The Burning of the Books

Saiogena
15-06-2004, 02:54
By the Order of Her Blessed Majesty, Empress Tzu Yun, the Holy Empress of the Empire of Saiogena and all it's People's the writtings of Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly have been deemed threats to the mental health, well being, and Longevity of the people of the Empire. To this end the Empress has ordered all books, posters, and various items that have anything to do with these evil men and women be burned in public fires to cleanse them of their evil. All radio programs and televisions shows hosted by these people are also banned from the Empire for all of Eternity.

Ten Thousand Years of Long Live to the Empire and It's Empress!

Mei-pei, Imperial Capital:

The fires roared and crackled as a wheelbarrel filled with copies of the banned books were brought from the public library to be burned to purify them of evil, and to purify the Empire. "BURN THEM ALL! BURN THEM ALL! BURN THEM ALL!" was the channting of the crowd that had gathered in Tiemei Square in the very heart of the 5,000 year old city. The crowed roared with laughter as giant effigies of Ann, Bill, Rush, and Sean were thrown into the fire to burn with their evil books. A three year old girl with pigtails threw an Ann Coulter doll into the giant burning inferno with her mother right behind her. The little girl laughed at the way the doll's head melted, just like the real Ann Coulter's head would melt in the depths of Heol.

All across the Empire these bonfires were kept light with the fuel of the banned books. While this was occuring more political works were under investigation, by the order of the Blessed Empress all threats to the mental health of the Empire would be removed. No matter what.

Although initially shocked upon hearing Saiogena was burning books, the Muktari government relaxed upon discovering the authors. Muktar is in full support of this decision.

Though Callisdrun disapproves of such writings, our government finds the practice of mass book burning an appalling affront to free speech and freedom of the press. Everyone has a right to make their voice heard, even when they only spout mindless drivel.

While we disapprove of the suppression of political speech, it is felt by the government of Andolai that this is an internal matter of the government of Saiogena.

The M.S.R. of I. is quite at a loss for how to officially respond to this. The authors are certainly not well liked among the populace; however, it is preferred that they shut up on their own. We don't exactly care for the burning of books, either.

Though if you threw on some Ayn Rand, John Norman, and Ernest Zundel, we would probably forgive you.

The great nation of Taka would like to remind your nation that any government who is willing to burn its books, is a government who is willing to burn its people. Must you shout down politcal dissedents? We, the Takian Empire, are not sympathetic to the cause of these authors, but to silence them before they are given a chance to speak thier mind is not freedom, it is tyrany.

The EOL will gladly replace any copies of these great books to those who wish it. But they must come to the EOL, where conservatism is not frowned upon.

"While the opinions expressed by the particular authors may be offensive and down-right bigoted, we do not openly approved of the mass burning of literature. Just think of the enviromental hazards created! Also, someone could accidentally fall into all of those fires. They're dangerous! Children are sacred; they must be kept safe from the dangers of the world."

The Dictatorship of Shan Yu applauds the actions taken by the Empress Tzu Yun. Political opposition MUST be crushed, brutally if necessary. His Excellency Shan Yu extends an offer to the Empire of Saiogena to relieve them of any political dissidents they wish to be rid of. His Excellency is dismayed by underpopulation of our nation's own prisons, and looks forward to new ... playthings.

The Empress offers her thanks to Wei Fei for his generous offer, in fact we have a hundred political dissidents who refuse to recognize the Authority of Her Blessed Majesty, we were thinking of shooting them but we were worried that the cleaning crew might catch something just awful from their corrupt and tainted bodies.

We will ship them Fed-X right now, be sure to give them little food and water and to make their stay in your country memorable... For however long they might live.

We would like to raise the issue of Human Rights Abuses in Shan Yu and Saiogena.

Crushing dissent through the use of force is a barbaric tactic that causes upheval within a nation, and merely leads to more dissent, causing a viscous cycle that may engulf a nation.

We value Shan Yu and Saiogena as allies, but would like to state our disapproval of the execution and torture of political enemies.

Out of the chaotic fall of the Saiogena Republic the people were willing to restore the monarchy under Princess Tzu Yun who has founded the Chu'pei Imerpial Dynasty (or Pure Butterfly) and has turned our nearly bankrupt national economy into U.N. ranked "Good" economy.

Without the Daughter of Heaven and the Sixth Imperial Dynasty to Grace Saiogena we would of fallen into the Abyss.

The political dissidents we were speaking of were members of the banned Saiogena Nazi Party who planned to murder the Empress and give birth to a Fourth Reich. The threat has ended.

His Excellency Shan Yu is looking forward to receiving the dissidents. He is glad that he is able to assist the Empire of Saiogena in this manner, and hopes to be able to do so in the future.

As to the matter of so-called "human rights abuses," we will just have to agree to disagree as to what constitutes abuse.
