Starblaydia
31-05-2004, 10:32
Protectorate of Starblaydia World Cup Squad

With Starblaydia's Under-21s managing a second round exit from their debut U21 World Cup 3, The fully-fledged national side are looking for an equally acceptable performance in their debut tournament. With all players based in Starblaydia, this well experienced squad is taking the national game to a new level.

Goalkeepers
1. *Boaz Myhill, 31 - Corinthian Spirits
The best 'keeper in the country by some distance, Boaz is as solid between the sticks as you could ask for. A great commander of his area and good shot-stopper too, he's been the number one for as long as many fans can remember
13. Matt Higgins, 27 - Jhanna City
Up and coming, Higgins fantastic record at penalty-saving in the Starblaydi Premier League may see him get a game or two in the Qaulifiers.
22. Tim Deacy, 30 - Internashionale
The backup for Myhill for many years in the past, now eclipsed by Higgins, Deacy is in the squad in case something goes terribly wrong for the other two keepers.

Defenders
2. *Matthew Kilgallon, 30 - Internashionale
Although criticised for using strength and pace to get himself out of poor situations, Kilgallon's natural talent assures him a place in the centre of defence
3. *Ryan Garry (Captain), 30 - Vecchio Victors - 1 Goal (WC Qualifying)
Inspirational down the left of the park, Garry holds the team together at the back, more defensive than the other full-back.
4. *Philip Ifil 29 - Internashionale
An attacking Right-Back, Ifil and his trademark colour-co-ordinated Bandana are always willing to get forward and take a powerful shot from distance
5. Stephen Asante, 30 - Penningworth United
Denied a starting place because of his recently disciplinary record, Stephen is as strong as an ox, a madman in the box.
15. *Paul Cole, 25 - Corinthian Spirits - 1 Goal (WC Qualifying)
Tall and strong, Paul Cole is a skilled Centre-Back, who reads the game excellently
19. Elliot Ward, 29 - Jhanna City
Another disciplinary nightmare for his coaches, Ward takes every tackle personally, subduing his opposing strikers with words and force
21. Robert Cole, 26 - Corinthian Spirits
Able to play at either full-back position, Robert Cole, like his brother Paul, is a solid defender.

Midfielders
6. *Enrico Bigon, 30 - Penningworth United
Actually interchangeable with Philip Ifil at Right-Back, Bigon sits in front of the back for as a wind-break for the defenders, helping them out and only going forward if desperately needed
7. Aiden Matranga, 27 - Jhanna City
Fiercely patriotic, Aiden is a small left winger in the classical mould, flying down the touchline for a pin-point cross into the box
8. Steve Owens, 28 - Jhanna City - 1 Goal (WC Qualifying)
Ousted from the Starting-Eleven by the skills of de Souza Lima, Steve Owens' determination can bring him back to the fore in his role 'in the hole' behind the strikers
12. *Stefan Haldorsson, 25 - Internashionale - 5 Goals (WC Qualifying)
This two-footed playmaker and free-kick taker has taken Matranga's place on the left side of midfield with his dazzling displays of skill and work ethics
14. *David Benson, 23 - Jhanna City - 1 Goal (WC Qualifying)
The youngest player in the Squad, Benson's Right-Midifeld antics balance Haldorsson's perfectly, with great runs and through balls.
16. David Mannix, 28 - Corinthian Spirits
A general-purpose midfielder, David's strengths lie going forward
17. Matthew Young, 31 - Vecchio Victors
Another all-rounder for backup and defensive purposes, his experience will help the team.

Forwards
9. *Nikola Lazerevski, 28 - Penningworth United - 11 Goals (WC Qualifying)
An out-and-out striker, "Laser" Lazerevski is a clinical finisher with great pace, top scorer in the Starblaydi Premier League and Player's Player of the Year this past season.
10. *David Bentley, 29 - Penningworth United- 4 Goals (WC Qualifying)
Forming an excellent partnership with Lazerevski for club and country, David Bentley's sweet touch, work rate and shooting ability are much prized by the nation.
11. Samir Ben Said Nasri, 27 - Corinthian Spirits - 1 Goal (WC Qualifying)
Another clinical finisher, Samir just missed out on starting because of the Pennies Partnership up front.
18. *Fabricio de Souza Lima, 27 - Internashionale - 3 Goals (WC Qualifying)
No-one can really decide whether Fabricio is an Attacking Midfielder or a Forward. His amazing ball control and fierce right foot mark him out as a samba star.
20. Guylain N'Dumbu-Nsungu, 31 - Jhanna City - 3 Goals (WC Qualifying)
Wherever you put him, he'll play his heart out for you. His speciality is as a hulking, bruising striker, he'll try and try until the final whistle.
23. Christian Kabeya-Mbaya, 27 - Jhanna United
Favoured striking partner of N'Dumbu-Nsungu, the tongue-twister of a strike partnership can rack up the goals when Christian plays out wide on the left.

