The darkside of the Alpha Moon was the perfect place for a pirate ship to lay in wait for potential victims, usually those merchant ships that would often stray from the space lanes. One such pirate ship known as the Battlelore, it's captain the most ruthless of all. Captain Darkholme as he was known was a strange one, a pirate with no history past a month earlier. In that time he had brutally killed the crews former captain and had led them to savagely attack more then a dozen ships in that time. Because of that, Captain Darkholme had become most wanted in Draconis Nightcrawlis alone, especially since some of those ships were carrying supplies belonging to Lord Azazel.

Captain Darkholme stood on the bridge watching the empty space spread out in front of the ship singing quietly to himself. "We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot. Drink up me 'earties yo ho! We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot. Drink up me 'earties yo ho! Yo ho, yo ho a pirate's life for me. We extort, we pilfer, we filch and sack. Drink up."

"Captain Darkholme," came a voice from behind him.

"What is it Smythe?" he asked.

"News report said the Battlelore was destroyed Captain,"

Captain Darkholme cracked his knuckles, "And we know how true that is," he said. "Must be Azazel's men trying to bluff us out into the open, they shall never get us that way. Smythe set a course for the M66."

"Yes Captain."

The size of the bounty-hunter was intimidating, but not as much as his eyes...eyes that had witnessed much violence and cruelty, most of it from his own hands. Darius Steele stood in front of the law officer, staring down upon his balding head. He cracked his massive knuckles once, then again, and smiled in a visciously dangerous way.

"Listen, you've wasted enough of my time: there are no negotiations, my prices are fixed and solid. You want the nastiest pirate in the galaxy brought to justice? Then you need ME...and you need to pay the price."

The harried officer looked up at Steele, a slight tic affecting his left eye.

"Of course we want your services Mr.Steele, you come very highly recommended, and your reputation precedes you. But you must understand, we are but a poor nation without the facilities to meet your fair but very high prices..."

"Then we have nothing left to talk about." snarled Steele, turning his large back on the man and preparing to leave.

"WAIT" cried the officer, "perhaps I can make some arrangement with my superiors..."

Darius Steele smiled once again, this time with a hint of warmth.

"Do so. I'll be at the spacedock, readying my ship. Transmit the payment receipt to me, and I'll be on the hunt shortly after that."

Steele watched with amusement as the officer scurried off to finalize the payments. He lit a small cheroot, and drew the sweet-smelling smoke deeply into his lungs as he strode towards the space dock. Workers quickly got out of the huge man's way as he approached his ship.

"Darkholme...my dear friend Darkholme. Enjoy your last taste of freedom, scum."

Darius smiled grimly as he boarded his ship.

IC:

Slowly cruising like an angel bringing forth salvation, the powerful frigate of the Excalibur Class, the CNSS-2008 Dunkerque, lanced through space, its powerful sublight engines pushing the warship to speeds once thought unimaginable for ships of such size. Measuring some 450 meters long, the frigates of the Excalibur Class were small, but more than made up for it with blinding speed, heavy firepower, and some of the heaviest shielding built into a vessel of such a size.

This particular vessel, commanded by Captain Lorenzo Veneti, had orders from the Five Civilized Nations Citadel of Cala to investigate a series of pirate attacks upon shipping near one of the major trade routes between the Cala System in the M96 Galaxy in the Leo I Group and the Draconis Nightcrawlis homeworld in the Alpha Einherjer system.

Slowly, the vessel continued on its journey, heading swiftly through space...

"And just why are we heading to the Virgo Supercluster?" Smythe asked.

Captain Darkholme sat back in the captains chair watching the empty space pass before them. His eyes crossed to where Smythe was sat at the controls. "My dear Smythe, we are going there for the same reason we always do," he told him. "As you know Azazel has still yet to take Tortuga DN, the only Draconian colony not under his control. It is our safe haven where we are free to recruit and pick up supplies."

OOC:

Just a word of warning, Captain Darkholme has to come out of this alive since I plan on using him in a future RP thats very important for my nation. If any of you have nonexpendable character, let me know before hand :)

IC:

As always, the flight deck of the small starcruiser was a beehive of frenzied movement as the motley crew went about their assigned pre-flight tasks. Steele took in his surroundings with a practiced eye, noticing with satisfaction that all seemed in readiness. His eyes stopped when they arrived on the shapely form of his navigator, Tanis Brenner. She was every inch the classic Xpovosian, a race known for it's beauty and penchant for violence. Steele had a long-standing rule of never fraternizing with his crew, but she gave the bounty-hunter pause to reconsider. Sensing his stare, Tanis turned slowly to face her leader.

"Evening Cap'n, we are at Alpha readiness and await your pleasure".

"Hold steady on Alpha for now", Darius said, pulling out a slim onium case from a pouch on his holster. Opening the case, he considered the small cigar that lay there for a moment before bringing it his mouth and activating the self-lighting mechanism. He drew a thick cloud of the bittersweet and pungent smoke into his lungs and exhaled slowly. He thought about the events of the last few days...

...reports that a dangerous marauder had begun terrorizing the spacelanes surrounding Draconis Nightcrawlis, virtually bringing traffic and trade to a standstill. Then the urgent call from a low-level flunky working for some unknown member of the planetary government, begging for the services of the legendary Darius Steele. Of course, the offer was refused outright by the bounty hunter: not because of any potential danger, but because of all the headaches a job like this created. Too many players, and too many unknown quantities made for sloppy work, and Steele was nothing if not meticulous in the execution of his missions.

A short while afterwards, the pirate struck again, this time leaving a swath of death and bloodshed in his path. Darius was only half-listening to the newscast while running some diagnostics on his wrist-blasters, so it took a few seconds for him to realize that they had identified the rogue Captain leading the cutthroats, and the name sopped him in his tracks:

Darkholme.

