The Ruler Unveiled (Open)

Northwestern Liang
28-06-2004, 03:12
After all these years of seclusion in the bowels of Sauranero in darkness, feeding on prisoners and failed clones, making my will known through the demon king I subdued long ago, I have had enough. I have made my intentions clear to Yorinaga, and all has been readied. Of course, he didn't like it, but why should he? His period of mostly direct rule is over, and now I am coming into the open. I wonder how the world should react to a magnificent thing such as myself? How I have missed the feel of gold! It shall be mine again soon enough.

The man finished his journal writing, which was all in Old Draconic, with the signature he had used for countless thousands of years.

Angnár, the Iron Flame, worm of the First Age, lord of the Domain

This is Trisha Takinawa, outside the majestic city of Sauranero, where our great Lord Dao Yorinaga has given practically the entire universe the announcement that something big, something very big, will be going on here. Rumors are flying everywhere, from a final unveiling to the new prisons under Sauranero, to a declaration of war on Whittier, to a major policy change, but massive crowds are already gathering. Yorinaga is reputed to have said this conference will be life-changing, but for who exactly is unknown. Back to you Diane."

"Thanks, Trisha. In other news, some asshat has downed a television cable in..."

As the massive crowds gather about the podium stationed right in front of one of the entrances to the underground tunnels of Sauranero, a video screen hung a small but immobile crane shows an enlarged picture of Messenger Dao Yorinaga. Only the highly religious or high up in the government believe he is what his title suggests. For as long as anyone can remember, it is the demon king who has 'ruled' Liang. All fall silent as the Lord strides up to the podium, and a sense of being dazed falls over all who watch him.
"Friends! Today I introduce you to the ancient being who has watched over us for thousands of years. In ancient eras past all have fell down in awe, fear, and awesome respect for the Ruler who now shows himself to you. I present, for your approval, the Iron Flame, Lord Angnár, Ruler of the Draconic Domain of Northwestern Liang!”
At this, not a word is heard in practically the entire Domain. People check their calendars to make sure it was not April 1, and remained glued to the TV.
Everyone remained quiet as a tall, heavily tanned man in a dark, red-lined robe, with black hair and red pupils moved up the podium, emerging from the pit behind Yorinaga as the demon stepped down and away, motioning to all in a very large radius that they should do the same.
The man spoke, but his voice was not his own. It was loud, very loud, and sounded majestic, regal, and somewhat…superior. Most Liangites simply remained in awe, somewhat dazed at the man’s appearance, noticing something odd but unable to put their finger on it. He spoke of Liangite history in eons past, of his coming to Liang in glory. Most of them had been present at the demon’s speeches and thought them the most spellbinding thing known to man: they were blown away by this man, by this… Angnár. Most had no idea of what he spoke of, hearing only vague fragments, and barely noticing when he said “and now, having heard all of that, allow me to show you what I am: one of the Uruloki.”
Slowly the man backed away from the podium, but though his height should have decreased as he moved farther away, it did not. Indeed, the man shot up further and further, his skin darkened until it was blacker than the chamber he had rested in and became harder than steel, wings and a tail formed on his back, grew larger and extended. His mouth elongated into a huge snout, full of razor-bladed teeth, and little sparks emitted from his mouth. His hands grew till they matched his legs, and the entire gargantuan beast revealed what it had always been: a dragon, a worm of the First Age, and the most powerful at that. Lord Angnár approached ten stories high, and many times longer as his elegant tail grew longer. His massive wings lifted him into the air so he did not reach the crowd with his form. A column of fire issued from his maw, as he flew backwards and landed. He stretched his neck and then spoke again, and all knew where the massive voice had emanated from earlier. Again he spoke, again all were mesmerized, and the great worm lifted off into the skies to stretch his long closed wings. When he came back down again, he instructed them of his future plans for the nation, dismissed them, and announced that Liang would be accepting any foreign embassies.
Following this, he curled his form into a ball, and fell into a deep sleep.
