I'm new to nationstates and i have a few questions...
1. People keep talking about what specific weapons and warships they have... how do you get them? and how do you know their stats?
2. I don't get the war thing. If you win do you control that person's country? And, when your attacked... is it like a rp... you tell them what damages you took and so on?
yep thats all i got...
how come it says different things under peoples names? some say "delegate" others say "senator" and stuff... how do i change mine?

RP. ALl of it. You say you're developing a weapon and make the stats. A tip is, if you don't know the stats, take your best guess and put something under that. People have a tendancy to overestimate.
You don't win the nation you smash. You can occupy it in character, bout out of character, the other player still controls it.
I'm not that involved in war because I believe that violence never solves anything, but I can answer your second post.
It's a cosmetic label that shows about how many posts you have. It doesn't affect anything. Change it by posting--but not post-whoring (that's posting to increase your post-count--a big no-no.)
so what are some good stats?

how do i change mine?Spam. A lot. Please do not listen to this... poster.
You don't change them, it changes with your post count. You think I want to be known as Postmaster General? lol
The forums are imagination, but you need to keep what you have/buy/develop realistic.
For example, your nation would not have space technology, nor nuclear devices yet. As far as stats go, you make them up, but keep them realistic.
Also, the title under your name on the forums changes depending on how many posts you have. Post more, and it will change at certain amounts.
since i only have a population of 18 million... i'll have 5000 troops in the army and 5000 in the marines... each decently equipped... no space age weapons, more like m16s. Then i'll have about 50 air-to-air fighter planes (do i have to name them? if so they'll be called Ce-1s) that are of low quality but still kinda work (they can knock out weather balloons, and maybe some cheap recon planes). Then finally... i'll have i dunno... 3 descent (mid-quality) battle ships (CES 1s)... hows that? will that do for now?

And Crimmond, I was clearly joking, especially since my post count is miniscule for the amount of time I've been here.
alright i'll have a 3 tugboats with small cannons attached... (CES 1s)

Yeah I spose, although battleships I'm not to sure. Tell you one thing, you have came on to the scene better than I have.
Also, in the Nationstates Forum, you will encounter many fantasy rps. In these you don't use the military and stuff you would like in war and other rps. In these you create your own people and such as long as you follow the rules. Good luck and have lots of fun (:

I like this newbie. He asks good questions. I approve of your military stats, though you could have more men in your army if you wanted, and maybe not battleships just yet, more like heavy cruisers. You don't have to name your stuff, but it helps a lot in organization, cause you're bound to have many different kinds of planes and such eventually. I hope you stick around, and good luck. If anyone decides to take you over for some stupid reason, just call me and we'll all bash them in.
... along with my CES 1s... i'll have 1 heavy cruiser CES 2... there... my navy is complete

Oh and another thing. The people on this forum like appropriate grammer very much. It will get you more respect than if you don't use good grammer.
Ex Good: In responce to the aggressive actions taken by xXx nation , I have declared war on them.
EX Bad: I declare WaR on Ju NeWBs.

Also, browse the Internet for pictures of the ships and hardware you'd like your nation to have (or produce when the time comes) plenty of sources.. wether you are Fantasy, Medieval, Modern Tech or of Future/Space tech.... you can use the stats for real craft and stuff or invent them on your own..
Also you will see Storefront postings from other Nations.. check those out.. maybe they'll have something you like.. and if you have the necessary cash you could buy.. now.. i am sure you are asking yourself "and how do i know how much cash i have.. well, check this link:
http://www.pipian.com/stuffforchat/gdpcalc.php?nation=cebat
here you'll see how much you have tospend, many storefronters will check your cash availability and will let you know if you have enough.. for more options just take this part out==> ?nation=cebat
Also, Dont be afraid to ask.. plenty of helpful people around..

1. Either you buy them from other nations on their "storefronts," (a bit of a misnomer, as one doesn't usually buy a battleship from a store), or, as I prefer to do, you build them yourself. Usually the stats will be posted somwehere.
2. It depends on what the other person wants to do. Yes, the entire thing is RP. You say what damages you took. In the regional RP I'm currently doing, it's really more like multi-person storytelling than a true game. Other people have different styles.

I'd consider looking at other people's stats to get an idea of the kind you should have for your own equipment. Things like armament, defences, ECM, etc are important.
Your military can also be a good bit bigger; iRL Canada has a population of 30 million, around 100'000 military personel(tho not all combat personel), and has a fairly low per capita defence spending.

Or you can go ahead and devote huge amounts of resources to developing a military, and choose your issues to reflect that. When I would create a super-capital Dreadnought Battleship (or carrier. of which the entire series 4 are all that have been and will be made), I would announce the construction on the ship...and then four months later (real life time) and after selecting my issues in such a way to drop my economy a notch to reflect the sheer drain of building one of those monster-ships...I'd launch it. Of course, not a single one of those ships has seen combat, while the rest of my navy, made up of light cruisers and smaller vessels only, has seen several actions.
When you create a military, you not only wanna think about 'what kind of weapons do I want' or 'how much should i put into it', but also the kind of style you want. Ie, there are empires here that prefer the 'zerg' method of combat--throw their cheap infantry at you until youre overwhelmed. Others (such as myself) depend heavily upon a tech base to create our weapons. My navy is based around four enormous 'core' ships, while nearly every single other ship I have is Light Cruiser class or smaller. Another person's navy may go a more conservative route and create numbers of all classes.
And then beyond simply war, you want to give thought to what commodities your nation has, what kind of terrain you've got, your cities, history, all of that. Do that, and you can weave a great story, particularally if you've got a hidden backstory that you make interesting and reveal a piece at a time. Also, dont just think war is the ONLY means to exercise your political goals--Diplomacy, sometimes will be your best recourse-it'll stop a needless war and prevent the drain on your resources..and the unhappy event of being outnumbered and loosing horribly.
...Oh, one more piece of advice. If you happen to be around a very high-tension blockade, don't fire upon red cross ships that're headed in to render aid, even if you thought they were warships. You could accidentally spark [another] world war....
Not that I'd have any experience there..

One last thing on the use of pictures. If you're making a post about the stats of something like above, it's ok to use a large picture. But in a real RP, please, please never beef up your post's size with a humongous picture with only a few words of actual type. It breaks the board's boarders, and is considered bad RP etiquette.

For regions how do you select delgates?
Can you take over other regions?
How do you get endorsments?
What endorsments are exactly?
Do endorsements increase the economy?

For regions how do you select delgates?
Whoever has the most endorsements in your region is the delegate for you region.
Can you take over other regions?
Yes, through a method known as "region crashing," where a flood of people will enter a region and endorse someone to the point of delegacy, who then boots all of the former members of the region.
How do you get endorsments?
You get endorsements by becoming a member of the UN, and getting people from your region who are also UN members to click "Add Your Endorsement!" under your nation.
What endorsments are exactly?
It's kind of like a "vote" for the delegacy of your region.
Do endorsements increase the economy?
No, they do not affect your nation's stats at all.
Yes, through a method known as "region crashing," where a flood of people will enter a region and endorse someone to the point of delegacy, who then boots all of the former members of the region.
You're only supposed to boot about 10% of nations out, and you're supposed to unban them immediately afterwards.
