This Thread is no longer active. Vilita-Liverpool England has shifted it's focus to a BoF bid.

Vilita & The Lowlands Clans will be bidding to host World Cup 16.

To visit that thread, CLICK HERE (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=155071)

Entrance Structure:

The Colony Cup is revived and becomes effectively a pre-qualifier for the World Cup. Ditto the BoF.

Currently supporting a structure of 15 groups of 6, meaning 90 teams of which;

* 65 are the top 65 ranked teams to sign up
^^ the above does not include puppets ^^
* 8 newbies - the BoF quarter-finalists
* 5 puppets - the CC semi-finalists and the highest-ranked puppet not in the semi-finals
* 12 are the twelve fastest teams not previously in, to sign up

(If not all Ranked Spots are filled, spots will be alloted to the individual nations first signed up that did not previously get in)

This allows the CC and BoF to suddenly assume greater importance, and increases the competitiveness of the actual WC qualifying.

Captain Garry supports Vilita's World Cup XVI joint-bid

Starblaydia Captain Ryan Garry says that Vilita have all the necessary facilities to host the next World Cup

Having played in Vilitia's new Tivali Ring Stadium, Garry knows just how good the Vilitan facilities are.

"We've seen from our own qualification match and the Cup of Harmony Final that they've got the experience and have all the parks to run such a tournament."

His own experiences in the Tivali Ring may bias his opinion, but he believes it may just be the best stadium he's ever played in.

"The stands put the crowd right in your face, and the atmosphere is amazing."

And how does he feel about the Qualifiers, having lost the opening match to Vilita 2-1 in the Tivali Ring?

"I think we were unlucky to lose, but their class showed through on the day. I'm looking forward to the rest of the matches"

WORLD CUP IN AO? HMMM....

Krytenia has pledged it will NOT support the Vilita/LE bid.

Though, naturally, the People's Republic would happily welcome a cup held in Atlantian Oceania, Krytenia's upcoming hosting of the first AOCAF Cup has whetted their appetite.

More details soon.

Krytenia: My humble suggestions is that you offer to host the WC15 CoH to prove your credentials - the WCC aint going to choose a host only in their second cup compared to someone in their tenth and would know how it works.

Jereuselem, Starblaydia: Thanks for your support.

Tsar Alexander II Shows Approval of Vilita/Liverpool England World Cup Hosting Bid

by Eva Gertrude

Tsar Alexander II had attended several games on Vilita soil. And the Tivali Ring Stadium had a lasting impression on him. "That stadium... boy, I think even the Tsar Alexander II Grand Colosseum doesn't beat it. And I've worked years on the design of that stadium," said the emperor at a brunch with his wife Sofia and their young children Valens, Nicholas, and Naomi (and our reporters of course... the Imperial Estate's danishes are exquisite, I might add).

"I wouldn't think that any other bidder has a chance. Even if I've only been to the venues in Vilita, I think they are still a solid choice with their co-bidder Liverpool England."

After we had brunch with the emperor, an old transient drinking cheap grog on the side of the road said, "Vilita? Never heard of the place! (belch)"

More on Sportsnews will be released during WCXV.

OOC: Oh yeah, and by the way I'm sorry I couldn't RP with you when you hosted the CoH... But since high school will be over for me soon (on the 10th = graduation), I'll have plenty of time over the summer before college (and even then there'll be quite a bit of good free time). What got in the way beforehand was school.

OOC: Has the qualifying already taken place for the next World Cup? I have not been in a world cup before but I have been looking through the general forums but I guess they are in NationStates forum, my bad. Anyways, if their is a qualifying thread could someone post it for me. And is this just for hosting WC XVI? I thought we were on WC XV. I am sorry if I have wasted your time with this, I am American, I like the World Cup, but I am not a huge fan of football, I don't know why, so I don't know a whole lot about the WC.

it's not a problem, we've many Americans in the Cup. WCXV is underway, but signups for WC16 are here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3252114). This is the official bid thread for my bid to host WC16.

Both this and the CH-Melly bid look like they have some thought put into them and at this point, I would rate them as the favourites in spite of the unpopularity of CH and LE within the WCC - not always deserved, either.

The main intriguing feature of this bid is the signup quotas - some will complain, I see it as a neat way of reviving dead competitions.

1. I never said a slani thing about a scores website. I wasn't even within 400 miles of my computer at the time. :P

2. You can't very well say 'no contest' before you have any idea what the opposition will look like. Just because you can make fancier graphics doesn't mean that I can't make a useful site. ;)

I would like to see Vilita host a cup sometime in the near future.

HOWEVER, LE's defamation of CH/Melmond is just not on and against the spirit of the World Cup.

From LE:

Hello Spaam, this is sort of a request of you to vote for Liverpool England/Vilita's bid for WC16, part of a plan to attract awareness to our bid. We do know that our bid has one major flaw - I am 12 hours ahead of Vilita, which may cause certain problems when scorinating. However, I should just point you to two minor things, very minor, but minor enough to hurt the MeCH bid, although we do not feel we should capitalise on that, this is what's wrong with the Melmond/Commerce Heights bid. Number 1, Melmond's mess-up with the voodoo dice and the CoDH, number 2, Commerce Heights has done himself no favours by calling the WCC a World Cup Slaniing Assocation (Rejistanian speak for Association to F*ck up the World Cup).
We'd appreciate it if you could seriously consider voting for us.

It was not a defamtion; I was stating a fact, and I'd appreciate it if you could edit it out.
EDIT: Additionally, that was meant to be a private telegram, and I am not happy that you posted it. Please edit it out before I need to call in the mods.
EDIT2: Plus, bolded, emphasis added:we do not feel we should capitalise on that
EDIT3: And, if you think that the WCSA part is a defamtion, perhaps you should spend more time around the WCC, and our IRC channel, and then perhaps you'd know what was going on.
EDIT4: The next time before you post, at least make an effort to find out whether I am stating facts, or lies.

Call the mods if you want.

As for spending more time around here, I'd love to, except I have NO time right now, and prolly will have little until next year. But as for what's 'going on', it does not matter. This sort of behaviour is NOT IN THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD CUP, which is what this is all about. I miss the days of WC5....

Now you see, this is why there is a third alternative. RC/K just want to host a good World Cup. We don't give a monkeys about the politics. It's about the football.

That and the truly, truly bizarre RPs.

(Yes, this is a shameless plug.)

Look.

Actually, this squabbling from all bids does more to hurt a bid than the merits.

Keep it positive or don't complain when you don't win the cup.

Let the WCC make their decision on what you have offered as Cup formats, not the put downs.

*TEN does not support any bid at this time as he has only seen the bid threads of 2 Bids so far.*
