Welcome to Endgate
((This is an open RP... if you have characters who've died who could have wound up in Hell, or some other eternal punishment, feel free to play them here. I'll explain more IC.))
The brilliant tunnel of light is so cliche it's a joke. But it's real. The doctors say it's just your brain shutting down, that the part of your brain that sees hallucinates the tunnel of light. They're wrong. It's pain, the pain of the final moment before death, when all your life is a searing needle in your head, driving away all thought just before the black. The light is real, but it's not the end.
"Welcome to Endgate," someone says. Whoever it is has said that before, at least once, and seeing as I'm busy trying to get that agony out of my brain, I wish they'd stop it.
Getting jerked to my feet doesn't help with the pain, and neither do the quick punches that set my ears to ringing, but I keep my feet and manage to look my tormentor in the eye. Big mistake. The room dances around me in a most unappealing manner. The red thing holding me up doesn't seem to mind when I totter to the corner of the room to retch. Jesus, I hate dry heaving.
"What... where am I?" I manage to spit out.
"Welcome to Endgate," I almost say it with him. Shoulda known. This time, the little thing apparently has more to say, though. "You died. Here now, in Endgate. Go, time to work."
I don't have time to ask what he means when he shoves me out of the little room, onto a street. The sky is red at the zenith, and darkens to black at the horizon, like an open wound necrotising around the edges. The stones paving the street give a little, screaming when I step on them. This place gives me the creeps.
And suddenly, I'm not alone. All around me there are hundreds of people, thousands, hurrying and going about their business. Hulking monstrosities wade through the crowd. Jesus, that thing tore that guy's legs off.
The street runs straight as an arrow. I can see what's at the end: some kind of portal made of obsidian, it must be miles high. There's something silvery between the obsidian spires, and it looks kind of like a face. It's hard to tell, 'cause the whole thing is almost drowned out by the shining radiance of the two beings standing beside the towers. They must be angels. I've never seen anyone so beautiful, or so frightening. Guards. They're guarding the gate.
Welcome to Endgate.

OOC: Sounds good! Nice piece of introductory work, if I may say so...
IC:
Carl Hirk lay on the street, gurgling.
Aww hell... this is the end. Why'd I have to get into all this? Why couldn't I have stayed away from the mob? Best look at the damage...
Hirk managed to see a small portion of his chest, soaked in blood and peppered with holes.
He turned his head slightly, and vomited.
Scream for help. The ambulance'll come and patch me up.
He opened his mouth to scream, but all that came out was a wet gurgle. Some blood frothed out.
Christ, a bullet through my neck. How'm I even breathing? What's this? A light? No, not now! Not now!
"NOT NOW!" Scream Hirk, who stopped abruptly. He was talking? He opened his eyes, then wished he hadn't.

(OOC: #tagged. Mind if I join later?)
((Feel free to join in. It's open.))
A month. It's been a month since I decorated the grill of a big rig and wound up in this pit. God, I want a cigarette, or a beer. Something to take my mind off the sky. It's raining again, blood this time. There's nothing like the feeling of waking up in a gutter, soaked to the bones in sticky blood after a night of dodging things trying to eat you.
I hate this place, but I guess that's kind of the point.
I learned to avoid the big bastards early on. The ones that look like monkeys with bull heads. They're not too bright, but they're vicious and strong. Actually, it's a pretty good idea to avoid anything that doesn't look human, and most of the humans, too.
However did it come to this? Hell. This must be Hell. Something's made the beasts running this place really nervous, though. A bunch of them got up and just left a few weeks ago, and they haven't come back. The gateway, they call it the Endgate here, it's definitely more active. Something keeps trying to push through. The angels are getting nervous, too. Wonder why the bastards running this place don't attack them.
Shit, time to run. They found me again