When the flunky's second call came through, Steele took it right away. Hours later, he and his crew were spaceborn. Their cruiser, the Vengeance, cut through space, bristling with sensor pods and weapons. They arrived at Draconis Spaceport only to find that space was limited due to the large number of transport ships that were stuck on the surface, and the arrival of the myriad bounty hunters, law officials, newspeople and thrill-seekers filled the spaceport with ships of all shapes and sizes. A quick call to ground-control yielded a mid-level manager who was smart enough to understand that one does NOT make Darius Steele circle in orbit awaiting permission to park.

39 minutes later, Darius was striding swiftly across the spaceport dock, on his way to meet the secretive official.

Now he could do nothing but wait: the laws of this quadrant were clear, and strictly enforced. He could not employ his unique skills without a special license issued by the contracting government, and the license was never issued unless there was a desperate need. Steele was a patient man, but there was a sense of urgency within him, one that was building to a breaking point, one that no man or law could hold back. He crushed the burning cheroot on the ground as he turned to leave the bridge.

"Direct any incoming messages to my room. Tell the Razors to get suited up, but not battle-locked. Have Chef make me one of his turkey clubs, with crispy bacon...and make sure its crispy." Darius paused at the sliding door. " One last thing: keep an eye out for any ships from Five Civilized Nations because they're always armed to the teeth and quicker then anything out there. I much prefer to avoid those damned things."

As the door slid closed behind him, Darius felt the beginnings of a massive headache coming on.

"Ah Tortuga DN," Captain Darkholme smiled gleefully.

"Are we going to the surface captain?" Armi asked.

Captain Darkholme sighed. "Of course," he replied. The captain proceeded to check that he had his sword and a zat'ni'katel with him before leaving the bridge.

Below, Tortuga DN was as busy as ever. It was very easy to get lost in between all the people and vanish from any persuers. There were plenty of taverns that one could choose from, but Captain Darkholme had his personal favourite. In one of the dirty back streets was 'The Kings Head. Its usual clientele was usually the lowest of the low, however the captain didn't seem to mind as it was very easy to keep a low profile there and none of his crew were there to get on his nerves. Entering the tavern, the first thing he noticed was the barmaid.

"Hello Esmerelda," he smiled.

She looked up at him. "Still alive I see," she remarked. "The usual I take it."

"As always,"

"So what is it you 'ave come to Tortuga DN for this time?" Esmerelda asked.

A grin crossed Captain Darkholmes face. "Still upset about the fight I started last time I was here," he remarked.

Esmerelda waved a podgy finger in front of his face. "An' that cost me alot to fix," she growled at him. "You're bad for buisness an' very ruthless."

"And?" the pirate grinned.

The fat landlady sighed. "You just happen to be my best patron," she admitted, leaning in closer. Her breath was most foul. "An' I know your true past."

Captain Darkholme scowled. "And if you so much as hint to anyone about it, I will be the one to kill you personally," he warned her.

"I must confess, all this 'Dark History' does sound fascinating," announced an enormously fat stranger walking slightly tipsily up to the bar, "And I would be pressed to slake my awakened curiosity about this dark stranger if I didn't have to slake my verge-of-death thirst. I thought this was a bar!" He thumped a pudgy fist on the tabletop, "You can't even serve me a decent drink! You can't even serve me a bad drink! I've been here for twenty minutes and all I've gotten is an indecent offer from a frighteningly drunk space pirate!" He glared woozily at Esmerelda.

Plying international trade lanes, the LRRSMV Jimi Hendrix moves through the void.

The Hendrix is only one of two of the most impressive cargo ships around, the Jimi Hendrix class freighter (the other one is named Ruben Gonzales), near 10 kilometers tall in all its bananna-shapedness.

And it was also armed to the teeth. However, a pirate might not know that, and even though it was armed to the teeth, everyone knows a Hendrix freighter, while insanely fast at full power, is by no means a manouverable ship.

But still, a pirate captain would have to be utterly insane to try to take it with anything less than a dreadnaught-size ship, and the Hendrix had destroyed one of those in its time.

On the bridge, captain Zukhovsky sits at a small table, sipping a glass of coffee, while the helmsman and other bridge crewmen perform their various tasks. Sensors, sensors, more sensors.

"We've arrived."
"Take us out of hyperspace."

The Jimi Hendrix drops out of hyperspace at the system hyperlimit, and makes its way inwards. Its task here was to take in a heavily damaged destroyer, which had been out in space for the past 30 years, in fact, and had just recently surfaced. It was waiting at Tortuga.

"Helm, bring us towards the planet."
"Aye."

The freighter lasily accelerates towards the planet, its gigantic size no doubt drawing attention.

OCC: So I dunno if you want to try to take the Hendrix or just try to stay out of its path.

The Hendrix arrives in orbit above the planet several hours after reaching the hyperlimit. It soon spots an ancient Donovan class destroyer, apparently with several chunks of hull missing.

The freighter sends out a trio of tugs, and the old destroyer is brought into the cavernous hold of the freighter. The crew is disembarked and debriefed.

Meanwhile, captain Zukhovsky decides to go planetside for several hours.

A short while later, a Hammer II corvette leaves the fighter bay, and descends to the planet.

The CNSS-2008 Dunkerque slowly altered its course heading instead to the M66 Galaxy in the Leo I Group, the location of the Tortuga DN colony instead of the Alpha Einherjer system. Sighing to himself, Captain Lorenzo Veneti gazed serenly from his command chair at the bridge crew and watched as the helmsmen made the final adjustments to the frigate. The head helmsman wheeled his chair around and saluated the captain.

"Captain Veneti, the Dual Minovsky Quantum FTL Drive is ready, sir. We've finished calculating the jump to the M66 Galaxy," the helmsman said.

"Excellent, Take us out, lieutenant," replied the captain.

"Aye, sir."

Four seconds later, the Dunkerque disappeared, heading at FTL speeds to reach the M66 Galaxy...

Tzigane strolled into a pub that announced its name "The King's Head" on a very dirty sign. The other customers looked mostly to be the type who would not hesitate to kill for the slightest insult, and she could see that a few eyed her with intentions that were clearly less than scrupulous. Places like this usually had pretty good drinks though, so she didn't care. They were unlikely to try anything, as she was conspicuousely armed and the scar running down one cheek told that she was no stranger to rough and tumble times.

