Twenty five men and women sat in the Hall of the National Senate in the Capital Complex in the city of Cyan, the capital of the Allied States of Saiogena. These twenty five people were from the 25 States in the loose Union and headed the Allied Government and exerted what little power they had, each had been either elected or appointed to the Senate by each State depending on how each State government worked. Common Laws existed that each state had to follow and a small federal tax was owed to the Allied Government and the Allied Government could declare war and sign treaties in the name of the nation and could raise an army but each state ran it's own military force and the number of troops the Allied Government could have was limited to 100,000 men and women. The states could have as large a military force as they could muster. The state of Ingua had over 1/4 of it's population in it's armed forces but they were cutting back on that.

The debate over who would be elected the new President of the Senate had just begun.

"We should do our best to form a united government to better represent the nation to the world," Senator Chiang Wu began what was loking like a long-winded speech, "I recomend Senator Nza Yehowei of Brua as President."

"I second the motion." Senator Hsen Indria stated.

"Senator Nza Yehowei is now on the ballot, are there any other names that should be on the ballot?" asked Benni Mao, the Mayor of Cyan who was the head of the procedings until a President was elected.

"I recomend Senator Aron Toko of Arju." Senator Mry Iszui stated.

"I second the motion." Senator Xio Feng agreed.

"Senator Aron Toko is now on the ballot, by the law the ballot nominations are closed, Senators must vote now."

"Press the green light if you vote for Senator Yehowei." Benni Mao said in his monotone voice.

The lights were counted.

"Press the green light if you vote for Senator Toko."

The lights were counted.

"By a vote of 20 to 5 Senator Aron Toko is now the President of the Allied States of Saiogena." Mayor Mao said before stepping down from the podium and sitting in a seat behind it, Senator Toko then rose from his seat and walked to the podium and made a very short acceptance speech.

"I accept the honor of heading the Allied Government and keeping in trust the Pact of Alliance signed after the fall of the So'jih Dynasty and the death of Empress Pzu Hsi, the Lady of Rage. I hope to lead our nation and the states into a time of unlimited economic growth and power that we have never possesed before in our entire history. Thank you for your time."

The news was reported across the nation on all the networks of the nations new President.
