The men worked silently, as always. They had been waiting many moons for this oppourtunity... few of the original men and elves of the Order still survived, the years and the purges having taken their toll. But the secret had been passed down through the years... and now, finally, after decades of waiting, their master would be returned.

The subject for the experiment was a recently killed elf, whose details had closely matched the lost Master. His skin had been boiled away, the organs removed and foul magics used to heal the death wound to the bones. Now, the ritual would commence.

The chanting was alien to both elves and men, more animal than the utterances of an intelligent lifeform. Lightning flashed, and for the first time in almost eighty years the sound of life eched through the halls of the ruined Wolf Tower.

~~

How long has it been... The lost soul thought, drifting in the unfathomable void, that great abyss of terror. ...could not have been that long...not to one who seen the light of the trees...

Light flashed suddenly, and briefly there was a picture in the void...a picture of men and elves bowing their heads and praying...just briefly. To the forsaken soul, kept both from the halls of Mandos and from oblivion by a twisted perversion of his own magic, it might as well have been a dream.

...what's this? The dream returned...and strengthened...and there was a feeling...something dragging him...

~~

As the survivors of the Order of the Ruby watched, awed, the empty sockets of the skull suddenly flashed with a cursed red light...

The eyes flashed, briefly, twice more.

Then they came into full life, a baleful red glow that looked out from hollow sockets, a hollow voice booming from an open jaw. I live...bone and soul... I AM ALIVE!

The skeleton horribly began to animate itself, its component parts held together by a crackling energy.

The gathered acolytes bowed low, and one of them murmured, "We live but to serve...Lord Merrech..."

The House of FĂ«aelen, Saa-em-keb.

The terminal bleeped, and a young adept, in ornate silvered armour,

"My Lady."

"Yes?"

"The Order has detected something else on Earth."

"Dispatch a ship."

"One already orbits Earth Milady."

"Can it be spared?"

"Negative Milady, it's mission is far more important than this one, this one involves Roania."

"Roania? Typical. Send another ship, make covert planetfall then search and destroy."

The small corvette shot from the hellish enviroment of Netu like a bullet, on its way. The hunt was afoot.