Though Callisdrun was no space nation, Tzigane had managed to get off the surface and had gotten across space by variously hitching rides, stowing away on transports and sometimes stealing small craft. Aside from some scars, she looked fairly normal for a young, vampiric, northern Callisdrunian woman. Other than her scars, a few tattoos marked her eerily pale skin, but that wasn't at all out of the ordinary for Callisdrunians. Her long pitch black hair was tied back in a ponytail, revealing a variety of piercings on both ears. An AK-103 was slung over her back while an axe hung at her hip from a lopsided belt, partially hidden by a black trench coat.

Her eyes saw perfectly in the dim light of the tavern, and she strode over to the bar, taking a seat while a customer talked to the barmaid, whom he apparently knew, nearby. Tzigane silently waited while they continued talking. She was in no hurry, so there was no need to interupt their conversation for her to order. She hoped their vodka was decent.

Darius Steele was just taking the final bite of his sandwich when his intercom chimed. Swallowing rapidly, he punched the respond key.

"This better be good..." Steele growled menacingly.

"Capt'n, I think you need to hear this. One of our moles has just reported in, and we have a lock on Darkholme!"

The huge bounty-hunter came to immediate attention. "Details!"

"It seem's that our target has decided to go to ground on Tortuga DN. The mole is currently tracking his movements planetside."

"Lock in an immediate course for Tortuga, and get me clearance to leave this damn place!" ordered Steele as he began putting on his battle-gear.

"Already done Capt'n", replied his navigator Tara. Darius could swear he could almost hear her smile.

Steele was walking out the door when he heard her voice again. "Oh, and one other thing you should know, sir...we have visitors. Our friends from the Five Civilised Nations have shown up, in an Excalibur-class ship to boot. Records show that Lorenzo Veneti is the captain..."

"Veneti??" replied Steele, incredously. "How the frag did he get command of an Excalibur? Who is that paper-pusher sleeping with anyways? Damn, another headache to deal with..."

Steele stormed out of his cabin, the embers of his anger beginning to blossom into full flame.

Captain Darkholme stepped away from the bar as Esmerelda dealt with her customers. Taking a small dagger from inside his black leather coat, he made his way through the crowd looking for the familiar figure of Captain Sparrow. Scouting the immediate area, he found him stood over by the fireplace, flirting with a couple of women. Since he had his back to him, Captain Darkholme found it very easy to sneak up behind him. One of the women shrieked as he lightly pressed his dagger into the other pirates throat, just above his adams apple.

"Ahoy there Sparrow," Captain Darkholme.

"Darkholme," Captain Sparrow grimaced. "Fancy meeting you here."

The captain didn't remove the dagger, "Ja, ja, ja," he replied. "You know I frequent this hellhole, my question is why are you here making a scene as usual. Got a fat bugger complaining about you."

Only then did Captain Darkholme remove the knife.

"Well he was asking for it," the other captain said turning around, a sly grin crossed his face.

Putting his dagger away, Captain Darkholme told him, "With your antics I'm surprised you aren't already dead."

Captain Sparrow laughed and threw up his arms. "Well you know me," he grinned. "No one can kill me for I am invincible."

"Wanna bet?"

"How much?"

As Steele entered the bridge of the cruiser Vengeance, the first thing he noticed was the finely-shaped derriere of Tanis, his Xpovosian navigator. He lost himself briefly in her roundness, and a small smile crept across his face. At that moment, she turned to face him, catching him staring.

"As interesting as my ass is Capt'n, I think you'll find this moreso", said Tanis, returning his smile. "Our mole on Tortuga tracked Darkholme to the "Kings Head", where another of your friends was also noticed there...Sparrow."

"That fragger is still alive?" exclaimed Steele, his massive hands balling up into granite fists.

"They never did recover his body from the crash site, remember?" stated Tanis, "Once again, his legendary luck seems to be working for him."

Steele pondered this new development. "Hmmmm, well I guess we can do a 2-for-1 deal, and eliminate both of these cockroaches once and for all..."

Darius strode over to his command chair, and settled in. He punched a few buttons, and saw that the Razors were battle-ready, and all ship functions were good to go.

"The Vengeance awaits your orders, Capt'n," purred Tanis, turning back to her console. Suddenly, another communication drew her attention. She listened intently, then turned back to Steele.

"Looks like you hit the trifecta, sir...the mole reports that another old friend has just walked into the bar...that little vampire-thief Tzigane is shooting back Alderian vodkas, paying for it with our loot I'm sure...the little bitch."

Steele turned away, trying to stifle a grin. There was no love lost between his navigator and the vampire, and Darius hoped part of it was because of him...Tzigane had been a brief, passionate and electric fling, and though he did have some feelings for her, her lifestyle was such that the two would never see eye-to-eye. When she left in the dark of night, Tzigane had also taken almost half a million credits worth of Starlight Gems from the ships hold. Steele had no love for thieves, especially those that had the unmitigated gall to steal from HIM.

"Lets get this party on the road...prepare for immediate departure."

"Systems ready, lift-off on your command." replied Tanis, hands flitting rapidly across her console.

"The command is given." said Steele, a grim look in his eye.

With that, the Vengeance leapt into the sky, on a course for Tortuga, and destiny.

Within moments every Tortugan patron had drawn their weapons and were now pointing them at the two men.

Tzigane had just gotten her vodka when two of the other patrons drew swords. Her eyebrows raised, this would be interesting, she thought. One was the same man who had been talking to the barmaid, apparently called Captain Darkholme. Tzigane decided she liked him better than the man with the Katana who looked like a rabbit, so she thought she would get in the fight on his side. She took a large swig from her vodka and then swivelled on her seat, conspicuously taking her one handed battle axe off her belt while drawing a pistol not so conspicuously.

She swore at the rabbit-man (by far not the strangest thing she'd seen out here) in Callisdrunian and then gave those involved a razor-blade grin. She hadn't fed in quite a while. The blood-lust clearly shone in her eyes.