Ooh, definite tag! Maybe I'll get involved.
Dinh finally died. For the last few months he had been on the run, the only person out of millions to survive Aust's attacks. Later he had been told that over 700 million had died.
They had found him, next to his mums still warm body, she had been killed by strapnel from a rocket bomb. He had only been knocked unconcous and had awoken a slave of Aust.
Luckly, the Prince, who he had been sent to serve was a good man and had set the boy free. But the Emporer could not let the only person with that knowlage escape and had hunted him down, finally against a ally wall he had been shot down, no chance.
A blinding tunnel of light soared down and a voice boomed, " Welcome to Endgate
OOC: What are the limits as far as magic and the sort go?
((Magic is permitted, but anyone who threatens the balance of power in Endgate had best beware the demon keepers. Of course, someone could always try to tear down the obsidian towers shielding the gate itself with magic...))
Oh god, I think I'm going to be sick. Yeah... yeah, I'm definitely going to be sick. Jesus. I stagger away from the corpse to lean against the wall of the alley. Something had gnawed on the poor bitch after she died. I wonder what happens when a soul dies. Then again, no, I don't want to know. Best not to think about that sort of thing here. God help her, if God even has a say in whatever happens to her anymore. There's a pleasant thought.
I still hate dry heaves. I need to puke, but nothing's coming. I haven't eaten or slept since I got here. I'm starting to get really hungry, but it doesn't look like anybody gets any food around here. Except for the corpses that got to her.
It isn't Hell. Hell is neat and orderly, a nicely regimented place where the souls of the damned can be tortured forever, efficiently. This place is worse. I don't know where it is, but it can't be Godforsaken because I honestly don't think God's ever laid eyes upon it.
I slip out of the alley, into the network of near-tunnels that wind among the buildings and open into little grottoes. It's safer than the streets, where any passing demon can have its way with you. Just have to stay out of the shadows.
Oh god, there's another, another corpse. I need to get out of here before the ghouls come back.

Shalashaska opens his eyes. what...is this place? i remember being lined up against a wall, and a bright flash of light, then..this. Is...this hell? what have i done in life to deserve this? and, what should i do now?, am i required to endure torture if this is indeed hell?
OCC: Tagged, I'll have a post later right now I need to ... What's that thing called when you lie down and close your eyes and then get up later and feel good? It' s been so long since I've done that...
OOC: Alright, my character shall have some limited magical abilities, enough to defend himself anyway.
IC: Quin awoke with a satisfied grin upon his face, expecting to meet his master in the depths of the underworld, where all servants of Nez'gah appeared when they departed the world of the living. Instead he was met by the words "Welcome to Endgate". This wasn't expected, causing the smile to quickly vanish from his pale face.
Quin had been serving the demon lord Nez'gah for the past 15 years and had expected to arrive in the underworld where he would be rewarded for his loyal and successful service. For reasons unknown to him, this was not the case.
Imbued with semi-demon abilities, Quin quickly shook off the pain of his death and calmed himself. He needed to figure out what was going on and how to take advantage of it. Stepping out onto the street, Quin was greeted with some very interesting sights indeed. A massive portal, angels, thousands of figures, some demon breed that he recognised, others completely new to him. This would prove interesting indeed.
Is this rp going anywhere?
OOC: I'll try to revitalise it.
IC: God this place really is hell. Dinh thought, his head against the wall. What had he done to deserve this? Have I been bad in a past life. I had only killed a few people in self defence. Still I'm here. And somethings up, somethings trying to get through the gate. Everyone, even the angles and things are scared and panicy. And as if things couldn't get anyworse, I've got a headache.
The maved away, trying to avooid a bunch of murders that where coming along. They began to chase him. oh crap. I really hate them. His head felt like it was going to explode, then, a beam of white light seemed to streak out from his hands. He covered his eyes, not used to such brightness, when it had gone there where no murderers, nothing! Just some ashes. Did I do that. I must have, and the white light...Magic? How did I do it like..
He tried again,a and found he could command the beams at will, strange he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed. A voice seemed to be in his mind.
When he comes to punish the sinners. Get those that have done no wrong out. Find them, convince them. Use the left passage. You can do what you want if you put your mind to it.

