The previously 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm NATO M8 weapons will be set to a default 6.8mm Directorate. The M8 system will continue to be functional in the other calibers, but the M8A1 will be issued in default 6.8mm Directorate.

(The 6.8mm Directorate will be 6.8 * 45mm, slightly longer than the 6.8 * 43mm Barret SPC. This should not be confused with the Sag Special Purpose Assault Rifle, the Sag 2, which is chambered in 6.8mm Caseless.)

A small note:

Nova Hope, your armies are being equipped with the M8A1 from the start, so this conversion does not pertain to you.

To all other Directorate nations: the conversion kit to bring the old M8 weapons up to M8A1 level is a simple $200 purchase per gun, and can be installed in under three minutes in the field. This kit is not patented by one company, and can be produced from any Directorate arms company to reduce overhead.

To any other nation utilizing Directorate weapons: you must purchase the conversion kit from either Sag Arms Corporation or Armatech Corporation if you wish to utilize the new caliber.

All the M8A1 weapons will continue to be functional in 5.56mm and 7.62mm.

Armed Lumberjacks has begun the conversion to the new system.

On another note we will miss the 7.62 caliber but hope the new round will catch on quickly with the lumberjacks.