Not wanting to be left out of it, and the rabbit-man having been likely at least temporarily stunned by another patron hitting him over the back of the head with his mug, Tzigane slammed her axe into what she presumed was the rabbit-man's groin while shooting at his friend. She could not tell if she had hit him or not. In the chaos that was ensuing around her, she suspected that another tavern customer would take care of him. In a few minutes she could probably feast.

However, before she could bite him, a strange odor drifted into her nostrils, making her feel woozy and her stomach heave (OOC: Callisdrunian vampires have strange reactions to some chemicals). Tzigane fell to her knees as the rabbit-man and his friend escaped. As she drifted in and out of a state of semi-conciousness, all she could think was "damn!"

Captain Lorenzo Veneti cursed colorfully when he read the message that some stupid bitch in charge of the Draconis Nightcrawlis colony. Slamming his fist down upon the side of his command chair in anger, Lorenzo was tempted to give the order to annilihate the renegade colony.

Shaking his head in disgust, Lorenzo turned his first officer and said, "Commander Tane Spiro, you have the bridge." Then turning to his marine detachment officer, he said, "Colonel Ichiro, prepare your unit."

As the two officers saluted, Lorenzo stood from his chair and hurriedly walked off the bridge, heading towards the strike frigate's docking bays. Commander Spiro sat down in the vacated command chair, while the marine officer ran off the bridge to prepare his unit.

-----

Thirty minutes later, five hundred Five Civilized Nations Combat Marines stood stiffly at attention in one of the five docking bays, sternly reviewed by both Colonel Suzuki Ichiro and Captain Lorenzo Veneti.

In a clear voice, the Captain gave his orders.

"Okay men. Your orders are to secure the Tortugan docking bays. You are authorized to utilize maximum force. I have orders from Grand Admiral Rayus Noventa to take a certain Captain Darkholme in at all costs. Intelligence believes that this pirate captain is currently at Tortuga. Secure the docking bays and we will have him."

Wheeling on the heels of his feet, the Captain gazed at the marine commander. "Colonel Ichiro, your men will join me aboard the Skygrasper Transports."

"Yes sir."

Turning around, the Captain boarded the transports, followed by the marine commander and the marine unit.

Slowly the transport exited the cavernous docking bay heading towards the colony, escorted by a trio of powerful F-39G Corsair Interceptors.

En route, the Captain sent a message to the colony.

The effects of the gas wearing off, Tzigane rose to her feet and surveyed the scene. The rabbit-man and his friend (she still does not know their names) appeared to be long gone. Most of the other tavern patrons were either unconcious or at least, like herself, quite groggy. Sighing with disappointment, Tzigane looked down at her axe. The blood was still wet. Her mood slightly improved, she licked it off and then went back to the bar to finish her vodka, which somehow had remained undisturbed through the brawl.

The Vengeance bolted skyward, clearing the spaceport quickly, avoiding the traffic that that was milling about. Capable of sub-orbital as well as deep space flight, the Vengeance was light, fast and filled with enough state-of-the-art firepower to see Darius Steele and his crew safely through battles with ships many times their size. The ship that now filled their screens was another matter completely: the Dunkerque was a massive beast, built for raw destruction. As the Vengeance cruised quickly by the seemingly never-ending bulk of the enormous strike frigate, Darius explored the vessel with a practiced eye, looking for weak points in the juggernaut. He knew three different ways of disabling the Dunkerque, but all involved the loss of his ship, the lives of his crew and himself...so he looked a little harder.

"Everyone smile and wave", he said to his crew, a slight smirk tugging at his face," lets just hope they're to busy to take a close look at us."

Steele had no problems with the government of the Five Civilized Nations, nor with Captain Veneti personally. "Heroes for Hire", Steele's security agency, was a well respected entity in the world of professional bounty-hunting, and the company was the first choice of many governments when their own security forces could not(or would not) do the job.

He knew of the 5CN Captain through different sources that he had on dozens of planets. Word on the street was that Veneti was a man of honor, and could be a very dangerous adversary when provoked, and that he had no great love for bounty-hunters or others who played in the grey zones of the law. Steele took a long draw from his ever-present cheroot, and slowly released the smoke before speaking again.

"The moment you get the green light, punch it: we'll apologise to the harbor patrol on the way back."

Less than a minute later, the Vengeance hit her stride and quickly dissappeared into the distance, leaving the Dunkerque behind, following a straight course for Tortuga.

I'm a decent theif and a skilled arsonist. I'm also resistant to most chemicals and diseases I've encountered, the one they just used I just wasn't prepared for. I've got some special needs, but they're easily fulfilled in this line of work. In my time in the Callisdrunian navy (OOC: military service is compulsory in Callisdrun) I was a gunner. The Vengeance had arrived earlier, assuming orbit above Tortunga. Darius had decided not to land on the planetoid because he wanted to be able to leave quickly, if the situation warranted it. A small shuttle was deployed, and Steele, his Xpovosian navigator Tanis and 2 Razors accompanied him to the surface, where they landed in a small, hidden clearing, a few kilometers from the village. After they had unloaded their gear and secured the ship, Darius spoke briefly to them.

"Ok, this is a simple mission: find the targets, report back to me and DO NOT engage. Darkholme and Sparrow are dangerous enough on their own, and if they've joined forces, well we could be in for a heap of trouble."

Steele paused, looking each of the crew members in the eye, his gaze lingering on Tanis.

"Non-lethal settings on your weapons, boys...we want them alive."

The huge bounty-hunter looked at his navigator, who was suddenly speaking animatedly into her headset.

"Update from the mole, Capt'n. Seem's that someone tried to take out Sparrow and Darkholme at the bar...the hit went bad, and the hitters went running. Darkholme and Sparrow were then seen leaving...and Tzigane was with them."

"Where are they now?" grunted Steele.

"Unknown Capt'n. Some sort of tranquilizing gas was used, and our mole is still busy trying not to puke."

Steele let out a string of expletives only half of which were understood by the crew around him. He had hoped for a simple snatch n' grab, and now it looked like he would have to hunt.