"Wellcome to end game"
Bale got up on his feet, the actuall landing hadnt hurt that mutch. It was the laying still on the ground that hurted like hell.
"Yea well, fuck you" he replied, brushing of his clothes. When he got back he would kick that mutherfu..
Bale looked up, the thing was tall, yea.. thing, it was a thing, defenently a thing. It wouldnt be a he or a she, not even a who. It was a thing, and the thing spoke, well it used to speak, now it just looked at him.
This isnt the corner of 14th and 15th.. he thought before the thing grabbed him and lifted him up.
"No time to fuck, work!"
Bale blinked before he was tossed into a street, where alot.. alot of people walked around realy stressed. And oh, there was a demon going on and doing his bui--.
A FREAKIN DEMON?! he though. I gotta get out of this shit.. afterlife or not.. this shit is just baaaad
"you! Work!" A demonlookingcorpsedude stood over him pointing his finger at him.
"err, excuse me" he said while getting up on his feet for the seccond time. "I aint gonna work shit, my black ass aint made for workin bro' so you can just shut the fu--"
The demon looked at him with intense, dead, eyes.
"Okay, Im just gonna go of to work now" and with that he turned around and just ran as fast as he could. As fast as hell.
I was born, I grew up, I lived a good life. I never stole anything from anyone that didnt allready have a whole bunch of it. No no no, hell aint for me
He ran across the street into a backalley, through it out on another street. Bale could hear the demoncorpsedude loosing him, turning a corner he stumbeled over some guy who just laid there on the ground.
"Hey bro', you better get up on your feets cuz this shit it WIERD!"
Bale shook his head, mabye if I do a load of good deeds as mom said, I'll go to heaven or sumthin
Bale grabbed the guys shoulders and lifted him up, up on his shoulders and began to run as fast as he could with a big guy over his shoulder.
"you know bro', you can wake up any momeny now.. aaaanyyyy moment. I dont have a problem with that, noo.. not at all"
OOC: Aust, that would be you ;)
Is this rp going anywhere?
((Yes. Yes it is.))
I'm so tired. So tired of running. I can't remember the last time I slept. I can't remember what it's like to sleep. So hungry, so thirsty. My skin is dry, I can feel it flaking away, leaving raw and sore flesh exposed to the air of this place. I can hear the demons in my mind, laughing at my pain.
I don't want to die again.
I'm sitting in one of my alleys. There are several of us, now, me and a few others. I've heard them whisper about other bands like us, people who died and don't belong here. I hear a laugh, a hoarse, braying sound. I can't make myself care if they find me anymore. I just want to sleep...
I force my eyes to focus on the book in front of me. A journal. I stole it from some kind of storehouse in the heart of the city, and I had to hide for a week before the patrols stopped looking for me.
This used to be a mortal city, in the world of the living. They came here, and they tore it out of space and time. They tried to rip the world apart, and wound up trapped here. They had the help of someone named Sylv Bloodhand. I think he's still alive, still trapped in one of the huge towers that frame the Endgate. He could help. I don't know how, but he... he...
God, it's hard to think. I just... just want to sleep... just...
Dinh woke up. He was moving what the hell. He looked down he could see feet below him, his? No Someone else's. He was swaying, was he being carried. He tried to turn to look but his neck ached. He had to guess that he was. Behind him, big deamon guy.
He rembered something Bringht light, hands. then it came back, the whole thing. The light, the voice. Well Dinh thought. looks like I found one of those guys now. A nice guy. Of course, he could be a kidnapper or a rapist, or someone who likes doing things with kids, but I may as well help him.
"You can put me down now."
"You awake kid."
"Yes." The man dropped him and carried on running. The deamon passed Dinh, almost knocking him down. Then, the headache again. And BAM! The white light. It caught the deamon in the back. Vaporising him instantly.
Danneland
29-07-2004, 21:53
BAM! Bale's instinct told him to drop to the ground. And so he did, putting his hand over his head, closing his eyes and waiting for the final judgement. How occuard it was to get killed in hell. He waited a few moments and then turned his head, slowly opening his eyes. And there was nothing but that guy who he had carried erlier.
Bale got up on his feet and totaly confused he walked up to the man.
"um.. wha.. the..fu..um.. bro' .. there was like a big, big, big" his mind couldnt find the words as he looked behind the guy, infront of him and then straight at him.. "demon"..
Then it struck him, he was still alive! "Im alive, yes.. Im alive..you'r alive.. and we are all alive.." but then another thing struck his mind, im in hell
"Yo bro'.. you got any idea what the hell this is? cuz one moment I got droped from a roof and the next thing I know Im in heeeeell, Im bein chased by deeemooons 'n all the people are just to ugly and wierd.. so Im like, wha the fuck.."
He scratched his head and looked around, "Now I dont know, but I bet that, that wasnt the last dem demon figures.. so talk 'n walk bro' cuz we need to find somewhere to crash"
OOC: Oh, this is so .::TAGed::.
Dinh, didn't reply. He was concentrating on something else. Namely the big nasty Deamon reaching out to grab Bale in the back of the neck. Dinh lifted his hands and the ligh came out again, severing the seamons arm from it's shoulders. The deamon ran. And Dinh spoke to the strange man, "I agree, we do need to find somewhere to stay. I've been staying on the streets for the most of the time." The man just stared.
"You, light deamon." Was all he said.
Quin moved forth from a dark building and appeared next to the two men, eyeing Dinh with caution. That one possessed magiks, but they weren't demonic so he could be a possible agent of the higher realms, an enemy.
So far these were the first humans he had encountered and thought it best to make some contact. Quin was a man of early fourties with greying brown hair seemed to have a mind of it's own. He was rather large from his constant physical activities and stood at 6'4". Quin wore simple black robes, able to hide many things within the secret pockets he had sewed himself.
"Good evening gentlemen, I assume you're new to this world as well?"