Well I was using 3rd Division Macclesfield Town, so after a Premier Title, FA Cup, UEFA Cup, 3 promotions and the LDV Vans Trophy I think I did quite well :D And just be glad I didn't include my late thirty-somethings Hyypia, Beckham and Scholes and Rebrov :D

Melmond
31-05-2004, 16:33
Meet the Fearless Farmers!
The Roster of the Melmond National Team

kits: green and white

Manager Felix Coostatlwak Age: 78 Sex: Male
This will be the elder statesman’s last chance to see a team from his native country make the World Cup Final as this will be his final year managing. After then he will retire. His 50 years of hard work in the realm of Melmond Football will be augmented by Assistant Manager Gerry Cheevers, former Dennisov goalkeeper and the person groomed to be the next manager of the Melmond National Team. They will stick with the 4-4-2 formation.

Starters (All clubs in Melmond unless specified)

Goalkeeper #21 Snhp Xtfuinxm Age: 23 Sex: Male Club: Aldi Reds
Xtfuinxm had all the hiccups of a young goalkeeper in Melmond’s prior campaign, showing brilliance and at times making some mental mistakes. Four more years experience and the tutelage of Gerry Cheevers could make Xtfuinxm quite possible the best goalkeeper in the world.

Defender #7 Jonsi Torrini Age: 27 Sex: Male Club: Cornellby City (Audioslavia)
Torrini may very well be Melmond’s best defender right now. He still continues to excel on both the world and club stage and his corner kick is extremely dangerous.

Defender #3 Sergio Ortiz Age: 28 Sex: Male Club: Unne Yellows
After some years of inconsistency, Ortiz has become the complete package of discipline aggression and finesse which is treasured on the pitch.

Defender #13 Scott Cheney Age: 30 Sex: Male Club: O’Connor Greens
Scott Cheney played a tad too aggressively in the last campaign as if he was still trying to prove he was starter worthy. He now is assured of his talents and that assurance will mean much for his performance.

Defender #5 Nina Steen Age: 33 Sex: Female Club: Faasen Oranges
Nina Steen is a difference maker on defence. Ask Hundon FC of Bedistan, who terribly miss her on their back line. She may be in her thirties, but her beauty and football skills are still world-class.

Midfielder #6 Martin Goodwin (captain) Age: 40 Sex: Male Club: Cali Purples
He doesn’t care that he is forty; this workout nut still wants a taste of the World Cup Final. He is not only in physical shape to play, but he still has the mental shape to be the only captain the Melmond National Team ever had so far.

Midfielder #8 Critandi Unne Age: 25 Sex: Genderqueer Club: Sen-La-Sa~o Relekhati (Rejistania)
Critandi Unne certainly showcased a lot of hir talent, but hasn’t broken out into the international superstar we know s/he is quite yet. Melmond and Rejistania know hir talent and the rest of the world will follow suit in this campaign.

Midfielder #10 Camui Arai Age: 35 Sex: Male Club: Suburbia Whites
Now known as “green and white lightning” ever since he transferred to his hometown club in Suburbia, Arai at 35 still has the amazing fitness and speed he is known for.

Midfielder #11 Cristina Antunez Age: 30 Sex: Female Club: Melmond City Blues
Antunez has settled down over the years in her flamboyance on the field. Replacing the flamboyant passes is a disciplined and intelligent approach to midfield which doesn’t give her much attention. Instead it makes her more dangerous.

Forward #2 Chris Owen Age: 30 Sex: Male Club: Aldi Reds
Chris Owen really had a breakout last four year establishing himself as one of the best players in terms of making plays in midair. Owen truly embodies the fearless aspect of the moniker in his play as he has overcome gruesome injury to stay awesome.