"What else could go wrong?" Steele asked of noone in particular.

"Sir, I'm also getting scattered reports that there is some sort of action at the docking facility...shots fired...Capt'n, it sounds like an invasion of some sort, and from what I'm hearing, 5CN troops may be behind it!"

"What? What the frag is Veneti up to?" Steele took a second to light a cigar as he pondered this new development.

"Drixon, you and Leeds get down to the dock, and scope out the situation. DON'T get involved, just get me some information. Tanis and I will try to pick up the trail of our targets."

The two Razors loped off towards the direction of the docking facilities. Darius and Tanis stood looking at each other without speaking, until the silence became uncomfortable.

"Maybe you should stay with the ship, navigator" said Steele, not meeting her eyes, "this job is going fubar, and I want to make sure we can bail quickly if needed."

Tanis replied with an edge to her voice. "With all due respect Capt'n, Vondos can fly the Vengeance as well as I, and you need someone to watch your rather large back...sir."

Steele smiled, a real smile, and replied gently. "As always, you speak with much wisdom. Alright navigator...let's go bag us some bad guys!"

"Yes sir", answered Tanis, relief in her voice.

Don't be confused! (Edited to include the cowards... ;-)

-Darkholme is a Pirate raiding the shipping lanes around Draconis Nightcrawlis.
-Sparrow is another Pirate, a friendly rival of Darkholmes.
-Both have prices on their heads.
-Darius Steele is a Bounty-Hunter, hunting them.
-Veneti is Captain of the 5CN frigate, with his own agenda. Also hunting pirates.
-Tortunga DN is a small planetoid where the pirates have gone to ground.
-Tzigane is a rogue vampire, looking for a job. She seems to now have one with Darkholme.
-Captain Zukhovsky runs the Jimi Hendrix, one of the biggest cargo ships in the galaxy. We aren't really sure why he is here, but it seems he is interested in an old decrepit destroyer.
-Admiral Fitzgerald Kanosis is a man running from his past, also with a price on his head - he goes after the pirates to try and make a quick buck. He had his ass handed to him by them.

They are all currently on Tortunga (except Zukhovsky)...the pirates are running, the bounty-hunters are chasing, the cowards are hiding and the 5CN are invading.

The miles melted beneath their feet as Steele and Tanis approached the small port city, and the infamous drinking hole known as "The Kings Head". They were within spitting distance when the beautiful navigator stopped suddenly, listening intently to her headset.

"Razor 1 reporting shots fired at the spacedock, sir" Tanis stated, "from where they are standing, it looks like Veneti's dropship is training the big guns on them...sir, they're firing!"

"Patch me in on the comm", replied the big bounty-hunter, glaring towards the direction of the docks, knowing that he could see nothing at this distance. He listened to the description of the action, not knowing what to make of it.

"Razor 1, I need a full recon of the situation. It could be that our targets are the ones being fired on by that 5CN ship, so move in and scope out the situation. Captain Darkholme quietly pressed on, he seemed to know where they were headed. The jungle around them began to get denser, surely no wone had ventured this far from the colony.

"How about a song?" Captain Sparrow mentioned. "We gonna ride the sea, we pray to the wind and the glory. That's why we are raging wild and free. Come sing along with the pirate song. Hail to the wind, hooray to the glory. We're gonna fight 'til the battle's won. On the raging sea."

"Phew hot out here innit," Captain Sparrow mentioned. He took off his jacket and looked at Tzigane. "So where did you say you came from again?"

Captain Darkholme stayed silent, he appeared to be ignoring the other pirate.

"Move out," Colonel Ichiro ordered, when he saw the heavy door fall from the stress and power of the 75mm beam cannons.

Quickly a squad of heavily armed marines swarmed through the docking bay entrance, their exoskeletons' machinery whining as they moved. Finding nobody in the courtyard, the marines crouched down behind any available obstructions and waited. Immediately afterwards, another squad of marines proceeded through the entrance, followed by Colonel Ichiro and Captain Veneti...

Down toward the other end of the courtyard was another door. Along the sides were a few more doors. All were labled Storage, only the door at the far end was labeled differently, Check In.

Evidently those guards that had survived had quickly left to get back up.

Tzigane replied. "Callisdrun. It is a land of ice. So far north on its planet that there is no sun during much of the winter, and in the summer the thunderstorms are constant. It's beautiful though." She paused for a minute and then added "You'd like the festivals held on the solstices. Great times." It had been fun, although, so had her space career.

The door opened to reveal a crowded check in area. Close to them, a group of men in white coats were arguing with a woman stood behind the check in desk.

"Look there is no attack," one of the men yelled. "Now let up back to our ship."

The boulder didn't stand a chance.

The point-man, Orto Leeds, had just stepped beside the large rock when it exploded, sending out an expanding ring of deadly shrapnel, The pieces bounced harmlessly off the exo-skeleton and body armor of the Razor, causing only cosmetic damage.

"What the frag!" yelled Leeds, keying in his comm with his tongue, "we're taking fire!"

Basta Drixon stood calmly, surveying the action in the distance. Dialing up his optic magnification, the veteren Razor was able to see the drama unfolding at the dock, and marvelled at the sheer power of the 5CN dropship's big guns...

"Stand down, rookie...if you check your buddy bar, you'll see that I fired that blast." Leeds lowered his gatling-launcher, but kept his eyes trained forward. Drixon continued.

"Somehow on the way here, I musta damaged my shoulder-mount, and systems were indicating it was outta commission." he paused and smiled "I tested it just to make sure. Looks fine to me..."

"Thanks fer th' warning," muttered the younger man, "and fer lettin' everyone know we're HERE."

"Y'know, your mouth is gonna get you in a lot of trouble, boy...now, shut it for a minute and listen up: those navy boys ain't fightin' with Darkholme and his crew...those were Draconis guards that were running away from the 5CNers, and IF Darkholme was anywhere near here, he's gone after that attack." Drixon took a deep breath. "I need to talk to the Captain".

