Galdania: An Documentary by the International Human Rights Organization.
---
A young woman, probably not even twenty years old, stands holding a bag of groceries at a street corner. The footage is shaky and cuts out for a second. It comes back though. The colours are tinted too much, making the woman's skin appear a vibrant pink. Suddenly, a black car that appears purple in the video pulls up to the woman. She drops the bag and starts running. Her coat flies open, to reveal that she is a few months pregnant. Barely showing, but the Government knows.

Three men race from the car and chase after her. One of the men tackles her while another holds her nack straight. The third jabs her in the neck after finding a vein. The woman is dazed, but mutters incoherently in Galdania. "Zybuztraika myi olga dregsvechtzu" she sobs. "Don't take my baby."

But it is too late for Ramiela Taskurnovich. She is taken into the car and whisked away to the Yamuskatz Instiytute, the facility where 95% of Galdania City's Forced Abortions take place. Ramiela was not allowed to have a child because she carried a reccesive gene for Muscular Distrophy. While she and her husband did not have MD, any child they had together would.

Ramiela is just one of thousands of women who have had Forced Abortions. An issue on trial in the United Nations right now would give women the right to choose whether or not to have an abortion. However, Galdania has said that it will defy it if passed.
---
Forced Abortions are not the only Crimes Against Humanity being perpitrated by the Galdanian Central Authority, the governing body that rules over all 26 republics of the Socialist Union of Galdania.

The Pyorg Instiytute in Rámlaïduves'ka, a town on the Endless Steppe in central Galdania, is home to many atrocities of the Galdanian Central Authority. Bizzare and sadistic experiments have been commited in the large, grey building on the flat and rainy steppe. Stories of chemical and bio-weapons testing, live dissections, horrendously painful new methods of execution, drug testing, genetic testing, cannibalism, and just plain torture are always flooding out of Pyorg.

The International Human Rights Organization implores all nations of the world to condemn Galdania's vile experiments and policies, and asks the United Nations to demolish both the Yamuskatz and Pyorg Institutes.

"This is capitalist propaganda! The Galdanian Central Authority has never sanctioned live dissections in the Pyorg Instiytute! However, forced abortions are legal, and we have a moral obligation to stop inferior fetuses from being born. The VAST majority of claims about the Pyorg Instiytute are falsified. Any cannibalism taking place at Pyorg was part of the Galdanian cultural ceremony of the Eating of the Dead, in which a deceased's relatives eat their dead family member."

All the actions of the Galdanian Central Authority, though evil, have been necessary to the security of the state. While it is good to have the support of the people when ruling principalities, a prince must oft do evil to secure his rule, his power, his authority. A prince that does not will lose control.

OOC: Wicked *tag*. Fantastic, Galdania. My girlfriend, who is about 6 months pregnant, got teary and almost cried when I read it to her. She was ready to fight until I explained what was going on, NS and all. I, on the other hand, enjoyed it immensely. Can't wait to see what unfolds here. Wish I could join in, but sadly I haven't had the time to finish previous storylines, much less start new ones. All the same, I'll be peeking at this thread whenever I get the chance. Hope to see great things come from it. Rock and roll.

"The last Prince of Galdania was executed in 1934. There are no kings in Galdania, only people! We have not commited these atrocities. The Pyorg Instiytute is a place of scientific research and education. Like any medical facility, there are dissections and autopsies, but these are to investigate the causes of death for the education of medical students! There is drug testing, there is genetic tesiting, but there are none of the atrocities the IHRO says we have commited!"

OOC: Hold on, hold on. Wait! I'm sorry but I was thinking about this statement for a little while last night and I realized what was wrong with it and had to mention it.

Even if both parents had a recessive gene for MD, the chance of a child that is afflicted is a mere 25%, of course there is also a 25% chance of the child being perfectly normal, and a 50% chance of the child carrying a recessive gene for it. Now, that's assuming both parents carry a recessive gene for it. Now let's make an assumption and say the father does have MD, this is hypotetical of course, then the chance of the child having MD is 50%, and the child has the same chance of only being a carrier. Okay, here's my final thought on the matter what if her husband was perfectly normal, then there's a 50% chance of a normal child and a 50% chance of a carrier child.

If you abort children because of a 25% chance of the child having the disorder, then why allow the 50% chance of a carrier being born?

Of course this all leads back to you saying this was propaganda and was untruthful, which does seem more true as I read it.

OOC: This is true about the genology. But let's say that Galdanian geneologists have developed more advanced methods of testing, so that we can determine that the child would have a 70%-80% chance of having Muscular Distrophy.

We are NOT tyrannical! We are a socialist democracy! We distribute the fruits of our labours equally! We have abolished the use of money for internal use in the S.U.G.!

I wish to express my personal outrage at the treatment of Galdanian women by their govenment. It is an appalling infringement of dignity and an affront to motherhood that such proceedures should be forced upon anyone who is unwilling. I urge the govenment of Galdania to use less invasive and degrading methods to control its population.

The Ximean Science Minister recommends a compromise. Rather than aborting fetuses against the will of families, Galdania could institute a policy whereby any citizen with a genetic disease or a recessive gene which causes one must undergo mandatory germ-line gene therapy. Such therapy would ensure that their offspring do not carry the recessive gene.
Ximea would be quite willing to assist in the research necessary to perfect Galdania's gene therapy techniques. Our research on human zygotes has advanced our biological understanding considerably, and we have recently offered Death (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3235345&highlight=#3235345) himself a senior research position, which he has accepted.
Though any mandatory medical procedure inherently involves a violation of civil liberties on some level, Ximea believes that mandatory genetic "correction" is infinitely preferable to mandatory abortion.

It is unfortunate that the Galdanians must resort to these methods of preserving the integrity of their genepool. Perhaps in the near future they will take more premptive measures of preventing such potential containmination. The scientific community of Sketch is more than willing to share our vast knowledge of the human genome and unique solutions for the betterment of humanity. In order for us to take the next step in evolution, the human race must be purified!

Galdania does not need any aid from other nations. Our research on an 'abortion drug' is 75% complete, and will be ready for human trials in six weeks. This simple injection will cause fetal cells to break down, reverting to stem cells, which will then be flushed out by the woman's system, and used to aid those in need of the cells.

We simply cannot tolerate such disgusting, inhumane and barbaric behaviour. It has to stop now.

In Galdania, kings and princes and all matter of royalty are treated with contempt. The very words are seldom mentioned, as they anger any Galdanian, especially those whon grandfathers fought to bring people's rule to the land.