Forward #4 Benjamin Leeb Age: 32 Sex: Male Club: O’Connor Greens
Leeb and Mornakh the Bloody Handed will probably be alternated as starters alongside Owen on a match-by-match basis. Leeb contributes a deadly accuracy and power in his shots and a cool demeanor.

Reserves

Goalkeeper #12 Gina Unne Age: 25 Sex: Female Club: Unne Yellows
Admittedly a big drop-off in talent compared to Snhp Xtfuinxm, but Critandi’s twin sister gets the job done and will excite with acrobatic saves.

Defender #22 Trav Strachan Age: 19 Sex: Male Club: Lee Grays
A very raw talent in terms of defence. He will never let someone he is marking get a good shot, but is prone to sloppy tackles at times.

Midfielder #14 David Bixler Age: 38 Sex: Male Club: Melmond City Blues
A sort of player/assistant manager role this season. Bixler will be put in when Melmond needs a little more muscle in the midfield; otherwise he is being groomed for the assistant managing position under Cheevers.

Forward #23 Naol Keelafin Age: 29 Sex: Male Club: Melmond City Blues
Keelafin never even started in the Melmond Premier League until the tragic passing of Taxt. He really took Taxt’s role to heart and elevated himself to a strong level of play that earned him a spot on the national team.

Midfielder #16 Chara Effitont Age: 32 Sex: Female Club: Cali Purples
Effitont is probably at her prime now. She may not have the talent to be an everyday starter for the Melmond National Team, but she has proven herself as a solid super substitute.

Defender #17 Phael Survigosis Age: 31 Sex: Male Club: Faasen Oranges
Survigosis has come into his own during the last couple season in the Melmond Premier League and should see more action this time around.

Defender #18 Kestrel Bluesummers Age: 28 Sex: Female Club: Acosta Browns
Kestrel Bluesummers is a very solid defender all-around. Expect her to be in the starting lineup when Melmond puts out more of a speed and fitness lineup as she is known for her quick and accurate clears and long balls.

Midfielder #19 Rainy Zoulthane Age: 28 Sex: Female Club: O’Connor Greens
Terrific talent on all levels, she doesn’t quite have the element of surprise Antunez offers. Don’t be surprised if she starts if the Antunez-Leeb connection doesn’t quite work.

Forward #27 Mornakh the Bloody Handed Age: 31 Sex: Male Club: Cornellby City (Audioslavia)
Mornakh the Bloody Handed will share starting time with Benjamin Leeb on a match-by-match basis. He is a pure goal scorer and has the capability to dominate with his physicality.

Player Jerseys
http://members.lycos.co.uk/tarek13/WohlstandTeamJerseys.jpg
Due to the recent entry of the Isles of Wohlstand into the World Cup, the Wohlstand Government had to come up with jerseys for the Isles of Wohlstand National Soccer team. Although many models of jerseys were submitted to the IoW government, the jersey design from Wohlstand Tactical Clothing was picked. The jersey itself is made from an elastic material so as not to hinder movement while being worn. Also, the material allows for easy passage of air through it. These features allow the player to remain cool while wearing the jersey and to be as mobile as possible as well. The material is also very durable and is semi-reflective so that some sunlight is diverted away from the player to help keep the player cool. The design on the jerseys represent Wohlstand with a part of the national flag on the front chest and the remainder of the jersey matching the Wohlstand flag in color.

WORLD CUP XV HOOLIGANS

The Minister of Athletics, Olympics, and Alcoholic Beverages is pleased to announce that the National Side of the Frost-Free Borderlands of Snub Nose 38, “The Hooligans” that will participate in World Cup XV are the same talented footballers who had the honor of representing the Frost-Free Borderlands during World Cuv XIV. “This will be the 13th World Cup the Hooligans have participated in,” said the Acting Minister, “That’s a bakers dozen. Perhaps 13 will be the "lucky number" for the Hooligans. Margaret seems to think so."

World Cup 15 roster released
The Bureaucratic States FA releases a roster with absolutely no changes

By Bill Christmas

OGLETHORPIA (BT) -- As usual, the Bureaucratic States Football Association has spent several weeks filing the proper forms and waiting for the planets to align before releasing the Oglethorpian roster for World Cup 15. Might we note that it is a roster that has seen no changes from World Cup 14 -- well, besides the fact that everyone is four years older.

