Public address - 6/8/04

Gowanshi
08-06-2004, 06:48
The leader of Gowanshi, Maxwell Rubin, stepped up to the podium. He was standing on a balcony with thousands of supporters below, standing outside the Ministry of Interior building. He cleared his throat and began to speak.

"Greeting my fellow citizens of the great nation of Gowanshi. As this being my first public address as the leader of this nation, I would like to say thank you for choosing me as your new leader. The crimes of the Progressive party had raged on far too long, and those responsible for your suffering are now being put to justice!"

The crowd roared with approval.

"In order for justice to be swift, the newly elected parliament has made the decision to had over a majority of legislative power to me, in order to root out the evils of the Progressive party. Now, do not fret my fellow citizens. I know many of you standing below are Progressives that chose me because your party betrayed you. I am not dismantling the Progressive party. I hold great respect for the true Progressive party, the party that revolutionized this nation over 100 years ago. Sadly, those days are long gone for the Progressive party, but I will see to it that they will be respectable once again. Unfortunately this restoration is going to take time. The current Progressive party cannot be allowed to obtain any more offices than what they already hold. We are starting to feel the end of the corruption that came from their 50 years of dominance. I have just put new legislation into motion that dissolves the current Progressive party. There will be no Progressive party until a fresh new party with new leaders can be formed. I am absolutely positive that when all is said and done, the estranged Progressives out there in the crowd will be most pleased with my decision. I am working for all Gowanshians! Not just members of my own party, as the Progressives have been doing over the past 50 years. A new age of politics is about to begin in the Dominion of Gowanshi."

The crowd applauded with what seemed to be definite enthusiasm.

"As your new Patriot leader, I will now announce the plans for my administration. Though you heard them countless times during the election, I shall reaffirm what I am commited to! First and foremost, the dismantlling of the boderline Communist policies set in motion by the Progressive party. Once again, I respect the Progressives that brought Gowanshi out of the dark ages and into the modern world. Unfortunately, the Progressives became carried away with themselves. How would you like a choice on where to work, or where to receive medical treatment? That choice will begin under my rule! Secondly, I will make our streets safe to walk at night. Police forces will receive better funding. Criminals WILL be punished accordingly. In terms of national security, our military will be revitilized. The Progressives allowed our military to fall behind, placing money in weak government programs that did not serve the majority of Gowanshians. But now, you can sleep safely at night know that Max Rubin will keep our borders safe, that no one will topple the might of Gowanshi!"

The crowd erupted again.

"And lastly, the tenet of my administration that I take most seriously: a fight against Communism and radical Socialism. We Gowanshians have felt the evil hands of extreme liberalism, and now that an end is coming to it, we must help the rest of the world to be delivered from its grip as well! I propose that we fight this fight diplomatically, through the UN, through our own diplomats, through economic sanctions and tariffs. If this does not break down the iron grip of Communism, and if Communism tries to invade our great land once again . . . we will not be afraid to take military action. I am going to begin talks with other nations to create a league that will join me in my campaign to end the worldwide suffering under Communist regimes! I thank you men and women of Gowanshi! I am your new Leader, Maxwell Rubin, and I will fail no one!"

Rubin turned around as the crowd cheered again and entered the Ministry of the Interior. He sighed with relief that his first public address as Leader was now over.
Rotonize
08-06-2004, 08:37
President Roberson turned off the TV.

"This doesn't sit well with me."

He looked out the window and saw the lush and thriving lands of his nation, a nation that was loved by its people.

"That kook better have no intentions of disturbing Rotonize."

"Relax sir," said his aid David, "they're practically a third world country."

"It's that coalition nonsense I'm worried about. The fascists will be on Rubin in no time, wanting to start another witch hunt crusade around the globe. He definately doesn't like us." Roberson replied.

"Perhaps you should champion a coalition of Socialist nations to counteract his coalition, that is if anyone joins." David said.

"Oh, nations will join. I'm sure he hates the ideology of Socialism as much as I abhor laissez faire economics and fascism. I think this fool wants a war. He wants to make a name for his nation that's been in the shadows for all these years. Of course, I took note of the developments there. Their Progressive party was quite corrupt, I do agree there. But . . . I think he's going to just make things worse. He's borderline fascist as it is. That poor nation is going to experience tyranny under one wing and swing over to tyranny under the other. Send a message to the Representative of Defense and the Representative of the Economy. We need a better military budget. Also, put out a bit of a notice on the . . . more private channels as we call them, Let it be known that I'd like to have Socialistic nations to be a bit more closely bonded. This just . . . doesn't sit well with me at all."

"Very well sir." David said, and exited the president's office.