Bale blinked a few houndred times due to the flash of light. "Bro'.. you could warn be before you go all light on me.." a few moments passed by and he could see again. Then the guy spoke "You, light deamon."
"me light what? bro' we need work on your conversation skills, my name is Bale, whats u'rs?"
Then some strange dude walked up to them.
"Good evening gentlemen, I assume you're new to this world as well?"
"Haaeeeell yea I'm new, 'n I dun like it one bit. Who be you?" Bale took one step back, incase it was a demon in discuise (sp?).
"yes," Dinh said. "we are, and who are you?" His vision was going funny again, now he could see through people. He could see Bale's heart was white and so was his own. But the strangers was black, like the deamons. Strange, I wonder what it means. "I'm Dinh and I don't know his name."
BUMP. Looks like I got this thread going.

Bale looked around, they were an a random street between two buildings, there was that alley where they came from. Now what, where to go?
anywhere but here
"Look, we dont have time to stand here and talk about the weather, lets start runnin 'n talkin' on the same time" he pointed towards a house "lets try to go inside, I mean.. it cant be worse than on the outside.. can it?"
Quin greeted both men, but didn't take his eyes of Dinh. He definitely had some powers that were more than likely opposite to his, Dinh was a threat to Quin, and he didn't like that one bit.
"I am Quin, I too have just recently arrived here to my dismay. Tell me Dinh, where did you learn to do such things?"

Dinh began walking with Bale towards the house. "A few hpours ago. i sort of got my head hurting then, a deamon chased me and I shot him with the light. Then I sort of went faint and a voice came into my head and.."
The voice again. Beware of the Black hearted one. He can help and hinder.
Quin moved into pace with the two men as Dinh spoke. He smiled slightly, knowing that this one wasn't an experienced demon hunter or anything of the sort, but he did have powers of the light.
"I see, well they are useful talents indeed, you should master them quickly if you intend to stay alive around here."
Quin looked around, noticing the bones of several creatures scattered across the ground. He needed to know more about this Endgate...

Dinh was wondered about the strange man. They reached the doorway and went inside. He flicked a light switch. It didn't work. "We could do with some light."
Quin smiled, he could handle something as easy as light, even though he didn't need it.
"I can take care of such."
Placing a palm upward, a small orb of light green energy sprang into life, casting an eerie glow throughout the room. The orb slowly rose toward the battered ceiling, casting the glow downwards so most of the room would be visible. Although it was indeed light, there was an unwholesome feature about it that tended to disturb those not of a demonic nature, but it wouldn't do any harm.
"That should do us. So do you guys know anything about this Endgate?"
Danneland
02-08-2004, 01:07
"End what?" Bale looked at Quin's green little orb. The room itselfe was quite hostile, old furniture, worn down walls, dirt.. and the smell. "Hell it stinks!.. what is that smell?!" Bale looked around and pushed away a box that layed ontop of something.. a corpse appeard, it seemed as it had been laying there for some months. "shit.. this is ju getting more and more creepy" and then his eyes spotted somthing that he did see as good news, under a table layed a gun. He picked it up.. "hm.. strange, it aint dusty or nothin.. like the rest of this crib, like if someone put it there moments ago" he checked the clip. "filled with bullets to.. ya'll do your mumbo jumbo, 'n I'll do the shootin'"
Quin turned a glare toward Bale.
"The Endgate. Weren't you paying attention when you arrived here. You are welcomed to Endgate before being shoved out of the building and onto the street."
Quin eyed the gun cautiously. He could defend himself against such a weapon as long as he knew it was coming, if he were to be shot in the back... that would create problems.
Dinh wasn't sure he trusted Bale, and he certainly didn't trust the man with a gun. "Mate, put the gun down."
Hoping tht Bale would do as he said he turned to Quin, "Do you have any idea where this place is?" The Green glow was hurting him, he could feel it. He need to stop it. He raised one hand and fired a single burst of white light at the orb. shattering in. For somereason after he did that, the elteric lights came on.