He keyed his comm and waited. When no reply came, he tried again to no avail. He asked Leeds to try, with the same results. Their comms were in working order, yet Steele was unreachable. A decision had to be made, and Drixon had to make it.

"So...how do you feel about taking a closer looksee?" Drixon asked with a grin.

"I'm sorry, but it is recommended that you leave this area. We have an unauthorized landing by some crazy bastards. They escaped and the other Tortuga DN guards and I are attempting to find where they ran off to."

"Go where?" asked Drixon as he placed the barrel of his wrist-blaster against the neck of Kanosis. The two Razors had seen the men huddling behind some crates, observing the actions at the dock. He and Leeds had placed their razor-suits in stealth mode, and were able to approach the two men unawares. They followed them to their ship, and boarded with them, bypassing the on-board security with ease. They now had their weaponry trained against the skulking duo.

The big Razor smiled...and said nothing. There was no reason to let the man know about the stealth properties of his armor, or the advanced security baffles that rendered him almost invisible to most known forms of sensor and security devices...yet. From his reaction, the regal looking man in front of him was not part of the military action below, and in fact, was trying to leave the scene before it got out of hand. Drixon looked the man up and down, and knew immediately that he had military training just by the way he stood...relaxed, but ready to explode into action. Out of habit, Drixon activated his suit database and let the computer run a check on the man in the background.

"If this is so, then you have my apologies. We thought you might be involved with the actions outside - and obviously, yer just trying to get out before the sh*t hits the fan. We'll leave now, and let you get on your way."

Drixon was beginning to lower his blaster when a "ping" came from his AI. He listened intently for a second, then quickly raised his weapon back into the ready position.

"Well, well...yer a long way from home, Admiral Kanosis. The Celackian premier sends his regards."

He noticed that Leeds had gone to full combat readiness, about a second after he brought his own suit to maximum.

o.o.c. Brief history of Kanosis (excluding the first 30 years of his life). Kanosis was PM of Celack in 2005. After several events, including several universes colliding, he was (unknownly) cloned and sent into the future. The time travel modified him somehow. He was able to split into genetic backgrounds, a human and a rabbit, each with genius intellects and they share a telepathic bond. the seperation is preceded by a large blinding green flash and a loud thunderlike crack. Upon his arrival in the future, he managed to aquire a Katana which is sharp enough to cut through flesh, bone and steel. It has even cut through the hull of some weaker spaceships. In other words you're F*****d

I.C. Kanosis chuckled for a moment and a blinding green flash that filled the bridge of the Kitsefa along with a thunderous crack.

The flash blinded Drixon temporarily, and when his vision returned, he realized that he was face-to-face with the armored boot of a Razor unit. He tried to gather his thoughts, but they faded away from his grasp. It was then he realized that he was looking at his own foot, and before he could register shock or cry out, the veteran Razor died, bleeding out onto the spacecraft floor.

Leeds, also surprised by the flash, found himself suddenly immobile, and still unaware of the slaughter of his NCO. At that moment, his comm unit flared to life, and Darius Steeles voice thundered in his ears. He tongued the comm unit, and replied.

"Captain, Leeds here...things are going fubar sir, we found a new target and pursued, and...oh frag, Drixon is dead sir, he's dead, cut in half, oh God, sir he's still looking at me..."

"LEEDS! Focus man, focus! What is the current situation?" thundered Steele, frustrated by his inability to act.

"Yessir", whimpered Leeds, "sir, they've immobilised me somehow, and killed Drixon. The target is Admiral Kanosis sir, we followed them into their ship...then he turned into a rabbit."

"A rabbit??" asked Steele, incredously.

"Yessir, a little furry bunny. Sir. Sending visual record now."

Steele watched in amazement as the recording replayed the actions of the last few minutes. He made a quick decision.

"Leeds, put me on speaker." Steele heard a click, and saw the green light indicating that he was cleared to broadcast.

"Admiral Kanosian, this is Darius Steele. I want to speak with you. Man to man. No reason for this "misunderstanding" to get further out of hand."

As he was speaking, Darius keyed in the numerical sequence that gave him control of Leed's Razor unit. He then waited for Kanosis's response, the outcome of which would decide what Steele's next move would be.

In the area surrounding it was mostly residential buildings. Beyound that were hill that separated the seaside colony from the jungles. Up there was the governers house and a large research facility.

He kept replaying the images in his head: Drixon and Leeds following the 2 men into their ship, getting the drop on them before a blinding flash, the sudden appearance of Kanosian's strange blade which cut Drixon in half, slicing through the Razor suit as if it paper, Leeds being captured in what appeared to be a force-field of sorts...

...and of course, the space bunny.

Steele would have laughed out loud at the absurdity of the situation if not for the fact that one of his best operatives and long-time friends lay dead on the ship's deck, and one of his rookies was still in the line of fire. Steele accelerated his light-weight powersuit to maximum and continued in the direction of his captured soldier. He reviewed what data he had on Kanosian, and it was slim pickings indeed. All that was important to Steele was that the disgraced Admiral had a bounty on his head that exceeded a billion credits, and that was a tidy sum, even for Steele.

He could see Tanis keeping pace with him while she downloaded the last message from the mole that had followed Darkholme.

"Ok Cap'n, the mole has disengaged. Once the gas had worn off, he was able to pickup Darkholmes trail by getting info from the street...the last intel he received was that 2 men and a woman were seen leaving the settlement in the opposite direction of the spacedock. One of the men fit the pirates description perfectly. Not much out that way 'cept for lots of thick woods and dangerous wildlife..."

Steele pondered as he ran, digesting this new information. If not for Leeds current predictement, he and Tanis could be at the forests edge within minutes. He cursed his luck silently, and continued towards the dock.

"What could be taking Kanosian so long to reply?" he asked to no one in particular.

