kazansky gets out of Melkor's clutches. Even if it involves him just getting bought as was the original idea. Allanea, work something out with Melk, make sure he's cool with it, and then bring it to me, and I'll play. That's about the only way this is going to work without being a bitchfest.

Exactly! I have no idea how he made the leap of 'logic' from "we don't need to get into specifics on a post with Melkor announcing how a prisoner escaped" (which is what I took the "true" and posts before to be about) to "I'm going to post an arrival at Siri's doorstep". I should very much like to hear his side of the story... I imagine it would be somewhat entertaining.

Like I said the potential mis-understanding of that word "true" has no bearing at all on what he posted. Meh, I'll probably remain mystified even when he does post an explaination.
