The Third Kyrr War OOC thread

Would anybody be intersted in another war with those fun old evil-planet-killing computer-thingies?
For those who werent there, the Kyrr are a hive-mind alien species that reproduce by strip-mining space.
They land on a planet, drop 'seedships', which embed themselves in the soil of a planet and take in whatever they can, forming huge Citadels, which produce more seedships and more citadels, until the entire planet is consumed, the process goes on and on, until nothing is left. The Citadels then take to space, where they start scavenging meteors, asteroids and spacebourne molocules with ramscoops (Think a giant vacume for space).
A breif trip into Kyrr space (after the First Kyrr War), showed almost nothing, a few scattered suns, black holes and wandering asteroids.
Citadels can reach the size of Red Giant stars, some were thought to be millions of years old, the Kyrr may well be one of the first sentient species in the Universe.
The First/Second Kyrr wars:
The First Kyrr War was brief, DGNT found the Kyrr, we went in and kicked their collective asses. A few escaped, but they were not found.
The Second Kyrr War happened when a Kyrr scout which crashed on Earth some time back (before the First War), was disturbed, it formed a Citadel and called the remaining Kyrr to Earth, where they almost defeated the alliance formed against them.
Of course, it technicaly didnt end since I forgot about it a while, then when I bumped it nobody replied >_<, mostly because I think they stopped playing NS.
Yeah, anyway, the Third War would end in the total (well, until the need for a Fourth War ;)) extermination of the Kyrr.
The sides:
The Alliance: Those who DONT want to be turned into building material.
Basicaly the goal is to fend of the Kyrr, which, like it or not will happen, since I think that having Earth eaten will get ignored by most players ;)
The Kyrr: Those who want to turn people into building material. They dont really have to be totaly exterminated, just drivin off and possibly tarred and feathered.
This position can be taken by multiple players.

Intresting. What kind of military forces do they have?
Ohh yeah #TAG#

Their ships are pretty impressive, the largest non-spacestation is a 'Doughnut', which is basically a ring about one km thick and one hundred km in diameter.
Other ships are mostly custom types, fitted into basic roles like 'fighters', 'destroyers', and 'battleships', each is fairly unique, being literally home-grown, but follows a basic design.
Their weapons consist of designes they steal from other races and adapt/improve, they prefer energy weapons and missiles.
All of their tech is semi-organic, meaning that while their computers are fairly slow they are also VERY powerful, capable of doing things Earthside computers cant even process. The best way to beat them is to kill them REALLY quickly, before their computers formulate a good strategy.
An intersting side note, they dont use hyperdrives very often, since they are semi-organic and Hyperspace has a nasty tendancy to convert organic material into base-components. They have to raise their shields to the max level, and even then they usualy take a bit of damage.

Interesting. I'll have to see how my little Elf-Genocide thread turns out though, but I would be willing to get involved on the anti-Kyrr side.

I could work on a ground war, but I've got to keep my fleet in shape for the war on TFU.

Somebody to be the Kyrr would be nice...
And I was hoping for more than two other people...I suppose I really shouldnt have ;)
I'm not sure if Xanthal will have the willingness and ability to fight by the time the war starts, but I'll definately be around. The Xanthalian government likes to stick its nose into things.

I would most definetly be interested in fighting the kyrr

Alright.
Maybe we could play the Kyrr as an 'open' side, basicaly whoever wanted to control them could at any time...
I've seen it work quite well at some points, but most of the time it ends up with people screwing with each others tactics for the aliens...it DOES result in some funny manuevers though, such as a bunch of fighters attempting to do 180 turns in less than a second ;)

I might be interesting in RPing the Kyrr, or aiding and abetting them for <insert nefarious purpose here> .

Gotta love those nefarious purposes ;)
Anyway, that works for me. But like I said before, its really a multi-person part. Maybe one or two more, then we can start.
Finnaly...do you, as the Kyrr, want to 'invade' or should somebodys ship run into yours, run back to Earth, and attract a massive horde of evil aliens?

OOC: For a price, the Alliance can have the top-quality infantry forces of MS at their call.
All mercs have previous military expeirence, most from various special operations teams from various nations like USA, Israel, Germany, Great Britain, Australia, etc.
All frontline & commando forces are equipped with kevlar bodyarmor reinforced with ceramic shockplates at key points. Helmets of the same material round out the defensive measures.
Frontline troops carry the G36K from Heckler & Koch, supplemented by the Mk 23 SOCOM from the same company. K-BAR knives round out the arsenal.
Commando forces carry the shorter G36C or M4 carbine. CQB situations call for more compact firepower & this is answered by the UMP 45. Sidearms are provided by the troops themselves & can be anything from a 5.7mm to a .50 Action Express. K-BAR knives round out the arsenal.

Were futuretech, and if you decided to help it would most likely be because your govornment is being eaten by aliens.
Maybe your troops could get in on boarding parties...

OOC: I don't think so. With the recent influx of future-tech/uber-tech nations today, several modern-tech nations, along with Steel Butterfly, have come up with methods of defeating future-tech technology with modern-tech weapons. I don't tag along because I'm getting my ass kicked, I go along to kick the ass. As the name implies, you pay them, they fight.
BTW, what does a Kyrr soldier look like?
sign me up ol buddy as one of the alliance that is

[OOC: i don't know if i have the time, but i'd be interested in playing the Kyrr...maybe as a part-time player?since it's a multi-player part, i don't suppose it would be to handycaping to have a player who's not always there...]

OOC: Okay, just curious. Do they have that annoying adaptive shielding, too?
What do they carry as weapons?

You dont have to mark your posts OOC, the entire topic is :D
They dont have adaptive shielding, they use whatever they capture/reverse engineer. Same with weapons.

Is it at all possible for a human group to make a deal with the Kyrr? You pointed their technology depends on what they steal from other races. Maybe a human nation cuts a deal with the Kyrr that they annually provide them with more sophisticated technology in return for being sparred?

Hasnt happened yet.
The Kyrr communicate through a sort of psychic language, which makes deals rather hard to discuss.
Aside from that, they depend on new conquests to support their 'Empire', all they really do is destroy things to make more Citadels.

Sorry for those who have been waiting, but as you may know I am currently moving and dont have time to write out a long intro...
As soon as things settle down a bit (This may be a few weeks) Ill begin writing it up, so feel free to drastically increase your military production, or buy from the International Mall, in the meantime.

If its not to late than i'd like to join up as part of the allaince...
Also do the Kyrr have any way of unifiing their soldiers? You said that they enslave members of other races, so for example, if one of my soldiers would join them would he walk around in his uniform or would they remove the Imperial symbols?
Dontgonearthere
06-06-2004, 16:21
All Kyrr are mildly psychic, most of them simply dont have any imaginiation or creativity left, just a sort of blind obedience.
They would wear anything thats left of their former uniform, or remove it in favor of something more effecient.

So they want to detroy earth? In that case, i'll use ALL of my forces and resources to fend them from earth. I don't have anyway to really fight an offensive battle out of earth.

The territory of Species 1 is mainly stretched along the outside of the galaxy. The Kyrr fleet could just happen to enter the galaxy through a system that had just been occupied by Species 1? That would make for an interesting skirmish without stopping the Kyrr of course, which would happen if they simply went through one of the inner systems held by me.