The booming voice of Captain Steele commanded ones attention, even over an intercom. Leeds was immediately reassured when he heard his commanders words, and even though he was still immobilized, he had faith that his Captain would pull his ass out of this fire. Leeds waited for Kanosian to reply to Steeles offer, but the rogue ex-Admiral acted as if he hadn't heard anything. The young Razor looked away from Kanosian, to the rabbit that sat in front of him, staring up at him balefully. Leeds cleared his throat:

"Uhmm, lissen...Bugs? Can you hop over and getchyer boss to talk to MY boss...there's a carrot in it fer ya..."

o.o.c Atempt two at the post. SOrry for being gone for so long. Also not space bunny, genetically modified Celackian Psycho rabbit. It's spelled Kanosis

i.c.
The rabbit seemed to jumped into the human's face. When the rabbit was fully in the human's face there was another green flash and loud crack. After this the fully formed Kanosis appeared.

"Mr. Steele the only misunderstanding is why your lackey hasn't droped his weapons and gotten out of his armour, because i'm sure it has built in weapons. If he does that, I will let him go unharmed. If you try to get into my ship if I let him go, then my associate will use the laser turret to reduce you and your friends to bubbling slag. Is there any misunderstanding?"

Thick clouds of smoke hung over Steele's head, the result of his affinity for the small cheroots that he smoked on a regular basis. He and Tanis had been forced to stop briefly because of a minor malfunction in the navigators suit. The atmosphere and planetary conditions were tough on the modified Razor units, despite the constant maintenance they underwent. As soon as Steele heard Kanosis' voice, he signalled Tanis to patch into his comm unit, took another long drag of his cigar and replied:

"Admiral, once again I apologise for the actions of my men. With all due respect, you DO have a rather large bounty on your head, and my men were just doing their jobs. That being said, you and your ship are NOT my targets, and I don't really have a large interest in taking you in."

Except for that nice payday, thought Steele as he paused to make sure he still had remote system control of Leeds exo-suit.

"As for my operative, seeing as you have immobilized him in some sort of stasis field, it's hard for him to disarm himself since HE CAN'T MOVE!" Steele caught himself before he lost his temper completely. He needed Kanosis' cooperation if he wanted to get his man out of there alive.

"Admiral, my team and I are here to go after some pirates, pure and simple. I have no quarrel with you, despite the fact you just killed one of my men. I think it would be in your best interests to simply release your captive, let him walk out of there, and we'll go our seperate ways. I'm sure you have more important things to do with your time?"

As he waited for the rogue Admirals reply, Steele looked towards the towering forests where his real targets were getting farther and farther away from him.

Kanosis raised his sword and turned off the forcefield.

"Move." Kanosis pointed to the hatchway." Any attempt to attack me will result in your death. Understood? Also I am alergic to carrots so you threw a death threat at me. Do it again and you will lose your ability to procreate."

"Getchyer ass back to the drop-point, and wait for extraction. Move it, soldier!" To Tanis he said, "we're moving out, after Darkholme. Whatever is happening at the dock is no longer our concern."

"I haven't lost my mind, navigator...Kanosis' time will come, just not today. We can find him anytime we want now..."

Steele tongued the communicator once again.

"Oh, and Admiral? I know that you are probably hoping to examine the gear of my dead soldier, but I wanted to let you know that in about 30 seconds, it will self-destruct in a very loud and messy way. Have a nice day!"

Steele cut the communications with the criminal Admiral before he could reply, and made one last call, this time to the provisions store at the spaceport.

Leed's had just time enough to grab what was left of his partner before the world began to explode around him. His mind tried to comprehend how a ship of that size could not only get airborne so quickly, but also get in a position to start attacking the customs station at the dock...but after the space-bunny incident in the ship, Leeds would believe anything.

He watched the ship weave in and out, pelting the dock with destructive force. The young man in the Raven suit stopped running, gently laying his friends remains on the ground. He slowly stood and turned very deliberately.

Leeds snapped his V4 Launchers into place, and powered up the tracking sub-system. The V4 was a shoulder-mounted fire-and-forget missile, that tracked its target unerringly at sub-sonic speeds. It was completely invisible to all known types of radar, and had its own defensive AI rendering it virtually unstoppable. It carried a Chameleon Warhead, a device able to adjust its payload on the fly, and learn from experience. Leeds flicked the lock toggle, and Kanosis' ship appeared on his heads-up display, outlined in the red targeting cuticle. At this distance, there was no way the missiles would be stopped, or that they could miss their target.

With a grim smile on his face, Leeds whispered:

"Heroes for Hire always get the last word: Drixon says "frag you!"

Leeds braced himself as 2 pairs of V4 launched themselves from his shoulder and quickly closed the gap on their target. Even as he fired them, Leeds was turning away from the dock and running towards his extraction point, Razor suit dialed up to maximum.

<< OOC - the Raven Battlesuit comes in many configurations and sizes. Most have shoulder mounts that can be loaded with missiles, gatling guns and the like. The Raven is an amalgam of many technologies, most of which are easily available and in use in Space RP's. The suit Leeds and Drixon were wearing were the Heavy Battlesuit-type.

You said "Stealth Gear, loudspeakers, super spead, super strengh, AMrour plating, weapons, and a Rocket launcher with 4 rockets? Ans these rockets have multiple warhead's, homing devices, Radr avoidance technology, and sofisticated AI? Jesus H Christ, that is Fucking impossible man. "

Ok...Stealth Gear: think something along the lines of the Predators suit...I'll agree that this aspect of the suit is the most questionable.

Loudspeakers: these take virtually no room.

Super-speed: this is an exo-skeleton...of course it will have increased speed!

Super-strength: yup, the good, ole exo allows you to be somewhat stronger.

Armor-plating: It IS a battle-suit, of course it will have armor.

Weapons: weapons modules can be added and subtracted at will. This is a BATTLE suit...of course weapons can be attached.

Multiple Warheads: The missile launchers hold 2 missiles each, for a total loadout of four. Each missile is about 16 inches long, and weigh about a pound. Two shoulder mounts makes 4 total missiles. Sounds reasonable to me.