Albert-Albertson Black's oldest players (Rodney Heathen & Hans Gelb) now have two Cups under their belt -- the rest of the squad having World Cup 14 experience after bowing out in the quarterfinals.

The domestic scene of the national players was slow as well, the only player to move being Rodney Heathen -- who now holds a defensive post with the Morales Blacks of Melmond's domestic league.

Without further ado here is the Oglethorpian national side roster for World Cup 15.

Manager: Jaskelainen Tenerethitel
All Nikean football fans should remember 'Jaski'. He is a legend among the Nikean faithful, and his notoriety for bringing out the best in players is well-known. He is a former centre midfielder, and has since managed 3 different teams in the Nikean Premier League, bringing all three to the top 5 of the table. All fans love him despite his team affiliation, and his unique coaching style is perhaps what the team needs following their collapse in World Cup 8 qualifying.

Strip

Home - the Nikean home strip consists of a red jersey. The collar and striping, which is down the sides of the jersey and comes up to the armpit, is navy blue, while there is a navy blue hem on the end of the sleeve, complete with a very thin red line surrounding it. The crest of the jersey appears on the left side of the jersey, over the heart. Names and numbers are written in navy blue. The shorts are navy blue, as are the socks.

Away - the Nikean away strip consists of a white jersey, with the same navy blue trimming. Names and numbers are also navy blue. The shorts and socks are both white.

Giant Zucchini National Flag on left chest

Starting 11:
Goalkeeper:
1-Oog - Prehistoric F.C. (GZ)
One of our most dependable players in the squad. Has incredible reach, has the ability to cover any inch of the goal in one dive. Rarely lets in any goals. Suffers from the occasional lapse of concentration.

Defenders:
2-Aargh - Prehistoric F.C. (GZ)
A solid right back who tackles with no fear. Has a danger of getting fouled.

3-Humm - Prehistoric F.C. (GZ)
A very solid centre back who will not let anybody past him without a good challenge. Another player who has a danger of getting fouled.

4-Quk - Rentruk Rovers (GZ)
A good clearer of the ball who makes runs up the field occasionally. His tackles are not as hard as Humm's or Aargh's, but he has the ability to clear the ball very quickly to the forwards.

5-Thunk - Earl United (GZ)
A solid left back with a fierce tackle. Plays the passing game well with Krak and Gung.

Midfielders:
7-Kerrnigit - Marauding F.C. (GZ)
A quality right winger who can cross with accuracy, dribble with tight control over the ball, and shoot with a deadly curl. Our default free kick taker.

6-Poom - Marauding F.C. (GZ)
A centre midfielder with a good eye for passes. His ball control, although not as good as Kerrnigit, can still thread him past defenders. He also has an accurate shot, but it occasionally lacks power.

8-Krak - Earl United (GZ)
A centre midfielder with a good pass. Has great interplay with Gung and Thunk.

9-Gung - Earl United (GZ)
A left midfielder who makes the occasional run forward. Exhibits great passing with Krak and Thunk. His shots occasionally lack power.

Forwards:
10-Urk - Marauding F.C. (GZ) - Captain
Without doubt our best striker in the team. Has brilliant ball control and a devastating shot. However, his best weapon is his versatility. Can beat the keeper from way out, produce a breathtaking curler around the keeper, or simply dribble into the box and lob the ball over the keeper. Occasionally plagued with injury problems.

11-Yew Sei Biu - Kung Pao F.C. (GZ)
The first Giant Zucchini international from the region of Kung Pao, native to the Wong Kua race of oriental zucchinis. An excellent finisher despite lacking speed and fitness, this striker usually operates as the fox in the box.

Subs:
12-Zonk - Yuba United (BED) - Forward
A striker who has yet to prove himself. Has passion for the sport, but slightly lacking in ability. Has decent ball control, but his shots lack accuracy and power.

13-Narf - Bill United (GZ) - Midfielder
A stable midfielder. Has good passing abilities. However, slightly lacking in fitness.

14-Throck - Prehistoric F.C. (GZ) - Defender
A stable defender. Usually subbed on when a more defensive style of play is called for. Has a good tackle and a good clearance.