Bale looked at Dinh "I found, 'n I'll keep it. unlike you I dont have no super magical powers to fight of 'dem baaad demons. His face turned towards Quin "you mean that dude who threw me into this hole? yea.. I think he said somethin about Endgate.. but I dunno" he took a step back as the lights turned on, the place wich had seem to dirty in the green light. Now it looked discusting, blood stains on the walls. And, more to it, the corpse began to move and moan.
"Yo guys, I dont think that he's supposed to do that.. no no no.. Im realy sure he aint supposed to do that" Bales voice started to get nervous and he pointed the gun at the corpse. Waiting for the others to make a move.
Quin now directed a glare toward Dinh. He obviously had more control over his powers than he thought if he could destroy the orb so easily. Quin now knew two things. Dinh's power was of a light nature and it was stronger than he could grasp. Although slightly disturbing, this didn't present a huge problem to one trained in arcane demonics.
"Yes, I believe he is some sort of keeper."
Quin spun around as the body moaned. He wasn't afraid of such. For all he knew the guy could not have been dead, or maybe it was impossible to die in a world between worlds. Or there was the other option...
"I don't see it doing any harm..."
"I think we should get out of here." Dinh ventured. "This is starting to get freaky. Like a vedio game." He turned and opened a door next to him. it lead to a bathroom. Just like Resi. He thought, the next thing a monsters going to jump out of the bath. And of course that was what happened.
Quin was not troubled by the so called corpse but when the beast jumped out of the bath towards Dinh, he was beginning to grow tired of this situation. Without giving it a second thought, Quin's arm shot upright as a bolt of black lightning arced from his hand and hit the foul creature square in the torso.
The creature hit the tiled wall and collapsed, severely injured but not dead. For some reason Quin didn't want to kill the creature, it wasn't necessary, the beast would have learned it's lesson now.
"Perhaps we should be leaving..."

"I think we should." Dinh replied backing out of the room nervously, looking for any other monsters. He now realised that Quin had the same powers as him, and that he seemed to know lots more about them. He exited the house and made his way into a ally nearby. HE looked up at the endgate, and saw something he didn't want to see. A giant snout was sticking through the gate. And the gate was qurivering trying to hold it back.
I guess this iis that thing that the voice said, time to leave I think. He looked back at Quin and Bale. "Err, guys I think thats not a good thing."
He pointed at the gate. And then saw a small hole in the roof next to it. If only I could fly... he thought.
Quin quickly followed Dinh and Bale outside, only to find Dinh starring at the Endgate. As he turned to investigate, Quin almost dropped his jaw. The Endgate was indeed active and something was attempting to get through. He had noticed angels at the gate before, maybe they would defend it.
He still knew very little about the gate. It appeared to be a portal into another world, but he knew nothing of this other world or what would happen if something passed through it. Finally he turned to the others.
"Where do you think we could find out about this Endgate?"

"Dunno. I don't see anyone around here who we could ask."
Quin pondered this a moment, trying to pick out anything in his memory that would indicate a source of information. Finally the memory of his arrival jumped out.
"The voice. The one that welcomes you to Endgate. He should know something, I'd think so anyway."

"How the hell do we find him in this place. There must be thousands of things here. Millions. We can't ask every one. Most of them would kill us anyway."
Quin shrugged.
"I have a basic memory of where I went from the moment I woke up here. Perhaps we should go back to that building where I first woke up and see if we can find anything."
