"Many of the public are outraged that the recently enthroned King purchased his mistress, Kaer Katana, a $15 million dollar diamond necklace. One of the most expensive diamond necklaces ever made in Aerion. Some are outraged that the new King, which they placed on the throne in the place of the old military dictatorship would spend so much on a necklace when there is rampant poverty throughout the capital city. Many fear that this government will be corrupt as the last, some say that it is good that the King is showing the nation's wealth."

Dr. Rothesen, Professor of Politicial Science and Public Policy at the University of Areu stated, "It is obvious that this King will be as corrupt as the last. The past four regimes were corrupt, why should the people expect any better than the Royal Family. There is still debate over rather or not the Royal Family was actually held against their will at the Royal Estate by the older regimes after all, or rather if they worked in coalition with them. The age old attitude of the Aerion elite is reflected in the architecture of the capital city of Astevane. The poorer slummy areas, with massive dilapted skyscrapers housing thousands of people, and even small tent and hut cities is placed on one side of the river. On the other side of the river you have the massive mansions, palaces, and all the other pleasurable establishments that have been enjoyed by every Aerion regime so far. There is a reason each new government establishes themself in the extremely lavish Central Palace after all, now renamed Royal Palace of Aerion"

The Royal Family has every right to spend what they want to meet these ends. We must not show a poor, weak society. We must show a strong one.