15-Ppakkaddumm - Wurtherington Wanderers (GZ) - Midfielder/Forward
An attack minded midfielder who can also play upfront. Has a decent shot. However, slightly lacking in ball control.

16-Phoot - Prehistoric F.C. (GZ) - Forward
A striker with good ball control and no fear of defenders. Has the ability to dribble the length of the field without losing the ball. Can also finish headers well. However, his shots occasionally lack accuracy and power.

Reserves:
17-Furtermachtermorgstrasluwecragnavonchelsenntungkshvaghugtihetesprishtengckshnoff - Dankeschoen F.C. (GZ) - Forward
Machterstrassefurtermorgannachttunggutsprechenbuchlungweighetvolkshvargenshtickshnoff's compatriate in Dankeschoen F.C.. Has blistering pace and an accurate shot. However, he is low on fitness and ball control, his shots lack power, and he has a dreadful first touch of the ball.

18-Faard - Westinghouse-Armature F.C. (GZ) - Defender
Has good fitness, quick pace, strong in the air, and tackles hard. However, has poor control over the ball and a horrible shot. Most importantly, his passes are usually errant, which may provide chances for the opponents.

19-Shtaan - Simoleons United (GZ) - Forward
A striker with a wicked shot. Despite its speed and power, his shots are very inaccurate, and he usually ends his season with only about 10% of his shots on target. Has good ball control and passing, but lacks stamina and pace.

20-Plaat - Marauding F.C. (GZ) - Goalkeeper
Widely seen as the successor to Oog. Is very alert and anticipates rather well. However, he is rather small and his reach is limited. Prone to committing the occassional slip-up.

21-Xcavabar - Atlantis F.C. (EB) - Forward
Plying his trade in Europa Brittania, this forward is strong testament to the strength of Giant Zucchini. An all out charging type striker, has brilliant speed as well as a great position and finishing sense. However, may be slightly lacking in experience and fitness. His long range shots also lack power.

22-Zurk - Wonkerman Wanderers (GZ) - Defender
Lately deported back from TnUI, this defender combines defensive grit with attacking flair. A young talent who shows great promise.

23-Woog - Wonkerman Wanderers (GZ) - Midfielder
A young talent which caught the eye of Mr Hurr in his first season in the Premiership. Blistering pace and stamina, but lacks experience and composure, and skews most of his shots wide, or straight to the keeper.

24-Messerschmittahugengrossenbiggenfattenheineapmudorischeronzonisonobuonioevrepique - Dankeschoen F.C. (GZ) - Defender
A young defender with good pace and a good tackle. However, his fitness is low, and has few attacking traits. His good passing makes up for his lack of positioning ability.

25-Machterstrassefurtermorgannachttunggutsprechenbuchlungweighetvolkshvargenshtickshnoff - Dankeschoen F.C. (GZ) - Midfielder
A midfielder with a long name. Known to be able to inject flair into a game. Fairly comfortable over the ball. However, his passes lack accuracy and his shots are weak and inaccurate. Also lacking in fitness.

UPDATE: Game 1 & 2 stats added, and bios for Allen Jergen and Randy Jorge complete!

Current Cup Record: Qualifying (2-0-0)
Coaching Staff
Head Manager/Defensive Manager - Jeff McKay
Replaced Lord Mackintosh as head manager of the Stars, he certainly has done an admirable job in his stead. He brought back an emphasis back to defensive soccer, and since he has taken over, the Stars have let in 1 goal.
Record As Manager: 16-5-2

Offensive Manager - Terry Fleury
Brother of former Clan icon Gavin Fleury, his career was cut short by a dehibilitatingleg injury. An offensive genius, he has designed the plays that have caused the physical offense of the Stars to succeed for as long as they have.

Bios and Stats to Come with each new game!

Kellen Asten - Forward, Starter, TLC Stars
Kellen Asten is a sophomore in the World Cup program. Counted on by Lord Mackintosh to provide a combination of finesse and strength that a rarely seen in a player in the Allied States soccer program

Chee Blackwing - Forward, Starter, TLC Stars
Blackwing is probably the lone player from the Canadian Confederation on this team. Silent and brooding, his football skills are as clear to anyone once he steps on the pitch.
Goals: 1 vs TripB

Matt Devon - Halfback, Substitute, TLC Stars
With one world cup under his belt, Matt Devon has continued to show flashes of promises despite major setbacks in his play. Projected to fill the starters role admirably after he get's some experience under his belt, expect him to get lots of playing time in qualifying.

