Someone explain how I can start RPing my currency/exchange?

Hey, I'm rather new to the NationStates game and I think it's great, I've always taken a strong interests in politics and government and I enjoy roleplaying, so this looks like a great game I've found. I hope this is in the right forum but if it's not can a moderator please move it?

The thing I've been having trouble with is how to basically "break in" my starting point for my economy (in terms of role playing.)

How would one go about calculating

A: Their exchange rate compared to a set value. I chose the Ruby and so now I need to find out what the value of a Thalgladian Ruby is compared to other currencies.

B: Government surplus/deficit. I know this pretty much depends on your ruling style. I'm a capitalist nation with (currently) an economy at "very strong." How do I determine my basic spending limits after I know how much my currency is worth? Can any of you show my an example of yours?

C: How much money my government will bring in and how I should distribute it. I currently have a 6% flat tax from my citizens. How do I know how much taxes my government brought in after each 24 hours, real life day. I can distribute them among programs, eg welfare, etc, as I see fit according to my nations description, I just need to know how MUCH I make.

If anyone would be able to lend me a hand with these things I'd be greatly appreciative. This game looks great and I'm eager to get involved in the community.

First of all, welcome to the game!

The Thirdgeek Calculator (http://www.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?) gives pretty accurate budget info as well as an exchange rate. Just add "nation=Thalglade" to the URL and you'll get a summary. Note: you've to be in a relatively small region to make it work