Chameleon Warhead and AI: C'mon, AI on weaponry exists TODAY. This is just a smarter version. The Chameleon Warhead is a warhead that is self-adjusting in-flight if necessary: it can be a simple concussive explosive, it can detonate an EMP wave and it is nuclear tipped. Again, all these technologies are in existance now, so it does not take much imagination to conceive that this product is possible.

As I said, I did not want to have this type of discussion...I'm here to RP. I think if we want to look at REALISM, most here would agree my Raven Battlesuit is more realistic than a guy that goes schizo and sprouts a space bunny from his ass. But hey...I ain't calling you on this. If this is how your world works, cool, I can live with it.

In terms of cost, Heroes for Hire is a massive security firm, catering to planetary governments and private citizens. They have offices, and operatives throughout the galaxy. Bounty hunting is a small but lucrative part of their business. Current estimated revenue for HoH this year is in excess of 9 Billion credits...and another tidy Billion once I catch up to you! Most of the equipment used by HoH, including the Raven suits, were received as partial payment for services rendered. So again, everything is realistic here... >>

o.o.c. Some of my larger ships have something call Smaller ship bays(SSB). These bays can hold either dropships or smaller ships like frigates, escort cruisers, destroyers, ETC. The hole in the centre is the bays. A battlecruiser has 2, a battleship has 4 and a dreadnought has 8. Celack class flagships have clsoe to twelve and some troop transports have fifty, usually used to carry dropships.

(OOC: Thanks, Celack...)

Although the Dunkerque could have given the Celackian battlecruiser a run for its money, the crew decidely quickly to allow them to take care of Kanosis, while the Dunkerque moved closer into orbit of the planet, the better to assist the marines in the capture of the pirate named Darkholme...

OOC: I have returned. So Draconis, how do you want to do this? Are they ever going to get to Darkholme's ship?

IC: Tzigane followed Sparrow but then paused. She didn't like the fact that her new boss was nowhere to be found. She needed that job. Both for pay and for fresh nourishment. Tzigane was running out of money, and the only blood she had was old and cold, and there wasn't much of that left either. She stopped Sparrow and gave him her bag, a small thermos poking out. "Here, hold this, I'm going to climb a tree." Within a few minutes she had started climbing. It took her a little while to get to a good height. Off in the distance, she saw something moving about.

Captain Sparrow just shrugged as he took the bag from her. Watching the rather strange woman climb the tree, he already knew that Captain Darkholme was long gone.

"Your wasting your time missy," he remarked.

Tzigane knew that she could not reach the movement in the distance she knew to be captain Darkholme. She wasn't fast enough. So she swore and climbed back down the tree. Before she took her bag back from Sparrow, she opened the thermos and took a few sips.

"Do you know where his ship is, or where he might be going?" she said as she put the thermos away and wiped the blood from her lips.

"'Fraid not," Captain Sparrow replied. "Keeps his ship out of view somewhere, never seen it."

As the sixty fighters and interceptors from the Dunkerque screamed over the Tortuga DN colony, their beautiful, but lethality evident to everyone on the planet. The marines coldly accepted this support as they continued to make their way into the colony, as the frigate slowly prepared to hold a close geosynchronic orbit to the colony, its powerful guns prepared for planetary bombardment.

Meanwhile, Captain Veneti smirked as a full detachment of 500 marines exited the docking complex and into the main colony...

The kitsefa sat in the fighter bay. It had not moved for over 10 minutes. No signs of life were seen. The Royal Celackian marines had cut through the hull of the ship and sweeping the interior. On the bridge a young officer ran up to the captain.

"Sir I've been reviewing the video of Kanosis' capture. I felt something wasn't right. They launched an escape pod."

"Bastarfuco! Get me the 5CN captain. I wish to make a deal"

Meanwhile.

The escape pod dropped throught the sky towards the jungle. At the last possible moment it deployed a parachuteand drifted to the ground, settling next to a large tree.

Captain Darkholme saw the escape pod land somewhere far off from where he was still sat on the branch of a tree. He knew it couldn't be good, since there was no evidence of an explosion much before the escape pod appeared through the atmosphere then he knew that whoever it was, was escaping from something. As long as its occupants stayed away from the area he was currently in he wouldn't be in trouble.

Captain Sparrow sighed as he marched up along the river, thankfully the bank was more or less bare so there wasn't any obstructions. He hurried on ahead, he wasn't going to slow down for anyone.

"Sometimes I don't understand that bastard Darkholme," he muttered to himself. "Acts like he's fucking royalty sometimes."

A rogue Hachet Class Mecha V.5 from The Empire of Dracoinus is perched overlooking a small river bank. Its pilot, one Kalehd Kisher of the 104th regiment (the dreaded Silver Hawks) sits pondering life. His mecha standing at ready.

Kalehd was always a rebellious one, this led to his squad being dispatched to this crap hole of a rock. The rest of his squad is busying scaning the wooded area for contraband.

Kalehd's ATWS alert suddenly starts to sound and his mecha moves to launch mode. Kalehd looks out and scans down the area of the river, when he spots several life forms making their way up the side of the river bank...

Kalehd notices the odd attire of the humanoids walking up the river bank, they appear to by oblivious of his Mecha as well as him. (I guess having a mecha with rocky red and brown coloring that blends fairly well with the surrounding canyon wall helps).

Kalehd seems fairly amused by their attire, (lets have some fun.. he thinks to himself.. setting his Auto Rifle to 'smoke'. Kalehd fires off a few burst from his rifle.. in this mode a burst of solid hydrogen mixed with phospherous produces a type of tracer round that is non-lethal but visually dramatic)

Kalehd watches as the quick bursts of 'smoke' rounds find their targets.

.. the effects of a 'smoke' round are, a smokey contrail do to the phospherous reacting with the ambient air at high velocity and the solid hydrogen which is kept in a suspended state within the weapon because of a high flux magnetic field begins to lose its magentic bonding and upon impact the hydrogen converts into a "splash" of water on the target as well as providing a mild electrical jolt.

"Well, I was down trying to swindle someone out of some supplies, namely condoms and booze, the captain, who was sometimes less than careful, had a run in with the authorities.