Greg Devore - Keeper, Starter, TLC Stars
One of the oldest members of the Stars squad, he has the experience that no one can replace. Many predict he will be the next goaltending manager and possibly serve as head manager one day.

Xavier Ford - Halfback, Substitute, TLC Stars
Known for a combination of flashes of brilliance and idiocy, the former certainly outweighs the latter, but not by much. Fortunately for him, he is only required to work the corners, which he is excellent at, maybe the best on the team.

Jasper Graham - Forward, Substitute, TLC Stars
A talented forward whose nickname is consitency, he unfortunately cannot be consistent for long. His poor physical endurance has improved greatly over the last four Cups, but he is still not starter material. This cup though, he has been working on his conditioning, and could get a big role in next years team.

Kassen Illius - Halfback, Starter, TLC Stars
Not flashy, just tough. No nonsense football has given Kassen Illius a great name among his peers on the Stars. He excelled in the rough 'n tough physical play of Lord Mackintoshes style, but has still found his niche in the defnse focused play of Jeff McKay.
Goals: 1 vs Crabec, 1 vs TripB

Mark Jeremy - Forward, Clanners Squad
He is revered as the icon of Clan soccer. He started rather small and dimuitive, as anyone subbing for former star Gavin Fleury. His heart, skill and leadership ability became obviously after the game in which Gavin Fleury was fatally injured. Has captained the last four WC squads.
Goals: 2 vs Crabec
Assists: 2 vs TripB

Allen Jergen - Defender, Starter, TLC Stars
Allen Jergen is halfback who was converted into a defender when McKay took over the team in World Cup XIII. Excellent at getting in the tap that knocks even the most skilled forward off balance, he is valued on this team as perhaps the most important last stand defender to ever come to play for the stars.

Randy Jorge - Forward, Substitute, TLC Stars
Masterful at the skill of dribbling, he is weak in almost every other area. His physical fitness has stopped being a problem, so many expect that he will have his turn in the spotlight sometime this Cup.

Pavel Julios - Halfback, Starter, TLC Stars
Goals: 1 vs Crabec
Assists: 2 vs Crabec
Quentin McKeehan - Forward, Starter, TLC Stars
'Hounder' McGraff - Defender, Starter, TLC Stars
Luther Oster - Defender, Substitute, TLC Stars
Freddy Pollack - Forward, Substitute, TLC Stars
Lester Preston - Defender, Starter, TLC Stars
Orlando Rose - Halfback, Starter, TLC Stars
Martin Tessler - Keeper, Substitute, TLC Stars
Joshua Teller - Defender, Substitute, TLC Stars
Moe West - Defender, Starter, TLC Stars

Raptor Claw
20-06-2004, 15:59
For the first time ever, the Raptors will announce the names of their players, previously known only as Raptor 1, Raptor 2.... etc...

The Raptor Claw Goalkeeper, Gonnast Opyou, from the South Island Clan, has been National team keeper for many seasons now, improving at every attempt. The Raptor Claw Defense is led by Imapla Yindabak, also from the South Island Clan The towering central defender is a menace to all that approach. Partnering this Raptor in Central defense is Iwilltac Kleyou, from the rejuvinated Central Island Clan. This Raptor is the first to make the National team from the Central Island Clan since the horrific dismembering of the clan prior to World Cup 14. Playing as Wing backs will be Makapla Yupdaline and Overla Pinrun, both from the East Island Clan and regulars in the Raptors Lineup. The Raptor Claw midfield is led by Captain Imdalea Der, the experienced Raptor from the North Island Clan is an important fixture in the Raptors lineup every time they step out onto the pitch. Partnering Der in the Center of Midfield is Contro Lindaplae, also of the North Island Clan. On the left wing is the pacey Runni Nondaside from the West Island Clan and on the right wing, one of the most prolific Raptor goalscorers, Maki Narun from the South Island Clan. The Raptor Claw strike force is the frequently troublesome duo of Imat Arget and Runni Naroun. both from the East Island Clan
