A large egg lay in a pile of warm blankets in a greenhouse. This greenhouse was unusual for Lavenrunz in that it was mostly for desert plants. The warm dry heat surrounded the growing being inside the egg, and it was monitored night and day. Empress Aurora had just returned from a hunting trip in the southern Harz Mountains when she learned that it had begun to rock slowly from side to side. She sent a discreet note to the envoy from Kalessin and went with a select group of her courtiers--and the ever present Thirty Camelias--to see what would happen.
The young Empress was quite eager to see what would happen, and as she came into the greenhouse her blue eyes were bright with excitement.
