Just days after a failed coup attempt by rebel troops backed by his own sister, the Federation of Morsetania's founder and head of the provisional government Andrew Morse won the country's first Presidential election handily, defeating five other candidates.

"We have had a few setbacks in recent weeks, but I think our great nation has a very bright future ahead of it," Morse said in his acceptance speech. "Our economy is stellar and our citizens enjoy freedoms unseen elsewhere in this region."

Morse was elected by an incredible 80% margin, while no other candidate was able to garner more than 14% of the vote.

President Morse will now serve one eight-year term, as stated in the Morsetanian Constitution, which Morse himself helped author in 1986.

Morse's party, the Libertarian Grand Council, also won nine of the country's 16 Senate seats, and picked up 21 of the 32 available seats in the House of Regents, the nation's lower legislative body.

The Libertarian Grand Council did not fare as well at the local level, only winning the governorships in two of Morsetania's eight provinces.
